26.5 By the river.

Makise thought about all the possibilities and ways out of this situation. The ugly and the simple. She had thought of it all. The past couple of month had been stressful for her, whether it was hormones or self-induced stress, Makise knew she could not take it anymore.

When Taemin had left for the bathroom, something pushed Makise. Something told her that this was the time. The perfect time.

"I'm..uh.." She sat up quietly as Minho eyed her questionably.

"I have somewhere to go real quick..but just tell Taemin it don't be long okay?"

"Er..okay." Minho nodded slowly. And Makise had felt strangely. A quick glimpse of jealousy and murderous thoughts. She retained herself and forced a casual smile.

Thank you so much. Have fun y'all

The two smiled at each other whilst she rushed up the stairs to her room. She closed the door and locked herself in-why? Anxiety. She grabbed her purse and a picture of her mother she had been hiding in one or her drawers. Before going downstairs she looked at herself in the tall mirror. She was been wearing a long flower chiffon dress, nothing to eye catching as the colors were pastel beige and pink. But her stomach had began to show, making her anxiety even worse everytime she even glanced at it. Soon the baby was suppose to be born.

She looked away from the mirror and grabbed a sunhat and sunglasses. It was surprisingly warm and sunny right now and was going into four o'clock. She took a deep breath before heading out of the room and heading back downstairs. To her relief, Taemin was still inside the bathroom.

"Well, thank you Minho." She smiled before leaving.

"Yeah, no problem." Minho sat up, obviously watching her as she walked out of the door.

She waved one last time and headed out. At first slowly. But then, as soon as she was out of the gates she rushed away. To the closest bus stop near by. She was quickly out of breath but wanted to get far as well, not once looking back. Once on the bus she reached for her phone. Her hands were shaking, her heart thumped. If her intuition was right it would work...

She opened the chatroom between herself and her mother in law. With shaking fingers she typed.

> Please hurry home.
> I'm sorry.

She turned off her phone as soon as the messages were sent and almost immediately felt like throwing up. She looked down at her lap and closed her eyes shut.

You're doing the right thing, you're doing the right thing.

She looked around after a few more bus stops and got off, feeling less nauseous. A bridge could be seen from here. It was one of the rivers Makise had enjoyed going to. She walked there solemnly, being pulled in more and more as she heard the sounds of the current. She walked down carefully, reaching the rocks of the river fully unnoticed. The sky was getting grim. Almost mocking her directly.

The wind blew softly on her face, appeasing her only the slightest. As she opened her eyes, she could see the apartment building, where she had made the mistake, the horrible mistake that she actually could not see regretting. Makise had always loved rivers. Even before then. They were free of flow and crossed many different spaces. The nearby habitants almost seemed nonexistent, but when one kept their eye and ears open, they could be discovered.

Buzz. Buzz. Swoosh. Swoosh.

"Miss!"

Makise froze.

"What are you doing, this is dangerous!" The voice came closer, soon enough an arm had grabbed her and pulled her further away from the river. She hadn't realize that the water had been reaching her ankle. But as she followed the hand that pulled her, her shoes seemed heavy due to them being soaked in water.

"I, I-"

"The current might be slow but the river is deep ma'am."

The voice came from a very young man. Raising her head to see the young lad, Makise met him eye to eye. It seemed that they both were about the same height, but it was clear that the other was younger in age. Probably about 15 or 16 years old.

I know that it's deep..

"I'm sorry.."

"Ma'am?"

"Th-Thank you, for your help..I mean-"

"Woah, miss are you pregnant?! Sorry, I just noticed the bump."

Makise is taken off guard. Her hand unconsciously moved to her stomach, rubbing gently at her growing tummy. She nods and before she can even mutter anything the teenager speaks again.

"My mother is too! We're about to have a little sister. She will be the first girl!" The lad rants and all Makise can do is stare. The easy-going aura from the lad, his joyful mood and proud smile. Was such things only reserved to the youth? It was so..beautiful.

"My mom says she'll be the last child since she already had three boys, including myself. I'm so exited to protect her. I'm only 15 and my brothers make fun of my height because they're giants, but I know I can definitely protect her. Plus my bros are old anyways they wouldn't be able to do it."

"I'm very happy for you, you seem happy about her arrival. She is lucky." Makise smiles at the other fondly.

"I am exited! My mom keeps saying we'll be terrible brothers though." The young man chuckles sheepishly. "But i'm really exited. I want to be an awesome big bro."

Makise stares.

"Sorry for ranting though, you must think I'm a crazy kid." The lad rubs his neck chuckling.

Makise shakes her head.

"Ma'am, you also need to be careful. Please stay safe with your baby. I know I'm only a boy, and having a baby is not easy but...I hope this baby brings you joy, just as you will give back." The lad smiles brightly at her belly.

"Oh.."

The male looks back up at Makise, only to be taken aback by her expression. He gasps softly, putting a hand in front of his mouth.

"Oh? Ma'am are you crying?"

Makise smiled, feeling the tears run down her cheekbones to her chin.

"I guess I am."
