Recipe 53: Aquarium

Roadtrip Day 16:
Location: Calbayog, Samar

Alex's POV:

"Good morning, Lexi!"

"Yaaaawn....yeah, good morning, Flonne."

Me and my friends woke up in an unconventional way...well we woke up in a tent. I was thinking to myself...how in the world did that happen?!?! Well, here's a back story...

Alice and I accompanied the fisherman to buy some fishes in the nearby market. I guess she is buying those to prepare her attempt to beat me in our cooking rivalry. But nevertheless, I would let it slide.

But when we come back to our food truck, we saw Danica and Claire, still dipping into the water.

"Woah!! Claire! Danica! Didn't you leave that spot...even for just one second?!" Flonne worriedly asks our friends. "You know the water's too cold! You could get some cold!"

"Hehehe! Don't worry, Alice. We have a tough resistance to diseases! Hehehe!" Claire boasts and giggles. "In fact, how about we have camping near the waterfalls?"

"Whoa! Re-really?! Let's do it now!" Flonne is visibly excited about her best friend's idea. "Don't you know that I'm a girl scout from elementary until high school? Hehehe!"

"But...how about our tent?" I curiously ask her.

"Huh? What are you talking about? We will not buy one! We need to create one! Hehehe!"

And as fast as lightning, Flonne directed Claire and Danica to get a tent set...that was found inside the glove box of the truck! Woah! I didn't know there's one! Easily, Flonne teaches us how to built it

Flonne then created a campfire by gathering some dry leaves, shrubs and twigs and sparking two stones over there. We spend a night there...roasting some barbeque and having fun. Except...

"Ugh! I can still feel the ant bites from last night!" I complained to my scout girlfriend.

"Hehehe! You should be get used with this situation." Flonne replies by teaching me a little lesson. "You just experience some basics of survival...what if we get lost in the wild, with little provisions of food and water? You know, I should teach you how to survive even in the hardest situations."

"Hehehe! My bad!"

"No worries! Hehehe!" Flonne giggles as she continues to walk around using her crutches. I observed that...she can able to walk properly with support...though she always limp her...right foot all the time. I wonder if she can walk without support...hmm...

"Oh, Lexi. What's the problem? If there's any, please don't hesitate oka-eeeeek!!!!!"

I tried to steal away the crutches from her to find out...

"LEXI!!! WHA-WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?! I NEED THAT!!! YOU KNOW THAT I STILL CAN'T WALK, YOU KNOW?!?!" Flonne scolded me as she panics and scrambles for something to hold on...but she didn't notice that...

"Huh? What are you talking about? Look! Hehehe!"

She observes her extremities...though her legs are a little bit wobbly, I could say that she can stand up properly...she then flap her arms sideward and tried to walk...

"Ow!" She continues to limp her right foot as she walks for a few meters without support. That's when she began to realize it all. She starts to smile at me...and giggles...until...

"YAAAY!!!!" She jump so high in joy. "LOOK, LEXI! HEHEHE!!! I CAN WALK! I CAN WA-WHOAAA!!!"

"Gotcha!" Flonne still loses her balance, so I run and caught her immediately. "That doesn't mean you're finally cured. You need to practice more often so you could regain your legs."

"Hehehe! I know that!" Flonne pinched me and giggles. "Come on, our friends are already in the food truck."

I let Flonne wrap her arm around my shoulders, so she could slowly walk...and limp her way back into our truck....

Alice Flonne's POV:

After some minutes of driving, we arrive in the front of Calbayog City Market, the perfect place for our competition between me and Lexi when it comes to cooking.

And this time, I'm gonna change my plans...well, I'm done with meat and vegetables so...how about I try something...like fish, seafoods and stuff?

"THE 'FOOD IS LOVE!' IS NOW OPEN!!!"

Ha! That is why I buy some tilapia from the fisherman I met yesterday! And I'm gonna make it very tasty...using my trusty spices that are always by my side! Hehehe!

"I would like to order two burgers, please?"

While patrons starting to buy Lexi's fast food, I am starting to fry my tilapia into golden brown. Why? Well, it's in the recipe, of course! Hehehe! My mystery dish for the day needs to be fried before preparing the sauce.

"A fried chicken fillet to go, please?"

Then I prepare the sauce that I was talking about. In a separate cooking pan, I sautéed garlic, onion and tomatoes...before adding water to retain moisture. I mixed the ingredients up until it is nearly cooked. And for the final touch, I add some beaten eggs and waited until it's fully done.

TAAADAAA!!!! Here's my newest creation: sarsiadong tilapia! Hehehe!!!

The aromatic scent of my newly cooked dish quickly surrounded the customers of the truck...making some of them changing sides and orders sarsiadong tilapia.

Everybody is amazed on how can I cook it in the fastest time possible. Well, it's easier to cook while I'm sitting on my wheelchair than standing up and endure my wobbly legs. Besides, I still need some energy to exercise my legs once today's transactions are done.

"Mmm!!! Delicious!" Everybody who orders my dish is satisfied. I must admit, some of my dishes has a little salt into it...in an attempt to spice it up...but ended up to be unpleasantly salty. My bad! Hehehe!!!

"Hello, milady." Then suddenly, a middle aged man spoke to me. When I looked up and examined his face, I recognize him...it was the fisherman that I met yesterday. "Can you give me one of your cooking that you're selling right now?"

"Certainly, sir. Please wait a moment."

As I happily cook another serving of my sarsiadong tilapia, I noticed...that people around him are talking to each other...and sometimes talking with him. Perhaps, he is popular in this part of town.

"Here you go, sir." I placed the serving of my dish in front of him. "I hope you like it."

And as he is about to dig in to my dish, suddenly...I felt a very strange feeling...of being uneasy. My heart is totally pounding right now, perhaps...this fisherman in front of me...and is about to taste my cooking...is not just an ordinary one. But maybe...just maybe...a very wise man...in cooking...

"Hmm...milady. You might need some little improvement with this dish."
