6. Welcome to Konoha

_______________

"So, what is your name?"
"My name is Sorairo Moeru. It translates to sky blue blazing. Odd, I know. Most people call me Ash."

"How do you get Ash from Sorairo?"

"You don't, but it's what I prefer to be called."

"I see. Do you know much about your clan, Sorairo?"

"Just what the scrolls told me. We were a powerful clan, with very special abilities. Controlling flames without needing to use handsigns was one of our most powerful abilities. Each flame was different for each user. It was called the Phoenix's Breath ability. But the clan also had several other abilities hidden from the outside world. We were already being kidnapped and taken away because of our ability to produce flames that nothing could put out. When the other Nations heard we had other gifts, they began hunting us to extinction. By the time the Third Great Ninja War rolled around, there were hardly any Moeru clan members left."
Itachi stared at the young girl, trying to comprehend the few facts she'd told him.

"Your parents were not members of the Moeru clan?" The Third continued his questioning.
Ash shook her head.
"No. I was adopted by them. My own parents died after I was born."

Itachi stared at Ash as she sat there on the cot.
Suddenly her thoughts turned contemplating.

"Okay, so, before I go into anything else, there's some stuff I have to tell you. Whether you believe me or not is kinda up to you, but what I have to tell you is the truth." Ash said, looking up at the Third.
"Aside from Itachi, please bring in two people you absolutely trust not to betray Konoha to bear witness to what I have to say please."

The Third looked shocked.
"I'll warn you now Lord Hokage, what I have to say is extremely important and also extremely shocking. So can I suggest Jiraiya of the Sanin if he's in the village? Everyone knows that Mount Moyoboku has his loyalty now." Sorairo said and watched in bemused astonishment as the Third stared at her in shock before fainting.

"Ummm...." She blinked before turning to Itachi, who was also watching her with unhidden shock.

"Surprise...?" She tried half heartedly.
Suffice it to say, Itachi was not impressed.

Standing behind The Hokage and Itachi were Jiraiya and-surprise, surprise-Fugaku Uchiha.
She stared at him until-

Flashes of colour-

Raven haired people dancing with people of different hair colours.

A silver haired woman marrying a raven haired man.

"Uchiha-san, was my clan particularly close with yours?" She asked the older Uchiha.
His frown became more pronounced.

"Our families have been intertwined for generations."
Ash smiled.
"With all due respect, Lord Hokage, but why are we believing that this child has knowledge she shouldn't?" Jiraiya asked, staring at the eight year old suspiciously.
"I say that someone with this information sent her here to throw us off our guard."

Ash stared at him, contemplating what she should say around Fugaku without revealing too much and putting the toad sage in danger.
The answer came to her shortly after.

"Do you still visit Ma and Pa Jiraiya-sama?" She asked innocently.
Jiraiya looked taken aback, while the Third chuckled slightly.
Fugaku just stared at the child harder.

Ash smiled.

"Alright let's begin."

And with that, she began telling the truth.

Well, some of it anyway.

Ash followed behind both Itachi and Fugaku. After hearing what she had had to say, the Third had given custody of her over to Fugaku. She was going to be living with them from now on.

'That's good. Because I can watch the Uchiha clan closely and stop them from planning the coup.' She thought grimly.
She looked at Fugaku, who always seemed to be frowning. She wondered if the unrest had already began. But then she remembered that since Naruto was already born, that it probably had. She sighed softly. This issue was something she'd had to take up with the Third privately. Without Danzo hearing of it.
"Are you alright Sora?" Itachi asked softly. She turned and smiled wearily at him, though secretly thrilled that he was calling her by a nickname he picked out.
"Yeah, just thinking." She responded. He nodded.

"Fugaku-san," Ash called.
He turned slightly, acknowledging her silently.
"Thank you for taking me in. I'm truly grateful." The 8 year old spoke.

"Of course." The older Uchiha spoke before turning back to the road.

Ash couldn't pinpoint why, but she was oddly happy as Itachi showed her to the bedroom next to Sasuke's. She'd forgotten how adorable the younger brother was when he was just a child.

Just as she was thinking that, said adorable child rushed out of his room to embrace his nii-san.
Ash had the privilege of seeing Itachi's face light up in true joy and tenderness as he returned the hug.

"Welcome home nii-san!" The little boy exclaimed, his cheeks pink with excitement.
"Thank you Sasuke." Itachi replied kindly.
Ash had to squeeze her cheeks to stop from squealing at the adorableness of the two.

Of course though, her movements caught the attention of the two Uchiha's.
"Ah, Sasuke, this is Ash. She'll be living with us from now on. Ash, this is my little brother, Sasuke." Itachi introduced.
Ash dropped her hands from her cheeks and smiled at the little boy.
"Hello Sasuke, it's nice to meet you." Ash greeted.
The little boy, instead of responding, gripped his elder brother tighter and glared balefully at the girl.
"My nii-san." He mumbled.

Both Ash and Itachi laughed nervously at the boy's cute actions.
"Don't worry Sasuke. I'm not here to take your nii-san away from you. Pinky promise." She said as she crouched and held out her pinky.
Sasuke puffed out his cheeks and promptly turned away from.
Ash went into a mini depression.
Poor Itachi was just unsure what to do.

Jiraiya and the Third stood on the Hokage Mountain, overlooking the peaceful village they had fought to protect.

"Lord Third, that girl, she must be protected. Are you sure she's going to be safe with the Uchiha?" Jiraiya asked.

"I believe so Jiraiya. She seemed ecstatic to be living with them."

"Do you think she's telling the truth? Or do you think this is an elaborate plot by the councilman."

The Third shook his head.
"Even Danzo doesn't have the kind of information Ash told us. I believe she's telling the truth. Not all of it, but enough."

The Third flashed back to something Ash had told him after the Uchiha head and heir had left the room.

"Lord Hokage," she had whispered. "You need to stop being so soft hearted with a certain councilman immediately. He is not your friend anymore. That man will reek havoc on this nation if you let him continue to build his ROOT Foundation. He already has half your Anbu compromised. Trust me on this. That man is going to destroy the Uchiha clan and attempt to turn the Leaf Village into a authoritarian regime. And if you don't do something about it now, he damn well may achieve it in the future. You must do something, Lord Hokage."

The Third sighed. If what the girl was saying was the truth, then he needed to act quickly to ensure the future was not a bloody one.

"Report Fox."

"Sir! The Uchiha heir brought an eight year old female child with considerable chakra reserves to the T & I building. The Third Hokage, along with Uchiha-sama and Jiraiya-sama visited the girl in her cell. Since there was no operative working within the T & I building, unfortunately, nothing exchanged between the child and the three could be heard, even though they were in there for an extensive amount of time."

"How long did Hiruzen spend in there with the child?"

"Approximately four and a half hours sir."

"I see. Did anything else happen?"

"Yes sir, the child was seen leaving with the Uchiha head and heir, heading to the Uchiha district on the outskirts of the village."

"And what about Jiraiya and the Third?"

"They were seen speaking on the Hokage Mountain, but we were unable to ascertain what they were saying without giving ourselves away sir."

The man leaned back and narrowed his eye.

"I see. Find out what they discussed. That is all Fox. Dismissed."

The operative gave one last "sir" and left without a trace.

'Don't think you can fool me Hiruzen. You weren't made for this game. But I was.'
