FIFTY ONE: Limpet
For the first time since I had completed my job, I felt somewhat at ease.
After arriving back to my place we had all made ourselves comfortable on my bed, blankets thrown over ourselves with some odd movie about a wannabe cowboy chameleon, per Mustard's request. I felt safe and warm between two of my favourite people. There was only one problem.
Dabi was making it extremely difficult to concentrate on anything but him.
After hearing the way he spoke to Hawks, despite my adoration of the winged hero, my entire body had been hyper aware. Every brush of his arm, or bump of his knee had me almost vibrating in want. That little fact hadn't gone unnoticed.
"I think the metaphor broke my spleen." The TV droned, and Mustard snorted loudly, having to cover his mouth so the half-chewed ChitChat bar inside didn't fly out.
"Pffft, he sounds like Twice!" I didn't pay any attention to the boy, like I usually did. I mean, I knew he was there, but my mind was focused on something else. That something just so happened to be Dabi's fingers tracing the skin of my lower thigh beneath the blankets.
Why do I want him to touch me so bad?
Not really thinking, I seized his wrist, moving it just a little bit higher, towards the hem of my pyjama shorts that I had changed back into. Dabi didn't seem to react, just continuing to gently glide his fingers across my skin. An innocent action to all but me. Again, I directed him further up, but this time he pulled his arm out from the blanket, opting to lay it across my shoulders instead.
He leant in towards me, the tips of his charcoal hair tickling my brow in the best way.
"Don't think I'm gonna be that good to you after you stalked me today." He whispered, chuckling under his breath when he felt me slump beneath his arm.
"Well if it was such a bad thing, why don't you punish me..?"
Something tells me that wasn't a very me thing to say...But it feels right...
Dabi seemed rather surprised by my response as well, but that quickly turned into amusement as he drew me in closer to his side.
"Oh, I'll be punishing you...just not yet. You can suffer for a while, babe." His teasing tone sent a shiver down my spine, which didn't help one bit. Whatever was going on with my body was almost impossible to control, but I wasn't exactly trying too hard.
"How about you just give me what I want right now? Or do I have to cause more trouble..?" My hand found his inner thigh beneath the (F/C) throw, and I could feel his pulse quicken. It was driving me crazy. Dabi used the hand that hung off the opposite side of my body to grip my chin, tilting my face up so we were staring into each other's eyes. There was something off about his gaze that I chose to ignore, something uncertain. I didn't really care anyway, especially not when he began to close the distance between our lips.
"You better watch yourself, Tenderfoot...Don't think I won't destroy that desperate little pu-OOF!" We both yelped as a pillow flew past me, connecting with Dabi's face and sending him toppling off the edge of the bed, followed by a pelting of assorted confectionary.
"TWENTY FUCKING CENTIMETRE RULE, YOU KENTUCKY FRIED CUNT!"
Arms wrapped around my neck from behind, and I was pulled back into a smaller chest, which thudded loudly. Dabi flung his top half back over the bed, a vicious snarl crinkling his marred jaw.
"Why the fuck are you even in here, gastro brat?! You hang around her like a bad smell!" His body was beginning to emit trace amounts of smoke, but Mustard didn't let me go. He just hugged me tighter.
"I'm here because I'm worried about her, Touya! She could have died, and all you seem to care about is getting all inappropriate with her!" He tossed, and it was the first time I had heard that much venom in his voice. Completely over my urge to be ravaged by my villainous boyfriend, I leaned back into my dear friend, placing my hands on his arms.
"I was the one who started getting touchy first, Hiso...Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." I apologised sincerely, feeling horrible about forgetting his presence.
The brunet shook his head, finally letting me go, but he remained close, still killing Dabi over and over again with his sharp glaring.
"That's not the point...He should know better..."
What does he mean by that?
I looked between the two of them in complete confusion, realising by their hostile expressions that I was completely out of the loop when it came to whatever was going on.
"Can you...give us a few minutes?" I asked the younger boy, shifting to sit cross legged upon the mattress. "No funny business. I just want to talk to him about something." Mustard didn't seem to like that idea, but he complied, hesitantly climbing off the bed and heading towards the door.
"I'll be downstairs raiding your stash, then..."
"If you're about to ask to adopt him I will actually neck myself..." Dabi scowled as he stood from the floor, brushing dog hair and crumbs from his white shirt.
"What did he mean by he should know better..?" I asked quietly, a frown curving my lips. The ravonet didn't answer immediately, but when he did, he was already climbing back onto the bed to join me.
"He's probably just jealous. I'd bet my good skin he's got some school boy crush on you with the way he always has his head up your ass."
That's not it and you know it...
I allowed Dabi to wrap his slender arms around me, and I felt at home being pulled against his chest, though I was kind of relieved when I didn't feel that hot fluster flare up again.
"He might just be trying to look out for me, seeing as you didn't stay..." I grumbled, immediately regretting my words, but he didn't seem as phased as I expected.
"I'm here now, aren't I?" He mumbled, repositioning my head so I wouldn't end up with marks on me cheeks thanks to his stapled chest. "Look, I'm not gonna say ditch him, but don't let him turn into a fucking limpet." Part of me understood what he was getting at, but the rest of me hated the idea of pushing Mustard away. I felt almost concerningly overprotective of the young teen, kind of like how I craved to serve Shigaraki, only more maternal.
"But limpets are cute..." I huffed, squirming out of Dabi's grip, shuffling back to the edge of the bed, where the sheets began to bunch up. "When can we go back, anyway? It isn't fair that you all get to train so much, and we're just sitting here, getting fat."
That's right...Tomura needs me...We can all get stronger for him...
Dabi reached out and poked me in the belly, eliciting a surprised squeak.
"Fluffy, not fat...Even so, you're staying put until you're fully recovered, Tenderfoot. This is no high school sparring session." He was right, of course, but that didn't make me any less frustrated. I felt fine, apart from the occasional, temporary loss of energy. Being left out just didn't seem fair.
"I bet I could take that Giganto guy down with a few strategically placed bites!" I announced surely as I stood up, crossing my arms across my chest. Dabi scoffed at such a claim.
"Bullshit. Mammals aren't venomous." He tried to sound smart, but he screwed himself over. He was debating with a specialist.
"Bulltrue! Mammals can be venemous! I just so happen to have come into contact with a Slow Loris! If I were to bite that big bully enough times I could possibly kill him, if I so desired!"
Dabi stilled, eyebrows knitting together as he stated at me. His entire demeanor changed, and I was clueless as to why.
"Would you so desire to kill..?" He asked almost cautiously, rising to kneel on my dipping mattress. I went to answer, but something inside of my head stopped me.
Wait...Did I just say I would kill..? Would I? If any of them were in danger...If Tomura was in danger...then...
"I-"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THIS HOUSE?!" A booming shout cut me off, coming from downstairs. It definitely hadn't belonged to Mustard, and something about the voice sounded awfully familiar. Panicked, my feet moved before anything else did, and I began to sprint out the door and down the hall towards the staircase, hearing Dabi close behind me.
"G...get off'a me..! Who the fuck..?!" Mustard's muffled yells only fueled my fear, and in the state that I was in, fear equalled aggression.
"Who are you and what have you done with (Y/N)?!" The strange voice barked, and I thought I caught a third person speak afterward, though it was much quieter.
"N..nothing! She's u..upstairs..!"
Skipping nearly the entire flight of steps, I tore around the corner, ready to activate my quirk and rip the intruders apart, especially if they had hurt Mustard. There he was, on the ground, a knee pressed hard into his back, but I didn't move to attack. The colours of red and black before me ceased all of my movements, but I still wasn't at all relieved.
"Tamaki..? Eijiro..?"
