Chapter Two.

The week went by so fast and it was so boring coupled with the irregular classes we had, and since it was just the first week a lot of students hadn't resumed and that made it even worse.

Even though I liked the irregular classes, it was still as boring as ever.

I can't wait for Monday to get here, in as much as work will start fully, at least all my friends will be here... I miss Uju, Uju is actually one of our very close friends, but that girl is lazy sha, she doesn't like school at all so she always resumes a week after school resumes.

"Five seconds leave the hostel" Senior Rekiyat shouts with her crooked voice.

I don't even understand what is doing that one....Feeling cool with herself since she entered 'SS3'.

Mtchewww!.

"Bisola, abeg do fast, I'm not ready for this mad woman's wahala" I said to Bisola and we started walking to the gate.

"If I'm late nko, what will she do, is it slap abi is it to wash toilet?, Ejoo let me take my time."

"Two, One, oya everybody run out of the hostel before Aunty Pataka will get here" Rekiyat says but Bisola and I continue walking in fact we reduced the pace at which we walked.

We would never miss out on an opportunity to annoy her.

"So Bisola you people are using me to catwalk abi, will you run out before I slap both of you" Rekiyat said and we simply hissed.

"Did you just hiss?"

"Ask the fish" I said and eyed her before we walked out of the hostel but started running to the dinning hall when we saw Aunty Pataka chasing people to the dinning hall.

I felt like vomiting as the smell of the dinning hall hit me. The smell can make a dead body rise up I swear.

"Food prefects control this people, food will soon be ready" Madam Rosa the cook said before going back to the kitchen.

After sharing our food we ate and left the dinning hall and walked to our classes just as the bell rang for assembly.

"Good morning students"

"Good morning sir"

"How was your night"

Really how was your night? Oga go straight to the point

"Fine sir"

"I just want to inform you about the basketball team coming to practice with the school's team before the real match that will be held on the 28th of April, I want you all to be of good behavior, is that clear?."

"Yes Sir"

"Thank You"

We sang the National Anthem and went to our classes after a few minutes.

"Chioma is that not your bag on the floor?" Fatima asks and I turn to check if it's mine.

"Ah it's my own, Daniel shey your the one that put my bag on the floor?" I ask Daniel because I remember putting my bag on his chair because I was rushing to the assembly ground.

"Ehen? when you left it on my chair what did you expect? Abi I should come and sit down on your chair?." He says with his very deep voice.

"Abeg Gift pass my bag I'm not ready for you people's trouble today" I tell Gift who's sitting close to him.

"Take your bag" she says and drops it on my table.

"Thank you beta person"

"See you, as big as you are, no common sense " I said to Daniel but he just ignored me, I guess he's already used to my drama.

"Ehen since we won't be having so many classes today and most importantly Mr Adeleke, our first period teacher won't come, what would we do to keep ourselves
busy" Jessica asked.

"What are you people do? " Posi, asked out of nowhere.

All these boys. No sense.

"Gbagaun" Fatima shouted. I could hear subdued laughter from her.

"Come, what's your own sef? I asked. Now I wish Uju was here. If she was here this boy won't even have the audacity to come here talk less of opening his gutter to talk.

What are you people do, can you imagine?!

"I just asked a question " He said, still forming fresh boy. Some boys sha.

"That's how to ask question in your village" I asked. "First of all, who invited you here?, you can't even speak simple English sef, I'm sure our English teacher has given up on his mission to save you."

"Abeg, it's okay, all these nagging wives, just simple question I ask" He said.

Another one!!

"Who are you calling nagging wife? Ehn! Talk now let me slap you idiot, I can see that sense has been running away from you since you were a child, abeg fuck off! " Jessica replied, this time ready to beat him up any second.

"Abeg o, let me be going, someone cannot play with you again " he said and left.

You should have stayed!

"Sit down, don't mind him. " I said as she sat.

"You know some boys from are coming for basketball practice today " Fatima said and that's how her mood lightened up.

"Yes, I'm not really looking forward to it sef" I said nonchalantly. "All those proud boys that like to form."

"Walking as if their leg has broken and they'll call it bouncing" Jessica said.

"Ahn! ahn! You know they are usually very fine boys, I can't wait for them to come" She said.

"Faruk nko? " I asked.

"What happened to him" she frowned trying to hide her blushing face.

"You know he really likes you and I know you like him too" I said to her. "I don't know why you are looking for what you already have. " Jessica said.

"What do I have, abeg I can't wait to see them"

"It's not like they'll even notice you, abi do you play basketball?" I said.

"So you're saying that I'm not fine?." Fatima asked.

"I'm not saying that but just give him a chance, do you know how heartbroken he'll be when he sees you with another boy" I replied.

"Whatever" She said.

We continued talking, since most of our teachers didn't attend classes today. I wonder what happened to all of them. The class became boring, and Uju wasn't in school today.

"This class is too boring abeg, I'm going to see Tobi" I said.

"The Tobi in Ss3 abi? "Jessica asked.

"Eh! Yes" I replied and I walked out before she questions me further.

I didn't really have to walk to his class because I met him on the way, walking with his friends to God knows where but I didn't even care, I had to scatter the little circle, and I know if my friends were here they would have advised me to wait but now I'm alone and I'll do what I want.

"Tobi" I called.

He turned back and when he saw me he smiled. This is probably the first time he's seeing me since we resumed.

"Guys, make una dey go class, I go come class later" He said to his friends and they left.

"Chioma, how are you?" He asked.

"I'm not fine, since we resumed you didn't even think of looking for me" I said feigning hurt.

"It's not like that, I just resumed yesterday, that's why " He said.

"Okay come and sponsor me, I'm hungry" I said.

"As what?"

"As my school father na"

"You're not alright"

"Ahn ahn please na"

"Okay oya take" he said and handed me a fresh 500 Naira note.

"Fresh boy, fine boy no pimple, see as you fine" I said trying to make him forget about the change.

"Ehn I have heard, bring back my change"

See him, he cannot even form better fresh, he's still asking for change, Mtchewww I thought he was even going to give me everything.

"Okay, I want to go before that Motunrayo will come and start eyeing me as if she's going to kill me"

"It is my girlfriend that you're talking about like this"

"Girlfriend my foot"

"Okay na Motunrayo come and see ooo they're insulting.... "

I started running before he could even complete what he wanted to say before the so called Motunrayo will come with her friends to kill me in the night.

Abeg ooo achorom nsogbu I don't want problem.

I walked into the class and found Gift sitting on Jesse's lap. That girl has been forcing herself on him, but he doesn't want. She doesn't understand that guy no want. He will just use her and dump her. What Uju will like to call chop and clean mouth.

"Chioma did he give you money?"Jessica asked.

"Yes so what are we going to do with the money" I asked.

"Me I don't even know let's just go to the tuck shop and check maybe we'll find what to buy"

"Yes it's even break time let's go" I said and we left the class for the tuck shop.

It's now time for curricular activities and Fatima is especially happy because it's time for basketball, while Jessica and I are not because all SS2s are meant to be there.

Basketball in my school is for only SS2 because the principal says that SS3s will too busy reading and the juniors are not particularly fit for the game, even though there are some SS1 students on the team.

"They're here" Fatima said and I turned to see their school bus coming into the school.

"Why na? Me I can't just go and sit down to be looking at dumb people chasing one ball" I said.

"Yeah right and they might not allow us to go out of the court until they're done" Jessica said.

"Me if I want to go nobody can stop me" I said.

"Ehn whatever let's go to the court so that we can sit at the front" Fatima said and started pulling us to the court.

This girl sef!

"Instead of us to go late so that we'll seat at the back and gist, without anybody telling us to keep quiet, you're here saying we should go so we can seat at the front" I said.

"Don't you know Fati?" Jessica asked. "She will not agree instead of her to go and meet Faruk she's here looking for Meadow Hall boys to look at."

"Yes, I like it like that, leave it for me" she said and pulled us into the court.

We were there for some minutes before the players entered and started their games.

After they finished practicing I didn't feel like standing up after eating and drinking of course with Tobi's change and we were also waiting for Fatima who wandered off with some random guy from Meadow Hall, so we just sat there watching the boys gist and pack up.

Just then, I felt the urge to urinate and I got up before informing Jessica.

"I'm pressed, I need to ease myself" I said getting off my seat.

"After spending Tobi's money, you'll definitely have to use the toilet " She laughed a bit.

"Abeg, free me, I'm coming. " I said and I left the court.

I eased myself and I walked back to the court since it wasn't school over yet. I got to the court and before I could enter, I bumped into someone or rather the person bumped into me.

I looked up to see this gorilla figured human being. Don't get me wrong though he wasn't ugly in fact he was really handsome but he was so tall and a bit muscular.

"I'm really sorry, I didn't hit you on purpose, I wasn't looking, I'm really sorry " He apologised but in my usual self, I didn't let him go easily.

"So as big as you are you can't see right, all these boys sef I don't even have your time"

Wait who is more likely to bump into who?

"I'm sincerely sorry" He apologized.

"Whatever"

" I'm Mofe and you're?" He asked.

"Not interested in anything you want to say, so get out of my way" I replied.

"Are you sure about that? Because most girls will like to talk to me"

See this boy o!

"See this one ooo, with your gorilla figure because I didn't slap you, you're here making mouth, just thank your ancestors that you're not in this school or else I would have forgotten my hand on your face, abeg get out of the way joor, let me pass" I said and he just laughed and moved away.

Is this one mad? Chai people of this world! Just laughing for no reason, this is how madness starts. Mtchewww!

"Madam how long does it take someone to urinate ahn ahn" Jessica asked.

"Sorry it was just one mumu boy that bumped into me when I was coming back from the toilet and he was busy telling me rubbish" I said remembering the guy.

"Was he a fine boy?" Fatima asked.

"Fati that's all you know, so Faruk is not enough for you, sha the boy was fine and he even had dimples but his handsomeness has been overshadowed by his annoying attitude" I said.

"Abeg let's be going, let's know what's popping in class" Jessica said and we walked to the class.

Today is Saturday and we're meant to wake up later than usual but today we woke up a little early for a Saturday morning.

We all started our morning duties and finished except for some people like me and well some other people, so I finished later and went outside to fetch my water.

Luckily for me, I was the only one at the tap since most people had already taken their bath.

I put my bucket under the tap and was waiting for the bucket to get full before I was interrupted by the chattering and laughter coming from the gate.

"Oh no" I shouted and started running as fast as I could.

Woah! CLIFFHANGER! I know its absolutely horrible but you know you don't have to mention that right?

Does he seem annoying, like she said?

Most girls (including me) won't react the way Chioma did towards Mofe. If I was in that situation, I'd just let him go after he apologized cause I'm a very quiet and reserved person. *winks* but if he provokes me further .... We shall see!

P. S I still don't know why I chose to write about a basketball game when I have little or no knowledge about it.

Please read on, it might be a bit boring but as the story goes on, it becomes better.
