Emma ~2
>Age 6<
I held my breath an crept to the bottom of the stairs, Crescent held tightly in my arms. As I passed my fathers room I heard deep snoring. I had maybe 10 minutes before he woke up.
I entered the kitchen and placed Crescent down at the door.
"Let me know if he comes." I whispered.
She nodded and hid under a small table with a vase on it, from there se could see into the kitchen at my fathers door easily.
I keeps into the kitchen and opened the fridge. I had to get up early now to feed myself and Crescent or we would starve since my father never or rarely fed us.
Scanning the fridge I pulled out a bag of Oran berries for Crescent and a tub of Peacha berry yogurt for me.
~Emma, hurry!~ Crescent whispered. ~He's coming!~
I grabbed my things and ran to hide under the sink. I held my breath as I peered threw the crack. I watched my father open the fridge and grab a beer.
I wrinkled my nose in disgust but was releived he didn't find anything missing. He left the kitchen and started walking upstairs.
I sighed with relief and exited the cupboard. I quickly grabbed a spoon from the draw and Crescent before racing into the backyard to eat.
Crescent and I hid on the hill at the back of the garden, Silver and mine's hiding spot.
I sighed sadly. It had been over a year since I'd last saw my brother and I didn't know what to think anymore.
Did he not like me anymore? Was he upset with me because I'd made our mummy go away? Was he hurt?
~Are you alright Emmy?~ Crescent asked.
I nodded and gave a small smile. "I'm fine." I handed her the Oran berries and started eating my yogurt.
~What about that?~ She asked pointing to a large gash across my leg that was covered in a thick bandage.
"It's fine." I lied.
It hurt a lot, as well as all my other injuries but I couldn't tell anyone. Daddy would hurt me if I did.
Crescent gave me a sad look. ~Everything will be fine, one day Emma.~ She snuggled in closer to me.
I finished my yogurt and sat it to the side. "But what if it doesn't." I sniffed.
Crescent sighed. She practically took care if me nowadays. She bandages my cuts and cares for me wherever it hurts.
I can't run away, I have no where to go and daddy said that he would find and hurt me if I did. I felt all alone apart from Crescent and Destiny who had gone on a trip to Kalos.
I pulled Crescent onto my lap and buried my head into her soft fur. She had a few cuts on her as well from times she had tried to protect me but both of us would just get hurt.
"EMMA! GET IN HERE NOW!" My father called.
My whole body stiffened for a moment but I got up anyway. If I didn't hurry then I'd just get in more trouble.
I ran inside holing Crescent in my arms, hiding the remains of our stolen meal in a bush.
When I got inside my father was giving me a look I'd quickly learn meant I was in trouble. He clutched an empty beer bottle in his hand and holding the fridge door open with the other. For a moment I'd thought he'd figured out about me stealing food but instead it was something much worse.
"Where's the rest of my drinks!" He shouted.
I flinched and took a small step back. Of course he'd probably drunken them all.
"I-I don't know daddy. I didn't touch them."
"Touros-crap!" He spat.
I clung to Crescent tighter. "I really don't know. I promise." My voice was so small even I could nearly hear it. But I could make out the fear it held.
My father slammed to fridge door shut with a slam and grabbed me by the collar of my shirt.
I whimpered and struggled from his grip while still trying to hold onto Crescent. "I swear I don't know daddy." I cried. "Please don't hurt me."
"Who gave you the right to tell me what to do! I'm your father and you will do as I say!" He snarled, yanking Crescent from my grip and throwing her at a wall.
"Daddy! Please!" I cried. My collar was pulling on my neck, making it difficult to breath and I had to try and pull myself up on my father arm because my feet were a long way from the ground.
"Worthless trash." He snarled.
He swung out his arm the was holding me and let go of my collar, slowing my to fly head first into the brick, kitchen wall.
.*.*.
The moon light filtered though the curtain when I opened my eyes. I looked around. Where was I again? It seem vaguely familiar... oh right this was my room.
~Emma?~ I looked up to see a Teddiersa looking at me worriedly.
I had to think for a moment. "Crescent?" It came out as a question because I was unsure if it was right. I only vaguely remember anything.
She nodded. ~You got a hard hit to the head. How do you feel?~
"I-I don't think I can remember... Anything."
