Part Two - Chapter One
Hundreds of years later....
Heart wrenching screams of terror seemed to silence all other sounds of the mysterious evening. A young woman whom had given birth only a year ago, watched in terror as her church took away her child.
Worse was to come.
Throwing herself to the ground, the mother screamed out in agony. No soul, unless it was another mother, could comprehend the heartbreak this woman felt. Not even her husband could comfort her.
Her tears were bitter, filled with sorrow, yet her heart remained pure. As woman attempted to force herself to understand the true cause of her grief, her husband come up from behind her, carefully lifting her to her feet again.
Karamatsu's eyes were filled with tears as he pulled his beloved wife close to him, hugging the distressed woman as tightly as he could. Comfort ceased to exist.
"He'll be fine..." Karamatsu tried to comfort, but he got choked up over his own words, beginning to cry with his beloved soulmate.
"This is a-a-all m-my f-f-fault!" Karamatsu's wife cried, burying her head in her husband's neck. "I should have known not to listen to m-my h-heart! It's wrong t-t-to love a priest! You have the c-church! You have no reason to love me! I have sinned against God and the church, and I've made a disgrace of you...I cannot allow you to ever forgive me! I'm not worth it! Please, just murder me now and send me straight to the lake of burning fire!"
"Darling..." Karamatsu spoke softly, loosening his grip on his woman. "I will always love you."
Loud bangs sounded from the back door of the couple's home, the warm glow of fire seeping through the visible cracks in the rustic wood.
Karamatsu's wife pushed away from him, no longer able to smile.
"They've come for me now..." she whimpered, approaching the back door as if she were a lost, abused puppy. "I'm so sorry..."
"Don't go over there!" Karamatsu yelled, quickly grabbing his wife by her wrist, spinning her around back towards him. "They'll only hurt you!"
"And isn't that what God would want?" the woman spat bitterly. "He's taken our only child away from us because of the sin I have committed towards you. Our marriage itself was the biggest mistake in my entire life. I was so blinded by your passion and love for others..."
"You don't have to do this..." Karamatsu whispered sadly. "I don't have to be a priest anymore. I can find a different job in a new city where we won't be seen. I'll gladly do it all for your sake."
Karamatsu's wife backed away from him once again, still failing to smile.
"This is my decision," she spoke boldly.
In that very moment, their back door came crashing to the ground.
Fellow members of Karamatsu's church came inside and confiscated his wife, binding her arms and legs behind her back.
As members were spitting and kicking the poor woman, Karamatsu was being held back by one of his so-called friends, keeping him from saving the poor woman.
In the woman's final moments at home, she twisted her neck around as far as she could, calling out to her husband.
"Keep being the pure man I fell in love with..."
After the members had all left Karamatsu's home, he heard his wife screeching in the distance. A burning was taking place.
