Prologue

A foggy haze grew heavy in a vast starry expanse. It was rather strange and peculiar. It was rare for the usually sunny and bright realm of StarClan to dim in such a way. A fiery ginger tom began to pace back and forth in an anxious pattern, clearly waiting for someone to appear. It was the first time in moons since he had to speak to anyone. After all, he was recently appointed as a co-leader of StarClan after the original leaders dissipated into nothingness—being long forgotten by the Clans.
It was a miracle their spirits had lived for as long as they did. They had been forgotten by the Clans for far longer than they should have existed. Meanwhile, the ginger tom's story was constantly regurgitated in a constant overexaggerated fashion. He was basically worshipped, and he despised that with a passion. However, he was too kind and soft-spoken to ever admit it to anyone.
Another ginger tom appeared as a faint outline to his eyes. There were some other cats closely behind the other tom as he could hear the faint pawsteps of crushing twigs and shifting dirt. Their pelts seemed faint, and only the other ginger tom was shining bright.
As they approached closer, the ginger tom could make them all out. The other ginger tom was the leader after Graystar, or Graystripe, named Lionstar. The other cats were Bluestar, Runningwind, Redtail, and Tallstar.
The ginger tom stared at them all before finally speaking once they were directly in front of him with a growl. "I've been waiting for you all."
Lionstar was unfazed by the ginger tom's annoyance and merely replied back. "Good to see you again too, Firestar. Maybe next time don't show up ten minutes early?"
Firestar made a low grunt before moving his eyes to Bluestar. "How have you been doing?"
Bluestar slowly moved her very faint head towards the others before meowing. "I'm alright. Just concerned about how many of us are starting to disappear. Especially with Thunderstar, Shadowstar, Riverstar, Windstar, Gray Wing, and Skystar gone into some abyss."
Firestar nodded in understanding. "Our expiration dates did start to catch up with us all once we were forgotten ever since their spirits disappeared. Perhaps their spirits are what kept StarClan from disappearing as quickly whenever doubt was clouded on us."
Tallstar cocked his head to the side. "Do you think it could explain all this haze in the air?"
Runningwind and Redtail both looked at each other with uncertainty, and no one answer Tallstar's question. Nobody knew what the haze was caused by.
Lionstar cleared his throat, and meowed to Tallstar with a tone that gave away his doubt on his own theory. "Perhaps it is...more inclined to some happening that occurred recently?"
Bluestar shook her head at the dark ginger tom. "No, I highly doubt that. Leafpool and Jayfeather just had a talk with the current ThunderClan medicine cat."
Redtail nodded his head as he confirmed Bluestar's statement. "I can attest that the two did speak to Violetheart. I can also confirm that Lionblaze and Pinestar spoke to Wildstar just before we left to discuss with Firestar about all of this."
Firestar flickered his eyes around the ThunderClan warriors, and the WindClan leader, as their eyes gleamed with a harsh uncertainty of events. Lionstar dug his claws deep into the ground as he growled to himself.
"This is quite the bloody mess we got ourselves in..."
They all looked at Lionstar, but said nothing against it. Firestar could tell hope was already draining from them. Something happened, something very bad, and it was affecting StarClan heavily somehow.
Firestar looked up at the starry sky of StarClan, as he finally sat down, and all he could see was just that. Nothing different was in the sky. Everything except the haze was normal. So what brought the haze?
He could feel a prod on his side as he saw Lionstar's concerned face. Firestar was confused for a second until Lionstar spoke.
"F-Firestar...I just received some kind of prophecy..." Firestar looked at the others when Lionstar finished, and they were staring at Lionstar in fear at what he was possibly told.
Firestar calmly replied, but he noted to himself that he was speaking from his own silent curiosity at what Lionstar had to say. "Please, Lionstar, tell us what it is you received."
Lionstar flickered his eyes to and from everyone. His concern seemed immeasurable. Almost like something was terrifying him. "I-...When the thorn withers, a new divided age will come where hope and peace will be severed. Without hope and peace, a looming darkness over the code will destroy everything we fought for."

A terrible prophecy, yes, but has a nice beginning to it.
