2. Frog Eyes
Previously, in the Minty atmosphere:
"Okay, here we are." he says as we arrive on campus.
He stops in front of the main entry and I get off.
"Thanks." I say handing him his helmet with a smile.
"Mhm." he nods putting on the helmet.
"You should hurry up now, and fix your hair a bit." he says.
"Whatever. If I see you again I'll pay you back. And please don't go around telling people you gave me a ride either, they would be weird."
He doesn't say anything, but I know he was still smiling. He made his engine roar and rode away.
I get out my phone and dial Key's number.
"I'm here." I say before hanging up. I open my camera app and use it as a mirror as I fix my hair.
What an asshole...thick eye browed frog looking dude.
"He didn't even tell me his name. "
_________
"Taemin you traitor! How could you just leave me with Jonghyun in Lecture?! That's just rude and low of you!" Key yaps as soon as he sees me, emphasizing on the word 'Lecture'
I sit up and brush myself off. I've been laying on a bench in front of the language department building for the past 30 minutes. I did tell Key I was here when I arrived. That didn't mean I was going to class.
"Hello to you too Key." I grin.
"Hey, what's wrong with being with me?" Jonghyun frowns looking up from his phone.
"Hey Jonghyun." I wave at him and he waves back smiling.
"Don't sarcastic 'hello' me. We waited for you!" Key yaps ignoring Jonghyun.
"Feels nice to be loved. " Jonghyun mumbles with a snort and goes back to whatever was captivating him on his phone.
I roll my eyes and go side hug my angry friend.
"Umma. It's not my fault I got here late. Mint was out of fuel. Plus I didn't want to disrupt the class. And you should've been here to see what happened. I just saved a cat from a tree over there and walked an old lady all the way to the laundromat because she didn't know where it was." I said as pitiful as possible while giving Key my best puppy eyes.
I could hear Jonghyun chuckling.
Of course Key didn't believe me. It would have been something if he did. But he couldn't resist me either.
"Whatever, stop your lying you ungrateful child." he says pushing my head lightly.
Key behaved like my mother more than my actual mother did at times.
"You hungry? Did you eat?" he asks as usual, looking at me with his motherly cat-like eyes.
I smile and nod.
"Yeah, I ate. Still a little hungry though." I admit.
Even with Eunbi's breakfast, I felt that i wouldn't mind eating a second breakfast, or a small bagel at least.
Key shakes his head and grins. He gets something out of his bag and hands it to me. Something wrapped up in a white wrapper. I raise an eyebrow but take it anyways.
Donut.
I smile cheekily and huggle Key.
"Awe, thanks so much umma!" I tell him rubbing my cheek against his.
"Alright, alright. Now eat it, we still have to go to our classes. And you're taking me to my class young man."
"Alright." I chuckle taking a bite off my donut.
"Hey- I didn't get a donut." Jonghyun pouts as we walk Key to his next class.
"Yeah, because I don't like you like I like my son." Key snorts.
"Ooh..You cut me deep Key..You cut me deep."
These two are just the best when it comes to distracting me.
______
After dropping Key off at his fashion design class and Jonghyun, whom I had to force, at his math class, I immediately head to the Uni's park (not really a park, just an open space with grass and benches).
I didn't feel like doing anything today and I sure as hell didn't want to head into study hall. Too many books in the morning gave me a headache.
I walk to a bench that stood under a tree which gave it a nice shady spot. I sit down and lay my legs on the whole bench, stretching a bit. I really needed a break. I get out my phone and plug in my earphones which, for once, hadn't tangled up in my pocket. I put the ear-buds in my ears and select a random song on my iPod player. Bi Rain's 30 Sexy starts playing.
I should've checked if the dance room was empty. I suddenly felt the urge to dance.
I sigh and play a bit with my hair, elbow on the bench looking a bit at my surroundings but not really looking. I then noticed these two people. They were walking through the little walkway made of bricks. Smiling and giggling, totally inverted in their conversation.
Tall figure.
Thick eye brows.
Dark hair.
Frog eyes.
I watch as he and the other person talk and get closer to where I am. I roll my eyes and sink on the bench, basically laying on it now while my left knee is folded. I look at my phone and change the song. I wish I had my iPod right now, there's more songs on it.
I put my phone on my stomach and close my eyes. A few seconds pass and I feel a finger tapping my knee. I open my eyes to find big black eyes under short-blondish-hair smiling down at me.
"Yes?" I ask taking out one of my ear bud and trying to smile.
"You're Taemin right?"
"Yeah..?" I say. I glance to the right and see the long legs.
"I'm Amber." She smiles brushing her short hair back and extending her hand to me.
I sigh and sit up looking back at her. I don't even remember seeing her around here.
"Alright..?" I smile hiding my annoyance and confusion.
I notice the frog eyes staring at me. I nod at him and he smiles. Something weird about his eyes though. It was as if he was trying to read me out.
"W-Well uh-" Amber brushes her hair back.
"I was just wondering if you know..You could help me out sometimes with the choreographs and stuff. I'm in your dance class, and your study hall too by the way, aren't you going right now? Anyways, I want to be in the music industry but I really suck at dancing, that's why I didn't go into a prestige art school and all." she blabs on.
I raise an eyebrow. I'm not even sure what I should be paying attention too right now. She's saying too much.
After lots of ranting, frog eyes suddenly chuckles.
"Yah. I told you I'll help you with the dancing, didn't I?"
She turns her head to him and snorts.
"Minho. I love you, but... you suck. You look constipated when you dance."
Minho pouts and pinches her cheek moving it side to side as she repeats 'ouch' and tries to get her cheek away from his grip.
"At least I can sort of dance you confused octopus. And we promised to help each other out. Plus why would you disturb someone you don't even know? Tch. Rude American llama alert." he clicks his tongue.
He turns to me and smiles apologetically. I have to bite my lip not to laugh at his previous action.
"Excuse her. She doesn't know when and when to not disturb people sometimes. Um. Bye. And sorry again for disturbing your nap."
Llama? Is that his pet name for her? Ew.
He grabs her hand and drags her away before I can even say anything.
"But, but..." I can hear her say as she is dragged away.
This is probably the strangest couple I've seen in years. I watch them walk away for a while and once I don't see them, I put my ear-buds back in and lay back down. Nap time.
_______
Mmm... It smells so good around here. I snuggle on the texture a bit. I felt as though I was on a cloud. Then everything suddenly feels cold. I flutter my eyes open to see four legs next to me. A pair of black skinny jeans and a pair of really skinny and tight pink jeans. Crap.
I sit up quickly and plaster a smile on my face.
"Hi Jonghyun..Hi Key." I try to say sweetly while taking out my ear-buds.
"Hello Homeless-Tae." Jonghyun chuckles and Key glares at him making him look away. I would glare too, but I'm the one in trouble this time.
"So, Tae. How was Study Hall." Key says glaring at me and emphasizing on the 'd' (a/n: lol) and the 'l's.
"Well.." I clear my throat and play with the hood of the hoodie on my lap...the hoodie on my lap.. Not mine. I frown at the navy blue hoodie.
"Is this yours?" I ask confused looking at both Key and Jonghyun.
"Yah. Don't try to change the subject! And does it look like I would wear that? It's still kinda hot out." Key says.
"Jonghyun?"
He looks at the hoodie and shakes his head.
"Nope. That's a Frat sweat. I don't do that."
"Right.." I sigh. This was creepy. Did someone think I was some homeless dude? Though that smell-
"Anyways Tae, don't try to change the subject!" Key says taking the hoodie and throwing it on the bench next to me.
"You're going to your next class and I'm taking you, you hear?!"
I pout letting a small groan vibrate in my throat.
"But Key I'm-"
"Nope. No, Key. Don't even try to Umma me. You've missed half of the day already. You left me in Lecture with Jong and didn't make it to your study hall. Now get up and let's go. You're going to your Japanese class you spoiled brat."
I get up, shoulders hunched, and Jonghyun chuckles. I glare at him and hit his shoulder.
"Ouch." he grins.
"Where's your bookbag anyways?"
I raise an eyebrow and facepalm myself.
"Shit. It's in my car. Ouch!"
I rub my arm which Key just hit.
"Language."
I roll my eyes. Kibum's favorite part of the dictionary was the foul words section, but for some reason he didn't like that i used them. I sigh and keep rubbing my arm.
"Do I have to go to class? I don't even have my bag? Can't I just go to dance after lunch?"
"Taemin, you're not even appropriately dressed for dance. If you can dance in them jeans, you can almost definitely sit in your Japanese class honey."
Ugh. I hate when he's right.
"Can't I just borrow one of you guy's dance pants?"
"I'm not letting you borrow and rip another pair of my sweats Tae." Key says looking away. Guess he was still mad about that. Haven't tried doing the splits since then.
"Jonghyun?"
"Sorry brother, lent them to Hara." he winks.
I shake my head and notice Key making a repulsed face. He always judged us when it came to our adventures with girls. He felt girls shouldn't be treated the way we treated them. Not that he wasn't right, but it's not our fault they act as if they liked being treated like side hoes, was it?
"Ugh. Alright I'll go to class. So please Key. Lend it to me. Pretty please."
He looks at me and sighs.
"Alright. But you're going to Japanese."
I pout but give in. I needed to dance comfortably.
"Alright, alright..."
________
Japanese class was a bore. I've known Japanese since I was 10 years old, and the only reason I'm taking this class is because a certain CEO wants a certain son to impress his Japanese-in-laws and the business world. I'm pretty sure it isn't un-common for Koreans to know Japanese though. So I don't see how I'm impressing anyone. Plus the family knows I've basically always known Japanese thanks to all the anime I've watched.
But today was different.
I head inside the class with a sigh and lazily look towards my usual spot. One of the farthest sits in the back. Halfway through the lesson, just before i was getting ready to doze off, a certain tall, dark haired frog eyed boy walks in.
The professor looks offended for a few seconds but then a big smile appears on her face once she looks at him smiling back at her. I glance around as students around the classroom break in quiet whispers.
"Isn't that Minho?"
"Shouldn't he have waited before coming in? "
"Who cares, if he's in this class I'm definitely staying awake."
"Still ruuude."
"He even got the professor blushing."
The whispering kept going, while the professor and Minho discussed something quietly. After a minute, both smile and she signals for Minho to go find a sit. I move uncomfortably in my sit as I see him coming closer and closer to me. I try to act as though I'm looking on notes only to remember that I didn't have my things. Well, why would it matter if I look at him, it's my right. What's wrong with me?
He is just about a row ahead when my eyes accidentally move to him. His eyes catches mine and he gives me a small smile.
"Hey." he mouths.
I simply nod in return and smile, most likely awkwardly. I, for some reason, couldn't speak.
I thought he was coming next to me before he sat in the row right in front of mine, excusing himself as he took a sit in between a brunette and a nerdy looking guy. I bite my lip softly and glance to my left and right.
I forgot students sat next to me. I look at the back of his head and sigh softly, wondering how it will be staring at the back of his big head almost everyday.
"Ah, so how does it feel to go to class son?" Key says as soon as I get out the language department building. I glare at him but soon put on a sad pout face.
"Okaa-san, it was horrible."
He rolls his eyes and shakes his head.
"Whatever, let's go get the other idiot so we can go eat. I'm starved."
We walk to our meeting spot and wait for Jonghyun. Once Jonghyun is out we have to go through the usual 'What are we eating for lunch and who is paying for it?' ritual. That always takes us about fifteen minutes.
"I want to eat at a restaurant!" I wine.
"We're not going to eat at A La Fleur Tae! Stop being an expensive kid." Key yells after he is chosen to be the good Samaritan and pay for our meal today.
"I never said that. How about Ambracci's?"
"No." Key sternly answers.
"Yeah, last time I heard my wallet cry when the bill came out. If we go there I am most definitely not paying."
"Shut up Jonghyun! You're rich but as cheap as your hair dye."
"Key, to stay rich you have to be cheap. Not go around and spend money like you kids."
"How much you pay for your insoles?"
"Fuck you, Key. Taemin, it's not funny."
I bite my lip trying to hold my laughter in.
"Alright..How about Alfredo?" Key proposes.
Ugh. If only I had my wallet. Left it in my bag.
"I could go for Alfredo right now." Jonghyun nods in approval.
They both look at me and I sigh.
"But I want juicy steeak." I whine dragging the steak.
"Do you have your wallet?"
"..No."
"Alright, Alfredo it is!" Key smiles happily.
