The morning broke and rushed through the window with new strength. When Cal rolled over, he hit a body. When he opened his eyes, he was surprised to find Violet lying next to him still soundly asleep. Her back faced him, but he could see her shoulders rising and falling slightly with every breath.
She looked so simple, so at ease.
She'd stayed. By now, she was normally gone and he would wake up with nothing but a lipstick stain and a memory of the night before, but here she was lying next to him like they were more than just friends.
Not being able to help himself, Cal wrapped an arm over her waist and held her into him, but the movement woke her up. With a grumble, she turned over and pressed her face into his chest.
"It's too early," She moaned, folding her arms around Cal.
He lifted his head from the pillow to see the time. "It's almost eleven, we should get up."
She sighed and sat up slowly, opening her eyes and looking down at Cal like she'd been caught in headlights. "Fuck," She breathed and ran a hand through her mess of dark hair; a mixture of bed hair and sex hair.
Holding the sheet to her naked body, Violet reaches for her bra and fastened it around herself. As she looped the straps over her shoulders, Cal reaches for her wrist. His fingers curl, making her look at him.
She leaned forward slightly as his fingers move to her chin, his thumb brushed her bottom lip. Violet pecked his hand before slipping out of the bed to dress herself.
"You stayed," Cal finally said as Violet pulls her shirt down.
She bit her lip as she faced away from him. "How could I not? I haven't seen you in a month. I'm not going to sleep with you then leave straight away, but same time tomorrow yeah?" She glanced over her shoulder, winking at him with the mask of flirtation in her eyes.
By the time he replied, she was dressed and perched on the end of his bed. "You're leaving?"
"I have a vlog I need to edit."
"Edit it here," He tried and it seemed to work because she sighed and her shoulders slumped slightly.
"Fine." She crawled forward, placing a kiss on his cheek. "I'll be back in an hour because I want a shower. You better make me breakfast, Calfreezy," She told him, using his channel name because she knew he hated it when she did that.
"You know I can't cook."
"You'll work something out."

She came back exactly an hour later with her laptop under one arm and her bag slung over the other. Violet pushed past him, dumped her stuff on the sofa and turned around. "Did you make me breakfast?" She'd asked and minutes later they were sat eating bacon sandwiches in silence, just enjoying the taste.
"I know you said you couldn't cook, but this is pretty good," She said, but her voice was muffled by the food in her mouth. She laughed at the sound of her own voice, slumping back into the sofa with laughter overcoming her.
There was something amazing about seeing her laugh like that.
"Even my shit cooking tastes good when you're starving," Cal responded without a mouthful of food and a grin on his face that Violet loved to see.
When her plate was empty, Violet leant into Cal's side. "That was the best sandwich I've ever eaten," She declared, resting her head on his shoulder, just about. "I wish I'd savored it."
"Alright, Violet, it wasn't that great," He laughed, nudging her slightly before deciding to push it. "You're just complimenting me so I'll kiss you again."
"If I wanted to kiss you, I would," Violet told him, standing up and taking her plate to the sink. "Besides, why do you even need an excuse? You didn't seem to need one last night." She doesn't look at him as she spoke, she just smirks down at the plate she was washing.
"That's not fair, I hadn't seen you in a month."
"It was a last minute plan," She explained, drying off her hands before Violet walked back to the sofa and settled down beside him with a huff. She tucked her hair behind her ear. "She was supposed to go with someone else, but they bailed on her. So she asked me to go."
"I just wish I'd known so we could have spent time together before you left." He placed his plate on the table before sitting back beside Violet, who does not reply. She'd pulled her laptop onto her thighs and was busy editing, blocking him out and pretending as if he didn't even exist.
He sat beside her, scrolling through his notifications.
When Violet's fingers curled around his hand he looks to her. She smiled and said, "I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologise." But her cheeks were flushed and the way she chewed her lips told him that she wasn't apologising for leaving, it was something more than that. It was like she knew everything he was thinking, and that prospect was utterly terrifying.
