18| They are Omnipotent.
Ember Elliot Elysian
Keith was an elemental magician and was an air mage.
The best way to spot an Ezèrian was by seeing if they were elemental magicians. Ezèrian were categorized in two—one who were just normal elemental magician and the other one who were not only just elemental magician but were also gifted with a special power—making them God like. An example would be Keith--who was not only an elemental magician but was a Healer as well. A Gifted Ezèrian.
Because of having so many advantages, Ezèrian were despised and us being oblivious to our invincible power, we, also despised ourselves as centuries ago, we tortured, exterminated and exploited renèi Possessors just because they were weaker than us.
But the tables have turned now. Ezèrian are oblivious to what they were capable of and now we were being discriminated for having godly powers. The Ezèrian were too afraid and terrified to know how their powers were after knowing what their ancestors had done to innocent people, they were too ashamed to even know what they were truly capable of.
So they hid their identities, like me. They'd wear wigs to show they weren't Ezèrian, they'd go bald to show that they didn't have any kind of godly powers. They'd change their eye colours, some would go blind by stabbing their eyes, some would just kill themselves because they couldn't handle the pressure of being called 'monster'.
But Keith Asher Rivers was different. He believed that it wasn't our fault that our ancestors were torturers, it wasn't our fault that we had powers that were stronger than renèi Possessors and we definitely didn't deserve to be treated the way we were.
He had the same intention as me—create a better world for the Ezèrian. A world where an Ezèrian didn't have to think twice before using their power, a world where they can proudly say that they're an Ezèrian and their ancestors' mistakes don't define them.
I faced Keith as he answered me. "I may be an air manipulator but I've my limitations, you know?" he said, lifting an eyebrow. "As you know, I still haven't learned how to control my power when I use it on living things, so when I'm lifting you both in the air and landing you two on the ground, I might suddenly lose control and then...." he paused. "You know what happens next."
"We fall?"
"And break your bones, yes," Zenix joined in. "And who knows, maybe even die and—"
Keith glared at him, cuttng him off as I sighed. "For how long can you control?"
"Usually five minutes. That is, if I'm concentrating really hard which drains my energy and leaves me exhausted," Keith sighed momentarily. "Tsk, I'm pretty useless, aren't I?" he laughed.
"At least you've power while I have nothing. So, shut up." I rolled my eyes as I turned to Erin, who was still, for some reason apologising.
"So, we're gonna use Keith's magical powers to get to the ground, right?" Now, Amber asked, stretching the word 'magical power' as I nodded.
"But it's not as easy as it seems," I told her. "Keith can use aeroportation for only five minutes and there's no way we can get to the ground in five minutes. It will at least take fifteen minutes—or more than that," I explained as I thought of the ways we could get out of here.
We had to. If not, then we wouldn't be able to go to Kozenia, the capital of our neighbouring territory—Eirlys Empire and where the residence of the Emperor is. I had to negotiate with Vivianne. She could help me with breaking off our alliance as I was sure that just like me, she was against this amalgamation.
I still couldn't decipher why a territory as big as the Eirlys Empire would give off their imperial princess to a small kingdom like us. Father wanted to break my curse so he was forcing me into an amalgamation but what possibly he could've given to the empress that she was ready to sell her daughter like that? I could find the answers of these question if only I could have a talk with Vivianne.
"If Keith can use aeroportation only for five minutes then how the heck he came to your room last night? He told me he used aeroportation to reach here, didn't you, Keith?" Erin faced Keith, lifting her eyebrows.
"Oh, that!" Realization dawned upon Keith's face as he explained. "There are five floors in this palace. The first floor is the Great Hall, the second hall is the Council's room and there's another room where His Majesty and his advisors discu-"
"Just get to the point, will you? I don't have any interest in knowing what's inside the palace," Erin smiled, flashing her teeth and trying her best to not sound rude. "Just explain shortly."
Zenix snickered.
Keith sighed momentarily and continued. "As you know, I can only use aeroportation on livings for five minutes as I lose control. So, here's what I do to sneak in here without getting caught: I use five minutes to reach every floor."
Erin's eyes went wide. "You're telling me it takes twenty five minutes for you to come here. Twenty five minutes?!" she yelled.
I had gotten used to Erin's sudden yelling and shouting but still, sometimes it was too loud and unbearable to hear. I grimaced and seeing that, she mumbled a sorry.
"You guys should add her loud voice in the list of your possible dangers," Zenix said, frowning.
Keith nodded, ignoring Zenix's remarks, a hint of guilt evident in his face. "Yes, and because it consumes so much time, we might get caught and who knows, if you land in a floor's balcony and then the person in that floor sees you?"
"But we still have to do it, right? I see no other way," Erin said, pressing her lips into a thin line.
"Exactly. And that's why we will be doing this:" Keith said as I gestured him to reveal our plan to her. "I will use aeroportation on myself first. I will go to the ground, make sure there are no guards and-"
"How will you make sure there are no guards? If they see you, you're done for." Erin cut him off.
Keith looked like he was annoyed by her continuous questions and honestly, I didn't blame him. But after understanding that Erin was new to everything, he let it slide and replied politely. "I might create a mini tornado or something to distract them," he shrugged as Erin's eyes widened.
"Mini tornado? You are planning to blow off this palace now?" she yelled again, causing three of us to grimace.
"Let me just go and grab something to cover my ears with," Zenix announced, clapping his hands and walking away to grab something from my cupboard.
"It won't be dangerous. I've done this before," he slapped his ears a few times, making sure his hearing ability was okay.
"How about this Erin," I finally spoke. "You let the poor guy talk without interrupting him and when he is done, you can ask as many questions as you want?" I offered with a tight lipped smile as she agreed and both Keith and I sighed in relief.
"After landing on the ground and distracting the royal guards and soldiers, I will come back here again and wi-"
"Why do you have to come back here again? Can't you just stay there on the ground and then lift us dow-"
"Erin," I reminded her.
"I can't perform magic if the thing that I'm performing magic on is too far away," Keith still explained as Erin nodded. "After I return here, I will use aeroportation on both of you and will lift you down and then-"
"You'll come down. We get it, Keith." Erin finished as she sighed. "It all seems too tiring. Can you do it?" she asked, concerned.
Keith nodded, smiling. "I will be tired for a while but will be fine," he assured as I said,
"I won't be taking care of you when you get sick," Zenix called out, ducking out his head from my cupboard and then returning his attention back to his search.
"He says that all the time and then he's the one who can't stop stressing," Keith rolled his eyes.
"Don't over do it. We can stop if it gets too tiring for you," he nodded as three of us began the procedure while Zenix finally approached us, his ears covered with something that looked like cotton.
Erin gasped seeing his do that and smacked him hard on his arm.
He seemed unaffected.
After half an hour, Keith landed on the ground, struck his plan and soon, we heard a rumbling and a persisting roar. This was it. He had already done it. I rushed to the window, gripped the frame and watched in awe as I saw winds raging and circling, dark clouds growling and a tornado forming in the south, a remote area. It wasn't that big as Keith's intention was to only distract the guards and he succeeded as after the guards heard the constant eerie rumbling, they, too made their way out to check what happened.
This was what the Ezèrian were capable of. They are omnipotent. I covered my mouth as I laughed, making sure Erin didn't hear me. We could rule again. The Ezèrian could rule over the world again. Everyone would be bowing to us again if only my power awakens.
My eyes instinctively landed on Erin. My Ezèrian powers were sealed in her. I have to figure out how to get them back.
"Holy moly," I heard Erin gasping, breaking me out of my reverie. "Keith did this?" she swallowed as she mumbled: "And I called him a timid little boy."
Zenix seemed to heard that. He laughed. "Keith can create a cyclone strong enough to blow the whole Elysian kingdom. He is anything but a timid boy,"
I looked down and saw Keith being relaxed. It was just a piece of cake for him. When he noticed the guards making their way to the south, he used aeroportation to get to us. It didn't take much time like before as he must've already trained well and learnt controlling his power just by using aeroportation here and the weeks of practicing paid off.
He heaved a sigh of relief once he got in. "The tornado won't last forever. We have to be quick," he said quickly as I saw Erin's eyes being still wide.
"What happens now?" she asked nervously as both of them stood a few inches away from the railing of the window.
"Keith uses aeroportation on us and we both land on the ground," I answered, being nervous but didn't show it. Erin nodded and said:
"I have a feeling we're gonna die tonight and if we do, I'll kill both of you!"
