"He's awake," is all Todoroki said before leaving the dumbfounded Katsuki in the hospital. Katsuki rushes to the front desk asking where Midoriya Izuku was.

He was told the room number, and he swiftly walks down the halls. Thank god he was on the lower level. He didn't know what he wanted to say, but his feet walked all on their own before his mind could process. He was standing right in front of the door.

Katsuki breathes in as he reaches for the handle. He exhales and opens the door with a gentle push.

The rush of cold air hits Katsuki like a train. The room felt icy, and an eerie chill ran up his spine. The room felt so depressing, but it claimed a certain tranquility that seemed to be airborne. Katsuki closed the door behind him and stared at Izuku's wired body.

His skin was far too pale, and his hair slightly thinner. The darkness of his hair becoming a more light-ish gray, and the green more of a washed out hue.

He stilled had a muscular form, but he in fact, looked weaker than usual. His hands were more dainty and his arms just a tad bit smaller. He still had his abs though, something Katsuki occasionally glanced at.

Izuku had an oxygen masked fitted over his face, and Katsuki gazed at the device. He let out a sigh of relief once he saw the mask fog up a bit. He was breathing.

Izuku's lower half was covered with the unmistakable hospital bed sheet. His upper half had marks on them. A sharpie perhaps. A doctor had started preparing him for incisions, and marking where the hanahaki had spread with another color.

Katsuki felt a tug on his heart. His body pushed him forward slowly, and he reluctantly walked over to Izuku. There had been a lonely chair waiting for him. Katsuki took a seat.

Why did he feel this way?

"Hey... Deku..." Katsuki rasped out. He was nervous! Katsuki, of all people, was nervous to speak with Izuku. And who could blame him?

Izuku's eyes fluttered open, and they were glowing with a sadness that almost made Katsuki want to cry. Izuku slightly turned his head, shifting his gaze towards Katsuki. Izuku smiled, and his eyes glossed over. The action was enough to make Katsuki's heart pound.

"How are you feeling?" Katsuki asked with a slight change in his facial features. His eyebrows were calm, and his eyes held a softness Izuku hasn't seen before. At least, not for a long time.

Izuku raises his arm a bit and gave Katsuki a thumbs up. Katsuki smirked, but it was slightly forced due to how hurt Izuku looked. Katsuki almost laughed, Izuku was trying to cheer him up a bit. It worked.

Izuku. Always putting others before himself. Katsuki looked into Izuku's eyes and Izuku's eyes softened. His eyes had collected some tears, and the more he stared at Katsuki the more crystals would cloud his vision.

Katsuki didn't know what to say, and Izuku's eyes could do all the talking. "I know you probably don't want to see me," Katsuki started but Izuku stretches his arm out and places his palm in Katsuki's knee. Izuku smiled and shook his head. Katsuki was slightly confused. Izuku reaches for his mask but Katsuki gentle stopped him. "You're not supposed to take that off, dummy," Katsuki softly remarks.

Izuku proceeded to do it anyway and Katsuki could hear Izuku's staggered breathing. It really did sound like something was blocking his air path. "Thank you for coming," thanked Izuku.

"I would be inhuman if I didn't," Katsuki says and Izuku manages a low chuckle. "You really look like shit,"

Izuku laughed a bit and wheezes. He smiled and his hand was still placed on Katsuki's knee. "T-thanks. It takes me a while to look this good," Izuku playfully retorts. Katsuki's eyebrows lift in amusement.

     This little—

"I heard you waited for me..." Izuku rasped out. Katsuki felt caught, even though it was the truth, and he didn't mind Izuku knowing that either. "I'm really glad you're here. I really needed to talk to you..."

"So did I..." Katsuki softly said. These two were finally going to clear the air.

"I had a dream..." Izuku started.

"I was in it. I remember..." Katsuki started. Izuku removes his hand from Katsuki's knee, the two only now realizing how long it had been there for.

"Do you remember what I said?" Izuku asked, a pint of fear coating his vocal cords.

"Which part?" Katsuki asked. He knew what Izuku had meant.

"All of it,"

"Yeah, I remember all of it."

A comfortable but awkward silence settled in and the two refused to make eye contact. Do you know how I feel?" Izuku squeaked out.

Katsuki looked over at the boy and felt so much sadness radiating off of him. "About me, yes... I should have realized,"

"No no! It's okay, i-it was entirely my fault! A-and I - w-we never—"

"Deku, calm down... I'm not going to kill you. Even though it seems like I'm already doing that," Katsuki gestures towards Izuku's body.

Izuku blushed a bit but he was really upset with himself. "You aren't killing me. I'm killing me. I just care too much..."

"I don't care enough," Katsuki admits and Izuku brought his eyes back up to his. "Looks like we both have issues in the same department."

Izuku smiled softly, coughing a bit. Katsuki became worried and almost rushed over to his side once he saw how one cough looked so painful. "Isn't it funny how much things can change within a week?" Izuku asked. It was more of a rhetorical question, but Katsuki answered anyways.

"Yeah, it is kind of funny..." the room was silent once again.

Suddenly, a question was hanging above Katsuki's head as he stared right into Izuku's orbs. "What's the worst part?"

Izuku didn't waste any time answering his question. "The convulsing. The roots tighten and I can feel the thorns scrape against my organs. Throwing up is the worst. I despise that part."

     "Sounds painful..."

"More than painful. I can't breathe."

Katsuki felt everything around him spin. "I can't imagine,"

"Trust me, you wouldn't want to. It's not worth the agony," that agony was the only thing resting between the fine lines of sanity and crazy.

A nurse walked in and she seemed slightly alarmed. "Izuku, your mother is here. Are you ready to discuss the process of your surgery?"

Izuku's gaze fell grim and painful as he glanced towards Katsuki. Katsuki seemed nervous for him, but gave Izuku a soft encouraging smile. "Yes," Izuku says. He really wanted to back down. Suddenly, Izuku started coughing.

He almost screamed because he felt a particularly sharp stab at his lung. Blood started to slip from his lips and Katsuki jumped out of the chair so fast, that it left a scraping sound against the floor.

"I'm going to need to ask you to leave," the nurse demanded and many others came flooding in. Katsuki was ready to fight them all off but he was shoved out of the room.

"Dammit... this is all my fault..."

"It's not," Katsuki whipped around to see Inko. She must have been informed right away because of how many nurses rushes into the room. "Izuku loves you very much, he always has. I just hadn't noticed until recently,"

"I didn't get enough time to talk with him... I really need to say what I want to him before his surgery. It has to happen before his surgery!" Katsuki exclaims. He cupped his face into his hands feeling frustrated and felt a warm touch on his shoulder.

"You'll be able to..."

Izuku opened his eyes. Once again in that damn dream world. He was wearing shorts that stopped at his knees. The shorts were gray with a sweatpants type of feeling. His shirt was light blue. A similar outfit to his other ones in the dream.

Izuku's eyes widened in astonishment. Izuku's eyes filled with tears as a blush crept on his cheeks. His freckles seemed darker and his skin was a healthy color. Izuku didn't have his shoes on. He didn't realize he has carrying them. His feet felt damp, and cool to the touch as his feet felt nice on the ground.

Izuku looked out into the distance. All he could see for miles was the reflection of the galaxy-like sky on the ground. He was walking on stars. "Salt flats..?" Izuku questioned as a small tear trickled down his tender cheek.

"Isn't it beautiful?" a voice yelled. Izuku squinted, trying time make out the silhouette in the distance. Izuku walked a bit forward and could make out some of the figure. He could spot those red eyes and spiky hair anywhere any day. He smiled.

Izuku knew it wasn't his Katsuki, but it was Katsuki non the less. Izuku kept walking forward a big smile blooming on his face. The two embraced and Izuku dropped his shoes to the side.

Izuku didn't know what it was, but he just broke. His heart screamed and so did he. He screamed into Katsuki's chest, muffling his sound. Katsuki brushes through Izuku's hands with his fingers. Izuku embraces him tightly, feeling content and want under his touch.

"I really don't want the surgery..."

Katsuki pulled away and lifted Izuku's chin with his fingers. Izuku's eyes widened as he was wrong. This was Katsuki. His Katsuki.

"Then don't get it..."

"What are you- how are you—"

"Shh..." Katsuki says as he brings his finger between Izuku's lips. "I fell asleep,"

Izuku smiled and more tears streamed. Katsuki wipes them away muttering a 'crybaby' under his breath. Izuku couldn't complain. But he pushed Katsuki back sharply. "Why are you treating me this way? Is it because I'm sick? Is this some kind of new way to make fun of me?!" Izuku started accusing.

"No..." Katsuki starts and grabs Izuku's hands. "I wanted to apologize. I can't believe it took you dying for me to come to this conclusion but... I need you. I want you in my life. I'll support you if you get the surgery, but I don't think you would be the same."

"I'm sorry, Kacchan. I need the surgery, but I don't want it."

"How much time before they start?"

"Probably an hour, but in here it could take awhile," Izuku said.

"Let's take a walk..." Katsuki says and outstretched his hand for Izuku to take.

Izuku took it.

The two started walking, Katsuki wearing a black shirt and khaki shorts. His hands were warm and Izuku couldn't help but squeeze it slightly, knowing Katsuki was really here.

The two talked for hours. They laughed and even argued but they still walked forward for miles and miles. The world around them didn't matter. They were the only two there, so no one could disturb them.

No one but something. Something did disturb them. Izuku tripped and almost brought Katsuki down with him — they were still holding hands.

Izuku felt something wrap around his leg. Vines.

Izuku screamed and tried to rip away but he couldn't. "What the hell?!" Katsuki exclaimed in confusion.

"This is the h-hanahaki!"

"It is?!" Katsuki asked bemused. "What the fu—"

The vines ripped Izuku and he was being dragged across the floor. The sky turning black and Katsuki races forward to Izuku. He grabbed his hand and pulled.

"Kacchan let go," Izuku said with a pained expression.

"No! You're crazy if you think I'm doing that!"

"Then I'm crazy! I've always been crazy you know that! So let. Me go!" Izuku says trying to rip his hand away as Katsuki came tumbling to the ground. His hand was still firmly gripped with Izuku's. Izuku smiled as the tears collected in the corners of his eyes.

Katsuki always did want to win.

"No, STOP IT! THIS ISN'T HAPPENING!" Katsuki screamed.

Even with the force of the wind picking up, blowing their hair. Or the force that Izuku is being dragged away and everything around them was turning black, Izuku managed to cup Katsuki's face with the most gentlest touch anyone had ever done. Katsuki's eyes widened and he looked into Izuku's eyes.

"Katsuki.... Let go."

Katsuki let go.

Katsuki jolted up and Inko gave him a worried look. The two had been in the waiting room and Katsuki had forced himself to fall asleep. It worked.

He stood up and started walking down the hallway towards Izuku's room. A nurse was walking out and she stopped him. "I'm sorry you can't—"

"I'm going in there, and you can't stop me. I need to let him know..." what was it? What did he need to know?

The nurse kindly opened the door for him and he walked in. Some other nurses were in there but payed him no mind as they were setting up tables and sharp objects.

Katsuki walked over to Izuku's body. His eyes stung with a feeling he hated. Izuku had been prepared for surgery, and it was finally going to happen. Katsuki couldn't believe it. He let them fall.

His tears fell at the sight of Izuku. Izuku was practically dead. Knocking on deaths door. Katsuki sat down on the bed and took Izuku's hand in his. He brushed some hair out of Izuku's face and smiled when Izuku's nose twitched.

It's always the little things, isn't it?

Katsuki sniffed and felt the room become colder. "I'm not sure if you can hear me, but I'm guessing your moments in the dream world will be absolute hell. But I'll always be on this side waiting for you. I'll be here. I'll always be here because you're always by my side. You can't get rid of me and I can't get rid of you... Vice versa."

Flowers bloomed inside Izuku's chest and Katsuki could see a thorn start to stick out of his skin. He winced and Izuku's body flinched a bit.

"I'll be waiting on the other side because, I love you Deku..." Katsuki whispers as he left Deku with a soft kiss.
