"You're an asshole, you know that?" Michael whined, accepting the bag of frozen peas that Calum was handing him with a scowl.

"I'm sorry." Calum repeated for the fourth time, finally sitting down after fretting over the injury he'd caused.

"What kind of person does that?" Michael continued as if Calum's apology was nothing more than a breath.

"I really needed to pee." Calum sighed, having gone over this once or twice already with the newly purple haired boy.

"So you left me on the ground?" The boy complained, begrudgingly taking the hot chocolate Calum had made him. Maybe it was rude of him to take out his bad moo on Calum, it clearly wasn't the boy's fault, the printer was asking for a fight.

Michael exhaled a long breath, swirling the steam rising up from the contents of the cup. He watched Calum as he took a dragged out sip, just so he could prolong the silence.

Calum, had changed considerably since the last time he'd seen the boy, a year could change a lot about someone Michael realized absently. You don't usually notice the small changes over the year unless you don't see them, then it's kind of like a slap in the face.

Calum was different - well he looked different anyway - he no longer wore that faded Christmas sweater, he was much too tall for it now. He'd cut that cringe worthy fringe short to the point where there was little hair left, his chubby cheeks had shrunken slightly so you could see a stronger jaw. Michael hated to say it, but Calum was going to be super attractive later on in life.

"Wow, you're almost as tall as I am." Michael teased, narrowing his eyes at the boy playfully. Calum pouted at that, thinking it was a little childish for the twenty four year old to say stupid things like that to someone who is four years younger.

Michael hadn't changed much, either than a few new tattoos and a different hair colour completely. He'd changed into something more comfortable after the initial shock of Calum waking him up on the floor, his plaid pyjama pants were rather dull in comparison to Calum's snowman covered ones.

"It's Christmas tomorrow," Calum whispered suddenly, he looked to be deep in his own thoughts. His voice was soft, quiet as if he'd just made the realization. This was the second year that Calum wouldn't be able to spend the day with his family.

Michael panicked a little, Calum was going to go into a quieter state like he did last year if Michael didn't distract him. The boy looked around, finding nothing that would interest the boy in the living room. He thought he was doomed, eyes moving to search what he could see of the kitchen.

Gingerbread.

Michael stood up suddenly, bring Calum out of his daze. "So I saw your cookies, and I have to say I absolutely love gingerbread men."

"Really?" His voice was hopeful and his face brightened. "I wasn't sure if you would."

Michael crossed the room in no time, picking up a storm trooper and shoving it into his mouth with a smile. He didn't actually like gingerbread, but this was the only solution to keeping Calum happy right now.

"I can make dinner and then you and I will get some rest so we can be up bright and early tomorrow." Michael replied decidedly after spending some time trying to stomach the three other gingerbread men he ate.

"I'll find something to watch." Calum agreed, flopping down on Michael's leather couch and picking up the remote. When he thought Michael wasn't looking, he started bouncing around slightly on the couch, both to get comfortable and because the couch had a nice bounce to it.

Michael let out a small snicker as he removed a frozen pizza from the fridge.
