THIRTY SEVEN: Agenda
She's good...
...A good girl...
...Protect the good girl...
...Kill anyone who looks at good girl...
I played sprawled out beside Eri as she dozed; her hand stroking my chest, and stared at the door with dark (E/C) eyes. I had no idea how long it had been since I had been made to stand guard, but every time someone came inside with a meal, or for any other reason, I would snap more than the last.
Staying in the form of a wolverine was the worst possible move for my own psyche, but my life was on the line. There were cameras in every corner of the room, and if Overhaul was to know I deactivated my quirk, he'd kill me dead. After so much time, that honestly wasn't even on my mind anymore. Toga and Twice were a hazy blur in the back of my head, as was Dabi, and the rest of my life outside. All I could focus on was that door, and how agitated I felt when I saw so much as a shadow through the crack.
Gotta keep her safe...Rip apart anyone who goes near her...especially the masked men...
When I heard the click of a lock, I leapt up onto my feet over Eri, who startled awake and followed my gaze. It was a new scent this time, but I treated it no differently than the last few. The man who entered wore no mask, but his thin eyes and pointed tendrils made me want to kill him anyway.
"We need to go, Eri. Immediately. Come with me." He seemed unphased by my bared teeth and risen hackles, which just made my blood reach boiling point.
"I..I don't wanna...I don't wanna go, Mr. Kurono..." The little girl whispered, trying to make herself even smaller beneath me.
Back off! Get out of here! You smell like them!
The man she referred to as Kurono sighed and took a step forward, reaching his hand out.
"We don't have time for you to be difficult, girl. Kai needs you to come, so be a good child and-" The second his hand was within range, I lashed out, barely missing his wrist with my claws.
DON'T TOUCH MY GIRL!
I was barely there anymore. Something, way down deep in the pits of my mind, I knew this had something to do with the planned hero assault, but that didn't matter to me anymore. Kurono stared at me without a single shred of emotion for a few moments.
"Eri, this is important. Tell your...thing...to let me take you...Unless you want me to kill it." He turned his sharp glare to the girl; my girl, and she gulped loudly. I tried to remain above her as she squirmed out from beneath me, but it wasn't much use.
"N..Nozomi...It..It's okay...Don't eat Mr. Kurono...He'd hurt your tummy..."
You stink of fear! I won't let you go with him! I'll kill him first!
I certainly didn't have much of a plan when I leapt at the stoic villain. I just knew I wanted to tear him limb from limb, and to bite down on his throat until he rattled out his final breath. Of course, I didn't even think twice about what his quirk might be, but when one of those arrow-like tendrils shot out, it was too late to try and rethink my attack.
I hit the far wall with a loud, guttural grunt, crashing down onto the nightstand, then the floor.
"Nozomi!" I heard Eri cry out, and I was already climbing to my feet. The only problem was that my body felt heavy. Incredibly heavy, and each step I took was half the speed they should have been. When I saw his hands against her shoulders, and the way she meekly obeyed him as he pushed her through the doorway, I lost any sense of humanity I had been clinging to.
I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU..!
(I have art block and this is a wreck. Enjoy a pinhead Kurono with noodle limbs, derpy Eri without bandages and my attempt at a wolverine)
His hair vector shot out at me again, but this time it smashed me straight into the ground. I couldn't even move my legs at all now, but I continued to snarl and snap up at the man who was spiriting my girl away.
"You're lucky Kai told me not to actually kill you..." He muttered, narrowing his eyes over his shoulder as he pushed her out of my sight. "You'll be out of commission for about ten minutes or so...When you regain your ability to move...either leave, or go assist the expendables in dealing with the pro hero scum..."
GIVE HER BACK TO ME, YOU FUCKING BASTARD, I'LL-
I stopped dead when I remembered exactly what was going on. I wasn't completely in control, but my mind was certainly trying to stick it to the carnal, predatory instincts that had taken over. It was then that I just laid there, waiting for the time to pass so I could switch to something less dangerous, and get the hell out of there to find my comrades.
Toga...Twice...I hope you two are okay...I hope that bastard didn't hurt you...if he did...if he did I'll...fucking kill him..!
Squeezing my eyes shut, I let out a long whimper, feeling sick to my stomach that I was thinking such vile, bloodthirsty thoughts. I wanted to slink back to Dabi and beg for his forgiveness. I wanted to rewind time and rethink every choice I had made over the last few weeks.
No...This is my bed...and I have to lay in it..! If I'm supposed to help take down this fu...messed up organisation, then I will! For Eri...and for big sis Magne!
I heard a bang from somewhere above, and I realised I had to act fast. No doubt that was the beginning of an all out assault of heroes, and I needed to stay out of sight. Amajiki was up there. Kirishima was up there. Fatgum was up there. Almost every link to my vitality was up there, and I couldn't let them know what I had done to myself.
After several more minutes, I found I was able to sufficiently move again, so I racked my clouded brain. I had to choose something small, yet efficient enough to move about stealthily and be able to protect myself. There wasn't much to choose from out of what I had to work with, so I just went with the closest match.
(A motherfucking stoat, y'all)
I made myself as small as I could, and slipped out into the hallway, keeping close to the skirting boards. I just wanted to be human again. After this, I never wanted to even consider using my quirk again, for as long as I lived. If it were a possibility, I'd just run away to heaven knows where with Dabi; my Touya, and live out our lives in peace.
Hah...how would that even happen when he won't even look at me now..?
The sounds of rushing footsteps startled me, and I flattened myself against the wall as much as I could. I was lucky I matched the colour of the wooden skirting, but terror still ran rampant through my body. Around the corner came so many pairs of boots and shoes, and I was too scared to look up past those ankles; all familiar in colours and shapes.
"My discoveries led me to believe that there are many secret tunnels and passageways hidden around these headquarters. Keep your eyes peeled for any possible entrances." Sir Nighteye's voice sent a shudder down my spine, and I silently waited for them to continue on.
"Stay on guard...We don't know who could be lurking around, ready to attack." Aizawa spoke next, and I prayed that was their signal to leave the hallway.
I couldn't shake a terrible feeling as that sea of feet started off again, but then the world came to a standstill when I noticed that there was one pair that didn't budge. Bare feet, with black, stirruped tights.
No...
Upwards, a flow of ivory material set my fears in stone.
No no no no...
Upwards, to that familiar face, with wide, indigo eyes and pointed, elven ears.
"(Y..Y/N)..?"
