Chapter 1- Loss in the Family
It was just like any other morning in
the Titans Tower. Raven was reading one of her new books, Cyborg was making breakfast, and Starfire was attempting to assist him. Beast Boy was yelling at Cyborg to put only tofu into the breakfast, and Robin was flipping through the channels of the television.
Robin spoke up," It's been quiet in Jump lately, so after this we will take turns patrolling and check the news for any upcoming threats," Cyborg and Beast Boy groaned while Starfire and Raven nodded. After that, Robin continued flipping through the channels," Jim, don't leave me-"
"Today we will be learning how to cook-"
"Who lives in a pineapple under the sea-"
"Gotham faces a large tragedy as-"
"Next on-" Robin quickly switched the channel back once hearing the word Gotham,"You heard it here, Bruce Wayne, Gotham billionaire was murdered last night during a meeting at Wayne Tech. The murderers are still unknown, but the police are currently looking into it. My best wishes go to Tim Drake, Alfred Pennyworth, and Dick Grayson. Hopefully, Bruce is at peace."
Then at that exact moment Cyborg yelled," Breakfast is ready!"
Robin didn't even seem to hear him. Bruce is dead...
His whole body felt numb and as if he was paralyzed.
I didn't even say sorry...
"Hey Rob, you gonna eat or what?" Beast Boy asked the Boy Wonder.
Robin jerked his head up," What- No, I have to go do something." And with that he darted to his room.
Once he was sure the door was locked, Robin quickly began to pack a bag, but he stopped half way. He sighed as he leaned on the wall of his bed room. He didn't even know what he was doing.
He wanted to cry and just let all his emotions out, but he couldn't. Robin wasn't supposed to do that. He was the Boy Wonder after all.... But Dick Grayson could. Robin quickly reached for his mask and ripped it off. Tears quickly cascaded down his cheeks. Dick buried his head in his hands and just welcomed the tears and emotions. He had once again lost his parents...
After about five minutes he then shakily sighed again as he stood up and continued packing his bag once more.
His placed his mask over his now puffy red eyes and wiped away any signs of tears. He was going to Gotham and he was going to make things right with his family.
Robin placed his phone inside his back pack, and was about to close the bag, but not before his phone rang. Robin raised an eyebrow as he answered it,"Hello?"
"Oh my God, I just heard was happened. Are you okay?! Do you need me to be there?! I can meet you in Gotham in about five minutes at most." Robin quickly recognized the voice as Wally West, AKA Kid Flash.
"Um... What makes you so sure I'm headed to Gotham?"
"Wait- You're not? Are you serious?"
"Walls, I'm going to Gotham, but you don't need to be there."
"You're my little brother! I'm gonna be there."
Robin slightly smiled," Fine, it's a long drive, so meet me in the mansion in about two hours."
"Okay, see you then."
Robin then pressed the end button and packed his phone into his bag. He was about to place his back pack on, but his phone rang once again.
Robin sighed as he set his bag down and dug around for his phone. He finally found it and answered it," What, KF?"
"What?" The voice belonged to Roy Harper, AKA Speedy.
"Sorry, it's a long story. So, why'd you call?"
"I heard- about Bruce. I'm sorry. If you'd like, I could meet you in Gotham. I mean, I just want to help."
"I'm meeting Wally there in two hours. You think you can get there in that time?"
"Of course. See you then." Then they both hung up. Robin waited a minute before packing his bag, anticipating his phone to ring, but when it didn't he packed it.
Robin quickly searched for some pen and paper and wrote a quick letter to the Titans.
Hopefully, it would explain his absence to them and they wouldn't be too curious and go searching for him.
He didn't want to leave them, but he had to do this. He had to make everything right with his family. Bruce may have hated him, but he certainly didn't hate Bruce. Bruce had raised Dick and saved him from Gotham Juvenile Detention Center. Which was hell for a kid his age.
Bruce helped Dick adapt to life without his parents. He helped Dick with school, when he had nightmares, or just even with the smallest and simplest things. Bruce had even made sure Dicks parents murderer was brought to justice. Dick could always count on Bruce to be there. Dick didn't even get to repay him for all that he did.
Robin stood up straight and laid the note on his bed. He held his head high before exiting his room and heading towards the garage.
Time to go back home...
Dear Titans,
I have left because I have some unfinished business that I should have dealt with a long time ago. I will try to come back within three days, but if I don't, don't worry. I will be fine. I just need some time to fix some past mistakes.
Sincerely,
Robin, your leader.
P.S. Please don't let Beast Boy talk you into searching for me.
