09 | FLAWED WITH BENEFITS

flawed with benefits

Two more weeks went by and in that time Violet had only been in contact four times, despite admitting she missed him and honestly it was confusing.

After the first time she called since going away, Cal had gone back in to finish his date with Elora and the rest of it had gone surprisingly well. The awkwardness had subsided and she actually seemed to have a lot more to say.

They'd arranged to meet again the following week and, again, it had gone well. She'd even kissed him, which he did not expect. She'd stayed the night after that date. Nothing happened, but it felt weird lying next to her. That day they'd gone out shopping together, beginning to warm up to one another even more. He held her hand as they browsed through the shops, laughing and joking the entire time.

When he'd said goodbye to her, she gave him a smile and kissed him on the cheek.

The week after that, there were very little texts or calls exchanged and he didn't know why. Instead of asking, he left her to herself and went on recording and uploading his videos until he became exhausted and collapsed on the sofa, curled under a blanket, to watch TV.

When the door creaked open, he didn't move. It was only when the figure of Violet stepped in between him and the screen that he propped himself up on his elbow, shocked to see her before him.

"You should lock your door, Cal," She said, grinning at him with her incredible smile.

He laughed in disbelief. "Hi, Violet," He replied, rolling his eyes at her.

She eyed him, her smile pressing together and her expression dazzling. "Room for one more?" She asked and gestured to the sofa.

"Of course," He responded without question and lifted the blanket up for her to slip in. She sighed as if she'd expected him to say no before climbing beneath the blanket, resting her head on the pillow. As if by instinct, his arm rested across her waist. "How was Spain?" He questioned softly, not wanting to be loud as his mouth was close to her ear.

She turned around to face him. From the glow of the TV in the dark room, he could see her face and all her features he'd missed. Her hand reached out, holding his face as if she'd had the same thought.

"Spain was good. It was warm, which is nice. Lots of beach parties and pool parties and drinking, but I only had an awful hang over twice in four weeks, which is good. Although, all the parties were filled with guys who were just out to get laid. Not really my type." He sees her smile worm across her mouth as she speaks. Her breath tickled him as she spoke. "How about you? What've you been up to whilst I was gone?"

In that moment he didn't want to tell her, but he knew she would be able to tell if he lied. "I did the usual youtube stuff," He said, his eyes flick away from her enchanting stare. Her thumb smoothed across his face, making him look at her again involuntarily. You could get lost in her eyes. "I hung out with the guys and saw Elora a few times."

"A few times? So you're dating now?" Violet pulled her hand off his cheek, choosing to rest it on his chest in a less intimate manner.

"No, I haven't seen her or spoken to her really in a week," He admitted. "I don't know what we are, but we're not dating."

"So you're off limits then?" She asked with a smirk and the raise of an eyebrow.

"I don't think so," He replied with confusion and a frown.

She laughed. She had always liked winding him up and seeing how far she could take it. "So you wouldn't mind if I-" She kissed his neck softly, just below his ear. As soon as her lips touch him, his lungs electrify and his grip around her waist tightens slightly.

"Or if I-" Violet kissed his lips with a soft passion that wasn't anything like they had before. It was delicate, slow and most definitely not casual. He kissed her back without a second thought, pressing his mouth harder against hers.

She pulled herself back, her mouth brushing against his. "Be gentle," She breathed, the air tickling his lips in the moments before her mouth was on his again. She pushed him down and hooked a leg over him, sitting on him as she kissed along his jaw to his ear. "I missed you," She whispered, her lips hovering over his ear.

"I missed you too," Cal replied quietly in between heavy breaths. No one made his heart race like Violet. His hands grappled at her shirt, pulling it over her head and inhaling sharply as her body was revealed to him once more. He looked on with hungry eyes, but there was little time to breath as her lips were on him again as if she were dying and he was the cure.

But when the lights flicked on, she sat up with a fright and looked to the door. Cal looked to, sitting up with his hands still on her waist.

"For fuck's sake guys," Harry groaned, averting his eyes from Violet. "On the sofa, really? And I thought you were just friends now?"

"We are friends," Violet replied, not bothering to cover up. "But it's complicated."

"Whatever, I'm going to bed," Harry grumbled, leaving the room.

"Complicated?" Cal asked with clear confusion in his eyes.

"Cal, it's obviously complicated because we're not just friends, are we? Even though we called it off, we're still friends with benefits."

"I'm okay with that," He murmured, his lips meeting the skin of her neck once more, but as he laid her back on the sofa and kissed down her chest, he realised that he was in fact not okay with just that.
