Welcome to Pennsylmania

The Continent was a new establishment, packed with people; mostly families with kids and old couples. She spotted the girls at the long table where the twelve of them could be easily seated. The waitresses were already serving the orders, she'd informed Gia before hand what she wanted because she knew she'd run late.

"Right on time," Brooke Bluebell beamed. Chantel sat next to the stunning wavy haired girl, with brown eyes. Apart from Gia, she was close with Brooke.

"How's shopping?" Gia asked sipping her drink.

"Good," Chantel responded.

"Did you get anything nice?" Brooke asked as she picked on her salad.

"No," Chantel leaned back.

"She and Mrs Godfrey took Roman out for shopping." Gia mentioned. Chantel had informed her about the shopping trip, while they were chatting about the lunch menu.

Gia shouldn't have said it out loud because it had caught the attention of the other girls.

"Hmm," Ashley Valentine glanced at Chantel sharply. "You're baby sitting now."

Ashley was a slim tall girl, with silky black hair and olive skin. She resembled the fierce Disney princess Mulan. She was the only one in the group who had no filter.

This was inevitable. Almost every girl in town has or had a crush on Roman Godfrey at a point of time, and being the only girl apart from the Godfrey family who hangs out with Roman—brought her unwanted attention from the ladies.

Brooke gave Chantel a little nudge, "who won't want to baby sit Roman Godfrey."

Ashley looked pissed as she trained her attention back to her food.

Chantel leaned forward. "Mmm-hmm." Taking a bite of the chicken and cheese salad.

Brooke Bluebell and Roman Godfrey did hook up, but just like every other girl in Roman's life it had been another one night stand. But Brooke hadn't been a bitch about it—she'd told Chantel that it was a drunken mistake and she was more into girls anyway.

Chantel did want to punch Roman's prepossessing face when she'd first gotten the information from Brooke. Roman fucks everything that has two legs and a pussy, but Brooke was her friend and Roman clearly knew it. But she couldn't blame the playboy. After all, Brooke did wanted him at one point of time. Like everyone else in town.

On their drive back home Gia had been complaining about the halwa she'd ordered. Pointing out the fact that; the waitress had particularly mentioned it was made by an Indian chef. But Gia could tell, it wasn't the halwa she's used to—the real halwa was scrumptious and Chantel should totally drop in next time to try the delicacy. She'd accepted the invitation gladly, who would turn down a sweet dish?

Chantel unwrapped Roman's gift, expecting the worst but she was taken aback at the sight of the beautiful pink carousel musical box. Her all time favourite ride, she'd met Roman a year ago at the amusement park while riding the carousel. Then she remembered, that's today. Roman can be the sweetest, at times.

She winded the key. A melancholic music played:
I would never fall in love again until I found her. I said I would never fall unless it's you I fall into. I was lost within the darkness, but then I found her. I found you.

'Until I found you' by Stephan Sanchez. The very song that had been playing on the background. He'd costumed made it for her. She couldn't stop smiling.

Roman had texted her, he'd pick her up for dinner at seven. She knew Roman wasn't going to take no for an answer and it was the last day of Summer break so she decided, to just go along with the flow.

At seven sharp she got a ping from him, so she texted her mother, who was at work: she'll be out for dinner and locked the main door behind.

The fine young man was leaning on his classic cherry red 1957 Jaguar XK 150. It used to be his father's. The most beautiful car Chantel had ever laid eyes on, but the person driving it was more alluring than the car itself.

Roman had a cigarette pressed between his lips. "You look stunning," he smiled charmingly.

She was wearing a blush pink mini off shoulder summer dress. Her hair let loose in soft curls. Pink was her colour, she loved pink. And Roman knew it all too well.

She smiled at him, "and you look like, Roman Godfrey."

Roman always wore the same type of clothings: grey, blue, navy and black. But one of his watches cost as much as a house. And even with his vest on, he always looked like the billionaire he was. He was born rich and he looked the part, every single day.

He opened the door for her like a gentleman. She beamed, "thank  you."

On their way to dinner, she was checking her social. While Roman smoked and hummed to the tune of 'heavenly' by Cigarettes after Sex. Until, she met Roman Godfrey—Chantel had no idea that smoking made a person look so much hotter. She should probably not be promoting smoking.

Roman was a huge fan of bands like Artic Monkeys, The 1975, Cigarettes after Sex. But he occasionally do listens to rap and rock.

When she lifted her head up from her phone dizzy, she realised they were not heading to town. Instead, deeper into the woods.

"Rome," she asked. "Where are we going?"

"I've a surprise for you." He took a puff of the cigarette.

"I thought we were going for dinner." She said.

"This is more fun, than dinner." He winked at her.

"Please, tell me you're not taking me to a strip club or something..." she uttered.

"Sweetheart." His voice easy, "you wanna strip?"

She rolled her eyes. "You know what I mean."

"You might just strip." He smirked playfully, inhaling the cigarette deeply.

• Welcome to Pennsylmania •

The enormous sign read, it was the most happening amusement park at Hemlock Groove. The very park where they first met.

"Why are we here?" She asked as they drove through the gate.

"This day, a year ago, we met here." He spoke softly. "It's our anniversary."

"Rome," a smile appeared on her face. "Sometimes you can be so charming, I can eat you."

"You totally can cos I've rented the entire park for us." He said casually.

"You what?" She looked at him in disbelief.

"You heard it right, love...it's all ours for the night." A smirk appeared on his face. "You can strip if you want."

Why does he always have to kill the mood?

Chantel had never ever seen Pennsylmania this empty, there was no one around except for Roman and her and the park personnels. They had the whole damn park to themselves. The whole damn park. It was a huge deal for her, but not so much for the Prince of Hemlock Grove. He's all about, go big or go home.

The very first thing they did, was grab food. They shared theirs meals of corn dogs, nachos, mini hamburgers, curly fries and tried varieties of slushies. Cherry flavoured slushy used to be a favourite of hers, when she was a kid and it still was. Finally, they ordered the XL cone of vanilla ice-cream. For some strange reasons the ice-cream here tastes better.

"Can you fit the entire thing in your mouth?" Roman asked as she licked the ice-cream.

"You mad!" She huffed handing him the ice-cream. Only Roman Godfrey would ask such improper questions.

"You know what would fit?" He smirked, taking the ice-cream from her.

"Please, don't spoil the moment." She wrinkled her nose.

"If you say so," he chuckled licking the ice-cream.

Chantel handed him the bottom of the cone as she checked the photos they took. There was an entire album in her phone, which was dedicated to the photos and videos of Roman and her. Roman tossed the cone into his mouth and drowned it down with the whiskey from his flask.

They took a little break, as Chantel admired the quietness of the park and Roman smoked his pack of cigarettes. Then, they went round and round the carousel until Chantel felt dizzy. She thought Roman would totally bail and be dead bored by the first five minutes but he didn't. Instead, he rode along with her smoking his cigarettes, hopping from one horse to the other. Until, she grew weary of it. She wouldn't be missing the carousel anytime soon.

After the ride they headed towards the booths where there were varieties of prizes displayed; to win them, they had to throw balls into the baskets that was placed under the toys. Chantel wasn't a basketball player nor did she have an aim like Roman, but she thought at least she could win something but Roman was being playful covering her eyes so that she couldn't see. And after throwing about a dozen balls, dead blind, she gave up.

She wanted to do the same to Roman but she couldn't as he towered over her. The boy didn't even have to give much effort to win her the largest toy displayed. It was a giant coral monster, an incredibly ugly-cute looking soft toy.

"What are you going to name him?" Roman asked, carrying the toy on top of his shoulders.

"Bob." She said.

"Bob." He repeated.

She smiled at him, "you look cute with him."

"So I don't look cute without him?" He was being playful.

"You always look cute, Rome, always." She said pulling out her phone. "Say cheese." She snapped a photo of him and posted it on her story. Then headed towards the cotton candy booth. He followed her with a smirk plastered across his face.

Chantel brought a rainbow coloured cotton candy, she tore it gently. "Do you know that Pennsylvania has more hate groups per capita out of any state in the country?"

"It's about time we won something." He said.

"We also lead the nation on hoho consumption." She took a bite of the fluffy candy. "I wonder if there's a correlation." She continued.

"The moral superiority of being skinny?" He raised a brow.

"Hmm," she mumbled tearing a piece of the candy for him. Chantel couldn't quite remember when they started sharing their meals, but once they did, it stucked to them.

He ate the candy almost sucking the tip of her finger, "I need a bigger piece." He said.

"You don't even like cotton candy." She murmured.

"But my mouth needs something to do," he smirked.

"You can have another corn dog." She gestured at booth on their right.

Roman narrowed his eyes. That was not what he meant and she knew it, but she just played dumb. He then called, "come on."

"Not today." She told him as she saw that he wanted to ride the roller coaster.

"Seriously?" He asked.

"Not in the mood." She said tearing the candy apart.

If she had to go on another ride, she'd puke. Roman had gone all the way to book the entire place for them. And it'd sound rude if she say that.

He dropped the giant stuff animal on the ground. "Come on! When else are you gonna get on this without a line?"

"When have you ever stood in line?" She stated the obvious. Roman Godfrey in a line was a big no-no.

He chuckled and walked upto her, "sweetheart. If there's anything else you wanna ride, just tell me."

"So you making wishes come true?" She bite her lips, she could taste the candy on her lips.

"I sure can." A smug smirk appeared on his face

"So...what am I thinking?" She crossed her arms.

He gazed into her eyes. "Mmm...that you wish I'd kiss you right now."

"I'm thinking that it's time to leave." She chuckled.

"Really?" He said.

"Mm-hmm!" She grabbed hold of his jacket pulling him towards her.

"Do you want Bob?" He asked pointing at the stuff animal laying on the ground.

"Yeah!" she nodded, he picked up the toy. "Come on then." He tossed Bob, she caught it laughing as they headed towards the gate. And somewhere, in the background she could hear the song 'when we were young' by Adele.
