MICAH BLEU
It was back to the working week quicker than I could blink, having had the best weekend with my mother, I didn't want to go back to work. In my mind I was planning on booking a week off and going to see her, do some fun things together.
She loved the show, she just loves being out in general. She never gets the chance to go out and put some makeup on, I wanted to give her some normality back into her life. No one deserved that more than her.
Wednesday rolled around quickly but only because the company as a whole was extremely busy, focusing on a new event that we have coming up in a couple weeks. Weston was definitely worked off his feet but it was all part of the job, we both knew that.
At five o'clock an email pops up on the bottom of my screen, my heart pounding when I realise that it's from HR. My hand slides across my mouse and I double click onto the pop up quicker than a flash of light.
My eyes roam over the email as it enlarges on my screen, holding my breath as I skim the words.
We are pleased to offer you the position...
"Oh my God!" I say out loud.
Theo, Lauren and Abi all peep over their screens at me. "What?" Lauren questions, seeming startled from my sudden voice.
"They offered me that job!" I exclaim with a wide grin.
"Congrats Micah!" Lauren smiles back at me.
"See, I told you!" Theo stands from his desk and closes his fist and reaches out for me. "Well done man, didn't doubt you for a second."
I examine his hand and close my own fist before bumping his. "Well done Micah," Abi tells me as I turn towards her. "You really deserve it."
"Thanks guys," I say with a never ending smile.
My body raced with all sorts of chemicals, wanting to scream it out to the whole office but I refrain. I relax back into my chair and stare back at the email, I really got it.
Who knew I was actually good at this stuff? I laugh to myself.
Soon everyone starts to pack away and we say goodbye to each other, I on the other hand was waiting for everyone to leave so I could run into Weston's office screaming with success.
After half the office had left, I push up onto my feet and walk towards his office. Knocking lightly on his shut door and entering when he tells me to come in. Once our eyes meet he instantly smiles and moves his hands away from his laptop.
"Well look who it is," he says proudly as he stands from his chair and circles his desk to reach me. "The brand new logistic analyst manager."
I hold my hands out and smile. "You're looking at him."
Weston steps forward and engulfs my body with his, inhaling his sweet cologne as I rest my head down onto his chest. "Congratulations my love," he mumbles into my shoulder. "You deserve it so much."
"Thank you," I nod gratefully as I pull away slowly.
He holds a hand to the edge of my shoulder before leaning down to steal a quick kiss from my lips. "Are you happy?" He asks.
I nod instantly. "Very happy," I confirm. "I feel so relieved, this is what I've wanted for a while now. I'm just beyond excited."
"Well, we still need to get some things set up on our end. But how does starting on Monday with your new role sound?" He questions as he leans back onto his desk, clutching onto my hand in the process.
"Sounds great," I say as I step between my legs. "I'll need to finish somethings off too so a couple days gives me enough time."
"Perfect," he smiles as he glances down at my lips and then kisses me again. "What you doing now?"
"Nothing," I shake my head. "Just going to head home."
"Well don't," Weston's voice says sharply. "I have a surprise for you."
I tilt my head and narrow my eyes towards him. "A surprise?"
Weston hums and stands from the desk before walking around to start packing up his things.
"What kind of surprise?"
"Oh, well you'll have to see..."
"Why have you got me a surprise?" I question as I fold my arms over my chest.
Weston unplugs his laptop charger and places it into his bag. "For all your hard work obviously and I just wanted to treat you." He shrugs simply.
"Hey!" I say loudly, catching his attention again. "We said no unnecessary gifts unless it's for special occasions."
He smirks in my direction. "Well it is for a special occasion, you see?"
I shake my head. "A promotion isn't a special occasion." I stand my ground.
"Well it is for me, so you'll just have to accept it," he tells me with a confident smile.
My eyes roll playfully as he slides his jacket onto his body and follows me out of his office, watching as he locks it behind himself. "Where are we going for this surprise then?" I ask sweetly.
"You'll have to see, it's not too far from here." He nods as we walk down to the ground floor.
Darryl was waiting for us at the bottom, climbing in and greeting him politely. He drives off instantly without Weston telling him where to go, I sink back into the leather seats and look at him out of the corner of my eye.
"This better be like a new mug or something," I mumble out to him, causing him to laugh.
"A mug?" He repeats. "Now that's just insulting."
I frown at his words. "I just want to know what it is." I huff out. No patience left in my body.
Weston tuts at my attitude. "I wonder when you're going to get better at accepting surprises," he grins at me.
"Never," I deadpan.
"Stop being so dramatic," he rolls his eyes. "And now, I need you to close your eyes. No peeking or I'll be really mad."
My chest exhales a soft sigh as I shut my eyes, too tired to even attempt to slyly open them. "How far are we?" I ask.
"One minute," he tells me.
"Fine," I mumble.
Within the space of fifty seconds, I wasn't counting. We pull up somewhere and I can hear Weston crack open his car door. "Keep your eyes shut," he tells me before getting out.
My lips begin to purse before he opens my side and grips onto my arm, slowly helping me out of the car. "I've got you," he murmurs as I place both my feet onto the floor.
"I don't know where I'm going," I say into the open.
Weston chuckles gently. "I've got you." He says again as he holds onto my shoulders from behind, guiding me.
"Okay..." he trails off as we come to a halt. "You can open your eyes, now."
As soon as he instructs me to open them, I do.
The air is knocked out of my lungs at the sight in front of me. "West," I gasp, not knowing what else to say.
My eyes roam over the sleek black Audi car sitting perfectly between the lines of the car park, so shiny that you could see our perfect reflections in the bonnet.
"W-Wh--" my mouth stumbles across my words. "I'm so confused."
Weston steps closer to me and wraps an arm around my shoulder. "Well, you want to go and see your mother more often. Having a car means you can pop by whenever you want, on your terms. No longer having to catch the train or the bus."
A nervous laugh escapes my lips as I peek up at him. "Weston, this is crazy," I shake my head. "But I can't even drive. I haven't even had one driving lesson."
He dips his head and raises an eyebrow, his right hand tucking into the pocket of his jacket. "Well..." he starts. "Good thing I also bought you these."
He releases an envelope from his pocket and holds it out in front of me. I glance up at him and then down to the paper, slowly taking it from him and flicking open the envelope.
Inside was a letter and leaflet for a local driving school, thirty hours had already been paid for and I could start whenever I wanted.
"Oh my God," I mumble under my breath. "Weston, I-I don't even know what to say."
Weston grins and presses a kiss to my forehead. "You don't have to say anything," he says as he grips my arms gently. "I just wanted you to be able to have this freedom to see your mother. You just got a promotion. I'm so proud of you, I just wanted to treat you."
My eyes begin to swell with tears, not being able to look away. The feeling of my heart thumping inside my chest was all I could hear, trying to convince myself that this was real.
"Thank you," I say at first. "I love you but you shouldn't have done this. A car West? Are you nuts?!"
"Apparently so," he breathes out with a firm smile.
"A car," I repeat again as I turn my head away from his and towards the beauty now in front of me.
"It's all yours," Weston says as he reaches into his pocket and removes the set of car keys. He grabs onto my hands and places it between my palms. "You deserve it."
"Fuck," I mumble to myself as I clutch the key together with one hand and wipe my damp eyes with the other. "This is a lot to process."
"I know," he nods instantly. "But after you told me your mum wasn't very well and you want to go and see her more often. It was the first thing I did, bought a reliable car that is cheap to run. It's new so it shouldn't have many problems within the first few years. But I have got great insurance in case anything does happen."
I lean up onto my toes to wrap my arms around his body tightly, his arms folding around my back. My lips open to release a shaky breath, this really was my life and I couldn't believe it. "Thank you so much," I mumble into his ear. "This is a lot, almost too much. But thank you, I am so beyond grateful for everything."
Weston rubs my back soothingly. "You are most welcome my love." he exhales slowly. "I hope you like it."
"Like it?" I repeat as I pull back from him and blink through my wet lashes. "I fucking love it. Just got to pass my test and theory first."
"I don't have a doubt in my mind that you'll breeze through it all," Weston tells me as he brushes his hand down the edge of my cheekbone.
"Hope so," I nod. "I might be shit at driving."
"That is what practice is for, I can take you out in it and we can practice together." He suggests and my eyes instantly light up.
"Yes," I grin. "Although I don't want to do it around here, it's so busy and everyone drives like dicks."
Weston releases a laugh and nods. "Agreed, we can go down some quiet residential roads until you get your confidence to hit London."
"Okay but all of this," I say as I circle my hand around the envelope and then the car. "Means you are not getting me a birthday present or a Christmas present this year."
I fold my arms over my chest and Weston instantly flexes an eyebrow at me. "Is that so?" He teases.
"Yep," I nod boldly. "I will simply decline and pretend I didn't see anything."
"Now that's just rude," he replies playfully.
I shake my head suddenly. "Please West, this is making me feel guilty."
His lips fall into a frown as he steps closer. "What are you feeling guilty about? I want to gift you these things, I want to treat you. That's all it is."
"Maybe you're too kind," my head begins to shake as I prod his firm chest.
Weston catches my hand and smirks. "No such thing," he winks casually. "Now, would you like to come for a spin in your brand new car?"
I hum. "But I'm not even going to attempt to drive until I've had a few lessons with an instructor. I don't want to fuck up this beautiful machine."
His laugh felt hypnotic. "Beautiful machine," he repeats. "God, I love you too much."
My cheeks burn into a deep blush as he presses a kiss to my lips. "It is though." I pout against his mouth.
"Come on," Weston pulls away, beckoning his head to the car. "Let's take it for a ride."
He takes the keys from my hands and strolls towards the car, making my whole body clench.
I know what else I'll be taking for a ride later.
