Child
Barry grinned at his boyfriend as he ran, wondering how he had gotten so lucky.
Oliver stared up at him, surprise and queasiness hitting him. He closed his mouth after realizing it was open and closed his eyes, hoping the nauseous feelings would go away.
Soon enough, however, they had reached their destination of Barry's apartment.
They had spent the day at the park, just giggling madly as they kissed and danced. It had been a talent show, and most acts had music for either the person to sing or dance too. Oliver and Barry had taken advantage.
"Stop doing that," Oliver said, trying to be intimidating but failing miserably. Barry chuckled as he leaned down to kiss his boyfriend, but the vigilante moved away. He fell out of Barry's arms, which caused Barry to laugh until he realized what Oliver had done. Then he frowned and glared at his boyfriend, who looked accomplished.
"No more kisses. That'll teach you to stop speeding me everywhere."
Barry muttered something under his breath.
"Speed-kiss me and I'll slap you," Oliver threatened. The island had taught him a lot, including the ability to have extremely good hearing.
Barry sighed. He speed-changed and looked over at his boyfriend, who was finally standing up.
"Meanie," Barry muttered.
"Yep, I'm an asshole," Oliver smirked. Barry groaned and facepalmed.
"That's what you get for being a child, Barry," Oliver told him sternly. Barry had never felt more like a child, which was slightly ironic.
"Shut up," Barry said coldly before heading into his room. The couple hadn't yet moved in together, so Barry still considered it his own.
...
Barry couldn't help but feel hurt as he walked. As a child, he had watched his mother get murdered, so he had never really had the chance to be a child. Maybe it was that, because of that fact, that he couldn't seem to mature.
Or maybe Ollie was just being mean. Barry didn't really care at the moment.
He sat on his bed slowly, just sitting there for a while. The time didn't pass as slowly as it usually did, or maybe Barry was just zoned out as he thought about his life.
He was sure there was something out to get him. No one had this kind of luck... Except for Hunter Zolomon, but he was from another earth so he didn't count.
"Barry? Can I come in?" Oliver asked, knocking on the open door as he stared at the speedster, his concern obvious.
"I'm fine," Barry lied, knowing it was pointless. Oliver could easily see through it.
That was proved when Oliver came in and sat with the younger man on the bed.
"Don't lie to me, Barry," the older man pleaded. Barry looked up from his shoes and looked his boyfriend in the eye, tears in his eyes.
"It...it kinds hits home," Barry started, taking a deep breath before continuing. "When you say those kinda things...about me being a child..."
Oliver sighed and rubbed the younger man's shoulders, kissing his head silently as a gesture to continue.
"I just never really had a childhood, you know? And I guess that kinda screwed up my adulthood."
Oliver nodded slowly and understandingly as the idea started to make sense.
"Barry," Oliver started gently but firmly, "you gotta tell me this stuff. How else am I supposed to change it otherwise?"
Barry nodded slowly. He understood Oliver's point. Maybe some part of him had hoped Oliver could read his mind...
"You're right," Barry whispered, moving to cuddle into his boyfriend. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"And I'm sorry I hurt you. Now, you want to watch a movie or something?"
Barry nodded slowly. "Yeah. Avengers?"
"No way in Hell! DC is better!"
...
Notes: We're pretending Oliver and Barry aren't part of the DC universe.
Hope you enjoyed!!!
