Chapter 6- Decisions

Dick sighed in his room. What was Barbara thinking? He couldn't be the new Batman. He wasn't skilled enough. The only villain he had recently fought that was Gotham worthy was Slade, but other than that, he was out of practice.

What was Bruce thinking? No way, he'd be able to run Wayne Tech. He was stressed enough being the leader of his own team. And he didn't know the first thing about running a company.

"Knock, Knock."

Dick perked his head up as two knocks emitted from his door.

"It's me." Dick instantly recognized the voice as Tim's.

"Come in." Dick muttered just as Tim stepped through the door frame.

Tim frowned as soon as his looked at Dick," Are you okay? I know this is a lot to put on your shoulders."

Dick attempted a smile," Yeah, but I'm pretty sure I don't have a choice."

"Sure you do, but.... I'd prefer if you didn't go back to your team," Tim's eyes widened when he realized what he had said," I meant because I want you to stay... and be Batman. I have nothing against your team."

Dick smiled a little," Yeah, I understand. And I don't want you to have to not be Robin. It's just gonna be hard to have to tell my team that I have to leave them," Tim nodded," And Bruce put me in his will to own Wayne Tech. because he knew I could do it, and I definitely won't fail him again." Dick didn't really believe he could run the company, but he could try.

Tim sighed," You didn't fail Bruce."

"I'm not too sure about that..."

"Well, I am! Dick, Bruce talked about you twenty four-seven. It was always,'Dick could do this. Dick could do that.' Bruce always praised you. You were the favorite child. I actually hated you for a while because he never talked that way about Jason nor me. Just you. It was always about Dick. I was jealous, but now you're my idol. I know, it's strange, but it's true. So, don't you ever think you failed Bruce because he was proud of you. If anything, Bruce believed that he failed you. He would even check Jump City news about four times a week just to make sure you were okay. If anything happened to you, he would freak. He tried to deny it, but it was obvious."

Dick stared at Tim shocked. He never knew that the boy had actually hated him at one point. Tim's reaction when he first met Dick definitely said otherwise. Though he was also shocked because he never imagined that Bruce would talk about him positively after he left. He figured he would only make rude comments or ignore the subject if Dicks name ever came up.

"I never knew that." Dick muttered as an award silence filled the room. That seemed to happen a lot now a days.

"So, you make up you mind yet?" Dick already knew what Tim was talking about. He was talking about Dick staying and becoming Batman, as well as running Wayne Tech.

Dick nodded. He didn't want to leave his team. He loved them like family, but he knew what he had to do. He came to Gotham to fix everything and that is just what he was going to do.

---

"Hold still." Alfred said as he assisted Dick with new Batsuit sizes. Dick stopped fidgeting as Alfred measured his waist size. If he was going to be Batman, he had to have a whole new suit made to fit him.

Alfred quickly finished measuring his sizes and began his work. Tim looked up at Dick,"So, you're 100% sure about this? I want you to do it, but not against your will."
"I'm sure." Dick nodded. He just wanted to get it over with before he changed his mind. He headed towards the large computer screen on the Bat Cave wall. He quickly accessed it and began looking through the cases. For some reason a certain one seemed to draw attention to his eyes. It was titled Red Hood.

He clicked on the file and read about the criminal. He didn't seem like much. Just another crazy villain who thought he was doing something good by killing others. He word a leather jacket, has s couple of guns for weapons, and a red mask that covered his entire head. His name really did match his appearance.

"That's Red Hood. For some reason Batman took that case solo. He wasn't able to catch the guy, but Bruce definitely knew something about this Red Hood character that he wasn't telling me."

Dick raised an eyebrow. Red Hood looked like an ordinary villain. Why would Batman go solo on a simple villain like him?

All that Dick knew is that if Bruce would have done that to him, Dick would probably just have gotten mad and worked the case anyways. Though now that he was becoming Batman, he didn't have to worry about Bruce hiding a case from him. That still didn't relive any grief. He would have given anything for Bruce to treat him like a kid again.

"I'm sorry about your team," Tim said breaking Dick from his thoughts," I know how much you don't want to leave them."
"It's fine. It's either that or you and Barbara could get in trouble, and I for one don't want to be the cause of that."

Tim smiled at Dick and he headed up the stairs back into Wayne Mansion.

Dick sighed and began looking into the Bat computer files. If he was going to be Gotham he had to catch up on Gotham crime quickly.
Though, before Dick did that, a question suddenly popped in his mind," How did you become Robin?" He asked Tim. Tim looked shocked at first, not expecting the question.
"When I was younger I had seen the Flying Grayson's work. I was a big fan. I eventually saw you, as Robin, do a flip I knew only someone from the Flyings Grayson could do. I used that info to find out yours and Batman identity. It took me forever to get the guts to tell Batman, but I did once I did, he decided to take me in since I had lost both of my parents."

Dick was impressed. Tim had easily found out their identities and at such a young age too.

He then turned back to the computer and started his research.
