Impossible To Avoid

Lizzie's Perspective-

Lizzie was sitting in her tower, writing a letter to Prince Joel when she heard the guards calling for her mother.

She poked her head out and explained how she was in House Blossom's embassy and the guard hummed.

"Some royals from The Grimlands are wishing to trade." Sir Williams said and Lizzie peeked out and saw the two on a lily pad.

"I can help, mom's taught me about trading." She said, and Sir Williams walked her down to the visitors.

"Ah, hello Princess Elizabeth." The King said. "We come bringing gifts."

Lizzie tilted her head, and she saw him and the prince take out two chests filled to the brim with fireworks.

"Woah." She whispered, impressed.

"And we have extra elytra to help you fly." fWhip, the prince, showed her.

"Oh wow, thank you! Do you want some prismarine?" She motioned to the stand behind her and the two stopped her.

"Oh no, we just need some buckets of salmon." fWhip said.

Lizzie blinked.

"You...want fish?"

The two nodded and Lizzie shrugged.

"Okay, how many do you need?"

"However many two chests of fireworks is worth." The King said and Lizzie smiled.

She returned with a boat of buckets with salmon and the royals were impressed.

They thanked her for her time, and she went up to the palace, excited to try out flying for a change.

After strapping on her elytra and holding a firework, she heard her mother shouting from outside her room.

Stomping was heard by her door and her mother slammed it open.

"Elizabeth Darity Shadow, you did not trade when I was not here." Her mother said angrily.

"W-what? But you said I could-!"

"With our allies. You have no idea how much trouble you just caused." Her mother huffed, clutching a letter in her right fist.

Lizzie shrunk down and felt tears form in her eyes.

"I- I'm sorry I didn't know! I just gave them some fish!"

Her mother's face turned red as she tried not to shout anymore.

"What did I do?" Lizzie asked quietly.

"Enough." Her mother held up her hand. "Give me your elytra and fireworks and stay in your room. I don't want to see you anymore tonight."

"But- "

"The elytra, Elizabeth." Her mother gave her a look and Lizzie handed her the items before watching her mother leave.

"What did I do...?"

-

It was late in the night and Lizzie had gently opened her door to give her houseworker her empty plate (her mother made sure she had food, but it was clear Lizzie had messed up big time if she wasn't allowed out in the dining hall).

"Eleanor?" Lizzie whispered, looking around.

Most of the lights were off and there was a soft blue glow in the palace from the soul lanterns, leading her around.

There was no one in the dining hall and as she walked around to find her houseworker, she saw her mother in the map room. She quickly hid behind the door and heard her mother whispering.

"I can't get involved in this stupid war, but it would be worse if I was enemies with him." She sighed and rubbed her forehead in frustration.

"Oh Elizabeth, you have no idea what you've done." She whispered and Lizzie felt tears form in her eyes, the guilt washing over her.

She put her plate down and left for her room, trying to hold in her tears so her mother wouldn't hear.
