Recipe 23: Mountain
Roadtrip Day 5:
Location: Baguio City
Destination: Santiago City, Isabella
Travel Duration: 5 1/2 hours
Alex's POV:
BRRRR!!! I have been experiencing chill in Baguio for two days and two nights...but I still can't used with it.
But...I still need to go up early...four in the morning to be exact...since we are heading for a long ang bumpy ride to our next destination: Santiago City in Isabela.
I go up into the food truck...I saw Flonne humming while attends something in the cooking pot...
"Lalalala....ooh! Hello, Alex!" My girlfriend noticed me and waves her hand. "Have some hot sopas to warm yourself."
"Sure, thanks." I smile at him to accept her offer. "Flonne, you're always up early in the morning."
"Well...that's what I always do! Hehehe!" Flonne giggled as she explains. "Remember, my mother and I always take shifts in cooking breakfasts every time and then."
Flonne then poured out the sopas into a bowl and gives it to me with a smile...
"Oooh! Milky and delicious! I never tasted this kind of sopas before. I know this soup with only macaroni and chicken in a soup that is added with condensed milk. But hey, you added carrots and vegetables to make the soup more delicious...and a boiled egg in between, Flonne, you're a genius! I only thought egg only applies on lugaw."
"Well, do you think I don't have a creative mind?" Flonne winked at me. "A great cook should know that you should use a creative mind to make simple dishes into a lovely and more delicious one. Hehehe!"
"Hello, Alice!" Danica and Claire entered the truck next. "So, are you ready for the long and bumpy ride?"
"Of course, I will! In fact, Alex and I decided to take turns in driving once we reach the stopover in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya." Flonne then offered bowls of sopas to them. "Here, have some soup to warm you up as well."
"Thanks, Alice!"
My best friends sipped their soups to warm their bodies and prepared ourselves to the long journey through the mountains, wide rivers and vast farmlands.
And for the first leg of our trip, the only thing that we need is a bottle of mineral water, a pack of chips...and a lot of road music!
"Alright, let's go!" Flonne started the engine and shifts gear. She cautiously drive the truck...keeping her eyes pealed on the road...since fog engulfed the city late at night...making the roads wet.
"Woah...the roads wet. There's no rain yesterday, right?" I commented the mysterious slippery road but...
"Umm...Alex, I can't talk properly right now...I have to drive carefully so that we can't bump on something...sorry."
I took a deep sigh after I heard Flonne's plea...and smiled. I understand that she cares for us in this time of the day, since she's in the steering wheel, so...
"Hehehe! Why didn't you say so?" I replied to her "Okay, focus on your driving now. Just call me if you need something, o-whoa! Watch out!!!"
And just as I ended my reply, I saw a falling rock right in front of us. Good thing that Flonne is alert and quickly brakes the truck...far enough from the rock.
"Phew! That is sooo close! Hehehe!" Flonne, in her astonishment, just laughed and scratched her head. "Thanks, Alex!"
"Your welcome!" I patted her shoulder and smiled at her. How about we tune up some music to forget about this?"
"Hehehe! Alex, you're a lifesaver! Okay then!"
As the sun begins to rise over the road, the majestic views of the Cordillera mountains reveals in front of us, just in time that I opened the truck's tuner and starts to play random songs that everyone sang along.
For me:
Then, Claire sang this:
Danica's favorite song is:
And when my girlfriend Flonne's turn...and the tune begins to play...Claire and Danica goes to a flirt.
"AYEEEE!!!!"
But instead of her face to blush, Flonne smiles at them...and with her beautiful voice, she began to sing...
We keep on singing...and singing...that we didn't notice that we have arrived at the town of Bayombong...the capital of the province of Nueva Vizcaya. Well, singing really makes the trip faster, huh?
We stopped by in a nearest convenience fast food store to buy and eat some snacks. Suddenly, Claire screamed...
"WAAAAH!!!"
"Whoa! Wha-what is the problem, Claire?!" Flonne panicked as well. "Do you forgot something?! Did I do something wrong?!
"Hehehe! No...it's just we've missed some sceneries while we're on the road."
"Huh...munch...what do you mean?" Danica asked her while eating some snacks.
"We've passed along Ambuklao Dam." Claire explains. "There is a viewing deck at the side of the road where you could see the dam. It's beautiful when the river down there is full of water. Man, why do I missed that?!"
"Hehehe! Don't worry about that" Flonne giggled and cheers her best friend up. "I'm sure there would be lots of sceneries that we will passing by when we continue our trip, especially Alex will now drives the truck."
"Oh! Come on, Flonne!"
"Huehehe!!!"
After chomping down some snacks and having a toilet break, I took over the truck's steering wheel and started the second leg of our trip. Well, I'm still not used with driving so well...and that's when Flonne comes in to guide me to drive, especially in shifting gears and pushing pedals properly
"Hey, guys! Look!"
I can't turn my head to what Danica want us to see...but Flonne kindly stood up, take her cellphone and take a picture of it...to make me see it...
"Here, Alex! Hehehe!"
"Oh....nice imprint." I commented. "Thanks, Flonne!"
"Your welcome!"
And shortly after seeing this imprint on a hill, we've reached our next destination: the city of Santiago in Isabela Province.
