Penelope's pov:

I was enjoying being the third wheel with Honey and Archie when Jake started to walk in my direction.

I stared at him hoping it would scare him off but a couple seconds later he was stood in front of me.

"Hello Penelope. I've just come over to ask when and where to meet for the project." He said quite quick.

He was probably uncomfortable . "Oh yeah um I'll come over to your house after school." I answered.

He nodded then basically ran off. I guess he's still the awkward bastard he was years ago.

Period 6 bell rang and I ran out of class and onto the quiet streets. I walked for about 20 minutes then I got home.

I didn't have the keys to the house today so I pressed the doorbell. I heard footsteps approaching the door then the key was twisting inside the lock.

My mum opened the door. She was wearing a red dress and heels with a thin jacket. She also did her make up and styled her hair in a bun.

"Oh hello Penelope!" She exclaimed reaching out to hug me. I hugged back then when she got off me I took my shoes off and closed the door.

"Hi mum." I replied. "How was your day?" She asked enthusiastically. "Oh it was brilliant." I said sarcastically.

"School is always shit and to make it even better I have to work with Jake on a project. I'm going to his house in a minute I just wanted to tell you in person and that." I added.

"Oh ok sweetie just don't come back too late and u can warm up some leftover spaghetti cuz me and your dad are going out." She replied.

"You're leaving Nora alone in the house?" I asked. "Oh no she's at a sleepover with this girl called Sasha." She said.

"Ok have fun!...while you're fucking in a sketchy hotel." I muttered the last part then my dad entered.

"Hello Penelope. Hello sweetheart." He said waving slightly then he grabbed some trainers and slipped them on.

I was now walking across the road in joggers and a hoodie. I walked towards Jake's house rethinking all my life decisions then I knocked on the door. No one answered. I knocked again.
