。molly weasley
It was a cold December evening when Molly Weasley sat alone at home. She was knitting the Christmas presents for her husband, her sons and of course, her little daughter who was already asleep. She sat near the fire and enjoyed the warmth of the flames when suddenly an owl knocked onto the window. She made her way to it and let it in. After taking the letter it carried the owl flew away and she closed the window again. With a smile she sat down again and read. It was from her youngest son, Ron. But at the end of the writing the smile got slowly replaced by a frown. Even though she wasn't in the Order when it all first happened, she knew Lily and James from Hogwarts. It was impossible not to. In addition, when Lily and Alice got pregnant her brother Gideon brought the two young women to her so that she could tell them a bit about pregnancies. After all she had given birth to already five boys and a sixth child was coming. The three grew together, got good friends and shared their thoughts and fears. Then Lily and Alice had to go into hiding and shortly after Molly lost her brothers. Even though she had a full time job as mom and not much time, especially after the twins grew because they were full of mischief, she still missed the time with her friends. Of course she had other friends from Hogwarts but enough of them had left the country and some of them were already dead.
So when she got a letter from Ronald, saying that his best friend Harry wasn't expecting any presents because he hasn't got anyone left, she decided that she will try and take over the place from her dearly loved friend Lily. She wanted to try and be a second mother for Harry. After all, one more doesn't matter if you've got already seven. Also she wanted to be the best possible friend, even though her friend was already dead.
At the end she didn't just knit eight jumpers for her family, she knitted two more. One of those was for Harry and the other one was for a young and brave boy whose mother also couldn't knit him a jumper. The mother wasn't dead but some say it was worse than death. The boy was Neville Longbottom and Molly knew Alice would have loved to send her son jumpers. She probably would have sent way too many and the whole castle could get one. With that thought, Molly Weasley finished the last stitch at Neville's jumper and started crying silently. Crying for all those people that were lost in a war.
