13. Mr.Horrikita

Taemin POV:

The week went by slowly as usual. All i was exited about was the date. Me and Minho's date.

We did our best sneaking around. We sometimes met in the library, in between classes or at night time. What i was very happy about was my new seat in Japanese class, which was right next to him. I liked that when i fell asleep he would rub my hand or my leg softly as though to sooth me. It felt right (although i should've been paying attention to class.)

"Ready for our date tomorrow?" he whispers in my ear, once we're out the classroom.

"Mhm." I blush looking into his chocolate brown eyes.

"Cool, see you tomorrow, I'll text you." Minho looks around and drops a peck near my lips before jogging away.

"Okay." I blush slightly and walk to the rest of my classes in a daze.

_____

"Bye Jonghyun!"

"Bye tiny Dino!"

"Bye Tae, go kiss a fish Key." Jonghyun waves out of his car before coming out of his parked spot and driving away.

I chuckle and watch Jonghyun's car disappear.

"You and Minho are so suspicious to be honest." Key states shocking me and walking towards his own car.

"Wh-what?" I followed behind, feeling a little light headed from his statement.

"I decided not to bring up the subject after our moment in the car...Wanted to wait till you bring it up but..."

"I don't see what you mean, I'm fine.."

"Mhm. I know. I see you guys whispering into each other's ears looking at each other like two love birds." he crosses his arms and stops in front of his car.

"We don't do that..."i chuckle nervously.

"Right, mhm, and Jonghyun hasn't flirted with half of the living beings on campus."

"Okay Key, you're imagining things now..." i try to chuckled and make this a joke.

"Right, but we both know Mama Key is on point here." he grins before going in his car. "Anyways, love you baby, bye-bye. And tell your lover boy hi for me." he says out of his windows and leaves.

I wave and head inside towards my car, we really had to figure out when we could tell these guys seriously.

Halfway home my phone rings. I put it on bluetooth speaker.

"Hello, baby?"

"Oh, hey mom. Everything okay?"i smile hearing my mother's voice.

"Hi sweetie, yes everything is fine. Sorry for calling right after you finished class, i was just wondering if you could come over to Le Papillon right now?"

"Yeah of course, you sure nothing is wrong?"

"Everything is fine sweetheart, just Makise's dad wanted to see you guys."

"He's in Korea?" I frown wondering why the other was here

"Yeah, he is on a business trip so decided to drop by."

"Oh, okay. Where is Makise?"

"She has my car today, i already called her so she should be on her way. I just took a cab."

"Oh okay, coming then."

"Alright, see you baby.

I sigh and hang up the phone. I wish her dad could have at least called in advance. I sigh and make my way towards Le Papillon. A fancy French based restaurant which only the high class could afford (honestly i liked Japanese food better). Halfway there, at a stop sign, i notice a familiar person in front of a department store. Short hair, chubby face and skin as white as milk.I squint my eyes and notice that person was standing in front of a car similar to my mom's, and seemed in an argument with someone. It looked like Maki, but then again it didn't.

I frown and am startled by the cars behind me honking making me realize the lights were now green.

Honk, Honk!

"Sorry." i sigh driving forward. Maybe it was just someone who looked like her...

"Hi, Taemin!" Mr.Horrikita smiles brightly pulling me into a hug as soon as i near our reserved table.

"Hello." i smile hugging back though this felt awkward since this man had never actually shared any physical affection towards me apart from handshakes.

"How have you been my dear Taemin?" he asks as i mention for him that he could sit back down.

"Good and you mister Horrikita?" i smile taking a sit.

"I've been feeling quite young myself." he jokes making me and my mother chuckle.

"Ah, Tae. So how was your day?" My mother asks with her usual motherly smile.

"Good mom, and yours?"

"I'm a little tired but pretty good actually."

I smile and nod.

"Well my daughter isn't here yet, so how about ordering appetizers for now?" Mr.Horrikita proposes.

"Good idea." My mother smiles.

A few minutes of small talk about business passed and Makise finally showed up. She looked slightly uncomfortable but maybe it was just me. She wore a nice white cardigan with black skinny jeans and flats. She seemed happy to see her father yet at the same time there was something awkward about the whole thing.

"So, how have you guys been?" Mr.Horikitta asks before taking a sip from his whine. He looked between me and Makise. My mother only smiled and kept eating. We had ordered and our food came almost as quickly. Though it was probably because the food quantity was as big as my fist.

"We've been good..." i smile softly before stabbing the green beans on my plate with my fork and bringing it to my mouth.

"Any children in sight?" he asks.

I make sure to swallow and look at my mother who smiled softly and Makise who was not meeting my gaze at all. Thanks for the help Maki.

"Uh..No, not yet." i smile nodding.

Mr.Horrikita clears his throat and takes another sip of wine. "I see."

"But you, have have you been Mr.Horrikita."

"Oh Good Taemin, very good. The market and business all..."

Mr.Horrikita goes on about business. I'm able to understand some of it, though i honestly was losing interest and started getting distracted by other things around the restaurant. My mother seemed into it though and Makise seem to be on the same boat as me.

"Hello." The voice stopped Mr.Horrikita and made me come back from my daze. I turn my head to see a male standing next to me with shoulder legned brown hair, dark chocolate eyes and plum lips. He wore a simple navy blue button-up and black pants. He looked elegant but badass at the same time. And he looked Japanese.

"Excuse me sir, who are you?" Mr.Horrikita questions with a frown.

The guy looked quite familiar, but i couldn't put my finger on it.

"T-Takeshi, what are you doing here?" Makise studders. She looked puzzled and shocked at the same time. (takeshi=yamapi)

"You know this man Makise?" Mr. Horrikita asks as though reading my mind. My mother also seemed to be thinking like be raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, dad, we went to school together.." Makise explains softly.

"Oh really?" Mr.Horikitta says and we all look at the Takeshi guy again.

"Yes, i spotted Maki coming in and i just wanted to come say...hello." he smiles softly not letting his eyes off of Makise who seemed to shift uncomfortably in her seat.

"Wait aren't you Mr.Yamada's son?" Mr.Horrikita suddenly exclaims in realization.

"Y-yes..That is me." the other answers.

"Oh, it's been a while since i haven't seen your father how is he?"

"Well good. Although since he's been laid out it's been a little hard. But he is getting back up on his feet slowly."

Mr.Horrikita seemed a bit taken aback and uncomfortable. I look at my mother who still tried her best to keep a smile on her face. She looked back at me and I knew I wasn't the only one confused then.

Maki's father clears his throat and smiled at the other.

"I'm glad to hear he hasn't given up. I did enjoy working with him..." he sighs and looks around the table.

"Mm, would you like to have lunch with us?" he asks the Takeshi guy who seemed surprised.

"Yes, how rude, you've been standing there." my mother finally speaks smiling at the other.

"Ah? No, i wouldn't want to intrude-" the guy mumbles.

"No such thing, take a s-"

"I-I'll be right back." Mr.Horrikkita is cut off by Makise who suddenly stands up from her seat running towards the bathroom a hand on her mouth.

"Taem-"

"I'm going mom." I stood up getting ready to go after her, whilst not missing Takeshi's worried expression. I frowned and excused myself before heading in front of the woman's bathroom. I didn't enter but opened the door.

"Maki?" my voice echoes inside the woman's bathroom. I look around hoping no one was around, it was empty.

"Ah, Tae?" he voice calls sounding a little weak.

"Are you okay in there?" i question automatically. Seriously, why do people ask this question knowing the other person is not okay?

"Yeah, sorry, i drove here fast, so I'm a little nauseous. You can go back Taemin."

I can almost see her smile.

"Mmm, you sure?" I push a little.

"Yeah."

"Alright, i'll tell mom and dad-in-law."

"Thanks Tae."

I nod walked back to the table, only to find my mother and Mr.Horrikita.

"Is she okay?" Mr.Horrikita asked seeming worried.

"Yes, she is just a little nauseous. She said she drove here quickly." i take my sit.

"Ah, good." he breaths seeming relived.

"That's good." My mother nods wrinkles still showing on her forehead from worry.

"Where did he go?" i asked looking around for the Japanese guy who was now gone.

"Oh, he said he actually couldn't stay because of some business." my mother answers.

"Oh.." i nod.

"Poor lad. I had to let go of his father who had tried hard to stay connected to our company...I'm astonished that he seemed to carry no hard feelings though. He is a real proffesional." Mr.Horrikita nods.

"He must understand that business is business..." My mother adds with a small nod.

Mr.Horrikita hums.

"Pardon me, i wasn't feeling too well." Makise smiles taking her seat next to me as we watch her take a sit.

"It's fine Maki, as long as you're okay." My mother reassures.

"Do you want to go home sweetie?" Mr.Horrikita asks.

"No, it's fine." Makise smiles and takes a piece of steak to eat.

"Alright, so let's just talk and catch up."

"Dad...Have you heard anything from mother?"

"No..."

"Oh.."

Everyone looks down at their plates till Mr.Horrikita breaks the silence.

"So anyways, how is business Mrs.Lee?"

"Ah, it's doing good right now.."

"Oh, i've heard from Mr.Lee that you're doing pretty good.."

"Ah, is that so?"

Seriously if this is what this diner was all about i rather not be here. Ugh. The whole marrying the rich idea was honestly tragic. Especially for the girls. Makise couldn't even speak for herself, or even get to know anything like her mother's whereabouts which was the only reason i was glad to be a man. This dinner was just a bore and waste of time.

Well, at least i had me and Minho's first date to look forward to.
