When I woke up, it was 11 in the afternoon, and I rushed to get ready for my new job. I combed my hair slightly to the back and ran out of the pizzeria.
"Perseus, just on time! I never introduced myself. My name is Adam. This is Nate, he's gonna show you the ropes of being a camera man. Your just a beginner." Adam said, walking towards another man who was looking at camera lenses. I nodded. "Get him some coffee!" Adam yelled suddenly, pointing at me.
"Hey Perseus, nice to meet you." Nate said, nodding at me. Not a hand shaker I presume.
"You to." I said, standing awkwardly. I was so happy I was getting paid for this. End of the month then I get my paycheck, then I have to get a bank account and everything. Yikes.
A coffee was handed to me and the girl scurried off, probably to do more assistant work. I took a sip of my coffee, waiting to be ordered to do something.
"Okay, your my assistant now. I will teach you what I know, and you do what I ask of you." Nate said seriously, and I nodded quickly. "Right now, I want you to go clean some of these old cameras, then take them to someone who can fix them, unless you can fix them?" He asked me, taking a break from looking at his lenses, handing me a small box.
"I can fix them, probably. I could probably get a friend to do it for free if need be." I informed, and he nodded, shooing me away. "Um, where am I going?" I asked nervously, and he grumbled, pointing to a door that was on the opposite side of the room. Helpful.
I walked around nervously. I felt weird being here, carrying a box of old cameras, wandering. "Hey, I take it your cleaning those. Here, I'll show you where to take them." A girl said kindly, and I happily followed her.
"Thanks. I'm Percy, by the way." I said smiling. She smiled back at me.
"Sammy. I take it your new?" She asked and I nodded, blushing slightly. We walked in silence, and I was glad when she opened a door to a room that had clean, warm buckets of water and soap. This is where things got washed? Cool. There were clean dishes stored neatly, and a sink to refill buckets.
"Thanks." I said, and she nodded, walking away.
When I finally finished washing them and fixing them, it's only been three hours! I've been doing this for about three hours, now to get more work. On the slip of paper, it said I was getting 35 and hour, so I'm at 105 so far.
"Great, now you can do more." Nate laughed and I smiled shyly, silently decided I hate working a night and day job. Hey, at least I get paid. He gave me my next job, which was to organize some camera lenses or something. I looked at my phone, which was still powered off from last night.
When it finally powered on, I saw I missed a call from a random number. They called 4 times, it must be important, and it is probably one of my old friends. I called back anyways, coughing. "Percy!" I heard someone say on the phone, I could tell I was on speaker phone.
"Annabeth. I'm a busy guy and you are lucky I called back. What'd you want?" I asked impatiently, looking at the lenses carefully, cleaning them and placing them in colour order. I didn't even know lenses had colours!
"We want you back at camp." She said simply, and I laughed. Now they want me back? After she tried to pull that move back there a bit over a month ago? Not gonna happen. I've worked to hard to go back now.
"Not happening." I said, hanging up, and continued with my job. I have more important things to worry about, why they want me back is not on my list. Great, now I'm curious on why they want me back at camp. Is there another conflict they need me to solve? Did they find out I wasn't guilty of what they accused me of? I called Leo, because he was my go to person, other than Malcolm, who I was pretty sure was with the rest of the Athena cabin.
"Dude what's up." Leo said, and it sounds like he was driving somewhere, sweet so he is away from people.
"Why do the others want me back at camp? It's kinda bothering me." I said anxiously, thoughts overflowing my brain.
"I don't know. They started just going on about how you guys are best friends again. Annabeth said you and her got together again." Leo scoffed and I choked on thin air. She's telling people that? That's bull.
"Well tell everyone that it's false and if they need clarification they can shoot me a text." I grinned. "I gotta go, I got a job to do." I smirked, hanging up.
"Percy, this box came in for you, messenger said you would know what it's for." Nate shrugged, giving me the box. It was a small box, about the size of my hand, And it had nice red bowtie it. I opened the lid hesitantly, dropping the lid on the ground.
Inside the box was simply keys, seemingly for a vehicle, but I didn't have a vehicle? I decided I would finish what I was told to do then figure out this mystery.
And that's what I did, the day finished, and I was finally solving the mystery of the car keys. I waited until everyone was gone, deciding to work on improving my camera skills so I could hurry and get a raise. Anyways, I stepped outside, the chilly wind tossing my hair side to side. I huffed and quickly walked over towards the parking lot. There was only one vehicle, so I held out the keys and pressed the unlock button, and it beeped. I smirked.
It was a small, cheap and nice looking car that was a deep blue colour, but there was obvious rust, so it was an older car. I looked inside and there was slightly torn leather seats, but they were all washed. In the back there were 3 seats, and a box sat on them. I shrugged, deciding to wait to open the box. I sat down on the seat and sighed, closing my eyes.
