2. - It's Nice Seeing You Again

SUFI (Song Used For Inspiration): 'Butterfly Culture' by Benjamin Francis Leftwich

~~~~~
Lily and Mat looked at Rob and I in worry, as if him and I were going to fight, but it wasn't going to happen, at least, I didn't think so. Everything was silent for a few moments, and my throat felt dry, but I say, "It's nice seeing you again, Rob."
He licked his lips, which were probably dry, and answers, "It's nice seeing you as well, Remmi." Mat and Lily both were still nervous, because Mat was tapping his foot anxiously and Lily was biting her lip.
"WELL, I'm hungry, I'm kind of hungry." Lily admits, changing the subject.
"Oh, I'll go get the food from-" I began.
"No, I'll, go." Rob suggests, looking at me.
"You know what, how about you guys, stay here, and I will go get food. Ok? Ok." Mat suggests without wanting any of our answers. And with that, he left the room, only leaving Lily, Rob and I, in this room. Gee, thanks for your help, Mat. We all stand there awkwardly, making me feel weird and impatient. Rob then came in, and sat down on the only sofa.
"So, when did you decide to come back to Canada?" Rob asks, breaking the silence, which I was grateful for.
"I came back today, I had to." I answer quietly, looking down at the floor and gripping on my own arm tightly.
"It's for a uh, job thing." Lily tries explaining, but it leads Rob on to more questions.
"Oh, a job thing?" Rob asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, we both have the same job. My name is Lily by the way." Lily says, putting her hand out.
"Robert, but you can call me Rob." Rob says, shaking Lily's hand. Now that Lily introduced herself, I'm sure if I bring something up, it'll most likely change the subject of me being back.
"Um, Rob, if you don't mind me asking, how has everyone been doing, while I was gone." I ask hesitantly, hoping to get a good answer instead of a rude answer, like Mat.
"Well, everyone I know has been doing well." Rob answers warmly. I give him a small smile, and look around awkwardly.
"Coffee..I'm going to go get some coffee..." Lily says, getting up.
"I can go get it, of you want-" Rob asks.
"No, I'll go do it." Lily says, getting up and leaving the room. I could tell she didn't like a lot of tension, which was understandable, considering the fact that I am with someone that I haven't seen in three years. Rob and I sat there, looking at each other in silence. I tried my best not to, but each time I wanted to say something, I looked at him, but I'd forget my question right there. Then, I couldn't take it. I walked up to him, and hugged him, even though the camera around my neck made it hard to, but I couldn't care less.
"I'm glad to see you again." I whisper, my eyes closed with my hands around his neck, and my face in his chest, feeling the soft, grey fabric from his sweater against my cheek.
"It's good to see your face again, Remmi." Rob confesses, patting my back in comfort, as if I were going to cry. But I wasn't, I couldn't. If this was my first time seeing Rob again, then I don't want him to think I was a coward, a crier.
"I'm back! Er, am I, interrupting something?" Mat says, who was probably back with food because I could smell the aroma from the food from all the way across the room. I pulled away, and gave Rob a warm smile, but turned to glare at Mat, who was smirking.
"Yeah, you were interrupting our friendly welcome." I retort, putting my hands on my hips.
"Well sorry, but I brought food." Mat says, setting the bag of food on the brown wooden table, "Where's Lily?"
"Oh, she went to get coffee, I don't see why she's taking long-" Rob explains.
"I'M BACK!" Lily explains, walking in with four Starbucks cups in a beige holder where you usually set drinks when you have more than one.
"Lily you shouldn't have." Mat says, helping Lily with the coffee and putting it on the counter as well.
"I had to, or else I'd be selfish for not doing so." Lily explains, "Since I don't know your favorite orders, I got you all the one I like, Frappuccino!" (A/N: Ah, frappuccino, my heaven in Starbucks *^* )
"Thanks." I say with a small smile of gratitude.
"I see Mat is back, what did you get for food?" Lily asks curiously.
"Chinese food." Mat announces proudly.
"Aw yes! I'm starving!" Lily says, putting her fist in the air.
"How can we not be? We were sitting on a plane for hours with only peanuts and water." I say with a small smirk on my face.
"Well, don't just stand there and help me set up then." Lily says, taking out the small white cartons filled with rice, noodles, and sauce. Without hesitance, I went to the table and helped Lily take out the Chinese food, which made me anxious because of the food's aroma playing with my smelling and tasting senses. I got one carton and some chop sticks, since I knew how to use them. For the first time in today, I felt happy. It wasn't like I was sad earlier or anything, but, I felt like anything bad that happened today, didn't actually happen at all. Without hesitation, my sticks got ahold of some rice, and I bit into the chunky meat, which released a bit of grease in my mouth and I had some against my lips. I gulped it down, licked my lips, and started eating a bit more calmly now, since I was starving before.
"I forgot how hungry I was, now I'm starting to feel full." Rob says, continuously eating.
"Same with me, I'm glad I got Chinese Food." Mat says, nodding in agreement with Rob's statement. We continued eating, getting into a few conversations, until we all got full and we couldn't eat another bite.
"Gosh, I'm full." I say, sighing in relief, remembering how hungry I was before.
"Not me, but I want to save some food." Lily says, drinking some of the frappuccino, with some whip cream on her top lip.
Mat laughs, "Hey Lily, you have a bit of cream right here." He explains, pointing at his top lip. Lily raises her eyebrows and gets the cream off with the back of her sleeve.
"Sorry." Lily says with a small chuckle. Mat gets his coffee, and starts drinking it slowly. I put away my white carton, and sit on a bed, looking at my camera. It was a Canon EOS Rebel T3i (A/N: I wish I had that camera, my cousin has it and it's BEAST), I recently had cleaned the lens, since I accidentally tapped my finger on it, making the screen look smudgy.
"Nice camera." Rob says, sitting next to me.
"Yeah, it cost me a lot, but luckily, I got it." I say, trying not to sound like I was bragging, which wasn't my intention.
"What is it for? Do you like taking a lot of pictures and just collect them?" Rob asks, and one thing's for sure, he asks many questions.
"Erm, sure, I guess you can say that," I say, putting the camera's lanyard on my neck, "I don't exactly collect them, I just take them, and that's how I earn a living."
Rob suddenly took notice of my lanyard, and smirked, "I see you like video games."
"Oh," I say, blushing slightly, "Yeah, I uh, I take a slight interest in them, I don't play them a lot but, I do when I get the chance." I knew why he pointed that out. My lanyard was a 'Kingdom Hearts' lanyard, which I found in my attic, which was supposedly my brother's, but he didn't use it anymore, so I made it into a camera lanyard.
"Speaking about video games, do you know a game called 'Minecraft'?" Rob asks.
"PFT, Rob, ask a more awesome question, like, 'Do you play Dota 2'?" Mat says, barging in the conversation.
"Really Mat, Dota 2?" Lily asks, grinning, "My older brother is a complete nerd when it comes to Dota."
"It's not called being a nerd, it's called being an epic gamer, get your facts straight." Mat says, crossing his arms in a superior looking way.
"ANYWAY, so, Remmi, do you?" Rob repeats.
"The Dota or the Mine-thing?" I ask, with a small smile.
"Remmi, you know what I'm talking about, I can see it in your face." Rob says, crossing his arms.
"Ok ok, yeah sure, I know what Minecraft is, but I'm not a hardcore fan, I've just heard of it." I answer, shrugging.
"Do you own the game, at least?" Mat asks.
"No, not really." I say, "Only my brother does."
"Well, your brother sounds cool, anyway, I am legitimately bored, we should do something." Lily says, laying on the other bed.
"Let me suggest something, how about we go walk around Montreal, since Remmi here hasn't been here in a while," Mat suggests, "A LONG while, I must say."
"Sounds like a plan to me." Rob agrees.
"Alright, come on, vamonos!" Lily says, grabbing her purse and going out of the room. I got our room card and we all left the room, with me closing the door behind us. We walked down the hallway, and ran downstairs to the lobby. To be honest, I never thought I'd have a lot of fun in one day for some time, I expected this day to be ordinary like always. I didn't exactly expect to meet my long-lost friends and hang out with them again, I thought maybe they had forgotten that I existed. But nope, the total opposite, Mat found me on the street, got us a hotel, and met my long-lost best friend without any problems whatsoever, I guess you can say that I owe him one. But, I continued walking, and we all went into the outdoors, the wind hitting us as we got out.
"Crud, I forgot how chilly it was." Mat murmured. We all agree, and Rob leads the way, showing us the changes and the things that still were there. I couldn't help but smile as I recognized a few places. Thankfully, not many things were replaced. The air howled as it blew, making me huddle into my knitted sweater, which made me thankful for having it. I could tell the others were cold as well, because they gripped their own clothes tightly. Lily explained how she recognized these places as well, making us interested in her stories. She was always good at story-telling, it was something you could tell once she starts a conversation about her own life.
"It's too cold out here, hey, let's go to that bakery." Rob says, pointing at a bakery nearby. I look at it, and I suddenly recognized it, it was my aunt's bakery. I gave a small gulp, and smiled at Rob, nodding in agreement.
"I think that sounds legit." Mat agrees, making his way there. I follow, but I do it in a hesitant manner. If she still worked there, then there was no way she wouldn't recognize me. We all entered the bakery, and I tried my best to hide my face by following the other three from right behind. I look around for a table far away from the counter, and I sit there, making myself face the wall.
"Um, Remmi, what are you doing?" Lily asks in confusion.
"Nothing. Just, order me some donuts, if you can, that is." I say, not facing anywhere else but the wall.
"Sure..." Lily says, and I hear her walk away. I sigh and look out of the window, which was large, so that when people pass by, they could see what was inside. For me, I just wanted to leave, no matter how welcoming this place was, I didn't like it, not at all. If my aunt recognized me, she would tell everyone that I was back. I tapped my finger nervously on the table, that is, until Rob came with my donuts.
"You've been acting weird, is it because your aunt runs this?" Rob asks. It's funny how he knows so much about me, which is the reason why he's my best friend, he makes things better for me, and I like that.
I smile, "You know too much about me, you know that, right?"
"Of course I know that, I know everything, don't I?" Rob says, raising an eyebrow and sitting down next to me.
"Is my aunt there?" I ask, trying not to look at the counter.
"Yep, I saw her." Rob answers, leaning back on his seat.
"Oh, well-"
"Hi Robert! I didn't expect to see you here." A random girl says. Rob looked at her and smiled, leaving me dumbfounded with one question, who was she?
"Hi Natalie." Rob says, kissing her forehead, leaving me looking like an idiot.
"Remmi, meet my girlfriend, Natalie." Rob introduces. I look at him as if he wasn't serious, but I knew somehow that he was. I try my best not to make my voice quiver. I look at Natalie with a small fake smile, and took my hand out, making myself sound a bit rude, but not too rude for it to be noticeable,
"It's a pleasure meeting you, Natalie."
