A Life Of Regret - Nadine POV
Its been ten years since I killed Mary, and I haven't been able to stop regretting it. I was never caught for my crimes, since Natalia and Esme cleared up the scene and destroyed any evidence of our involvement in her cause of death. After high school I cut off contact with them. I haven't spoken to them, nor do I have any intention to.
I got married to Hunter a few years ago, and our daughter is nearly five years old. I know Mary had a crush on him, but he harshly rejected her. I suppose I married him for her, since she can't. Our little girl looks kinda like Mary, and I like to believe she's watching over my daughter, protecting her from the same fate that met her at my hands.
"Mum, can you tell me a story?" She asks me one night as I'm putting her to bed. I nod my head and sit on the bed beside her.
"Of course sweetie. This is the story of a girl called Mariah Campbell." I begin. My daughter looks up at me with an interested expression on her face. "She was bullied by some very nasty people, so badly she didn't want to be alive anymore. Her main bully was a girl, lets call her Nadia, realised she made a mistake when Mariah attempted to make herself disappear and never come back. She tried to fix Mariah, make her happy and want to live, but she was too late. Nadia was forced into a situation, where she had to choose between true love, or her friends who encouraged her bad behaviour. She chose her friends, and forever regretted it." I told her story, changing mine and Mary's names. Her eyes widen.
"Couldn't she choose both?" She asks me, a sad and worried look on her face. I sigh and shake my head.
"That's not always an option. If she chose love, her friends would turn against her. She made a dumb choice to side with her so called friends, because if they were her friends she wouldn't be forced to choose." I explain to her. She gives me a big hug, and I hug her back.
"Love you mum." She smiled, kissing my cheek. I really am a lucky girl to have a daughter like her. She certainly won't turn out like how I did when she gets to high school, and I so hope she wouldn't turn out like Mary did because of me.
"Love you too princess." I kiss her cheek in return. She lets go and lays back in bed, allowing me to tuck her in. I give her a gentle kiss goodnight, heading out of the room. "Good night Mary. Sweet dreams."
