The sound of silence flows across the room, two hedgehogs were bored to death and we're really quiet, not making a sound that would alert the other. This was very unlikely for Sonic, it confused Amy why he wasn't so active like he naturally is.

Sonic, as well, was confused by Amy's silence, since he was expecting a big hug from her right in this moment. But he should've been less surprised by this, after all, it had been a year when the Eggman Empire almost conquered the whole world and Amy has matured quite a lot.

The door swung open revealing a young fox with beautiful gold fur and twin tails, holding a clipboard and a pen on the side of his ear. Sonic leaned his head upwards from the couch. "Is it good to go? "

Tails wanted to chuckle, knowing how bored Sonic and Amy may have been while he was away, "Yup! You and Amy can start checking the place out. " He said, happily spinning his pen on his hand after taking it off the side of his ear.

"Finally!" Sonic jumped off the couch and stretched his arms and legs. "I've been dying to get off that couch."

Amy giggled from Sonic's exaggerating comment, finding it hilarious. She stood up from her seat and walked up to Tails. "Let's see your new lab, Tails! "

"And here we are! " Tails said with delight, stopping with Sonic already ahead of him, carrying Amy in his arms, making Amy blush softly.

Sonic beamed as his eyes sparkled from the wonderful sight, Tails' new lab was indeed fantastic and was a beauty to behold, to Tails' perspective. The blue hedgehog then felt someone tapping his shoulder and heard them clear their throat,

"Ahem, can you put me down now? " Asked Amy, who was feeling a bit uneasy with Sonic still carrying her.

He realized this and chuckles nervously, "Heh, my bad. " He replied as he sets Amy down, smiling awkwardly while Amy gave him an amused face.

Tails sees this and rolls his eyes, but smiling at the two, he soon entered the lab and got Sonic and Amy to follow him. Sonic was glad to be put out of that awkward situation, but Amy found it awkwardly funny.

As he was introducing and showing Sonic and Amy around the lab, the communicator on his right wrist beeped, "Oh! Hey guys, I'll be outside I gotta take this, think you two be okay here? " He asked.

Sonic gave Tails a thumbs up and Amy simply nodded, so the fox went outside, leaving the two hedgehogs inside the lab. As soon as he heard the front door shut, the blue hedgehog smirked and started running around the lab, catching Amy off guard, feeling wind flowing on her dress.

She turned around and glared at Sonic's mess, "Sonic, stop running, you're making a big mess! " Amy yelled, as papers flew around the room and some landed on Amy's head.

The speedster scoffed, "Don't worry Ames! I made the mess, I can clean it up in not time....?" He stopped at his tracks, finding the control room. Computers, inventions and anything Sonic can think of.

He grinned and ran inside, followed by Amy with her fists tight and her expression full of rage, the two are now inside a room that they are unfamiliar with.

Sonic jumps up on top of the monitor, feeling proud of himself for a moment until Amy stomped towards him, "Sonic, get down from there right now! " The pink hedgehog yelled once more with both her hand and the side of her mouth.

But Sonic, of course, refused, "I've got this, I'll be fi-" Sonic lost his step and fell from the monitor and landed on the control panel. Amy gasped a little and facepalmed.

"Good Gaia." She groaned in her head and walked up to Sonic.

Sonic was about to get off the the control panel but accidentally pressed a button with his knee in the process, sending off an alarm, alerting Tails from the outside who had just finished his call.

"Uh, what's going on? " Amy asked in slight panic, coming closer to Sonic, who was just as confused as her.

"Initiating Laboratory Lockdown"

"Lockdown?! "

The pathways are now shut, sealed off with an iron wall and windows have been replaced by steel, the lab is now in full lock down mode. Sonic gasped and scratched his head. "What the??? What is this? "

Suddenly, the monitor activated itself, startling both Sonic and Amy, but calmed down as soon as they saw Tails on the screen, "Hey you guys okay??" He asks, worried about what had just happened from the inside.

"Yup were okay Tails." Amy replied, still wearing a scowl, clearly angry at Sonic for being a dunderhead.

"Well, I see you guys are in the control room... " The young fox gave the two a blank expression, knowing where the two are.

Amy sighed while Sonic, chuckled mischievously, receiving a glare from Amy. Tails groaned. "Seeing Amy's expression, I'm guessing Sonic pressed the lockdown button."

"You don't say? " Amy spoke, sarcasm forming those words while also glaring at Sonic. Sonic merely just shrugged with a smug grin, making Amy more annoyed.

"Don't worry you guys, I'll try hacking inside my lab's security and turn off lockdown, although it's gonna take a while. " Tails said, rubbing the back of his head nervously, he was unsure if he can actually do that.

"Can I just use the good ol' spin dash and bust me and Ames out of here? " Sonic suggested, but Tails shook his head,

"Sorry, I kinda made sure that the walls of the lab... Speedster-proof? "

Sonic was stumped hearing those words. "Wait wait, hold up. You saying I can't get me and Amy out of here? "

"Uh, pretty much... " Tails answered with an anxious smile.

"Noooooo!!!! "

Amy rolled her eyes and scoffs, "Pipe down Sonic, Tails said he can get us out of here, so all we have to do is wait. " She assured Sonic with her arms crossed.

"Noooooo!!!! "

"So you called me and Rouge here to let us know those two hedgehogs are stuck in your new lab? " He asked with a bit of amusement in his tone, which Tails gets a lot considering Shadow is Sonic's rival.

Rouge chuckled after what her partner said and soon came back after what Tails had told her. "Okay Tails, I'll help you on this. Meanwhile, Shadow's gotta find a way out for those two in case this one doesn't work out. "

"Seeing as to how my laptop's signal wasn't able to stay online in the computers, I'm guessing the online dampeners work like a charm!" Tails cheered about the installments in his lab and went straight back to work with Rouge and Shadow helping him.

Meanwhile, Amy was laying down on the couch on her back, with her left arm dangling down and her finger touching the floor, bored... Just like Sonic who was groaning for the past 20 minuets.

She watched Sonic pace around the room, wanting to run around freely and just be done with all this. It annoyed her, but truly, inside she liked it with Sonic being stuck in the control room with her.

Even though she had matured, she still gained a crush on Sonic, it ached her heart knowing he may not feel the same way. But she knew their relationship is just friends and allies, and nothing more.

She got out of her position and sat on the couch this time, with her watching Sonic still pacing across the room, "You gonna stop? " She asks, hoping he'd just answer with a yes but knew he was gonna say...

"No! This is killing me Ames, I.. Gotta... Run!!! " He exasperated and was about to run around, luckily Amy stood up and clutched Sonic's shoulder, holding him back from doing something stupid.

Sonic turned his head so he can look at Amy, the pink hedgehog stared at him and shook her head slowly, Sonic let out a sigh and sat down on the couch.

Amy gave him a sincere face, she understood he doesn't like being stuck in one place. She sat down next to him, "You know Tails will get us out of here soon, right? " She asked Sonic, wanting to give him hope.

The blue blur was surprised to hear her talking to him, he knew by what she had asked him that she was trying to assure him, it warmed him to know that Amy was still caring towards him. "Yeah, I know, "

He turned to face the computers, he didn't want to look at Amy, but inside, he somewhat wants to, "Maybe I should've listened to you, I acted like a kid. " He continued talking, Amy's eyes grew wide, he's actually talking about his thoughts.

Wanting to keep him talking, she needed to keep responding, "He he, no kidding... " but she had no idea what to talk about, until an idea came to mind, a stupid one.

But before she can even talk, Sonic continued to speak. "Hey... Amy..?"

"Um, yes?"

"You know... I didn't mean leaving you in those dates you always ask me to go, right? " He asked of her, Amy was shocked to hear Sonic talk about that, it made her blush knowing she was very open about her crush on Sonic back then, but now she knows Sonic was oblivious to this.

She sighed. "That was the past Sonic, I left that since... Eggman almost took over the world. "

"And when we defeated him! I wish I've seen the look on his face. " Sonic cheered, Amy was surprised by the sudden turn of events but smiled,

"He he! Yeah. I haven't seen Eggman since... You think that's gonna be a problem? " She asked, starting to get serious with her replies.

Sonic wondered about the possibility, "Huh, maybe, " He said, "But I wouldn't hold on to that much, it has been a few months anyway..." Sonic stopped, his mind was wandering elsewhere.

He didn't know what he was thinking, but he now knew, something's different, "Speaking of it being a few months... How have you been? " The blue hedgehog asked, Amy gasped a little, is he asking about her?

Never in a million years would Sonic do that, he's all about freedom, but inside he has many thoughts inside of him everyday that he considers that it's holding him back.

But now, is he actually confronting them?," Well... I've been fine.. Me and Knuckles are still in the Resistance, still cleaning up a lot of badniks off the streets." She replied, trying to be careful with her answer.

"Oh... Soooo.." Sonic started to get nervous, he stood up in a panic and started to talk nonsensically while speeding around the room.

Amy took this negatively and had enough of Sonic running from his problems, she stood up, "Okay, that's enough! " Sonic stopped speed walking and looked at Amy with wide eyes.

"Look Sonic, I don't understand you! First you're starting to talk, and then the next minute you just run away again. You can't just run away from your problems like that, or else they're just gonna get bigger and harder to deal with... I just.. " Tears began forming in her eyes, Sonic doesn't like seeing Amy cry, he ran up to her and held her by him,

"I just want you to talk... " She spoke, her voice sounded tired and full of sadness, now she definitely wanted to get out of the lab.

Sonic sighed, looking at Amy with all the sincerity he's got, but his view of her changed. He knew what he had to do, he has been trying to run away from the truth but now, words can't fix his problem.

He leaned closer, catching Amy's attention, she looked at him with a confused look, it caught her off guard but Sonic kept his stand right and his hands slowly making its way to Amy's face, cupping it gently as Sonic didn't want to startle Amy.

But she was very shocked, she didn't know what to do, until she followed his lead and and leaned closer towards him. She was shaking inside, she didn't wanna believe it but...

There, their lips smashed together and they started out with a slow and steady kiss. Sonic felt like he was about to run, but not because of problems but because of his new-found feelings towards his female companion.

He had never done anything like this before, but he did it, he actually kissed Amy Rose.

Then suddenly, the whole lab lockdown was finally shut off. Tails, Rouge and Shadow walked in to see Sonic and Amy sitting on the couch, blushing with them looking at the opposite direction.

Shadow smirked while Rouge giggled, "And what were you two doing while you're both stuck in here? " She asked with a smirk.

Sonic looked at Amy, and smiled,
