Chapter Three; New Parts

I feel a cold grip on my shoulders from behind me and a pair of hands clutching my legs. My fists fly at a face, but my hands get caught by yet another man. How many are there? I feel a sharp pang in my thigh and I go limp. The men holding me now control where my arms and legs go and I could only watch and internally scream.
"Careful with her." Charles warns through the speaker. Men drag me painfully out of my room and up the stairs. We go through a hallway lined with doors and open up into a single door at the end of the hallway. Inside, is Charles. I wanted to punch that stupid smug look off his face.
I am sat down in a cushiony chair and forced to look at Charles. He gets up from his own seat and saunters toward me. In his hand is a clipboard and pen. He wears the usual blue gloves just the any other doctor. If only he was normal.
"If the medication wares of, she'll start to have a fit again." The men still have a good grasp on my arms and horns. I guess they didn't want to take any chances of me smacking them in the head.
"What do you want?" I sneer. Charles can only glance down at the board and read off what it said.
"Abbi. Due for operation three on March fifteenth, twenty-eighteen." I gasp. That was in two days. I had to get out fast, or I'll never live to see another day.
"What's the operation for?" I query.
"We wanted to wait until your wings were fully grown, but that'll take about a week or so. We just decided to give you a tail for the heck of it." I push myself further into my chair, wishing to sink into it forever.
"No other reason? Just because your bored?" The medication was already waring off and I could almost move freely. I push myself an inch out of the chair. The men don't seem to mind, they just let me do whatever.
"There are other reasons. I just don't need you to know. Wouldn't want you to cause more trouble." I pounce at him and claw at his arms and face. The clipboard and pen clatter to the ground. Men are hauling me away from him, but I use my minuscule wings to blind them. Not entirely, just so they don't see. My fury doesn't last long, better armed guards come to the doctors aid and pull me off.
"This is all you get to do to me. I swear, touch me one for time, there's going to be more than just scratches and cuts on your skin." I bare my teeth. Oh god, I was becoming just like a caged animal. Charles grabs a handkerchief out of his pocket and wipes the dots of blood off his face.
"Just take her back to her room. No dinner or breakfast." They drag me back being more aware of my wing and eye movements.
They sling me back and slam the door. It clicks and heavy footsteps pound away from me. I ponder about the operation.

Why are they even doing this?

I must've said this out loud by accident because I got an unexpected reply, "Well, you are the healthiest we could find. We just picked up your medical files from actual doctors and hospitals. It was pretty simple to be honest considering they believed we were one of them." My blood boils at the voice.
"Why wings?" I sit on the bed and take in the room.
"Almost every scientist was doing it, so why not? I want to be popular too you know." Seriously? That can't be the only thing.
"Are you really giving me a tail?" In two days. That's all the time I had to escape and it was coming faster than anticipated. The first day was almost over. Maybe around 11:00 p.m?
"Yeah. I wanted to be a little original while experimenting. Did you want talons to go with it?"
"Of course not!" I exclaim. Why would I want those? Actually, you can use them to get out. Kill anyone who dares block your escape. I was getting crazier every minute I was here.
"Too bad. It's not like you'll ever choose what I get to do. Make that operation tomorrow. I don't know how long both will take. Get some sleep. You'll only be on a numbing medication." I growl. Now I have to get out.
"Watch that attitude." I lay back on the metal bed. From all the events that happened today, I would expect to be a little tired, but not this tired.

I jolt forward and feel a slight touch in my feathers. Charles.
"Sorry to wake you. Your wings are growing in quickly and I might be able to get you training in the next couple days." My eyes light up, this was my chance. If I excel at flight, I could leave. Having to kill a few people wouldn't hurt, right?
"Get up. I have a gown here. A hospital bed will come over to pick you up. Your operation starts soon." My stomach does summersaults and my head holds worried thoughts.
How will I even get out before the surgery?" I slip the gown on and throw my clothes in the corner where I can put them back on later. The doer swings open and nurses are there with the bed. Maybe this was all to scare me into following their orders.
"We don't have all day, miss." I hop onto the bed and tuck my wings behind me. They had grown much and I could feel the soft feathers rgrazing on my back.
"Those are beautiful. Too bad no one else will see them." A gloomy nurse says while wheeling the bed into a room. There were heart monitors, needles, computers, and much more strange equipment scattered throughout. Charles walks in with the happiest smile on his face.
"I can't wait! This should only take four or five hours and thirty minutes for you to actually become vulnerable to everything again."
"Yeah, so exciting." I mutter sarcastically and roll my eyes. What am I still doing here?
"Remember what I said about that tone last night?" He reminds me of our conversation. Maybe he can answer some more of my questions that still linger in my head. Surgeons walk in with gloves and masks, making it hard to identify their faces. Two push me back and stay my arms and legs in. They even felt the need to chain my horns to the wall. I am left alone with my thoughts.
The sharp pain brings me back to reality and I can't feel a thing. They have a limb. A lizard tail to be exact. They undid every strap and too flip me over. One adjusted my head so it wasn't buried in the pillow. I could feel slight pressure as they sliced open my skin and connected different parts to the tail.
They finally got to connecting the tail to me. They stitched it on and let it flip over to the side before sterilizing that too.
They grabbed a vile and needle, while laying me on my back. I feel a sharp prick in my wrist and the heart monitor picks up. Doesn't that mean my heart rate is going faster? I don't know anymore.
There was a full pain in my nails that ran up through my hand. Something was growing there. The talons! They grew fast and they rested under my human nail.
"How long until she is free to move?" It was Charles. Has he been watching the whole time?
"Maybe like an hour or so. Just be careful with her, the tail and talons you requested can do some heavy damage on her opposers." This gave me much more hope. The talons, they do some heavy damage he said. What about the tail though? How was that supposed to do anything? I couldn't tell, but I could tell that I was slowly regaining my freedom.
I jolt up and sharp daggers shoot out of my nails. I gasp and Charles rushes to me. He grabs my hands. He stares at them in satisfaction. My monitor beeps slightly faster, he gets the message and lets go.
