Chapter 6
We went off in our groups to go find Win. I was paired up with Spider, which turned me into a red blushing mess.
"Where should we look first?" she asked. I held up my keycard.
"Why don't we try the elevators?" I asked. She nodded. We walked over to the elevators. I scanned the keycard. Beep! The door opened. Inside there were two buttons: a down and an up arrow. I tried the up arrow, but it didn't do anything. Spider slammed her fist on the down arrow, and the door shut.
We stood there awkwardly. Well, at least, I was awkward. I looked at Spider. Her composure was completely still. "So..." I said awkwardly. "What were you doing before you were abducted?"
"Just starting my final college essay," she said, staring right ahead. I turned bright red. So she was my senior. "What about you?"
I stood there, my mouth flapping open and closed like a dying fish. She looked over at me. "Are you okay?" I shook my head no, trying to get the words out of my mouth. She sighed, looking at me. Then, with a swift movement, she pressed me up against the wall and kissed me.
My eyes opened wide in shock. She pulled away. "Better now?" Spider asked.
"Uhhhhh.........." My face went from tomato red to beet red. "Yeah."
"So, what were you doing?" she said simply, as if nothing had happened between us.
"Oh, I was just working on a college essay too," I said. We both stared at the door in awkward silence. A ding noise sounded and the door clicked open
"Looks like we're here," she said. I nodded, and we walked out the open elevator door. There was a long hallway that lead two ways.
"Left or right?" I asked Spider.
"Let's go left," she replied. I nodded. We walked down the hall.
"Hey, what's that?" I asked. Before she could respond, I started running down the hall. In front of me was a large gray door. Painted onto it with red spray paint was a giant number. 6. I felt shaky. We had found the number 6 door. "Spider, come quick!"
I heard her heels clicking on the floor as Spider ran towards me. "What is it?" she yelled, losing her cool composure for a moment. She took a second to take in the door in front of her. "We found the number 6 door."
"We need to go tell the others," I said.
"Wait," Spider said, stopping me. "We need to see the other side of the hall." I nodded, running down to the other side. It was almost identical to the first one, except there was a different number painted on the door. 1. We had found all of the doors except the 2 and the 9 door.
Spider came up behind me. "Two doors," she breathed. "We only need to find 2 more and then we can get out."
"Let's go back up," I said. "It's been almost 15 minutes." She nodded, and I swiped the card back over the scanner. The elevator door slid open, and we got inside. I hit the up arrow, and up we went. The doors opened at the top, and we stumbled out of the elevator.
