Izuku gazed into Katsuki's eyes and grabbed his hands. "I love you..." Izuku whispers. Katsuki's eyes widened. He received his answer. "I-I still l-love you! Kac-Kacchan, I still—"
Warm. He was so warm.
His lips were so warm. And his hands were warm. They comforted his bruised and sensitive skin. After their heartwarming kiss, the two hug. Katsuki hugs Izuku gently, making sure to be careful with him after surgery.
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Katsuki left after their embrace, wanting to stay but giving Izuku and his mother tome alone. Katsuki was happy and he made it back to the dorms in one piece. "Hey!" Kirishima waves to him. Katsuki nods towards him, saying hello.
Katsuki was tired, but he would always carry that kiss and it only made him more energized. He just wanted to sleep, so that's what he did. He went to sleep.

Izuku had been talking with his mother as she held onto his hand, afraid he might slip away from her strong grip. "How do you feel?" Inko asked her son.
"I feel fine..." Izuku says but his mother kept her concern gaze, and it almost worsened before she took a deep sigh.
"Honey... Izuku is something wrong? I know this is traumatic,"
"This isn't traumatic," Izuku interjects feeling slightly hurt.
"Izuku, baby, this is a scary situation,"
"I know it's scary, but it's just something I'm going to have to overcome," Izuku says and his mother smiles wobbly.
"I'm guessing you and Katsuki talked?" Inko questioned and Izuku nodded his head. "I'm glad! He's really trying to better himself. He even admitted to how mean he was, and he realized his faults. I think he's matured so much, but I'm still iffy about him. He hurt you so much, and I'm not sure how long it will take me to forgive him,"
As much as Izuku hated to admit it, his mother was right. Katsuki had been really mean, and ultimately told Izuku to 'take a swan dive off the roof of the building' maybe he would have gotten a quirk in his next life.
The doctor walked in and told Izuku that it was time for them to redress his chest. Inko kisses her son on the forehead, and promised she would be back later. Inko left and Izuku sat on the edge of the bed and dropped his gown until it rested in his lap, showing his bare chest and back. Izuku suddenly felt a little too exposed.
He had only recently woken up, and he felt exhausted. He felt his stitched chest become cooler, an ointment or something. He didn't want to look. He didn't have the courage. He then felt the surrounding area being taped back up and a small back rub.
It was at this moment he actually had to use the bathroom. When he awkwardly asked where he could relive himself, there was a bathroom in his room. He would soon be transferred to another room, not needing the one he was in, but he was glad that this area was more secluded from prying eyes.
A doctor helped him stand up and his legs felt wobbly and slightly numb. He was somewhat gently placed in a wheelchair. At this moment, he really did need it. His legs felt like a newborn baby deers before they started prancing around.
The doctor wheeled him to the bathroom, which wasn't far, but he most likely wouldn't have made it without collapsing. His body felt weaker, and his muscles felt tight, and stiff. He hasn't used them for a few days. Not to their full extent.
He was wheeled by the door, and the nurse opened it for him, she said she would be close to the door just in case and Izuku rolled himself in.
He almost laughed, the wheelchair wasn't hard to use, but he knew if he had to use it for the rest of his life his arms would definitely need to get used to them.
He wheeled himself towards the toilet and stopped. The last time he was with reach of this he was throwing up. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
Izuku pushes himself up into a standing position, he almost got up to fast, feeling lightheaded and his vision going spotty for a split second. He then takes a step forward and sat down.
He found himself being pathetic as he couldn't even stand to pee.
After he was done he flushed the toilet and stood up, slowly walking over towards the sink. He reached for the knob but hesitated. What was going to happen?
Was he going to see blood again?
Was hanahaki really gone?
What if it wasn't gone?
What if it was still there, lurking? Growing back?
In an instant, the water turned on and Izuku began to wash his hands. The soap smelled clean, and like fresh flowers during spring. Izuku tried to focus on how nice the smell was, but all he could feel was a burning. And itching.
He quickly shut off the water and grabbed paper towels and dried his hands. He kept drying them, rubbing. Rubbing. Rubbing.
Wiping them off, scraping his skin. His already sensitive skin turning red. His hands felt sore, but he felt numb. No, he felt scared.
The smell of flowers lingered on his skin and he desperately wanted the scent gone. He could remember the flowers that grew in his chest. Whenever he breathed, he could smell the flowers. He could taste them, and that just about made him want to throw up. His hands brace themselves on the sink counter and he was panting slightly.
The burning in his chest only grew as his heart started racing. He looked up into the mirror and froze.
Good thing he didn't hallucinate.
He was pale. He had dark circles under his eyes and the whites of them were bloodshot. His hair was fluffy and unkempt. He looked in the mirror and saw evidence of blue.
He pulled back the gown, not caring that when it opened he was fully exposed. He knew his body, and because nobody was in the bathroom, he was fine just letting it all free.
He looked at the stitching that showed his incisions. They were bigger than he wanted them to be, as they practically painted his chest. He saw the bruising that formed there and he grimaced. That definitely would hurt more than it was if he wasn't on medication right now.
He wanted to cry. He would have even more scars now. Add that to the list...
Izuku wrapped his gown up and sat down slowly on the chair. He opened the door and the nurse gave him a warm smile.
He smiled back and shyly thanked her. He was wheeled back to the bed and she helped him sit down and get comfortable. She added the I.V in his arm and he felt the stabbing pain, but it felt like he could feel it in his chest.
She told him that he would be heading to bed soon, as sleeping hours were pretty early. He smiled as he waited for his dinner.
Once she left the room he flopped down onto the pillow. He looked to the side, seeing his gifts and... a few white roses. He was slightly uncomfortable looking at them, but they brought him joy anyway.
He reached over and felt his chest stretch. He freezes and scoots closer to the edge before swiftly grabbing the flowers. He saw something fall and a sliding sound echoed around the plain white walls.
Izuku groaned as he got up off the bed and down on his knees. The hard floor was cold, and his knees felt like they would grind deeper into the ground if he planned on sitting any longer.
Izuku reaches for the red card and sat up onto the bed. He set the flowers next to him and opened the card.
Dear Izuku,
You're a prick.
Ha! Izuku knew that, and he laughed. This was definitely Katsuki's handwriting.
Every since day one, I couldn't keep my eyes off you, and I wanted you to focus on me and only me. As time went by, I was an ass, and I bullied you. To an extreme. I shouldn't even be allowed near you, let alone feel your lips against mine.
I'm glad I get to touch you. See you. Feel you. I'm glad it was you. You were the one to annoy my ass my whole life, and I don't think I would want anyone else. You and I have a lot to discuss, and you know me, I hate feelings.
- Katsuki,
Ps. I still love you
Izuku smiled as tears collected in his eyes. The door opened and someone was wheeling in food. And much to his surprise, it didn't look horrible to eat.
He smiled and Kobayashi entered. "A special someone?" she questioned with a raised brow. Izuku smiled and nodded his head, setting aside the card. She looked at the flowers and offered to put them in a vase and Izuku nodded his head.
"How does your body feel?" Kobayashi asked nicely, setting the plants in a vase, then continuing to grab a check-board with paper.
"It hurts, but it's not bad," Izuku admits.
"Okay, that's good. After you're done eating, would you be comfortable answering some questions?"
"Sure!" Izuku smiles.
Izuku ate his dinner rather quickly. Some fish, carrots, yogurt and a bag of pocky.
After Izuku finished, his plate was taken away and the doctor sat across from him. "I wanted to ask how you were feeling," Dr. Kobayashi says calmly.
"Well, I'm still in pain—"
"What about mentally?"
Frozen.
Izuku froze again to the question. His hesitation did not go unnoticed as Kobayashi set down her papers and pen in her lap. "You woke up during your surgery. This doesn't always happen to patients, but it does occur occasionally. I wanted to check up on you. People have lots of feelings in that topic,"
"I guess it was scary..." Izuku says, not really knowing what the right answer was.
"Want to tell me about it?"
There was no right answer...
Izuku explained. How he was slipping out of his dream and the light buzzing sound of glowing lights and doctors overhead. Dressed in normal surgeon clothing but scarier than a beast. His mind was out of it, and he was high on medication so everything was wonky. He felt the blood pour over his cut skin. And he could feel his lungs grow colder as they were being tampered with.
His lungs were touched. That's not normal. These organs were internal, and they weren't supposed to be touched by anything except muscle tissue and red blood cells. Izuku thought he saw what his body looked like but Kobayashi voice sent him back to sleep as he was knocked out with another drug.
Kobayashi nodded her head and recommended him to talk to someone. Izuku didn't really want to, and he didn't find it necessary because he wasn't feeling trauma of any kind. Except the pain in his body.
Sure, he was upset, and it would make anyone miserable for awhile, but certainly not "help" worthy... right?
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Days go by in a flash, and Izuku was leaving the hospital. Finally.
He was beyond happy, but still disappointed at the fact that he had to stay home for a few days. He was given time to spend time with his mother, and he would go back to the dorms a day before he would go back to school.
Izuku was in the bathroom getting dressed, finally being able to stand on his own. He hiked his pants up and zipped the zipper before looking in the mirror. His skin was brighter and his eyes looked less sleep deprived. His hair was still an unruly mess but at least it had its precious green hue back.
He stared at the stitches. They weren't gigantic, but they were noticeable enough. Two slits about two inches from each other nearing the bottom of his rib cage. Both sides of his body. He then had a larger incision at the side of his body, near his lung.
The bruising healing, and the stitches still in, he didn't know how to feel. He's had surgery before, but that was for his arm. Izuku walked out of the bathroom and the nurse aided his wounds.
He was all patched up and told to clean them gently, and not to hurt himself.
Izuku would definitely try.
He tugs his shirt on and the first person to walk in his room is his Mother. She smiled and gives him a kiss on the cheek. "How are you feeling, Izuku?" she asked kindly.
"Much better! My sides still hurt, and whenever I take a really deep breath my lungs hurt. But other than that I'm feeling great," he said as he smiled brightly. A warm smile showing that he really did feel okay.
Just okay..?
"I'm going to go fill out some paperwork, while waiting, I think someone would like to talk to you..." she whispered as she walked out of the room, smiling.
Katsuki walked into the room and Izuku smiled timidly. "Hey Deku..."
"Hey Kacchan! How are you?" Izuku asked kindly as he was about to pick up a bag filled with his stuff. Katsuki swiftly yanked it out of Izuku's grasp. Izuku was about to protest but Katsuki cut him off casually.
"I'm fine nerd, and I should be asking you that. Also, no heavy lifting remember?" Katsuki says lifting a brow.
Izuku scowled and it was honestly adorable instead of something menacing. Like a cute puppy pouting. Katsuki almost laughed. "The doctor said combat,"
"No, the doctor said exertion, and lifting weights qualifies!" Katsuki retorted.
"The bag isn't even a dumbbell!"
"Deku." Katsuki punctuated, "This weighs pounds! It's basically a heavy ball, now don't be stupid about this!" Katsuki says and Izuku's scowl turns into a smile before he lightly laughs. Katsuki's slight rage slows down and he feels the corner of his lips lift into a smirk.
He really did care about this dorky nerd.
Izuku and Katsuki walk out and Inko had been waiting for the two with a small smile.
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
The three made it to Izuku's former home. An apparent complex that still housed some of Izuku's belongings. Izuku had missed days of school. Many days that he won't be able to grasp back in the palm of his hand. All because he loved to much...
"C'mon nerd," grumbled Katsuki. Izuku walked with Katsuki all the way up to the door. Inko opened the door and the three stepped into the abnormally quiet surrounding.
Izuku can't remember the last time he was actually here. It was nostalgic in a way, and he remembered just how much he missed it.
He walks to his room, which was replaced with a new mattress, probably turned into a guest room or when Izuku ever came to stay with his mother: holidays and personal events.
Inko said she would make something for the boys as they set Izuku's room up for the remaining days he has to stay here. Izuku and Katsuki walked into Izuku's now plain room. Some All Might posters still displayed, and action figures. "Damn Deku, I didn't think you could go without every All Might related thing you owned," Katsuki playfully teased.
Izuku turned to him with a slight blush, "I'll have you know I've removed a lot of All Might inspired things from my room!" Izuku retorts.
"Yeah, this room is almost stripped away from everything All Might," Katsuki teases once again.
"I m-meant my dorm room, Kacchan!" Izuku claims. He wasn't wrong though, he really did remove a lot of his All Might mercy from his room.
"I guess I'll just have to come over to your dorm room to see it for myself," Katsuki suggested as he smirked, setting down the bag next to the bed. Izuku's heart warmed at the thought. Katsuki, coming to his room? Izuku didn't know why, but the warmth in his chest spread to his cheeks as he became slightly flustered.
It shouldn't have been so heartwarming to him, Katsuki was in his room right now. But something about it being the dorms made it meaningful, like it mattered just a tad bit more.
Izuku looked around his room, dragging his fingertips across his old desk, before sitting on it. He kicked his legs slightly like a toddler, and clasped his hands together. He took a deep breath wincing slightly, and letting it fall heavily out his nose. He looked around the now plain room, the one he grew up in.
The room he used to come home and cry to. The closet he would lock himself in and cry to muffle the loud sobs he would let out after arriving home from school. The room that used to be his sanctuary. "Yeah, I'll have to show you just to prove you wrong," Izuku voices almost in a whisper. The smile on his face is soft and tranquil. Almost as if he was in his own little world.
Katsuki walked over towards Izuku and places his hand on Izuku's knee. Izuku brings his gaze back to Katsuki. Katsuki wanted to say something, Izuku could tell, but he couldn't figure out why Katsuki was holding back. "Deku," Katsuki started. "When you come back to school, you better not push yourself too hard. I wouldn't want a weak rival later in the future. Make sure you're taking care of yourself, even though you've failed in that department," Katsuki says.
Izuku smiled softly, eyes becoming glossy and kind. A look Katsuki would never be able to look away from. Something about Izuku's meaningful look brought the world into a different reality. "I guess you'll just have to boss me around," Izuku said.
There was slight regret and hurt in that statement. Katsuki used to push him around, and occasionally still does. But it was meant to be a joke, but the atmosphere in the room changed so quickly that joke dissipated. "You almost died," Katsuki suddenly said and the room became quiet. Too quiet. Izuku didn't say anything. He didn't know what to say.
Katsuki was right. He usually was most of the time. Izuku dropped his eyes down to his feet. Shoes still on, forgetting to slip out of them.
"I seriously don't want to see you killing yourself with work. All you do is work. Never giving yourself a damn break. That's why you aren't improving as fast. Give yourself a fucking break, Deku," Katsuki scolded.
Izuku brought his hand onto Katsuki's. The one that was still firmly rested on his knee. "I know..." Izuku whispered and Katsuki walked closer. "I'm sorry..."
Katsuki takes Izuku's other hand in his and stares into the green glistening eyes. "I told you to stop apologizing for shit you can't control," Katsuki bit back.
Katsuki took his other hand and cupped Izuku's cheek. Izuku took a leap of faith and leaned closer. Their foreheads touch gently. Katsuki leaned in a bit. Izuku rubbed the tip of his nose with Katsuki's and his mouth tingled. His lips felt a tingling sensation on them.
His stomach felt twisty and bubbly. He was very nervous and it felt as if he was about to compete in some type of race. His heart hammering against his rib cage. His stomach warming and dancing. His senses in fight or flight as they connect.
Izuku's green tuffs of hair rubbing with Katsuki's fingertips. Both lips soft and tender, ready to be broken.
The kissing continued. Katsuki's other hand finding its way up Izuku's arm. That sent the tingles shooting up his arm and into his back. Izuku's arms wrapping around Katsuki's neck. Katsuki's lower half bumps against the desk. Izuku slides forward a bit, bringing their bodies ever so near.
The sound of soft kisses echoed in the room. They pulled apart mildly before diving back into the depths of exploration. They kept kissing, and Katsuki's tongue grazed over Izuku's bottom lip. It felt warm and wet, a sensation Izuku didn't know he would want more of.
The kisses became more desperate and Izuku's hand found its way towards Katsuki's hair. The back of his head had hair that happen to be slightly trimmed, as the front was longer. You could barley tell, but his hair was well groomed and cut evenly.
Izuku's hair combed through that part and Katsuki loved it. Izuku's hand had been blessed with the gift of gentle care. Izuku's fingers made Katsuki's hair stand up and bring subtle goosebumps around his body.
Katsuki trailed towards Izuku's cheek and started to kiss near his ear. He kept softly kissing, going down towards Izuku's jawline. Izuku was panting slightly and Katsuki pulled away. Izuku looked so blissed out that Katsuki almost laughed. He saw Izuku's hand over his chest and Katsuki became concerned suddenly. "Deku?"
"Yeah..?" Izuku questioned out of breath.
Katsuki slowly brought his hand up towards Izuku's chest, placing his palm fully in Izuku's hand. Both of their hands over Izuku's rhythmic heartbeat. "Is something wrong? Was... this too much?" Katsuki asked.
It took a minute before Izuku replied, "This was amazing. You are enough, I'm okay," Izuku says and Katsuki held his hands in Izuku's, gripping them tightly.
Inko called the boys out to eat and the two separated. Izuku still felt his heart hammering in his chest. And Katsuki felt his own heartbeat with a fury that was unknown to both of them. They still had tension between each other that they needed to talk about and clear the air. But for now, they were okay.
