(i) The Parikhs and Pandyas
AT THE PARIKHS' HOUSE
(her outfit)
Aastha Parikh, a young girl who just passed or just basically topped 9th grade from the 'underrated' city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat is a bubbly girl. Quite talkative, yet reserved. She's got huge dreams and has both the dedication and the potential to make them come to life. Although, the worst part about her is that she is stubborn. Although she might be an easy-going person, she gives a very hard time to the people she doesn't like. So, if she dislikes you, stay metres away from her.
Aastha was having dinner with her parents, which was quite unusual honestly because her dad always came home late from work or whenever he'd be home, he would eat his dinner by 8 PM, whilst she would have it at 9-9:30 PM. Aastha's mother made Handvo (a gujarati dish), which is her and her dad's favourite. She was about to eat the seconds she put in her plate, when her dad, Siddharth, said something that made her drop the spoon.
He said, "Beta, we have to tell you something. You know my friend Ravi, your PT teacher? He and his family needed a place to stay as their bungalow was getting reconstructed. And, I thought we had enough space in our house to offer them a place to stay..." he paused to take a bite of the delicious Handvo which was now tasteless to Aastha.
(Dear)
He continued, "I talked to your mother and she didn't have any problem either. They'll be staying here for approximately 9-10 months. Also, Ravi insisted on paying even though I told him he didn't have to. So, we thought it was only fair to give him the whole first floor..." He again took a pause, this time to look at his beloved daughter. She looked like someone just told her that Pakistan won against India in a cricket match.
"Which means, you will have to give up your room so that Jay and Rutuja can stay there, love. Your mom and I thought that it would be better if you moved to the second floor bedroom and that too from tomorrow. We'll ask the househelp to move your things there tomorrow so you get used to that room." He looked at her daughter with a very apologetic look.
Aastha's POV
I looked at my father and mother and then at my plate. I looked with a sad face at my favourite food which was now literally tasteless to me. I might have let go of the fact that Ravi Uncle-cum-sir, Birva Aunty and Rutuja Didi would come and stay at my place for however long. But Jay, I was not about to let that douchebag stay under the same roof as me.
Jay is the most irritating and annoying person I have come across. Even his best-friend or shall I say boyfriend as they're so close, Dhruvit isn't this annoying. This douchebag flirts with everyone and anyone he gets a chance to flirt with. He's the 'cool' guy of the school after whom all the girls die. He doesn't even look that good, yaar. He makes me think of things I don't want to do, like how it would feel to punch someone in the face or kick someone in the guts.
You know what, I would let him stay here too because I'm home very less because of tutions, but, well, stay in MY room? Absolutely not, that place is out of bounds for people like him. I will die before he even steps inside that room or kill him, so, he better not.
END OF POV
"Pappa, jene jya rehvu hoi tya rehva dejo pan ee Jay ne hu MARA room ma nai ghusva dau! Also, you know what, I am not hungry anymore. Have this handvo with that damned Jay!" I shouted, throwing my spoon on the table and standing up from my seat.
(Dad, let everyone stay where they want to but I will not let that Jay enter MY room!)
"You don't have any options, young girl. That man has done you enough favours, especially by letting you pass in the PT examinations. Also, he is your dad's best friend and you can't just do that only because you have some kind of feud with his son. They are staying here and Jay and Rutuja are staying in YOUR room and that final." Aastha's mother, Radhika, shouted, in a voice louder than her daughter's voice.
As Radhika spoke, tears fell out of the young girl's eyes as she knew she had no choice, she looked in her dad's eyes with a hurt feeling in her eyes for a second and then left to go to HER room.
She went to her room and called her best friend, Priya, who lived in the house opposite to hers. She told Priya about everything that happened. Even though Priya felt pity for her friend she couldn't help but laugh at her situation. Afterall, it was just a petty dislike.
AT THE PANDYAS' HOUSE
(his outfit)
Jay Pandya, a young boy, who was enjoying his 10th grade vacation, was a chill guy. He was the 'cool' guy of the school, everyone loved him. Except some, actually, just one person. He was a person who you wouldn't want to mess with. Although, if you were to know him, he was a very fun and goofy kind of guy. He loves his sister, Rutuja more than anything. He has some dreams, he was working hard to complete all of them. His eyes have some mischief in them.
Jay and Rutuja were watching an IPL match, wishing for the Gujarat Titans to win when their father told them about something that grabbed their attention.
His father said, "Remember when I told you I found the place we'd be staying at on rent. Well, not really on rent now that it has been finalised. We'll be living at Siddharth Uncle's till our house is finished. I don't want either of you to do anything embarrassing there. You better keep my pride intact. We'll be moving there in 2 weeks, badhu yaad karine pack kari dejo."
(Pack everything without forgetting)
After hearing this, Rutuja said, "Perfect, koi ajaniya ne tya pan rokavu na pade ne pachu Radhika kaki na haath nu khavani etle toh..." She said the last words while doing a chef's kiss with her hands.
(Perfect, we wouldn't have to stay at someone unknown's place and also the food that Radhika Aunty is just...)
To this, Jay added, "Ha, ekdam mast hoi che emna haath nu khavanu. Emnu ghar pan ghanu motu ne mast che, nai pappa?" He asked the last sentence as he hadn't been there in a while.
(Yes, the food she makes is very good. Their house is also quite big and nice, isn't it, dad?)
JAY'S POV
Even though I know it will be absolute torture to live under the same roof as that demon-spawn Aastha but her parents will make the experience tolerable. Also, staying at their place means that I get to annoy that idiot and there is nothing in this world that would give me more peace during these boring vacation times.
This is my chance to get to know her more and even dislike her more and give valid reasons for the dislike.
This also means that I'll be able to go to Kankaria for a walk rather easily as it's 2 minutes away from their house. I'm happy about this decision of my father but there's one thing I don't like about it, Aastha. I wish she belonged to a family that had no idea mine existed, my life would've been so peaceful.
END OF POV
~
Only one week was left now, the Pandyas' had almost packed everything they needed to live at the Parikhs'.
While at the Parikhs' house, Siddharth and Radhika were busy in the preparation and were really excited but on the other hand Aastha didn't seem to even take interest in the preparations going on for Jay and his family's damned swagat (welcome). She gave absolutely no shits.
Aastha also made sure that Priya would go through the torture of hearing Aastha rant everyday in the two weeks about the fact that she hated him and how he would ruin her life, which would always end in the breaking of a pen or pencil due to the young girl's anger.
