001 | Wednesday's Child Is Full Of Woe
"Something bad is 'bout to happen to me
I don't know it, but I feel it coming"

She was an observer. Someone who liked to watch and judge silently for themselves. It didn't used to be that way. Usually she would be in the crowd, judging together with others. But ever since the accident, things have changed. She has changed. The woman in the window watched the black car pulling over the yard. This is the Addams family?, she questioned herself and rose an eyebrow. Interesting. Her mother described them way differently. According to her memory, the Addams were a normal family just like hers once. The gothic aesthetic was left unannounced, however, she liked it. It proved her theory of the not so stereotypical families. A smile crept on her lips.
Wednesday looked up, seeing the woman in the window. She locked eyes with the woman and nodded. The woman nodded back and added a small wave. Morticia also noticed the woman and her eyes widened. This couldn't be! Or it could? Suddenly the woman turned around very quickly and disappeared behind the curtains. Wednesday could swear she saw a frightened look on the young woman's face. "Come on now, Wednesday." The girl did as told and followed her family behind.
"You scared me, Flora!", cried the woman out and put her hand to her chest to see if her heart was still beating. "I'm sorry, Daisy but she's here!", answered her little sister excited. Daisy Primrose smiled brightly and put an arm around the bubbly ball of energy her sister now was. She closed the door of her room and walked with Flora besides her to Larissa Weems' office.
●●●
The duo stopped in front of the office and exchanged looks. "I'll see you in a bit, okay?", said Daisy and kissed the top of her sister's head. Flora nodded and smiled while running out to see her friends and tell them everything she saw. Daisy sighed and opened the door, stepping inside. Everyone's eyes were now on her. "The woman in the window.", spoke Wednesday up and turned back towards Larissa. "This is Daisy Primrose, our youngest teacher here at Nevermore." "Pleasure to meet you.", answered the Primrose and stretched out her hand for shaking. Gomez took the gesture gladly and smiled at the young woman. Morticia however, found herself in schock. "Daisy as in Azalea's Daisy?" "Yes, ma'am. She is my mother. Well, mine and Flora's, my little sister." Morticia looked at the girl in front of her. God, she was exactly like her mother. "It is very nice to meet you, dear. Your mother and I used to be friends back in the day." Daisy only nodded and turned her gaze back to the principal. The older woman did the same. She smacked her lips together and continued to speak with her old roommate.
"Larissa, what about Wednesday's, um...therapy sessions? The court ordered them." "The school has a relationship with a therapist in Jericho. She can meet twice a week.", explained Larissa quickly and eyed Daisy who nodded to assure her that she said the right thing. "Did you hear that, my little storm cloud? You're in excellent hands." "We'll see if she survives the first session.", said Wednesday and made Daisy to chuckle. Dr. Kinbott was definitely going to create herself a complex because of that girl. "I've assigned you to your mother's old dorm. Ophelia Hall.", added Larissa and watched Morticia's excitement. "Refresh my memory. Ophelia's the one who kills herself after being driven mar by her family, correct?" "Correct.", piped Daisy out and smiled. "Miss Primrose, would you be so kind to show Wednesday her new roommate?", asked Larissa and looked at her staff member. The woman nodded and began to walk out with the family.

"I have to warn you. She's very optimistic and bright. Literally.", mentioned Daisy quickly and led Wednesday inside her new home. "It's so...vivid.", said Gomez a little concerned. "I said that too but you can't change everybody.", chuckled the woman and waved for the blonde girl to come over. "Howdy, roomie!", she exclaimed with a bright smile. "Wednesday, this is Enid Sinclair.", introduced Daisy one of her sister's friends. "Are you feeling okay? You look a little pale.", said Enid worried and shared a glance with Daisy. "Wednesday always looks half-dead." Enid stepped towards her new roommate, arms wide open but the girl dressed in black took a step back. "I don't think she's a hugger, Enid.", whispered Daisy with a playfull smirk on her lips, comforting Enid. "Please excuse Wednesday. She's allergic to color.", said Morticia, excusing her daughter's behavior. "What happens to you?", asked the blonde with worry. "I break out into hives and then the flesh peels off my bones.", deadpanned Wednesday, getting a scared look from Enid.
"Luckily principal Weems ordered a special uniform for you. No color included.", said Daisy and winked at the new girl while saying the last part. "Enid, please take Wednesday to the registrar's office to pick it up along with her schedule, and give her a tour along the way. Don't forget to introduce Flower to her please." "On it, captain!", exclaimed Enid enthusiastically and dragged Wednesday out of their dorm, leaving the adults behind. "I suggest you go back to principal Weems. She needs clarification for a few things.", said Daisy kindly and walked away to her classroom. If she stayed longer, she had to talk to her mother's friend. That was definitely not on her to-do list for today.

Bianca Barclay was chatting with her friends while feeling a pair of eyes burning into her back. "She's staring at us.", whispered Divina between her friends and laughed lightly. Flora giggled a little. "Wolfey is waving at someone.", mentioned Kent into the circle. All eyes landed on Flora. She sighed. "My sister's doing.", said the brunette and jogged over to the duo. "Wednesday, this is Flora Primrose. Daisy Primrose's younger sister." "A siren?", questioned Wednesday, looking up and down at the girl in front of her. "A Samodiva, actually.", corrected Flora and beamed. "Fascinating." "Yo, Enid, Flower! You're not gonna believe the dirt I heard about your new roommate. She eats human flesh. Totally chowed down on that kid she murdered. You better watch your back." Flora coughed and Enid revealed Wednesday besides her. "Not cool, Aj.", whispered the brunette towards her friend. "Quite the contrary. I actually fillet the bodies of my victims, then feed them to my menagerie of pets." "You have a menagerie of pets? That's so cool!", responded Flora, clueless that Wednesday just said something ironic. Enid shook her head. "Ajax, this is my new roommate, Wednesday." "Whoa. You're in black and white. Like a living Instagram filter.", responded Ajax, impressed with what he saw.
"Ignore him. Gorgons spend way too much time getting stoned.", said Enid and shoved him away. "Which is not as fun as it sounds." Wednesday turned to Flora. "Trust me." "He's cute but clueless. It's a small school. There wasn't much online about you. You should really get on Insta, Snapchat and TikTok.", suggested Enid and got a nudge from Flora in response. "I find social media to be a soul-sucking void of meaningless affirmation.", declared Wednesday and walked away from the two girls. "Well, we've tried our best.", said Flora and pulled Enid towards herself in a side hug.

Boiling water could be heard if you opened the classroom door of Nevermore's herbology teacher. Young Daisy Primrose may be 25, but she's an excellent teacher. The teenagers adore her and she adored them. Once Morticia entered, it felt like she never wanted to leave. The woman's head was hovering over a small pot. She was stirring while reading what the next ingredient was. "Your mother used to be the same when it came to herbology." Daisy looked up from what she was doing and locked eyes with Morticia. "It is actually my father's fault I fell in love with this subject. Although I wish it was my mom's.", she joked and put down the small pot. The older woman chuckled lightly. "How is she doing?", she asked and took a bunch of dry leaves and crushed them, listening to the satisfying sound. Daisy didn't knew what to say. Should she tell her? No. It's none of anybody's business about what's going on in their family. "She's good.", lied the brunette. "She and dad are doing amazing." But Morticia Addams wasn't one to be fooled. She knew better. "And your grandmother? Does your mother speak to her?", asked Morticia further. Daisy rose her eyebrows. "It has gotten better. Our cousin, Andrew, he sometimes visits us on the surface. If grandma lets him. But yes, we speak to her." "Some good news after all. Azalea used to always complain about her and after she married your father, things just got out of hand."
"They did. Grandma isn't the best person.", agreed Daisy with her mother's old friend. "And you and your sister?", asked Morticia and smiled towards the younger woman. Daisy chuckled. "Flora is doing better than I am, that's for sure. She has friends and perfect grades. A little distanced towards others but she's working on that.", said Daisy and crossed her arms over. She eyed the woman in black who stood in front of her. The brunette always admired her pictures whenever Azalea would show the old school album. Morticia was indeed mesmerizing. "What do you want?" The older woman looked offended. "I don't understand what you mean." "Quit the games, Mrs Addams. You always want something.", said Daisy with a stern look. Morticia sighed. "Watch Wednesday and make sure she stays out of trouble." Daisy rose her eyebrow. "Please.", begged Morticia and took her hand in hers. The young woman sighed and agreed. "Thank you, Daisy.", answered Morticia with a smile and kissed the brunette's forehead. "I hope your mother knows how lucky she is." Daisy wiped away the lipstick stain on her forehead and looked down at her shoes. "I hope she is."

The following night, two youngsters ghosted around the school, trying to meet up with their peers. "Come on, come on, come on!", whispered Flora as she mentioned for Xavier to follow her towards the library. "The others are waiting!" Xavier only rolled his eyes and closed the door behind him. Both walked over to the group of chattering students and joined them quickly. "You're late.", mentioned Bianca with sharp voice and eyed the two. "Had to finish something for botanical science.", excused Xavier Flora and himself. Bianca nodded and turned her attention back to her friends. "What are we gonna do with the new girl?" "Nothing.", said Flora and shrugged her shoulders. "We could scare her off?", suggested Kent. "Seriously? Have you seen her? It's most likely that she scares you off.", mentioned Ajax and high fived Flora. Kent glared at the two. "No but seriously. What do we do?", threw Bianca the question again inside her group. "Like Flower said, we do nothing. She's just like us. An outcast.", said Xavier, repeating his best friend's words. "Ugh, I hate that word." "Outcast?", asked Divina confused. "Yes! There are so many other wonderful adjectives that could describe us.", said Flora and supported her head with her hands. "Like what?" "Unique, extraordinary, peculiar-" "Freaks.", interrupted Kent the girl and earned a smack from Yoko. Flora send her a grateful smile which the vampire returned. "Xavier is right, tho. Wednesday is like us. I say we vote.", said Ajax, obviously agreeing with his friend.
"Who is for doing something against Wednesday?" Bianca, Divina and Kent raised their hands. "3 voters. Okay. Who is for not doing anything to Wednesday?" Flora, Ajax, Xavier and Yoko raised their hands. "4 to 3. It's decided. We do nothing against Wednesday.", declared Xavier and leaned back into his chair. Bianca rolled her eyes. She wasn't pleased with this answer and would later complain to Flora. However, the girl didn't mind. It was better than to bottle everything up. "It's better this way.", whispered the brunette towards the siren and nudged her playfully. A small smile escaped on Bianca's lips. Suddenly, all 7 heard footsteps approaching them. Not just any footsteps but the squeaky red boots of their botanical science teacher. "The library is closing now, kids. I suggest you all go to your dorms." "Of course, Miss Thornhill.", said Ajax and shoved the stool to the table. Everyone else followed his example. "Flora. May I hold you back for a moment?", asked Marilyn. "You go, I'm coming in a minute.", said the girl towards her roommate and squeezed her hand.
"Yes, Miss Thornhill?", said Flora and turned around, facing her favorite teacher. Marilyn smiled brightly at the brunette. "I thought you might like this one.", mentioned the woman and handed a book towards Flora. "Wuthering Heights.", read the girl out loud and looked up. "Thank you!", she exclaimed and hugged Marilyn out of excitement. "You're very welcome, dear. But I suggest you go now. It's getting late." Flora nodded and ran out of the library, searching for her roommate.
As soon as Marilyn Thornhill found out about Flora's reading passion, she began to give her books. All kinds of. Both would sometimes sit in the library for hours on the weekends and read together. It was special for the Primrose because it felt like she found a mother figure she so desperately needed.
"Bia!", whisper-shouted Flora and sprinted to her friend. "Look what she gave me!" "Another book? Again Flower?", questioned Bianca and crossed her arms over her chest. Flora frowned. "I'm just kidding. I hope you enjoy this one as well.", said the siren and laughed lightly. Flora hooked her arm with Bianca and playfully smirked at her. "Sometimes I dislike your humor, do you know that?" "Actually, I do." Both girls giggled and made their way towards their dorm.

Flora never liked fencing. It was a violent sport and she despised violence. However, she liked cheering her friends on and help out whenever she could. "Rowan!", exclaimed the girl and got besides her friend, putting away his fencing mask. "Coach, coach, she tripped me. Tell him Flora." The girl looked up at the teacher. "It was a clean strike, Rowan.", declared the coach, taking the answer away from Flora, easing her situation a little. "Maybe if you whined less and practiced more, you wouldn't suck.", mentioned Bianca and looked between the pair. "And maybe Flora would actually date you." "Bianca!", remarked Flora irritated and stood up. The girl opposite from her rolled her eyes and glanced towards her coach. "Seriously, coach, when am I gonna get real competition? Anyone else want to challenge me?" "I do.", spoke Wednesday up. Flora gave Rowan his glasses back and crossed her arms over her chest. The boy saw his friend's shoulders tensing and took her hand in his, squeezing lightly. Flora, however, didn't pull away. She squeezed back.
"Oh, you must be the psychopath they let in.", mentioned Bianca with her mocking voice, eyeing Wednesday from head to toe. "You must be the self-appointed Queen Bee. Interesting thing about bees. Pull out their stingers, they drop dead." "Rowan doesn't need you to come to his defense. He's not helpless, he's lazy.", said the siren straight up forward. "But Flora does. I can see that she doesn't have the courage to stand up to your mean remarks you always seem to be throwing around.", deadpanned Wednesday and nodded towards the brunette. Flora blushed and hid her face behind the fencing mask, not wanting to meet anyone's eyes. "Are we doing this or not?" Bianca nodded and mentioned for Flora to go over to Xavier. The brunette did as told and left Rowan alone. She sent him an apology smile.
The two girls got in position. "En garde.", said the coach. Xavier put an arm around Flora, pulling her closer to himself. Both watched the fight going back and forth between the two girls. Strong fencers, indeed. And then...Wednesday won! "Point to Wednesday." The fight continued. Flora's eyes widened with amazement. "The score is even.", announced the coach once again. Wednesday took off her helmet, rage written all over her face. "That first point was clearly beginner's luck. Let's finish this.", mentioned Bianca and did the same. Both were walking around each other, drawing circles like sharks doing it to their victims. "For the final point, I would like to invoke a military challenge. No masks. No tips.", suggested Wednesday and gave Flora her fencing mask. "Winner draws blood." Bianca sighed, stepping slowly forward. "It's your decision, Bianca.", added Flora and shared a glance with one of her best friends. The siren turned her attention towards Wednesday and saw a smirk. One she wanted to wipe away from her pale face. "Let's see if you bleed in black and white."
"I can't look!", shouted Flora and covered her face away with the mask. "But I want to." The way Wednesday and Bianca moved reminded Flora of the waves whenever there was a storm. Each one would fight for the title of being the strongest. They created a tsunami together. This wasn't any different. The waves weren't even. One was better than the other. It would always be like that. And just like that, Bianca won, slashing a wound on Wednesday's forehead. "Your face finally got that splash of color it so desperately needed.", chuckled Bianca and looked over at her friend. The brunette didn't seem impressed. She shook off Xavier's hand and walked over to Wednesday. "Sometimes I just can't believe you.", whispered Flora only for Bianca to hear and took Wednesday to the infirmary. Bianca stared at where the flower loving girl stood a second ago and put down her fencing sword. Usually, Flora would cheer her on and run for a hug but now she just looked disappointed. What was happening?
●●●
Flora put a small bandaid on Wednesday's forehead, tapping it gently to stick. She smiled at the girl in front of her not expecting a smile in return. "Thank you.", said the pigtailed girl flatly. "You're Wednesday, right?", asked a voice behind the two girls. "That's Rowan.", introduced Flora her friend quickly. "I know how you feel.", he mentioned. "I guarantee you don't.", answered Wednesday and shared a glance with Flora. "My mother promised me I'd finally fit in somewhere. Yet the only true friend I have is Flora. I never thought it was possible to be an outcast in a school full of outcasts. But it looks like you're gonna give me a run for my money.", he chuckled and nodded towards Flora who grinned sweetly. "Sorry about the...nick." "No good deed goes unpunished.", mentioned Wednesday and took her blazer before walking out. Flora waved at Rowan and hurried behind her.
"Wednesday! Wait!", yelled Flora and stopped to catch her breathe. It was raining outside so the Addams girl pulled out her umbrella. Flora wanted to run right under it but didn't push herself. She heard a stone being moved and quickly surrendered a few vines to catch it while Xavier pushed Wednesday out of the way. The Primrose threw the stones away and hurried to help her friend and Wednesday. "She's not dead, is she?", questioned Xavier and looked at Flora. The girl shook her head and made a moose bed for Wednesday so she could be carried inside, back to the infirmary.
Wednesday Addams awoke and the very first people she saw were Xavier Thorpe and Flora Primrose. Both beamed down at her. "Welcome back.", said Xavier with a smirk and watched as the black haired girl sat up on the bed. "Just take it easy. Nurse said you don't have a concussion but you probably have a nasty bump, huh?" "The last thing I remember I was walking outside feeling a mixture of rage, pity and self-disgust while Flora yelling behind me. I never felt that way before.", explained Wednesday with no emotion. "Losing to Bianca has that effect on people.", chuckled Flora and sat down on the bed edge. "Then I looked up and saw that gargoyle coming down and I thought, 'At least I'll have an imaginative death'. Then you tackled me out of the way and your friend used her abilities to push the gargoyle away.", explained Wednesday further. "Why?" "Call it instinct.", said Xavier and looked at Flora for her answer. "Call mine the care of a friend.", she added and smirked proudly. "So you two were guided by latent chivalry, the tool of the patriarchy, to extract my undying gratitude?"
"Mm-mmh. Most people just say thank you.", said Xavier and felt a light slap from Flora on his upper arm. He winced playfully and gave her an offended glance. "I didn't want to be rescued." "So we should have just let that thing smash you to mush?", asked Xavier in a playfull way. "I would have rather saved myself." "I don't believe you.", added Flora in a sing song voice. "Good to see you haven't changed. If it makes you feel any better, let's just say I returned the favor." Wednesday had confusion written all over her face.
"Xavier Thorpe? You probably don't remember me. Last time we met I was about two feet shorter, 40 pounds heavier." "What happened?", asked Wednesday eagerly. "Puberty I guess." "I think she means what happened the last time you two met.", said Flora and leaned her head on her palms, interested as well. "Yeah, it...it was my grandmother's funeral. She was friends with your grandmother and they spent their twenties in Europe, swindling the rich and notorious. I don't know, but we were ten and we were bored, decided to play hide and seek." "I love hide and seek.", interrupted the brunette her friend but realized it quickly. "Oh my, sorry. Please continue." Xavier chuckled at Flora. "I had the inspired idea to hide in her casket. I got stuck as it was headed to the crematorium." "I'd heard muffled screams. I just figured your grandmother had cheated death and was trying to claw her way out.", continued Wednesday, remembering. "Either way, you hit the big red stop button and saved me from being flame-broiled. So...now we're even." "And you?", turned Wednesday her attention to Flora who was listening to their story with a big engagement. "Me? Oh, uh, I saved you because I like you. I don't think you are my friend tho. But I am definitely yours.", mentioned the brunette and slowly stood up from her uncomfortable position, stretching herself. "I gotta go. Daisy and I are going to town for a little "sister time" before herbology class. Catch ya later!" Wednesday watched as Flora disappeared behind the door and slowly turned towards Xavier. "She's peculiar."
Xavier chuckled. "Flower can be pretty naive and clueless sometimes. She's like a flower bouquet, you know. Beautiful but mischievous." "I find that very intriguing even if she's that cheerful. However, not as cheerful as Enid." Xavier nodded and stood up from the bed now as well. He also had to go and only waved at Wednesday, his lips forming a thin smile. The black haired girl laid back down, processing everything that happened to her. I saved you because I like you. Flora was really naive.

The Primrose sisters arrived in Jericho shortly after Principal Weems and Wednesday. Before driving, the duo stopped by and picked a package from their dad at the letters box in Nevermore. That was a way for the families to send each other something back and forth to keep contact. The package contained two books, one for each, a few family pictures, a pair of funky socks for Flora and a long letter from their father with updates from their mother. Daisy would discuss the situation later with Flora. She needed to be gentle.
The bell of the Weathervane rang, signaling that new customers have entered. Tyler Galpin, the city's very own sheriff son smiled once he saw Flora and Daisy. Flora smiled back. She walked to the counter, ready to order. "One orange juice and one green tea please." She handed Tyler the money and went to sit down with her sister. Two minutes later slurped Flora her orange juice, a big smile on her face. She missed the sweetness very much. Daisy chuckled while waiting for her green tea to get a little cold. "You never change your order?", she questioned and leaned back. Flora shook her head. "Mama always says that oranges are like our life essence." Daisy smiled lightly at her sister's reference. She really did miss their mother. Both girls turned around after hearing the espresso machine to hiss. "Is everything okay, Ty?", questioned Flora and walked over to her friend, letting her sister to drink her tea in peace.
Tyler smiled apologetically at his friend and really tried his best to fix the thing. Flora only giggled and got behind the counter, trying to help somehow. Suddenly both saw a figure appearing in front of them. "Holy crap!", exclaimed both and touched each other's arm to not fall down. "Do you make a habit of scaring the hell out of people?", asked Tyler and shared a look with Flora. "It's more of a hobby.", answered the pigtailed girl. "You go to Nevermore too. Didn't realized they changed the uniform.", mentioned Tyler and looked between the two Nevermore students.
"I need a quad over ice. It's an emergency." Wednesday noticed the puzzled gazes on the two teenagers. "It's four shots of espresso." "Yeah, I...I know what a quad is, but spoiler alert, the espresso machine is having a seizure, so all we have is drip.", answered Tyler and pointed to the pots filled with coffee. "But drip is for people who hate themselves and know their lives have no real purpose or meaning." As soon as Wednesday said that, put the man the pot down together with the cup and left. Flora only shrugged. "I personally don't mind it and I definitely do not hate my life." Wednesday ignored the response clearly. "What's wrong with your machine?", she asked instead.
"It's a temperamental beast with mind of its own, and it doesn't help that the instructions are in Italian.", explained Tyler his problem and handed the paper towards Wednesday as she walked behind the counter. "I need a tri-wing screwdriver and a four-millimeter Allen wrench." Flora immediately handed the things out. She knew her way around those stuff because of her father. He always repaired the stuff at home and taught her the instruments step by step. "Thanks.", said Wednesday flatly and took the items. "Wait, you read Italian?", asked Tyler confused and looked at his friend who only shrugged her shoulders. "Of course. It's the native tongue of Machiavelli.", answered Wednesday. "Here's the deal. I'm going to fix your coffee machine, then you're going to make my coffee and call a taxi." "No taxis in Jericho.", piped Flora out and smiled lightly. "Try Uber?" "I don't have a phone. I refuse to be a slave to technology.", declared Wednesday and continued to fix around the machine.
"Then you're out of luck. Where are you going anyway?", asked Tyler suspicious and shared a glance with Flora. "That's on a need-to-know basis. What about trains?" "Nearest station is Burlington. It's half an hour away." "You have a valve issue. I've seen it before.", said Wednesday, continuing to fix. "Where? You have one of these monsters at home?" "Steam-powered guillotine. I built it when I was ten. I wanted to decapitate my dolls more efficiently.", explained Wednesday. "Yeah, because that makes a lot of sense.", mentioned Flora, getting herself into the conversation. Finally the steam began to vent. "I never met a Nevermore kid who got their hands dirty." Flora punched her friend's arm lightly. "Except Flower. She's a big help from time to time when it comes to the green inventory." "Thank you!", declared the brunette and smiled proudly at herself. "I'm Tyler, by the way. I didn't catch your name or is that on a need-to-know basis too?" "That's Wednesday, actually. The new girl I was talking about earlier this week.", informed Flora and introduced Wednesday. "Tell you what, Wednesday. To show my appreciation, how about I drive you to Burlington?" "Perfect. Put that quad in a to-go cup.", said Wednesday and prepared to leave. "But I don't get off for another hour." The pigtailed girl pulled out twenty dollars, trying to buy Tyler to drive her immediately. The boy refused however and let the girl to walk away.
"Wednesday, come sit with us!", offered Flora and pulled the girl towards the booth where her sister was sat. Daisy put away her phone and was now staring into Wednesday's brown almost black pitched eyes. "The woman from the window.", whispered Wednesday and looked out of the window. Flora rolled her eyes as she saw Lukas Walker and his squad stopping at their booth. "What are Nevermore freaks doing out in the wild?", questioned Lukas and directed his eyes towards Flora. The girl hid behind her jacket. "This is our booth." "Does it have your name on it?", asked Daisy and leaned on her elbow, supporting her head. "Why are you dressed like religious fanatics?", asked Wednesday clearly unimpressed. "They're supposed to be pilgrims. The ones who killed witches and people who are different.", explained Daisy and sipped from her tea. "Potato, po-tah-to." "We work at Pilgrim World.", said Lukas and showed a brochure. "It takes a special kind of stupid to devote an entire theme park to zealots responsible for a mass genocide." "That's exactly what I said. Finally someone who thinks the same way.", said the older Primrose and grinned at Wednesday. "My dad owns Pilgrim World. Who you calling stupid?", asked Lukas slightly angry. "If the buckled shoe fits.", mentioned Wednesday, ready to start an argument. "Guys, back off."
"Ty, it's fine.", spoke Flora up after staying silent for a while. "Stay out of this, Galpin.", said Lukas. "Yeah, stay out of this.", mentioned Wednesday and stood up, facing the Walker boy. "So tell me, freak...you ever been with a normie?", asked Lukas but clearly this was aimed at Flora. And Wednesday noticed. "I've never found one that could handle me." Both stared at each until the pigtailed girl spooked him. That's when a fight broke out between the Addams girl and the pilgrims. Daisy and Flora immediately stood up. "Lukas!", exclaimed the brunette and tried to help the boy up but he pushed her away. A glimpse of hurt in her eyes. Tyler pulled Flora towards himself and hugged her. "So where did you learn those kung fu moves?", asked Tyler and let go of Flora. "My uncle taught me. He spent five years in a Tibetan Monastery." "Now I want to meet your uncle.", added Daisy to the conversation and chuckled while putting an arm around her little sister. "Was he a monk?", asked Tyler concerned. "Prisoner.", answered Wednesday. Daisy blinked and her grin grew wider. Flora nudged her older sister and giggled lightly.
"Sheriff!", spoke the younger girl and looked surprised to see Tyler's father entering the coffee shop. "Tyler, the hell's going on in here?", asked Sheriff Galpin his son, ignoring the Primrose. "Mr. Galpin, sir, these boys were harassing my students," began Daisy and put her hand on Wednesday's shoulder. "and she put them in their place." Galpin senior looked Wednesday up and down, not believing anything he just heard. "This little thing took down three boys?" He turned his gaze towards his son. "Did you help her?" "Sir, Tyler wasn't involved. We swear.", spoke Flora up and shook her head. "Please don't underestimate Wednesday. She proves that everytime." The girl shut up once she saw her principal coming in. She immediately hid behind her sister. Larissa gasped at what she saw and looked at Galpin senior with an embarrassed glimpse in her eyes. "Apologies, Sheriff. This one slipped away from me. Come on, Miss Addams, time to go." As Wednesday wanted to leave, stopped the sheriff remembering something. "Hang on. You're an Addams? Don't tell me Gomez Addams is your father? That man belongs behind bars for murder. Guessin' the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Wednesday only stared, not moving an inch. "I'm gonna keep my eye on you."
"Okay. Miss Primrose, I suggest you both leave soon as well. Classes start soon.", mentioned Weems and left together with Wednesday. "I'm also gonna keep my eye on you as well, young lady. Nobody knows what will happen if you hang around that girl." Daisy put a protective arm around her little sister, slowly guiding her away. Flora waved towards Tyler and flashed him one of her signature smiles. Sheriff Galpin turned towards his son. "Be careful with those two. Outcasts mean trouble all the way."

Daisy's class has always been a favorite of the students. Not only because of the experiments they did but also because they had to rely on most of their abilities. It was an excuse to train them. "For the next step we will need some water.", read Daisy out loud and searched for a potential student. "Nyla? How about you?" Nyla stood up and slowly walked up to the front. She was a shy siren who didn't spoke much. She liked spending her time doing homework rather than socializing and being in the mold. An interesting individual that needed the right push to leave their cocoon and become a butterfly. The girl faced her teacher, tears forming in her eyes. "I can't do it, Miss Primrose.", whispered Nyla and gulped down her embarrassment. Daisy chuckled and stood besides her. She put a comforting hand on her shoulder and squeezed lightly. "We can do this together. I will help you." Nyla looked into her teacher's eyes. She nodded and stretched out her hand. Water droplets began to come her way from the small bowl Daisy filled up earlier. As the droplets came closer and closer began Nyla to panic. Daisy sighed and stretched out her hand as well. "I got them. Now you put them into the pot. Don't be afraid.", she whispered and watched her student completing the task.
Nyla's mouth formed a small 'o' and watched with amazement what her abilities were doing. "When you isolate fear, your abilities become stronger and are more likely to be controlled. Our abilities are also connected to our emotions. The stronger the emotion the stronger the ability.", explained Daisy for the rest of the class. The bell rang, signaling the end of the lessons for the day. Daisy smiled at her class. "Because everyone did great today I won't assign any homework. However, I want you to continue to practice your abilities even if it is the tiniest bit of training." The students cheered in victory and ran out of the classroom with happy smiles and chattering away. The brunette scanned the room, making sure no one was seeing her. She stretched out her hand again and watched the water droplets forming into a water ball. She put it gently into a big test tube that was attached to a glass tube and lit up fire beneath it once again like she did yesterday and the days before. She had to continue with her experiment and document everything to her father. Time couldn't be wasted. Not anymore.
The Primrose didn't notice that someone was watching her, writing down every single one of her moves that she was doing. The person smirked to themselves. Good luck figuring that out!

"Rowan?", asked Flora Primrose into the shadows of the Nightshades library the following evening. The girl walked down the stairs and slowly went over to the boy. He looked tortured and very unhealthy. "Is everything okay?" "Everything is fine, Flower.", he answered and ripped out a page from one of the books. Flora noticed that and rose her eyebrow. "It doesn't seem like it." Rowan faced his best friend with slight anger in his eyes. "You don't have to know everything. Some things are better to stay hidden.", he replied, making the girl to blink in surprise. "I'm sorry if I sounded too snoopy or anything. I just wanted another book.", apologized Flora and crossed her arms over her chest, eyeing the boy. Rowan shook off his anger and met Flora's eyes. "Which book do you want?", he asked, offering to give it to her. "The dark red one. It's about legends and mythology among outcasts.", explained the girl and watched as Rowan lifted his hand, pulling the book down. Flora caught it and watched as the boy began to leave. "What are you up to, Rowan?", asked the girl as she stood half on the way of the staircase, the book hugged close to herself. The boy looked over his shoulder. "You'll understand soon enough, Flower." The brunette squinted her eyes and ran up once her friend was gone.

What the hell was that? Why was he being that way? Did it had something to do with what happened between them a few weeks ago? She thought they'd been through it. They were better off as friends. "A penny for your thoughts?", questioned Xavier as he observed Flora's face expressions while trying to read the book she lent from the library. The girl looked up confused. "What?" "You look kind of troubled. Something is bothering you." Flora blinked again and shook her head. "I met Rowan in the Nightshades library. He was acting weirder than usual and he also snapped at me!", she exclaimed and closed the book while sliding down the wall that was not covered with paint. "He snapped at you?", repeated Xavier the girl's words and did the same. "But he's never done that before." Flora nodded in agreement. Xavier put an arm around her. "What about you?", she asked in return. The boy shared a look with his friend. "I'm afraid Rowan might do something to Wednesday." Flora furrowed her eyebrows. She pushed Xavier away and stood up. "He wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone Wednesday!", exclaimed Flora in sudden rage. The troubled artist shook his head and faced the brunette.
"You can be really naive Flower. You have to face that not everything is rainbows and sunshine." "I'm not naive. I do believe that people are truly good! Rowan is an example. He's very gentle and always asks before doing anything. He listens and never interrupts.", began the girl but got cut off by Xavier. "People always have two sides. Not everyone is 'truly good'. I'm just trying to protect you, like everybody else." Flora felt hot tears to run down her cheeks. She quickly wiped them off. "I don't need to be protected! I'm not a child anymore!", she shouted and ran off, leaving Xavier Thorpe behind, guilt washing over him.

Naive. An adjective of a person or action showing a lack of experience, wisdom or judgment. That's what Flora was. This word described her whole personality and the students of Nevermore knew that. That's why the girl was an easy target. She liked to believe in the good. But without bad there wouldn't be any good to believe in, right?
Flora Primrose walked around the school, tears clouding her vision. She wanted to leave the book in her room, in hopes not to bump into anybody that would force her to go to the festival. She actually looked forward to that but the fight she just faced took all of her energy. The girl couldn't walk anymore and broke down crying, not caring about people finding her. She had enough of everything. Being treated like an innocent child, people telling her who to trust and who she shouldn't. But she was far from innocent. Flora Primrose faced some tragedy on her own. She felt a cold hand touching her shoulder. "Flower, are you okay?", asked Ajax Petropolus with worry in his eyes.
The girl faced him, her mascara smeared all over her eyes, her lipstick smeared. "What happened?", he asked again and kneeled in front of her, taking her hands in his. "I had a fight with Xavier.", she whispered, tears continuing to fall down. Ajax smiled weakly and hugged her tightly. "It's okay. Tomorrow you two are gonna be fine.", he said comforting and helped the girl to come up. He wiped away the tears and gave her a tissue. Soon the make up was gone and all you could see were the red and puffy eyes of the girl. Flora returned the weak smile and put the tissue away. "I was on my way to put this down.", she said and showed Ajax the book, waving it in front of him. "I'm gonna accompany you but afterwards we're going to the festival.", he mentioned and offered his arm for Flora to hook hers in. She accepted and smiled. "You wanna win a stuffed animal, right?" "Absolutely! I've been waiting for months!", said the girl excited and skipped down the hallway arm in arm with her best friend. Ajax really knew how to make her the happy sunshine again.

Flora walked besides her friends, cotton candy in her hand and a big smile forming once she put the cloud sweetness in her mouth. Yoko and Divina also ate some and laughed lightly at their friend's love for sweets. Ajax pulled Flora towards the game where you can win a plush panda, getting the girl to attempt to win. She handed a $5 bill and tried her luck. Unfortunately, Wednesday was faster. "Jeez, you get any better at this, you'll be taking home a whole pack.", mentioned Xavier once he stood there, preventing Flora from seeing Wednesday's face. "Pandas don't travel in packs. They prefer solitude.", said the pigtailed girl and threw another dart arrow, peeking another balloon.
"All right. Subtle hint taken.", said Xavier and turned towards Flora, getting her presence known. "You still want one of those?" Wednesday now also looked at the girl. "I've been waiting months to get one. You of all people should know that.", she answered and walked over to where the new girl stood. Wednesday turned her attention back to the game. "You should know I'm waiting for someone.", remarked Wednesday towards Xavier. "Oh yeah, who's the lucky guy...or girl?", he questioned. "What does it matter to you?", asked Wednesday when suddenly Tyler appeared besides her. Flora hugged her friend tightly and beamed at him. "Didn't mean to interrupt.", apologized Tyler quickly. Xavier then walked away, stopping for a second to glance at Flora who turned her head away from him. She was still mad.
"You're really going to leave?", asked Flora now turning her attention to Wednesday, sadness washing over her voice. The girl nodded. The man whose game belonged to pulled out a giant bear, wanting to give it to Wednesday. "This one's for the smiley sunshine.", referred the pigtailed girl towards Flora who gladly accepted the bear. She hugged him tightly, burying her face into its fur. "You see that sad, lonely woman over there? She needs one of those pathetic validations more than I do. Would you mind distracting her?", asked Wednesday and paid the man for the two pandas and the favor.
The girl then turned her attention back to Flora. She looked sad. "Don't be sorrowful. We don't even know each other.", mentioned the girl and prepared to leave when suddenly Flora grabbed her hand.
Wednesday immediately began to have a vision. Pictures of a child Flora flew through her mind, the accident with her mother and memories of her friends and Miss Thornhill. One in particular was the fight with Xavier and conversation with Rowan. "Wednesday!", yelled Flora and shook the girl awake. The raven haired came back to her senses and stared at the girl with wide eyes. "I said be careful and have a safe travel home. And even tho we don't really know each I'll still miss you.", replied Flora with a light smile. Wednesday nodded quickly and made her way to Tyler. Her thoughts were by Flora's mother. What happened and why did she looked so scared? Flora shook that off and walked back to her friends group.

"Looks like Flower got her bear after all!", cheered Ajax and patted the big panda. "What's his name?", asked Kent, nodding towards the stuff animal. "His name is Batch.", answered Flora, cuddling the bear tightly with a big smile. "Rowan, come back!", heard the brunette someone to shout. She turned around, her mood changing quickly. Follow them!, whispered the voice in her head. Yes, she's been hearing voices. Again. The girl handed the giant bear to Yoko and ran off to follow the voice. She ran past Tyler, not acknowledging his yelling.
Fireworks were the only source of light guiding Flora Primrose through the dark forest. The girl ran as fast as she could, trying to identify the voice that was shouting. Her feet took her to a scene she wished she didn't saw. "Rowan!", she yelled out in fear. "What are you doing?" The boy's head turned towards her, a smile on his face. "Remember what I told you, Flower? Now you'll finally understand." "Understand what?", asked the girl confused, stepping forward. "Why I'm doing what I'm doing. She's a threat to Nevermore. A threat for you. I'm doing this for you.", declared the boy, scaring the brunette even more now. She shook her head, tears swelling up in her eyes. "Put Wednesday down, please!", begged the girl. "You're not like this!" Rowan laughed out loud in a manically way. "Flower, you just don't get it. It is my destiny to stop her from destroying the school and everyone in it." Flora blinked. "But not like this.", she whispered and touched his shoulders. "Please, Rowan. Please don't do this. You will regret it later for having someone else's blood on your hands." But the boy didn't had the intention to stop. Instead, he pushed his friend back with his other hand, getting her out of the way. He began to choke Wednesday, ignoring Flora's begging and crying. Suddenly they heard a branch to crack.
A bestial snarl was the last thing Flora heard while watching her best friend being killed in front of her. A banshee like scream escaped her lips while hot tears were running down her cheeks. "Rowan! No!", she shouted and punched the monster with her powers. Out of her pocket she pulled out two seeds, throwing them on the ground and growing two huge flowers named Wesley and Welton, a gift from her grandmother for her 14th birthday two years ago. With anger in her eyes she ordered the two plants to attack the creature but soon stopped them after it faced her. Flora would never forget those red eyes, looking at her. The monster left. A relieved sighed escaped Flora's lips. The seeds were now back into her hand and she put them back into her pocket. "Rowan!", she called out and ran to the boy who was laying on the ground. She kneeled down, putting his head on her lap, stroking his hair gently. The brunette looked at Wednesday with a tearful expression. She continued to cry until a paper landed on his chest. Wednesday picked up, showing it to the girl. Flora turned her eyes towards Rowan, kissing his temple.
She stood up and walked towards a bush were she vomited. This was too heavy for her. Someone she cared deeply about has been murdered by an unknown to her creature. Her best friend was murdered and she witnessed it! Flora felt herself getting dizzy. Wednesday observed the girl, seeing her no longer on her feet. Flora was unconscious.
Rowan has been murdered but before that he was trying to kill Wednesday because of a picture while wanting to protect Flora. The Primrose sisters also had a mystery on their own and Wednesday was determined to find that out. Starting her investigation off with a drawing, she would need help from no other than the person who knew Rowan the best. Flora Primrose.
