Chapter 10- Bickering Brothers
"He's probably just on patrol." Jason murmured," I mean, I'd do the same thing if I were upset."
"He's been out for hours."
"And?"
"Don't you think he would have said something before leaving?"
"I don't know! Go ask the kid yourself!"
"You are no help." Dick rolled his eyes at how careless Jason was being since he was the reason that Tim left in the first place. Sure, Tim's theory probably wasn't the best, but Jason shouldn't have reacted the way he did. Now that he thought about it, why did Tim even go to Jason in the first place.
The two boys were currently in the Batcave and Dick was considering suiting up to go look for Tim. Though he didn't want Gotham to question the fact that the first Robin was back. And if that got on the news, then his team might come looking for him, and he did not need that right now.
"We should go look for him."
"I'm not gonna look for him. If he wants to come back, he will." Dick groaned but then perked his head up as he heard a motorcycles engine make its way into the cave.
"Where were you?" Dick asked worriedly as Tim hopped off his bike.
"Patrol."
"Told you!" Jason yelled out as he began laughing only to be ignored by Dick.
"Why you didn't tell any of us?"
"I didn't know I had to. A few days ago I hadn't even met either of you."
Dick wanted to tell the boy not to leave again or not to talk to him like that, but he had a point. Why should Tim take orders from a boy who only came back because regretted his past choices and a boy who everyone thought was dead just yesterday?
"Just tell us next time."
"Why should I?" Tim paused realizing how the words sounded coming out of his mouth," Look, I'm sorry Dick, I really am, but I think Bruce is still alive. I just... Have this feeling. I don't care what you say. You may think I'm in denial, but I'm gonna go looking for him and you can't stop me."
This is when Jason decided to enter the conversation," He's dead! Get over it! Gosh, does anything go through your thick skull?"
"Jason, shut up!" Dick yelled.
"At least I'm trying. What have you done to find his murderer?" Tim's words send the cave into silence. They realized that they really hadn't been doing anything. They had all been too busy mourning and shocked with Jason's arrival.
"Once again, he didn't do anything about the Joker. Why should I help?"
"Jason, shut up already. No one cares."
Dick sighed," Guys, Tim has a point. We should be looking for Bruce's murderer, but instead we've been fighting like a bunch of kids-"
"Tommy over here is a kid."
"It's Tim!"
Dick rolled his eyes," You see what I mean? We should find out who killed him and stop moping around."
"Why should we listen to you, Golden Boy? I'd rather listen to Mr. In Denial over here."
"I'm not in denial. I know Bruce is alive somewhere?"
"Oh, so now you know that he's alive. What happened to only having a feeling?"
Dick groaned as the boys continued yelling at each other. They weren't going to get anywhere this way. Especially if they couldn't even talk for one minute without bursting into an argument.
Dick began walking out of the cave. He needed some sleep, and maybe everyone would be calmer tomorrow.
"Where are you going?!" Jason yelled at Dick.
"To sleep and you should too. It's getting late."
"What happened to doing something about Bruce's murderer? Wow, you gave up on your own idea." Dick once again ignored Jason as he left the cave.
This is what Dick had to leave his team for?
Sure, he was happy to be back home, but stress seemed to follow everywhere in Gotham. Hopefully, tomorrow they could actually get somewhere with Bruce's murderer and Jason would stop moping about how the Joker isn't dead and Tim would just give up on his idea that Bruce is alive. Though, knowing the two boys, Dick knew that that was highly impossible.
