Hoofprints in the Snow

Snow billowed everywhere. The world quickly turning white every way I looked. not a single sound could be heard over the sound of the howling wind. White, cold snow enveloped my vision until I could barely see the next hoof print in the snow.
Each print I had been following, disappeared as fast as they had been made. Cupping my hands, I held them up to my mouth blowing warm air into them, willing them to not go numb with cold.
Turning in slow circles I searched for the path that I had taken into this December storm. But that to had disappeared. Shivering in this icy chill I looked till my hands had finally gone numb. Sighing as I found I could t find anything that marked the trail, I moved in small circles trying anything to keep my body warm until I saw four dark hoof prints in the snow. Freezing like the ice itself I slowly looked up to find two warm brown eyes staring back at me.
Hit breaths of air seemed to melt the icy air around her. Reaching my hand up slowly a warm dark grey nose met the palm of my hand. The Numbness melting away l, nearly laughing in relief U looked up into those warm brown eyes,
"Ready to go home girl?" Those eyes blinked at me and I wrapped my arms around her neck, her warmth seeping into me. Letting her go I looked through the flurry of snowflakes searching for the fallen tree I had seen moments earlier. Finally I spotted it and trudged over silently willing her to follow. Turning back I saw more hoof prints in the snow as she trailed after me and four hoof prints standing to me right. Smiling softly I climbed into the fallen tree and she lined herself up next to me.
Allowing me to use her to stabilize myself on the icy tree. As soon as I was by her side I realized this tree would never be tall enough to allow me to climb onto her back. Sighing in defeat I eased myself down onto the branch sitting I looked up at her. The snowflakes on her eyelashes making her look even more white and surreal then before. Turning her body she nudged me with her nose almost as it to ask why we weren't going home yet.
I buried my face in my hands. Hope of me making it through the snow was useless. She could make it home but I don't think she would without me. Hearing a thumb and feeling the disappearance of her warmth, I lifted my head to see 5 dark spots in the snow. My hands shock as I stared in shock realizing she had laid down for me. Her warm brown eyes blinking up at me, waiting for me. Getting up I walked over to her side. Wrapping her wet yet soft mane around my hands I swung my leg cleanly over her back. Holding tightly she stood like a bear shaking off the seasons hibernation. Gripping with my legs as I felt her take off into a sure footed canter. I shivered as the wind howled in my ears and I crouched down lower against her neck as she carried me away. I wasn't sure I could find my way home but I trusted she knew where we were going. So I let her carry me through the storm.
Leaving behind a trail of nothing but hoof prints in the snow.

Soooo what'd you guys think? This is my entry for KayKay_0824 And Saddle-Up s December writing contest! I went with the write a short story in December theme!
