((Yeah no I'm literally constantly updating this. (Long time between chapters is due to - Oh look fnafworld has updated...) - wait what was I doing?))

Scott sighed. "Vincent - that purple man you saw on TV - and I were best friends... Not just that... Like brothers... No, that's not quite the word for it," He shook his head, "But that doesn't matter, you get the picture. He and I worked together for ten years..." Scott shuddered, waves of memories he hadn't thought of in years washing over him. "On that night, the one they say I murdered him? He saved my life. He sacrificed himself so that I could escape..."

"Escape?" Daniel asked. "Escape from what?"

"The animatronics," Scott said, looking up. "Freddy, Bonnie, Foxy and Chica. Friendly kids' mascots, or they used to be. But one night, not long after the missing children incident, they started acting up. Then Foxy got irreparably damaged, and they decided they needed a night shift to watch over them at night. They... They told us - told me - it was just a servo malfunction that made them move at night. A glitch in the system... But no glitch in the system makes them smart. No glitch in the system makes them want to kill."

Chris and Daniel exchanged glances.

"They... Tried to kill you?" Chris asked.

"Yep..." Scott nodded. "Vincent and I were the best in the business. Keeping the animatronics at bay, never missing a beat. We'd never had our power level drop below 5%. They called us the 'Vinscott Team'," he chuckled mirthlessly. "But anyway, for the first night in ever, we weren't doing too well...

Suddenly he turned to me, "Scott..."

He'd seemed really distracted that night, and I was wondering what was wrong. "What's up, Vin?"

"I have to tell you something."

I wasn't sure what he wanted, but I was more concerned about, y'know, living. So I just frowned, "Um, sure, but, can we focus on surviving the night shift, first? Could you check the power level for me?"

He looked down at the tablet and the expression on his face told me everything. We were going to die. I tried to stay positive. "Don't worry about it, we'll be fine. It can't be that long til 6. So, um, let's just concentrate on getting through the night, okay?" And I had to ask. I had to know exactly how long I had. "How's the power?"

"Um," he hesitated, and for a second I was really worried, but he smiled that smile I loved so much. "It's going to be fine. We've got heaps. Not that long until 6, either."

I realise now he was lying. Trying to make me feel better... But back then I was just so relieved. I kept talking about the power, how I was glad I was safe, and suddenly he interrupted my words.

"Scott," he said, "Turn around."

I was so confused, but his voice was deep and almost threatening, so I did as he asked. "Now what?"

"In a second," Vincent said, "I'm going to open the door. The passage is clear. I want you to run towards the exit, okay? And promise me you won't stop until you get outside. Okay?"

I didn't get what was going on. I was worried about him... But he lied again. "Don't worry," he said, "I'm going to be right behind you."

So he opened the door, and I ran out, and I turned around to wait for him.. "Come on, let's go!"

And he just..." Scott's voice broke and he cleared his throat, "He just smiled. And suddenly I saw the animatronic behind him. Bonnie. It had his shoulder in its hand and he was bleeding badly from the wounds it had given him while he was talking to me... He... He must have kept in the screams of pain so I wouldn't be scared..." he closed his eyes.

""Don't stop running until you reach the exit," he whispered, and looked up at me one last time as he closed the door to stop me from trying to save him..."

Leaving out what Vincent's final words had been, Scott opened his eyes looked up at the two men in front of him. "And so I ran. And I never stopped running."

Chris and Dan's eyes were bulging out of their heads.

"He... He gave his life for you...?"

"That's so deep. Why don't you tell people this, Scott?"

"It's not just an around-the-dinner-table story, Daniel!" Scott snapped, and then relented. "Sorry. It's... been a long time since I've relived that day. You have to remember, this isn't some fiction story. It's real life, Dan. And Vincent died that night, for me. It wasn't fair. He deserved to live."

"He certainly didn't think so," Chris said.

"Huh?" Scott asked, confused.

"Think about it. He could have easily pushed you in the way of that... B-Bob?"

"Bonnie," Dan corrected.

"Yeah, that. But he didn't. He could have escaped himself, and left you to die. But he didn't."

Scott was silent for a long time. "I guess you're right..."

"Well," Chris said, "You didn't murder Vincent. Or at least you have a very convincing cover-up story. But what about the children?"

Scott shrugged. "I know nothing about it. Nobody does, or if they do, they didn't tell me. Vincent always seemed to know more than he let on, but he never said anything if he did. Y'know, they suspected Vincent for quite some time... I guess it was because he was so indifferent to it happening. But the tapes were gone, they couldn't find a motive, and they had no evidence that the children had died at all - you know, no bodies, no blood, no weapon - so they dropped the case."

Chris and Dan nodded.

"Okay," Chris said. "I believe you."

"Me too," Dan said.

"So, you're not going to call the police?" Scott asked.

Chris and Dan exchanged glances again, and then simultaneously shook their heads.

Scott sighed. "Thank goodness."
