Chapter One

This is the 3rd installment to my HP fan fiction series, The Golden Emerald. So if you haven't read the Golden Emerald or Icy Moon you might be a little lost. This story will follow the Goblet of Fire. I honestly can't tell you how long this will be. I have a feeling this one will be longer than the other two...so enjoy!

Disclaimer: I wish I was the owner of Harry Potter, but I'm not! JK Rowling is, and any of this wonderful material you recognize is surely hers.

Chapter 1: Reunited

Hi Jake,

I'm not going to be able to go to the Quidditch World Cup with you guys, but I'll see you guys there! I have to explain later. Ugh, some ones coming, sorry for the short reply, see you there. Bye!

x Carlie

I quickly tied the letter to Mia's leg and shooed her out the window and just as I did the door flew open. My fourteen year old sister Elvira stepped into the room. Her jet black hair was tied up into a tight bun on the top of her head as she held the same usual sneer. "Mother says to hurry and pack if you want to come," she glared her ice blue eyes at me and muttered. "I don't see why you even deserve to come, after your little escape last year." She gave me a scowl. "Plus, you'll probably do something to embarrass us." I glared my dark eyes at her as she continued. "We're leaving at six am whether you're ready or not." Without even waiting for a response she left my room slamming the door.

At the end of last school year, Silvius picked me up and went to Diagon Alley for a few hours. I actually thought I'd have a decent summer. Merlin was I stupid. Right when I got back, I was grounded for running away. I had to clean almost the entire house, and it was painful. I had to dust our library, even the house elves are capable of doing that. Our library comes close to the Hogwarts library in size. It took me almost the entire summer. Desmond, my father, has been acting suspicious ever since I've been back, he's been disappearing a lot and not returning for periods of time. Every time I asked where he was, my mother would scold me and tell me to keep to myself. Why did they hate me so much.

I was planning on going to the World Cup with the guys, but a friend of my father's invited us to join them. So, I really had no option but to go, I mean at least I was going. They weren't going to let me go with the guys anyways, so it saved me time on planning another escape. I knew from Harry, Hermione, and Ron's letters that they'd be arriving the day of the World Cup, so I'd be there a day earlier than them. Dasha and Eowyn would be arriving the same day as me. I just needed to find them to get a break from my family. At least Silvius would be going too. I didn't know anymore than that though, expect for the fact that it was Ireland versus Bulgaria. I finished packing my trunk. We'd be spending the weekend there. I blew out the candles and laid down onto my bed, quickly falling asleep.

I dressed quickly in a pair of skinny dark jeans tucked into my boots with a green Ireland jacket. Eowyn sent me the jacket along with a very threatening letter saying that if I didn't support Ireland, she would chop my head off. I laughed at the thought, although I really didn't want to test her. I grabbed my trunk and made my way down to the hall. "Merlin, what took you so long?" my mother scolded. "Hurry." I rolled my eyes as I walked over next to Silvius who smiled at me.

"We'll be using a port key to arrive," Desmond said sternly. I followed them all outside towards an old copy of the Salem Issue. This must be the port key. Placing a finger onto the paper, I tightly held onto my trunk so that it wouldn't fly away. Suddenly, it felt as if I was being pinched by my bellybutton while spinning around a million times. I hit the ground hard.

"Bloody hell!" I yelled without thinking, guess I've been spending too much time around Ron. My parents glared at my outburst while Silvius chuckled.

"Hurry along," Desmond commanded to all of us as we followed him down the hill. "No talking." I rolled my eyes. My mother and Avelina quickly followed behind my father, looking identical from the back. Dane and Elvira were following but while looking around. Silvius stayed in the back with me.

I saw the Quidditch Pitch from the top of the hill. There were thousands of tents all over and you could see the poles even from this far away. How they were hiding this from the muggles, I'll never know! There must have been thousands of witches and wizards from all over the world. But wow, that Quidditch Pitch, just looking at it made me want hop onto my broom and soar around. "Wow!" I yelled looking around. "This is..."

"No talking!" my father turned around and glared at me. Elvira turned around and smirked at me. After signing in, we began to search around for our tent. It was a large crowd and we had to squeeze through people to get through. I listened as my mother muttered her complaints that they should have only admitted purebloods, and then maybe there wouldn't be hardly as many people.

We almost reached our tent when I heard a familiar voice call. "Scars!" I turned around, knowing who it'd be. Jake Ryfeld, my best friend was standing there. He must have grown a foot over the summer, he was tall before but now he must have been over six feet, he looked more like twenty than sixteen. He walked over and hugged me tightly.

"Oww Jake," I said and laughed. "Can't breathe here." Jake laughed as he released me.

"Been working out this summer. Glad you noticed," he smirked and then turned to Silvius. "What's up Nyx." Jake patted Silvius on the back.

"Nice to see you again," Silvius replied kindly. I noticed that almost everyone, except Silvius, was glaring in my direction.

"Where have you been all summer?" Jake asked. "Is this all of your family?" I turned around and looked at them all fuming at me. Jake didn't even seem to notice their dark looks. I nodded without looking at him. "I thought you said you only had one sibling?" My eyes widened, crap I totally forgot I told them that! It was so long ago.

"Um yeah," I answered. "I figured I would only tell you about the one that actually mattered." Silvius couldn't back a laugh while my three other siblings looked unamused. My parents were already walking away. Avelina, Dane, and Elvira quickly followed after that comment.

"Okay, I better get back anyway," Jake replied with a laugh. He looked curiously at my three other siblings once again, probably confused but at least he brushed it off. "Party in our tent tonight at midnight, it's the one with the Gryffindor flag and fake palm trees outside, and you can't miss it," he whispered as my parents turned around. I laughed, they would be the ones to bring fake palm trees with them.

"Alright, bye," I added quickly before walking away. Silvius and I caught up to the rest of the family.

Thankfully my family said nothing as we continued walking, except for Silvius of course, who actually liked Jake. "What year is he in again?" Silvius asked me curiously.

"Same as you," I said. "He's a sixth year." Silvius nodded.

"Is he pureblooded?" Elvira jumped in. So apparently she was eaves dropping per usual.

"Does that matter?" I responded coldly.

"Obviously," Elvira replied just as cold.

"In fact, he is pureblooded, okay?" Without responding Elvira just turned around. We continued walking until we reached one of the larger tents. Of course my parents would waste the extra money.

The outside was deceiving. When I stepped inside the tent it seemed to be the size of our Ballroom. There was a kitchen, sitting area, and a table that had enough seats for all of us. There were even three wings off of it. My parents got the largest, Silvius and Dane shared the other, and I was stuck in the same room as Avelina and Elvira. After I finished unpacking, I walked out into the sitting area. "I'm going to explore." I said shoving my wand in my boot and heading for the door.

"You are going nowhere Scarlett," my mother's cold voice came. "Have you forgotten that you're still grounded." I sighed as I fell back onto the couch, "Don't sit down! I just fluffed those pillows!" I angrily stood up. I always wondered what the point of furniture with my mother, if she never allowed us to touch it. "Why don't you make yourself useful and got fetch some water?" Without answering her I grabbed the bucket. What happened to going nowhere?  I thought sarcastically but never said it.

"Where are you going?" Silvius asked me curiously.

"Getting water," I stated, looking angrily at Rosalis

"I'll come with you," Silvius said grabbing the other bucket and walking outside with me.

I passed a few people I knew from Hogwarts, ones that liked me and ones that didn't. Even Silvius saw a few people he knew. We entered into an area that was decked out in all green, the Ireland supporters. Irish music was playing, people were sitting outside their tents joining in playing the fiddling and dancing along. They had their mugs of fire whiskey raised in the air. They were all automatically friendly towards me, probably because of my Ireland jacket. Speaking of the jacket, Eowyn must be somewhere around here. I let my eyes wander around, she had to be here.

Then I spotted her over where they were dancing, she was easy to spot out of the crowd. Her fiery red hair was bouncing up and down as she jumped like she had twenty licorice wands. "Eowyn!" I called to her. Her shamrock green eyes widened as she looked around.

"Who called me name?" she asked paranoid looking around. Silvius and I laughed as I ran over to her. "Carlie!" she shrieked in her Irish accent as she hugged me. "Yay! You're cheering for Ireland! Oh Merlin! Aren't you so excited! Cause I am!" Talking to Eowyn always woke me up, she never just said one sentence and never took breathes. "Who's this?" she asked turning around to my brother with a smile.

"This is my brother Silvius," I said to her. "Silvius, this is Eowyn."

"Hello," he said kindly. He smiled towards her, she smiled and nodded. Wow that was the first time she's ever been silent. I wanted to stay and chat but I had to get the stupid water. I think Silvius must have noticed because he said, "Why don't you give me that bucket and I'll go get water."

"Thanks Silv!" I said to him gladly as he walked off.

"You're brother..." Eowyn said staring at the place where Silvius was just standing. "Is the most adorable creature on this earth...I mean his eyes, they look like the color of the Caribbean ocean! And his hair is so dark and soft looking..."

"Eowyn you have a boyfriend!" I laughed.

"I'm just saying!" She laughed and then her face got serious. "By the way... Dasha and Zane broke up. She's pretty heartbroken, he cheated on her!" Yikes that was never good. Poor Dasha. "So don't say anything to her. Anyways, come on and meet me Mum and Dad!" Eowyn grabbed my hand and dragged me over towards a tent that resembled the Irish flag, it was decked out in green, white, and orange. A lady, with dark brown curly hair was sitting outside next to a man with light blonde hair. "These are me parents! Mum! Dad! This is Carlie!"

"Hello dear," her mother said in a soft voice. "I'm Niamh. It's nice to finally meet you."

"I'm Liam," her father responded in the same soft voice. Wow, where did they get hyper Eowyn? Both of them were sitting in green lawn chairs reading books.

"Mummy!" A little girl screamed running out of the tent, she had the same hair and eyes as Eowyn. "Mummy! Daddy! Mummy! Dad..." She stood there jumping up and down in front of her parents.

"Yes Maeve?" Liam asked calmly without looking up from his book as he sipped a cup of tea.

"I...I can't find it!" she responded frantic, looking around. I looked over at Eowyn curiously, who was this little girl?

"Can't find what?" Niamh asked her kindly yet her eyes were glued on her book.

"The hat!" Maeve shrieked. "I put it on the couch and now it's gone! Like magic! I need that hat!"

"Maeve, deary," Niamh said slowly. "Did you check on the floor? It possibly could have fallen off the couch." The girl quickly ran into the tent.

"That was me sister, Maeve," Eowyn said rolling her eyes. "The girl is bloody wild! She doesn't let you get a sentence in!" I laughed to myself. "That's why I don't talk about her, she never shuts up, and unfortunately she is starting Hogwarts this year! Mum and Dad, Carlie and I are going to go find Dasha, I'll be back later." Her parents nodded and we both walked off.

We found Dasha's tent quickly, it was strange looking though. "Hello guys," Dasha greeted us both. "How were your summers?" Dasha got much taller in the past few months and a lot thinner, she was about an inch taller than me now. Her ash-blonde hair was tied back in a messy bun, although it always looked elegant when she did it. We talked about our summers, I didn't have much to say though. Dasha did add that she and Zane split, but made it clear that she really didn't want to talk about it.

Eowyn's parents were so calm and relaxed and Dasha's parents were absolutely wild, the second I walked in there they began shooting off questions. They also invited me to a party tonight in their tent. Maybe Dasha and Eowyn were switched at birth. We spent a while walking around, until I realized that I probably should have gotten back.

"Wait," I interrupted our conversations. "I have to go, I should have been back two hours ago. I'll catch up with you later." My parents were going to kill me.

"Alright," Dasha said. "We'll see you then."

As I was walking back to my tent, I noticed that the sun was beginning to go down, it must have been getting late. Maybe I was longer than I thought... "Scars!" I turned around to see Cal sticking his head out of a water blue tent with palm trees all around. "There you are finally! Jake said he saw you earlier."

"Oh yeah..." I answered. "I totally forgot sorry guys."

"That's alright," Nico said walking out. "We have so much to tell you. Come inside and see our set up." Their tent definitely looked like the party tent. They literally look like they bought a Hawaiian resort with them to the middle of nowhere.

"Well..." I began to say. I mean, I was already extremely late getting back. But if I was already late, what was a couple of hours going to hurt? "Sounds good to me!" I said walking in.

They were inside with a bunch of their Gryffindor friends. I forgot how close they were to seventeen which was the legal drinking age in the Wizarding World. Since they were close enough, they were all drinking but Jake didn't offer me any. He poured himself a Butterbeer and took a seat next to me. "Don't want to corrupt you," he said to me with a laugh and handed me a glass of water. "Not yet anyway." Maybe if I already wasn't in so much trouble I might have tried it, but I couldn't risk everything.

"Hey Carlie do you want any-" Cal began saying as he poured himself a drink.

"No she's fine," Jake answered quickly. I rolled my eyes but couldn't resist a smile. "So about your family..." he began to say.

"Yeah sorry, I forgot I told you I only had one sibling so long ago. The other three, well...we don't get along to well. We mutually treat one another like we don't exist," I explained.

"You don't look like them either," Jake pointed out.

"I know," I answered. "Thankfully. Or otherwise everyone else might discover we were related." He laughed. Gabe came over and joined us on the couch.

We were talking for over four hours. Four hours until I realized what time it was! I knew now that I was in big trouble. When I left their tent Jake offered to walk me back but if I got caught with him it would probably make it look even worse. So I quietly walked through the rows of tents back to my own. I secretly snuck through the back of the tent. There was silence. Maybe I would get away with it. Quickly, I crawled into my bed unnoticed. I sighed with relief. "Mother!" Elvira's voice called. "Guess who just came in!" I sprung out of my bed. Elvira was standing there in her night gown smirking over at me with a candle in her hand. I glared up at her.

I got even more grounded. I wasn't allowed to leave the tent all day tomorrow until the World Cup began. Also, if I spoke out of line one more time, they wouldn't let me go back to school. If I embarrassed them in front of their friends, I would most likely be locked in the dungeons below my house for the rest of my life. I've never wanted to hurt someone as much as Elvira right now.
