Chapter 3

"Hey."

Foxy looked up from his phone in surprise by the female voice that broke the silence of the library. A white vixen stood at the opposite end of the table looking down at him.

"Uh... Hi, Mangle." Foxy smiled nervously and put his phone down.

"You know study hall is a place to do your homework and not be on your phone." Mangle said knowingly while pulling out a seat and sitting down across from the fox.

He nervously chuckled while looking to his side. "Yeah..."

Mangle raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong?" She asked with an insightful smile on her face.

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"I can tell when something isn't right. And due to Chica's really cheesy friend spiel, we're supposedly friends now, and that means I'm supposed to ask what's wrong." Mangle explained.

"Uh... Nothing's wrong." Foxy wanted to change the subject.

"Girls aren't that easily persuaded, ya know." Mangle said flatly with her arms crossed.

"I've... Got an older brother." Foxy spoke nervously and quickly giving a small chuckle at the end while smiling in a 'trying to seal the deal' kind of way.

"And I've got a younger brother. So I can relate." She had a smile on her face. "So what is your brother doing that's bothering you so much?"

Foxy thought about it a bit for a short time then spoke. "Well... He graduated and is 19 right now. He's in college. He's on spring break and is home right now. I'm sure you can figure out the rest."

"Yeah I can." She smiled, sighing. "My brother's 12 and loves my personal life. Good thing I don't have a diary."

"Do girls actually keep those?" Foxy never knew if most girls actually took time to write all their personal thoughts and feelings in a book, then store it somewhere secret.

"We don't. At least not that I know of." She answered rolling her eyes happily.

Mangle's ears perked suddenly, causing her to reach down and pull out her phone. Foxy watched curiously.

"I thought study hall wasn't a place for phones." Foxy commented slyly.

"Homework's done." Mangle shot back then proceeded to look down at her phone. An annoyed and depressed expression came to her face. "I've got to go handle something." She said sadly, picking up her bag and pushing the chair back in.

"Oh... Okay. Uh... See you later then." Foxy waved questionably.

Mangle held up a hand signaling a wave and goodbye before she walked off.

Foxy was just glad that she bought his lie.

"Bonnie!" Chica ran over to the bunny that sat at a lunch table a bit away. She raised her hand high, and with her scream, the purple bunny picked his head up to see her.

"Hey Chica." He finally said as she approached. "Got another cheesy speech for me." He smirked.

"Oh my God! Everyone is bothering me about that. I didn't think it was that bad!" She complained sitting down in an empty seat next to Bonnie.

"You just said what was everyone's mind."

"And I learned that I shouldn't do that anymore because it will lead you to being made fun of by the same people who also thought it." Chica narrowed her eyes in annoyance, staring directly at Bonnie.

"You look mad." Bonnie mocked while taking a bite from his food. He thought. "Or salty." He added.

"Hey guys." Foxy approached the two and sat in a seat next to the large, purple bunny.

"Hey Foxy, Chica's salty so be polite." Bonnie replied quickly, pointing a thumb back at the bird.

Chica slowly shook her head no, not letting Bonnie see her do it.

"You're right, Bonnie. I can see it in her eyes." Foxy played along, pointing a finger at Chica.

The two boys both glared at Chica who was completely done with this conversation.

"I think I made a mistake." Chica rested her head on the lunch table, looking lazily at the other two.

"It was a good one." Bonnie comforted her while taking another bite of his food.

The two smiled at eachother for a few seconds. Foxy, confused, look back and forth at the two. "That's cheesy." He interrupted flatly.

"Oh my God, there you are!" Toy Chica came running up to the group, grabbing Chica's arm once she reached them. "I need to borrow Chica for a sec." Without a response, she pulled Chica out of her seat and ran away.

"Wha-" Bonnie asked confused, turning towards the fox on his right. Foxy only shook his head no, indicating it's not worth the trouble to get into the girls situation.

The rest of the day flew by in a flash. It was almost like Father Time decided this was the day to try to shorten the hour. Once the end of the day bell rang, high schoolers flooded the halls, and emptied through the doors to reach the buses.

Walking out of one of the less used doors, Foxy dragged his feet out to his red car that sat in a student parking lot.

He unlocked the car, opened a back door, and threw his bag inside. He then proceeded to sit in the driver's seat. He pulled out his phone and plugged his two ear buds in.

Before he could play a song, he heard a knock on the passenger window. He looked over and noticed a white vixen peering inside.

He rolled the window down so she could speak.

"Hey. Do you mind giving me a ride home? I kinda... don't have one anymore."

"Uh... yeah. Hop in." He unlocked the door for her to open and sit down next to him.

Foxy pulled his ear buds out and rolled the window back up.

"Thanks. My ride can... no longer take me." Mangle said softly while fidgeting with her bag. "I only live, like, two blocks from here." She looked over to Foxy with a small chuckle in her voice. "Just take a right out of here."

"I know." Foxy wasn't even thinking. Mangle looked over shocked and confused.

"Huh?"

Foxy perked up, realizing what he said. He never drove too many people around, and he doesn't realize what he says.

"I didn't mean that in a weird way. I've just seen you pull out of here a few times." He bit his lip, not taking his off of the road. He made the right turn, and continue along.

"Oh." Mangle leaded back, also looking forward as to direct Foxy where he was going. But it seemed like he didn't need to much of her help.

"So what happened to your ride?" Foxy nervously broke the silence.

"I rather not talk about it. I hope you don't mind though." She rubbed her her arm then proceeded on hugging herself.

"It's not a problem."

A few moments passed.

"Take a right up here."

After Foxy took the turn, he swiped a quick glance at the white vixen sitting next to him. She was staring gloomily at her bag in her lap.

"Did something happen today?" He knew it wasn't his place to ask, having only truly known her for two days. The words just felt right in the moment.

Mangle looked over, confused, not knowing if she would answer or not. "I haven't had the best day." It sounded like she has been wanting to say that for the entire school day.

Her attitude wasn't the same as the one she had when her and Foxy were talking in study hall. Her entire attitude had seemed different.

Foxy didn't really know what to say. Talking to Mangle had been hard for him.

"I'm this next neighborhood on the left. All the way at the end."

Foxy pulled in at the driveway. Mangle opened the door and stepped out of the car, slinging her bag on her shoulder.

"Thanks for the ride. See you tomorrow." She said into the car before closing it.

"See ya" Foxy watched her walk to the garage to punch in the code.

He pulled out before watching anymore, and continued on his path home.

He didn't play his music.
