Chapter 14- Lies
Dick quickly rushed into his room inside the mansion and shut the door. He rapidly began searching for his luggage he had filled and once he found it, he searched within it for his Robin costume- which he quickly put on. He then dug through his bag once again and grabbed his communicator. He quickly called Cyborgs communicator. It didn't take long for him to answer.
"Hey, Rob." He looked nervous though the screen. As if Robin didn't know why.
"Hey, I just wanted to check up. How are you guys doing?" Robin asked as if he was oblivious. He just needed them to get to the point.
"Uh... Good...."
"We're in Gotham." A voice said in the back.
"Raven, why did you do that?!" Another voice yelled- which belonged to Beast Boy.
Then an argument began.
Robin ignored the bickering teens," Why are you guys in Gotham?"
Beast Boy appeared on the screen," Well.... We're looking for you."
Robin sighed," Well, you found me. We should meet up tonight. How's at the top of Wayne Tech. At 1:00?"
Robin needed the time to be late. Not too late, but late enough for Jason not to notice him sneaking out. He didn't want Jason to start asking questions about where he was going or why he was wearing his suit. He might think that he was getting to same idea as Tim had had.
"We'll be there."
"Okay, good. See you then." Then he hung up."
----
Robin was nervous. He was actually nervous of seeing his team. After being with them for two years, he couldn't confront them. What if they had found out his identity? What if they wanted to take him back to Gotham? He had to leave the team to become Batman. He didn't want to tell them that. He just didn't want to face them again.
"Robin!" Starfires high pitched voice rang through the air as she enveloped Robin in a hug. He hugged back knowing this would be the last time.
"Hey, Star."
"Yo, Rob. So, what's up? Why are you in Gotham?" Cyborg questioned.
"Just business as I said in the note."
"Yeah, and that business is...?" Beast Boy continued.
"None of your business."
"When will you be back?" Raven then spoke.
"I'm actually getting ready to leave now. So, I guess I'll just meet you guys back at Jump." Robin said thinking about his decision of words. Should he have really made them believe that?
"Really? Then we too should begin heading back." Starfire spoke. Robin nodded.
"Yeah, you should." What was he doing? He should be telling them the truth. Not lying to them. He was only making things worse than they already were.
"Well, I have to go continue packing. See you guys at the tower..." He heard a herd of goodbyes as he left the roof of the building. What was he getting himself into?
----
Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and Cyborg strolled into the Titans tower expecting to see their leader, but that's not what they were greeted with at all.
"Wheres Robin?" Starfire asked," I shall check his room." He quickly flew out of the Ops room.
"Do you think he is seriously not here yet?" Beast Boy asked. Then Starfire entered the room once more," He is not in his room nor the evidence room."
"Seriously? Where could he be?" Cyborg asked.
"Maybe we just got here before him..."
The Titans agreed to that theory, so they waited. They waited seconds, minutes, hours, and then it eventually became the next day.
"Robin's not coming back, is he?" Beast Boy sighed.
"You don't know that. Perhaps he just did not want is in Gotham. Robin would not leave without telling us." Starfire attempted to defend The Boy Wonder.
"He did that before! Thats what got us into this mess. Remember the note?" Beast Boy argued back.
"Why didn't he just tell us to leave then? Whatever his reason, it doesn't change the fact that he lied." Cyborg spoke up.
"He should all get some rest. Then we can talk about this tomorrow. We'll call Robin. We'll even go back to Gotham if we have to." Raven said in her usual monotone voice as she headed towards her room.
