Will to Love Part 4
Friday
A week had passed since Wei Ying's arrival in hospital and the day had come for him to be discharged.
Every day he had been examined by XiChen, who when Wei Ying had first discovered who he was, had been shocked at the resemblance between the brothers. Now he was sitting on the edge of his bed, doing up his pyjama top after being examined.
"You'll need to get the wound dressed for at least a few more weeks." XiChen was telling him.
"I can help with that." Lan Zhan replied, re-entering the room. He had just come from dumping his clothes in his car. He shuddered at the memory, and forced himself to forget it.
"He'll also need help to shower." XiChen was looking at Wei Ying's chart and do missed the reddening of a certain pair of ears.
"Can also help with that." Lan Zhan muttered, this time his golden gaze had pinned Wei Ying.
And Wei Ying let himself blush the colour of a beetroot, wisely remaining silent.
A-Yuan and Wen Qing were colouring on the low table, and Wen Qing had already expressed a desire to return to her work.
"Are you going back to work, A-Xian?" XiChen asked, scratching his chin.
"No...not after that. I don't think I can look Wen Chao in the face..." Wei Ying admitted, soberly.
"Ah...that's good news." XiChen exclaimed, rather too excitedly.
Lan Zhan narrowed his eyes at his brother, wondering what he was up to.
XiChen shook his head minutely, not wanting to say anything else.
Well, two could play at that...
"Xiongzhang, can we swap cars? We are four and Wei Ying's things...won't fit in mine." Lan Zhan tossed his keys towards his brother and caught the ones his brother threw back. "There might be a bit of laundry to do, too." He grinned, shamelessly.
"That's okay, Didi. I'll sort that out for you." XiChen beamed back at him, totally unaware of what he was getting himself into.
"I'll go get the car." Lan Zhan went to Wei Ying and took his hands, squeezing them gently. He leaned forward and kissed his forehead. "I'll be back in five."
Wei Ying watched him go, a wistful look on his face.
"You really like my brother, huh?" XiChen murmured, taking in all the nuances on his face.
Wei Ying blushed.
"So what if he does?" Wen Qing spoke up, standing between Wei Ying and XiChen, suddenly.
"Er...A-Qing...XiChen-Ge means well..." Wei Ying stood up to place his hand on her shoulder, which she shrugged off immediately, glaring at him to shut up.
Then she turned that glare onto XiChen.
"I asked you a question." She enunciated.
XiChen was quite sure he had asked the question, but Wen Qing was looking far too scary to argue with.
"That's good, that's all I was saying." He replied, taking a step back. "My brother is besotted with you, and I just hoped it was reciprocated, that's all." His voice was getting quieter and quieter. "Anyway, here are your papers, and if there's anything else, you know where to find me."
XiChen fled.
Wen Qing snickered.
Lan Zhan came back with a wheelchair, and he was given an approving look.
But Wei Ying pouted.
"I'm not getting into that." He crossed his arms over his chest.
Lan Zhan looked over and smiled at A-Yuan who was watching the whole interaction with interest. He stood up and went to hug Wei Ying's thigh possessively.
"But Baba... I wanna sit on your lap and ride..." He pouted too.
Lan Zhan left the wheelchair by the bed and came over. He cupped Wei Ying's face gently and gave him a quick kiss.
"Please? For me?" He pouted too.
"Oh my God! How can I say no now? Both of you???" Wei Ying slapped a hand over his eyes, and let himself be led to the wheelchair. Once he had sat down, Lan Zhan high-fived A-Yuan and picked him up to seat him in Wei Ying's lap.
"I feel like a mug...you know, one of those poor sods who regularly gets swindled on street corners." Wei Ying's face was redder than a London bus.
"We don't know what you're talking about." Lan Zhan replied airily, and began wheeling them out.
Wen Qing picked up anything they had accumulated and followed them out.
*******
Back at Wei Ying's apartment, Lan Zhan had decided to spend the night sleeping on his couch, because he wasn't sure how much Wei Ying would need him and what if Wei Ying would need to get up in the middle of the night? What if he needed assistance then?
So far, on the second night in hospital, Lan Zhan had tried to go to sleep on his own bed. Wei Ying had looked tired so they had shared one last kiss before separating.
But try as he might, Lan Zhan tossed and turned but could not get rid of the feeling that something was missing. And then, when all was quiet, there was a voice in the dark.
"Lan Zhan?"
"Mn?"
"I can't sleep."
Lan Zhan had gotten up and fetched him some water.
"Thank you...but...I'm not...I don't think I'm thirsty." Wei Ying was sitting up in his bed, but staring at his hands and not looking up.
Lan Zhan placed a finger under his chin and lifted his beautiful face up.
"What do you need?" He had asked, ever so kindly.
Just his tone made tears well up in Wei Ying's eyes.
"You."
Lan Zhan had held him close and they had both gone to sleep just like that.
But now Wei Ying was back home, he may not need Lan Zhan like when he was trying to sleep at the hospital. So far, they had spent every night sleeping together since then. However, Wei Ying's own bed might be more comfortable to Wei Ying now and he might not need Lan Zhan as much.
Which was sad for Lan Zhan to accept because now, he was worried about himself. What if he couldn't sleep by himself any more? What if his body had conditioned himself to sleep only with Wei Ying?
Well, he was going to find out tonight.
In the meantime, he thought he would rustle up an early dinner for everyone, and he invited Wen Qing too. She brought along basic ingredients, saying Wei Ying wouldn't have anything in his refrigerator because she hadn't seen the point of wasting food and had used it all up. Lan Zhan made a mental note of needing to go shopping the following day.
She chopped up what he needed and Lan Zhan cooked, thinking they made a good team. Wei Ying had tried to help and they both had turned around to tell him a joint no.
Then Lan Zhan had picked him up and put him on the couch, handing him the TV remote too, but Wei Ying had clung to him, with that irresistible pouting.
"Lan Zhaaan ... how shall I concentrate on sitting here, when you're all the way over there?" He had fluttered his eyelashes meaningfully. "I deserve compensation..."
Lan Zhan had smirked at his blatant flirting, but a part of him had sighed an infatuated sigh...This side of Wei Ying was simply adorable...
"And what does Wei Ying think he should get, for his troubles?" Lan Zhan was holding his torso carefully, hoping not to irritate his wound.
Wei Ying shivered, feeling the heat of his big hands through his thin cotton shirt.
"At least three kisses." He decided, holding up three fingers.
"One. And a hot meal." Lan Zhan negotiated, unable to stop smiling.
"I'm getting the hot meal anyway, it's not on the table."
"What about a really hot kiss, longer than a normal one?" Lan Zhan hedged.
"Nope. You know as well as I do, every one of your kisses are hot. Don't be stingy..."
"Alright, alright, two. That's my final offer."
Wei Ying had licked his lips in anticipation and nodded, and that's all it took for Lan Zhan to pounce.
It was only afterwards they had noticed A-Yuan minding his own business colouring in on the living room table.
Lan Zhan had tucked a mischievous Wei Ying on the couch with a blanket and returned to the kitchen to resume cooking.
Tonight they were making vegetable pasta, and Lan Zhan took his portion out before adding the meat and the spices.
Dinner was a lively event filled with the chatter of the day's events as everyone unwound. Wen Qing helped them to clean up and then she returned to her own place.
"A-Yuan! It's time for bed!" Wei Ying had called out, when he had returned from showering.
He looked at the little table where two black heads leaned together, busy colouring in.
"But Baba...I haven't finished yet." A-Yuan pouted.
"But tomorrow's Saturday and you have the whole day to finish." Wei Ying came and sat stiffly behind his boy, on the couch.
Lan Zhan stood up and went to the kitchen.
Wei Ying ruffled his hair, smiling at A-Yuan and wondering when it was his boy had suddenly grown up. Had three years passed by already? How was that even possible?
He blinked back tears.
A-Yuan was alarmed and stood up immediately, hugging his neck.
"Alright, Baba. I'm sorry...I'll go to bed right now."
"Oh my beautiful boy...I love you so much!" Right now, as Wei Ying hugged him back, all he could think about was how precious every second with his son was, and how much of a gift Lan Zhan had given him by keeping him alive.
He vowed to make good choices from now on, to do what felt right, rather than what he thought he should do. Life and death were two sides of a coin, and one or the other was as easy as flipping it over. He could have died that day, and missed ever being able to hold his baby like this ever again.
"I love you too, Baba." A-Yuan smiled shyly. "And Gege." He whispered in Wei Ying's ear.
"You do?" Wei Ying was taken aback but so pleased by that.
"Mn. Can I have a story?" A-Yuan looked up at him, his chocolate eyes full of serious mischief.
"Yes, of course you can!"
"Two! Because otherwise Gege will feel sad!" He pouted again.
Wei Ying beamed at this genius side of his little boy.
"Alright, let's ask him." Wei Ying was ready to give him anything he asked for at this moment, still reeling from his epiphany.
Lan Zhan returned with a glass of water and two painkillers.
Wei Ying looked up and smiled, taking both.
"How did you know?"
"Trained professional." Lan Zhan frowned. "If Wei Ying was in pain, why didn't he say anything?"
"I thought it would go away when I fell asleep." He put on his brightest smile after chugging down both. "But A-Yuan and I would like to ask you something."
"In a minute." Lan Zhan returned to the kitchen and just paused, wondering how to deal with .... with that.
Wei Ying's smile, so pure and innocent and so trusting, had totally caught him off guard, and now his heart was beating a mile a minute. He quickly rinsed out the glass and left it to dry, taking deep breaths to calm himself down.
He was shocked at himself for wanting to kiss Wei Ying's mouth so suddenly, like a need that could not be quenched. It was physical, something so strong that it was gut-wrenching that he could not act on it immediately.
He returned to the expectant father and son and sat down beside them.
"Mn?"
"A-Yuan wants two stories, one from each of us." Wei Ying licked his lips nervously. What if Lan Zhan said no? Maybe he shouldn't have asked...
"Only if A-Yuan promises to go to sleep straight after." Lan Zhan smiled at the little boy, also ruffling his hair.
A-Yuan threw his little arms around Lan Zhan’s neck happily. "I promise. Come on! Let's go!"
He had already changed into his pyjamas and A-Yuan climbed into his bed with his chosen stories.
Wei Ying was watching all of this with the biggest smile on his face. Lan Zhan was brilliant at this! Who knew?
"Can you sit next to him, Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying asked, sitting on the edge of the bed and trying to find a comfortable position.
Lan Zhan noticed and handed him a pillow so his back had some support, before settling in next to A-Yuan, who immediately put his first book in Lan Zhan's big hands.
Wei Ying was already yawning by the time A-Yuan turned over and fell asleep straight away after giving them both his goodnight kiss.
Lan Zhan got a pillow but he needed a blanket for the couch...
Wei Ying was already eyeing it in his hands.
"Um..what are you doing, Lan Zhan?" He sidled up to him, those beautiful silver starlight eyes sparkling in the lights of the living room.
"I...was...going to...sleep...there." Lan Zhan pointed in the vague direction of the couch, struggling to string a sentence together.
Wei Ying took his hand and led him to his bedroom.
"Silly boy, don't you know I can't sleep without you?"
And that was the end of that....
********
The next week brought a few surprises.
Lan Zhan extended his leave and since he was owed many days off, he could stay with Wei Ying for a few weeks more.
Wei Ying resigned from his job, and immediately started looking for another one online, which he could do from home. He was already bored, but he knew Lan Zhan had a point when he suggested that Wei Ying use this time to fully heal and relax before going back to work.
Wei Ying wanted to listen to him, but he knew his job was what put food on their table, and it was only a matter a time before the savings would run out.
But on the Thursday before Easter, Wei Ying received two separate phone calls, both with surprising news.
The first was from a lawyer, retained by a person who wished to remain anonymous, a well-wisher, the man said. He had been hired to investigate the case of gross negligence by the City Council and without it going to court, he had won a settlement for just over half a million dollars for Wei Ying, to be paid directly into his account, for damages. The lawyer had said Wei Ying should invest and if he did it wisely, he may never have to work again...and he was there as part of the retainer from the anonymous benefactor to help. He invited Wei Ying to make an appointment to see him as soon as possible.
Wei Ying had hung up with a dazed look in his eyes, and Lan Zhan had seen enough. He had been sitting next to Wei Ying, playing with his fingers all the time Wei Ying had been answering with little noises, but now he had put the phone down, and still wasn't saying anything, he was worried.
So he lifted Wei Ying onto his lap and held him close, kissing his hair. He wasn't sure whether it was Wei Ying's shampoo, or if this was just the natural smell of the man, but Lan Zhan loved it. He loved going to sleep with Wei Ying's head tucked under his chin, and that lovely fragrance floating all around them. Wei Ying was beautiful.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
His deep voice never failed to make Wei Ying shiver, bringing him out of his thoughts.
"Not....wrong...Good news, I think." Wei Ying smiled and told him everything.
"Who could it be?" He wondered aloud.
"What is the name of your lawyer?" Lan Zhan asked, thinking hard.
He made sure his face stayed the same after Wei Ying told him. But he knew exactly who the anonymous benefactor was now.
Before Wei Ying could ask, his phone rang again, and this time, the shock and annoyance on Wei Ying's face had Lan Zhan on edge immediately.
Wei Ying answered reluctantly.
"DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DID? THEY FIRED ME!" Wen Chao was spiralling, launching into a verbal tirade that Lan Zhan could hear clearly because Wei Ying had to hold the phone away from him, Wen Chao was so loud.
And he wasn't letting Wei Ying speak at all. Wei Ying rolled his eyes as the noise continued.
"May I?" Lan Zhan gestured towards the phone.
"Go for it." Wei Ying beamed when Lan Zhan plucked the phone out of his hands.
"Wrong number." He said into the receiver and hung up, and then he blocked that number.
He tossed the phone to the side and sat up, capturing Wei Ying's lips in one smooth movement, having been wanting to do this since they woke up. One hand held Wei Ying’s head firmly in place, while the other hand began exploring, teasing the edge of Wei Ying's t-shirt.
Wei Ying shivered again and pressed himself closer, moaning at the sudden invasion of a hot persistent tongue, intent on exploring all the hidden pleasure spots inside his mouth. Insistent lips bruised and perused, tasting the delight that kissing his Wei Ying always brought him, and Lan Zhan felt humbled that Wei Ying was melting in his arms.
His injury had mostly healed now and the bandages had gone. His warm palm was mapping out the bare skin under Wei Ying's white t-shirt, feeling the smooth expanse of hot skin...hot kissable skin...and Lan Zhan wanted more.
"Wen Qing is picking up A-Yuan today, right?" He asked Wei Ying suddenly, frantically, looking at his watch.
"Huh? Yeah..." Wei Ying struggled to bring his mind back from the waves of pleasure assaulting his mind and body. He turned Lan Zhan's wrist towards himself so he could read the time. "But Lan Zhan, there's ages to go before then, why mfph-"
Lan Zhan kissed him again, and stood up simultaneously, taking him into the bedroom.
Wei Ying was right, they had ages to do what he needed to do, right away.
The door slammed shut, and Wei Ying finally got it.
*********
Sunday
Easter Sunday was going to be fun.
Lan Zhan loved rabbits, as much as A-Yuan did, and their local petting zoo had organised an Easter Egg hunt, and today, Wei Ying, Lan Zhan and A-Yuan were going as a family.
Wen Qing was bringing her brother along to take A-Yuan to lunch after that, and she said she would be bringing him back in the evening, which had given Wei Ying another idea.
Ever since Lan Zhan and he had taken the next step in their relationship, Wei Ying was becoming more adventurous and he had found something online to make Lan Zhan go crazy...it was just an added benefit that it was coincidentally Easter as well...
They were following A-Yuan around a miniature maze where they had already found five chocolate mini eggs, and it was so exciting to see the look on A-Yuan's face when he found them.
Even Lan Zhan was getting into it.
"Haven't you ever been on one of these before?" Wei Ying had wondered.
"Mn. Never." Lan Zhan had pulled him in for a quick kiss, easy to do because they had been holding hands all this time.
"Well, okay, let's spice things up." Wei Ying leaned against him to whisper in his ear, his hot breath making Lan Zhan shiver.
He raised a brow quizzically.
"The first one to five gets a surprise...later." Wei Ying couldn’t resist licking that suddenly red ear.
Lan Zhan turned his head for a searing kiss, ending with a bite.
In the end, their family found fifteen chocolate eggs.
Lan Zhan kept five, wondering if there was a way he could enjoy them somewhere else...
Wen Qing and Wen Ning arrived then and hasty goodbyes were called out, and now, Wei Ying was fuelled by anxious urgency. They had come by car, and he almost ran to it, quickly sitting inside and opening his window.
There were three air freshners already hanging off the centre mirror and Wei Ying opened another one just to be safe.
Lan Zhan sat down in the driver's seat and opened his window, finally having decided where he was going to stick the eggs...
"I really wonder what XiChen-Ge did in your car..." Wei Ying wrinkled his nose at the whiff of something stale and distasteful still lingering despite their efforts.
"Mn," Lan Zhan replied, noncommittally.
He got them home in record time, and was pulling Wei Ying along, when he decided it was taking too long and scooped him up into his arms, taking the steps two at a time.
Wei Ying marvelled at the fact that he wasn't even out of breath, lowering Wei Ying so he could fit his key into the lock.
They went straight into the bedroom.
"Um...my love...I have..um...a surprise for you." Wei Ying blushed.
Now that the time had come, he was truly embarrassed. Why had it seemed like such a good idea before?
"So do I..." Lan Zhan showed him his stash. "I want to..." He explained quickly, seeing the hot desire and agreement on Wei Ying's face as the realisation dawned.
"Omg...yes..." but he was still blushing.
"What is it?" Lan Zhan lifted his beautiful face and kissed him deeply, his tongue magically ridding Wei Ying of all thoughts.
"Er..." Wei Ying took his hand and eased it under his clothes.
For one second, Lan Zhan was confused as his fingers tugged on something soft and fluffy.
"Is this...a tail?" He tugged harder and Wei Ying moaned, nodding.
That's all he had to say for Lan Zhan to pounce...

The end....
I can hear you all from here.....
But it IS Easter, and I have a couple of hours to spare, so this is YOUR bonus...and after it's finished, we. Are. DONE.
OKAY???
BONUS CHAPTER BIT THINGY
A year had passed since Wei Ying and Lan Zhan had basically moved in together, although nothing had been formally agreed.
Lan Zhan was falling more and more in love with Wei Ying and A-Yuan day by day...and now, he wanted to do something special for both of them.
Today, Wen Qing had dragged Wei Ying out shopping, and neither A-Yuan nor Lan Zhan had wanted to go with her. A-Qing could be frightening whenever she was let loose with a shopping trolley and Lan Zhan was still traumatised after his first time.
He and A-Yuan were sitting calmly, colouring together.
Colouring in was so relaxing and fun, that Lan Zhan enjoyed it immensely, seeing it as the balancing factor in his life - his job as a paramedic was so stressful that he needed to unwind when he finished his shifts. And doing it with A-Yuan made it extra special.
"A-Yuan?" Lan Zhan put his pencil down. "Can I ask you something? I need your help, if you say yes."
A-Yuan stopped what he was doing and faced him fully.
Lan Zhan took his little pudgy hands in his and stroked the dimples in between his knuckles, smiling at how soft his baby hands were still.
"You know I love you, right?"
A-Yuan nodded, his big chocolate eyes round and serious.
"I love you too, Gege." He reassured him.
Lan Zhan leaned forward and kissed the top of his head.
"I want to marry your Baba...what do you think?" He held his breath, waiting for A-Yuan to answer.
A-Yuan was already nodding.
"I think Baba will like that." He tugged on his hands and once Lan Zhan let go, A-Yuan climbed into his lap and kissed his cheek, happiness all over his face. "I will have two Babas!" He exclaimed excitedly.
Lan Zhan cried.
*******
Now that he had gotten permission to ask, Lan Zhan was even more nervous about asking. So he did what he always did when he was worried: he called his brother.
"Xiongzhang...I need to talk to you...please." He didn't even pause to greet him.
XiChen knew it was serious straight away.
"I'll come to you." He promised.
They met outside the hospital and XiChen blanched when Lan Zhan offered his car, instead promising that he would drop Lan Zhan off when they were done.
They found a quiet coffee shop with parking.
"What is it, Didi?" XiChen put a pastry in his plate.
Lan Zhan poured green tea from the teapot they had borrowed.
His long fingers began tearing into the soft pastry, his eyes unseeing as he contemplated what he wanted to say.
XiChen waited patiently, knowing his baby brother would say what was on his mind when he was good and ready.
"I want to ask Wei Ying to marry me." He lifted his golden eyes to XiChen's darker ones, at the moment instantly filling with tears.
XiChen stood up and went around to his side, and pulled him up into a fierce hug.
For the first time in weeks, Lan Zhan relaxed fully, the stress oozing out of him like sap from a rubber tree.
"But I don't know how to." Lan Zhan looked miserable.
XiChen kissed his forehead warmly.
"Didi, you're worrying about nothing. A-Xian loves you so much...he'll definitely say yes."
He patted Lan Zhan's back for good measure and went to sit down opposite him again.
"I want it to be special." Lan Zhan insisted.
"As long as it comes from there," XiChen pointed to his heart, "it doesn't matter where you do it. Just ask him." He finished confidently. "Have you bought him a ring?"
Lan Zhan nodded shyly, smiling.
"Can I see?" XiChen asked, breathlessly, feeling terribly excited on his behalf.
Instead of pulling out a box as XiChen expected, Lan Zhan undid the necklace from around his neck, something that XiChen hadn't even noticed he was wearing.
He looked at the twin platinum bands, heavy in his palm, one smaller than the other. There was an inscription on the inside of both of them, with a date.
"When we met." Lan Zhan explained, at his questioning glance. "Arrived this morning."
He had seen them and once out of the box, Lan Zhan couldn't bear to pack them away again.
"Aww...Didi...that's so sweet...he'll definitely say yes. I didn't know you were so romantic!"
XiChen smiled at his red ears.
They chatted about the hospital and their Uncle.
"Uncle likes A-Xian...he's happy for you already, and he adores A-Yuan...such a sweet boy." XiChen added as they stood up to leave.
"Mn." But Lan Zhan was distracted.
He was quiet all the way back to the hospital. When XiChen pulled up outside his car, he gave his baby brother another boosting hug.
"Don't think too much about it, Didi. The important thing is just asking him. You'll know when the time is right." XiChen smiled warmly, leaving before Lan Zhan could open his car door.
XiChen already knew what he was going to gift them both as a wedding present, and so what if it had four wheels?
Back at home, Lan Zhan smiled briefly at that word, before opening the door. From the wonderful smell emanating from their kitchen, he guessed that Wei Ying had ordered takeaway again. His stomach rumbled, because today he had been busy with one emergency after another and there hadn't been time to catch a bite.
But Wei Ying always seemed to know when that happened.
A-Yuan had already eaten, judging by the candy wrapper next to his colouring book.
He beamed at Lan Zhan, pointing out a specific place.
"I saved it for you, Gege."
"After he's eaten, okay sweetheart?" Wei Ying came out of the kitchen, smiling at both of them.
Wei Ying grinned at Lan Zhan and took his hand when he had taken off his shoes and coat. Lan Zhan was brought to the kitchen sink and as soon as he finished washing his hands, Wei Ying wrapped his arms around his neck and kissed him sweetly.
"I've been waiting all day to do that!" He pouted. "How's my hero?"
"Better for coming home to Wei Ying." Lan Zhan replied sincerely, feeling a little but guilty for not coming home straight away.
But he wanted to surprise Wei Ying and it wouldn't do to tell him about the meeting with his brother.
"I ordered your favourite." Wei Ying made him sit down and uncovered still hot dishes. He pushed a pair of chopsticks into his hands and sat down opposite to his own bowl, extra spicy.
"I also ordered fortune cookies..." Wei Ying added, when they had finished.
Lan Zhan made a face, but there was a gleam in Wei Ying's eyes.
Lan Zhan thought back to what his brother had told him. It wasn't supposed to matter where he asked, not if coming home was Wei Ying.
It didn't matter where they were, as long as they were together, Wei Ying, A-Yuan and himself. Love was expressed in the ordinary, the day to day, the silly must do tasks like washing the dishes, cooking for each other, even if it might be inedible in Wei Ying's case.
Love was visible in the mundane things, the little pockets of happiness that they shared every second of every day, when every second they spent apart felt like a hundred years...
Tears gathered in his eyes...Lan Zhan felt silly for worrying about it now.
Wei Ying gasped and planted himself in Lan Zhan's lap, wiping away his tears.
"My love...what's wrong?" He asked tenderly. He pushed away the plate of fortune cookies. "I didn't know they would upset you that much...we don't have to do that..." but he looked so disappointed.
"It's not...that." Lan Zhan choked back his emotions.
He reached up and undid his necklace, opening Wei Ying's palm and dropping the rings into it.
He watched as Wei Ying's eyes widened with understanding.
Frightened silver eyes stared back at him, and even as Lan Zhan watched the swirling eruption of changing emotions, the fear was replaced with determination...and love.
Fierce, true and bright, just like his Wei Ying.
Wei Ying reached over and grabbed a particular fortune cookie.
"Open it." He demanded, urgently.
Lan Zhan took a deep breath and cracked open the fragile pastry.
Two rings fell out.
He looked up at Wei Ying's face, now tears gathering in his eyes too.
"Don't cry..." Lan Zhan couldn't bear it.
He kissed them away.
"Yes, I'll marry you, if you if you marry me first." He vowed.
Wei Ying crashed their lips together, pulling on the tufts of Lan Zhan’s hair at the nape of his neck, inciting a low growl from the depths of Lan Zhan’s throat. The kiss became desperate, a dominance that was hungry from the get go, hot lips fighting for control.
Lan Zhan devoured him, his lips going in for the thrill, the scorching heat that enveloped them both, this taste of Wei Ying flooding his every sense.
Thoughts fled as they consumed each other and nothing else was left.
Chests heaving, Wei Ying rested his head against Lan Zhan's shoulder, panting.
Lan Zhan took his hand and fixed the ring on his third finger, kissing it afterwards.
Wei Ying did the same with his, finishing with a lingering kiss on Lan Zhan’s lips, only too ready to bite.
"I love you." He whispered, fervently.
"As I love you." Lan Zhan promised.
"And I love both you!" A-Yuan ran and hugged both of them.
Lan Zhan lifted him up to sit on both of their laps, and they kissed each side of his cheeks.
Family was this feeling, family meant belonging, family was love.
The End
