Inaya's POV:
Hi, I'm Inaya and I am the quieter twin compared to Diya. Diya is my older twin and she is very chatty.
In fact, right now in school, she is talking to Miss Chaturvedi trying to make her forget all about the lesson. Our teacher always finds it hard to believe that we are actually twins. I mean I sometimes find it hard to believe that me and Diya are twins.
Miss Chaturvedi: okay Diya, enough talking. Back to learning ABC.
Diya: but I'm not done yet.
Miss Chaturvedi: zip that little mouth of yours Diya.
Diya: but my mouth isn't a jacket, it doesn't have zips.
Miss Chaturvedi: sweetie, you can close your mouth.
Diya made a face as she kept her mouth closed. A rare sight. Our teacher went back to teaching again. The entire day was boring without Diya blabbering off and I think that everyone also thought that the day was boring. We all needed Diya to say some funny nonsense to our teacher but for some reason, she actually decided to stay quiet until...
Miss Chaturvedi: now blue and yellow makes green.
Diya: green isn't a nice colour.
Miss Chaturvedi: thank you Diya for your valuable opinion.
Diya: but what kind of green does yellow and blue make? Dark green? Light green? Neon green? Pastel green?
Miss Chaturvedi: why do you know all this?
Diya: mummy told me and Inaya. You know pastel green is actually a cute colour and it looks so cute with pastel blue.
Miss Chaturvedi: thank you Diya. Inaya, does your sister always need to talk?
I nodded with a smile. My sister always needed to talk. She loved giving her opinion on everything and everyone.
Miss Chaturvedi: well class, thanks to Diya, you will have to learn about colours in art which is in two days but maybe art will be cancelled since Mrs Khatri won't be back from her family issues for five days.
Me and Diya: kya?
We both loved art despite our different personalities. Diya was obsessed with films and being filmy and being talkative. I was more obsessed with dancing and being quiet. We even looked different but if there was one thing that was the same for both of us then that was our love for art and also for love for mummy. Me and Diya learnt how to paint before we could even talk. The only lesson we both loved was art and it was the only lesson Diya could actually be quiet in.
Diya: Miss Chocolate, you can't cancel art. It the only good subject.
Miss Chaturvedi: I feel offended.
Diya: I don't know what that means.
Me: Miss Chaturvedi, art is such a good subject. Don't cancel it.
Miss Chaturvedi: and the other twin has started talking. Look girls, we don't want to cancel art but unless we find another teacher to do it, we can't do art.
Me: why don't you do the lesson?
Miss Chaturvedi: sorry sweetie, I don't know art.
I made a sad face and my sister also made a sad face.
Miss Chaturvedi: tomorrow, I want all of you to bring your dad's photo so we can make father day cards. Now school is over. Bye class.
Class: bye Miss.
Dad's photo...I looked at Diya who looked at me as we went out of the classroom. We didn't have a photo of our dad. Mummy never showed us his picture. We asked once but she just said that there was no picture of him.
You might be wondering what happened to mine and Diya's dad...truth is we don't actually know. Mummy doesn't really talk about it then our grandparents kept mute about it and our par dadi....par dadi refuses to talk about our dad. Did mine and Diya's dad do something bad that no one talks about him?
Diya: Inaya, I got a great idea.
Me: kaunsa idea?
Diya: when everyone makes their card, we can skip the class. We can go get gola.
I smacked my forehead. This girl was impossible.
Inaya's POV ends.
Inaya and Diya saw Tej waiting for them. They ran up to him and hugged him tight.
Tej: did my girls really miss me that much?
Inaya: haan.
Diya: I missed your veg cutlets more.
Once again Inaya smacked her forehead whilst Tej laughed.
Tej: let's go and make your cutlets then.
Inaya: when is mummy coming?
Tej: she is just held up at the office so she will come in an hour.
The girls nodded as they followed Tej to his car. Tej started driving and the girls looked out of the windows. Tej noticed how quiet the girls were especially Diya. Diya was normally never quiet. Inaya was quiet but Tej could tell that it wasn't the good kind of quiet.
He stopped the car at a simple big (but not mansion) white house. He went out of the car then opened the door for the girls. The moment the three entered the house, Diya and Inaya were hugged by Pinky, Shakti and Jhanvi.
Jhanvi: how are my girlies?
Inaya: I'm good.
Diya: me too. I just need veg cutlets.
Jhanvi, Pinky and Shakti laughed.
Tej: let's go make cutlets then. Inaya, you want to make some with us?
Inaya shook her head with a smile. Diya and Tej went to the kitchen with Diya blabbering some nonsense but Tej listened with a smile. Inaya went on the sofa with Pinky, Shakti and Jhanvi then Dadi came downstairs.
Inaya: par dadi!
Dadi: hello Inu, meri jaan.
She sat next to Iniya.
Inaya: par dadi, you know our teacher is thinking not to do art this week.
Dadi: what? Really?
Inaya nodded, sadly pouting.
Dadi: aww mera baccha, surely your teacher won't cancel it. If she does, I will come and tell her off.
Inaya: pakka?
Dadi: haan pakka. Teachers are scared of me. I have always needed to sort out everyone's teachers. When Om's teacher...
She didn't complete what she was saying. Jhanvi, Pinky and Shakti looked down remembering their three diamonds who decided to leave them. Well Shivay left because of majboori but Om and Rudy...they left them by choice. The elders and Gauri all felt betrayed and though they were healing, scars still remained.
Inaya: par dadi, who is Om?
Dadi: Om...did I say Om?
Inayanodded.
Dadi: oh you see Inaya, I was doing bhajan earlier so I was like 'Hari Om Sharan'. So accidentally I said Om. I meant to say Shakti...Shakti's teacher was fed up of Shakti doodling in his books so I told her that Shakti is expressing his artistic talent and I will not let her intervene with Shakti and his talent else she will get a beating from me.
Inaya laughed. Shakti gave a smile. He knew for a fact that he wasn't the one who doodled in books, it was Om but Dadi used his name so Inaya wouldn't find out the name of her father.
Dadi: Inaya, I haven't seen you dance in so long. Will you dance for your par dadi?
Inaya nodded as she got up and stood in the middle of the living room.
Inaya: choti dadu, play Hello Ji.
Shakti gave her a smile as he typed in the song and pressed 'play'. Inaya started to dance with a smile on her face. Soon Inaya was done dancing then went back to par dadi.
Dadi: haww mera baccha, that was amazing.
Inaya: was it?
Dadi: haan baby.
Inaya snuggled up against Dadi. Soon Diya and Tej came back with a plate of veg cutlets. He gave cutlets to everyone. At that moment, they heard a voice.
Voice: hey everyone.
Everyone saw Gauri walking up to them with a smile on her face. She kept her handbag to a side and hugged her daughters.
Jhanvi: welcome Gauri. Do you want some chai?
Gauri: yeah I'll make myself some chai.
Pinky: its fines, I will makes its.
Gauri: no Pinky mum, I'll make it. You rest.
Pinky was about to say something but Gauri went to the kitchen. The reason why she preferred to make her own chai was because of glucose biscuits. Om loved having glucose wala chai and she loved it too. The chai reminded her of the fond rainy evenings they spent together. She would make glucose wala chai and he would make pakoras. They were beautiful times before everything became messed up and he left her showing her place in his life and that place was nothing, she was zero in his life.
As she was making her special chai in the kitchen room, the scene moved to the living room where....
Jhanvi: Diya, Inaya, I think you two should change in your pyjamas.
Iniya: okie.
Diya: let's go Inaya. Maybe we find chocolate in our second room.
Inaya and Diya ran upstairs with the elders rolling their eyes. Basically the girls had two rooms. One in their original house where they only live with their mother and another in the Oberoi's house. Tej and Shakti got into the habit of leaving sweet treats in their room whenever they visit.
Before they went in the room, Inaya noticed that one of the rooms' lights were on.
Inaya: Diya, let's go close this light first.
Diya: kyu?
Inaya: it saves money. Light come in bill you know.
Diya: it does? Since when?
Inaya: since always. Chalo.
Diya and Inaya went inside one of the elders' room to close the light when they noticed one drawer open. Inaya smacked her forehead and went to close it when she saw a picture...she picked it up and her jaw dropped.
Inaya's POV:
I saw my mummy but she was with a man...a man I never saw before. He was taller than her, way taller and he had long black hair up to his shoulder. I looked at Diya who was waiting for me then looked at the man in the photo. He looked a lot like Diya...
I looked at mummy, she looked so pretty but she had this red thing in her forehead parting and some necklace I never saw her wear before. My friends' mummies wear those things...is this our dad?
Diya came up to me and saw the picture in my hand. She was also shocked seeing the picture. She then kept her hand in the drawer and brought out another photo.
In that photo, I saw; par dadi, bade dadu, bade dadi, choti dadu, choti dadi, mummy, that long hair man and four other people. Two had blue type eyes. One man was in a black vest type and the other girl was wearing some blue top.
Diya: who are these people?
Me: I don't know.
Diya: this man with mummy...is that our dad?
Me: maybe.
Diya: let's show this to mummy.
Diya was going to get us in trouble.
Me: no Diya, we will get told off.
Diya: urgh fine. Oooo what this?
She went in the drawer and picked up what looked like a massive piece of paper that bade dadu and choti dadu read sometimes.
Diya: this long hair dude is an art teacher.
Me: really?
Diya: Iniya, time for some convincing with Miss Chocolate.
Me: let's do this.
Normally I don't join in Diya's plans but I love art so this time I was going to join in some convincing to have an art lesson this week plus maybe if this guy comes then we could try and see if he was our dad.
Precap: raabta
Sorry for a very late update. I went in reader's mode, I had writer's block and some families difficulties...let's just say me and my dad don't get along much so yeah...
I hope you guys liked this. I hope you enjoyed Inaya's POV.
Do you think Inaya and Diya will manage to get the long hair guy to their school?
Will Gauri one day talk about Iniya and Diya's dad?
Are you all liking the twins?
