"Five Four"

RYU SI OH POV:

The countdown started before Ryu Si Oh could wrap his mind around the situation. It was not that hard for him to escape, considering how Pavel taught him everything, but the thing that caught him off guard was that the voice sounded familiar to him, almost as if he knew that woman on the other side of the phone. Before he realized it, he heard three. He made every effort to open the door, but it was jammed. He was tired, and the last thing he saw before losing consciousness was a person running towards his car, not knowing whether to save him or to finish him once and for all. In the dark, it was hard to see whether it was a man or a woman, and he slowly drifted away, closing his eyes.

"BOOM"

I opened my eyes and saw a person before me, covering my ears with their hands. There were flames all over the place, and it was hard to breathe. I thought Kyle had saved me, but when I saw a different person, I took hold of my gun and kept it at the person's head. Killing has become my second nature now. After turning on the light from my phone, I saw her. My super strong lady. She saved me. She did not make any effort to remove the gun from my hand. She was unbothered by the fact that at any moment, I could kill her and that made me feel things I had never felt before. Both of us were leaning towards each other, and she was about to remove her hands from my face when curiosity got the best of me. I kept my hands over hers, and it felt so warm. Taking a deep breath to calm my mind I proceeded to ask, "Who are you truly?" I cannot let this moment go away so soon. I have to know about her true identity. I have to know about her.

GANG NAM SOON POV:

I never felt so many butterflies in my stomach as I was feeling right now. His eyes were dark, and together, our gaze felt like electricity. There was something about his rough, big hands on my small, gentle hands that made me feel like this was meant to be. I know he felt it too because he made no effort to move or run away from me, as if there was no hurry. We were just enjoying each other's warmth when he asked me about my identity. I was about to smash the building wall as he asked me the question.

"I'm just a girl who saved your life today. That's who I am" Nam Soon replied with confidence.

"Why did you save me?" he asked, smiling foolishly.

"I cannot bear to watch you die in front of my eyes," she replied with so much sincerity that made his heart skip a beat.

"Really? Why? Who am I to you? You don't even know me," he replied with a small laugh, wondering why anyone would be concerned about a mafia like him.

"That's not true. I saw you in the boat....." she was about to complete her sentence when she realized the huge mistake she just committed.

His eyes, which were filled with warmth and fun, were now replaced by cold gaze. How does she know about that?

"How do you..." he was interrupted mid-sentence when she suddenly put her hand over his mouth to shut him up. She turned her face towards the burning car as if to hear something clearly and then towards Si Oh, who was shocked at the bravery of the girl. No one in the world had ever made him shut up. She picked him up as if he weighed nothing and carried him in her arms to run away at a speed that made even Si Oh dizzy. She dropped him off a few blocks away and vanished before he could ask or say anything.

"What happened? How come you guys are here?" she asked Gang Hee Sik, who was standing near the burnt car.

He was shocked to see her there and went towards her to ask why she was near such a dangerous alley.

"I am here for a case. What are you doing here?" Gang Hee Sik asked with concern.

"I was just going home after work, I was just walking to get a bus because my car is in servicing when I heard sirens, so I came running towards here," she replied as she went for a water bottle. She could blame being out of breath on running, but her cheeks were burning red after the encounter she had with that man.

"You should have called me. Anyways, let me drop you home," he replied.

"No. I'll be fine. You should work on this case." Nam Soon said.

He came closer and whispered, "Actually, I wanted to talk to you about the girl's case too."

"Okay then. You can drop me at my father's home," she replied.

After driving for some time, he handed over some documents to her. She was reading it as he began to speak.

Gang Hee Sik: "It was a drug."

Nam Soon: "What? What kind of drug?"

Gang Hee Sik: "We don't know right now, but it cannot be traced in the body. The orphanage was testing different kinds of drugs on the kids. This was not their first time either. They just shift to a new location whenever someone dies or reports about them."

Nam Soon: "We have to help them. I don't care about the level of deep investigation you need to do, but do it and find out about those bastards who are doing this to kids who have no one."

She was furious, and the thought that this could have been her fate if she did not have such an amazing set of parents made her miserable. She was determined to catch them and put them behind bars. She quickly took a bath and had dinner with her father, who was still waiting.

Gang Bong Go (Nam Soon's father): "Nam Soona. I know that we got you back in our lives not that long ago, but I am still your father. Please never hesitate to tell me anything. I know that your mother and I were not there in so many important moments of your life, but from now on, I will make sure I miss none."

Gang Nam Soon: "Appa. I will make sure you miss nothing from now on, and I will come to annoy you with my crazy thoughts whenever I want."

Gang Bong Go: "Okay," he said laughing while Nam Soon wiped off his tears.

She went to bed and was amazed by how astonishing her room looked. Her father kept decorating and redecorating the room as the years went by as she grew up, with the thought that no stone was unturned in welcoming his daughter when she came back. She hopped onto the bed and dozed off to much-needed sleep after wiping her tears, which came running down her cheeks as she was receiving so much love from her birth parents.

"I just wanna be one of your boys tonight," Si Oh whispered in Nam Soon's ears. She never thought that meeting him next time would be like this. She knew what she had to do as she took hold of the collars of his white shirt and threw him onto the sofa. Some buttons of his shirt came undone in the process as he rested on the sofa, wearing the smirk that would make the whole universe beg for his love or his mercy.

She removed her specs and started leaning towards him, taking the lead. She kept a bit of distance, hovering over him as she made him come close by grabbing his tie and whispered in his ears, "I don't want you to be one of my boys tonight because you are the only boy I want tonight, tomorrow and forever." He smirked and closed his eyes, losing himself in her control.

She leaned towards him when "THUDDDD"

"Nam Soona. Are you okay? I think I heard something."

"I'm okay. Appa," she replied getting up from the floor.

"What was that? How could you even think like that? You just met him." she shook her head, trying to calm down her emotions, which were running wild after having that kind of dream. It felt so real to her. She quickly went to her bathroom to freshen up and took a cold shower to keep the wild thoughts at bay.

After having breakfast, she went to work.

Lily: "I was just about to call you. There is an event today and everything is in chaos."

Gang Nam Soon: "What event? I don't recall anything."

Lily: "Well, some company is thinking about funding our hospital, so everyone is doing their best to show our best side to them. You will help, right?"

Gang Nam Soon: "No. My patients and my responsibility towards their health are much more important to me than that."

Lily: "But you will come to the event. right?....Right?" Lily said and she saw Nam Soon walk away towards the children's ward.

A few moments after she left him, Kyle got there while using the location of his phone, and Si Oh went home safely that night, thanks to Nam Soon. He slept soundly after what felt like an eternity.

"Boss. I think it will be good if you do not go out today. Whoever tried to kill you might still be around." Kyle requested his Boss, who was lying in his bed.

"No. I have to go to the event today. Go and make the arrangements and tell me what happened before you found me yesterday." Si Oh ordered.

Kyle: "Boss. You were in the safe alley last night. The fumes and blast news somehow got to the police, and they arrived at the scene. I will report back after finding out more."

"So she was listening for sirens," he thought before dismissing Kyle.

As he was lying on his bed, he thought about the phase in his life when he despised and was scared of death. The idea of not being able to live shook him, and he did everything he could to stay alive. After he grew up, life did not matter that much to him, but yesterday when he was standing at the door of death, the lady rescued him.

He took a deep sigh as he realized that it was not that he did not want to live, but rather that the world never allowed him to. He never took a breath of relief without having the stress of the next task that Pavel would hand over to him. He remembered reading somewhere that we live daily and die only once. He chuckled at his life as he got up from bed and thought how contradictory that statement applies to his life. The least he could do was to bring smiles to some faces and be the person for children that he wanted someone to be in his life.

"I made a promise to the kids the last time I visited that I'll visit today, and I know the pain when a promise is broken," he thought to himself as he got ready and went ahead to Gangnam Hospital.
