Coffee And Talks

"Umm, remind me again what I am doing with you, at one in the morning, completely alone not to mention unarmed." I asked the stupidly good looking guy walking in front of me.

Is it possible for someone to look so freaking hot just from their backside?

I almost didn't register Reece's laugh as I was too busy checking out his ass.

"What do you think I am going to do with you Wisteria Brooks?" He asked, walking backwards so as to give me a- is that supposed to be a seductive look?

"Well, for starters, you could be a serial killer or a paedophile for all I know!" I exclaimed, flustered.

We had been going around little alleys for the past fifteen minutes, going from one alley to the next and even though the buildings on this area looked less like 'bikers gang' and more like 'family man', one can never be too safe.

" If that's for starters then what's for dessert I wonder." Reece replied definitely giving me a seductive look while blatantly checking me out. Ass.

I crossed my arms over my chest while giving him a pointed look.

"Relax Brooks, I am not going to sexually harrass you. I am a good guy who's taking you to a little midnight rendezvous."

" It's past one in the morning Grey." I groaned. The nights events along with the alcohol in my system was getting to me at last and I could feel an impending headache coming soon.

"Well, it can be a morning rendezvous then." He said, turning forward and shrugging.

" Just tell me you are not going to murder me and leave my dead body to be eaten by vultures. That is a horrible way to die." I mumbled, following him into yet another alley.

"Trust me on this one. That's not the way a gentleman kills."

"Well, that was reassuring."

Some decades and after the birth of ten Wisteria's later

Nah, kidding. It was actually just a couple of minutes later.

We stood outside a lit up neon board that said Nana's Nook In big bold letters. It was a small conjugated looking place stuck between a salon and an old building.

Recce looked at me grinning and like a true gentleman opened the doors for me. Rolling my eyes I went inside.

The first thing that hit me was the smell of coffee. That itself was enough to rejuvenate me. I let out a sigh and took in the place. It was bigger than what it had looked from outside, the perfect cozy dine in with tables spread out everywhere and a counter with what looked liked jars filled with candies in it along with all kinds of delicious sweets from - pastries to Apple pies in the glass counter below it. The only thing that ruined the perfect place was the girl behind the counter, wearing a gothic look, with heavy massacre, who looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there.

Reece found a table for us near the door, looking out to the night filled alley. The gothic girl came to us as soon as we sat.

"What do you want?" She asked in the most annoying tone possible.

"How about your phone number?" Said Reece, winking at her. I stared at him.

The gothic girl blinked for a second taken aback and then flashing Reece a smile opened her mouth to most probably give it to him.

"I will take a cappuccino with extra sugar." I said, in no mood to be the third wheel today.

The girl flashed me a dirty look but wrote down the order.

" I'll take a coffee sweet face. Dark and bitter." Reece said, giving Gothic Girl a smirk.

"Right away Hun." She replied before sauntering her way to the counter.

"Sweet face? From which angle did she appear sweet to you?" I growled as soon as she was out of ear shot to Reece who was still checking out the girl as she went.

"Why, you jelous sweet pea?" Said Reece smugly, at Lars turning toward me.

"Ew! Don't you ever give me nicknames. And no I am just tired and wacked out and in no mood to look at you shamelessly flirting with a non-sweet girl." I said, giving him a duh look.

"First, that's a word? And second, sweetpea all girls are sweet, don't ya think?" He said wiggling his eyebrows, leaning in closer to me.

"Believe me when I say no." I said, Leaning back and letting my head hang from the chair.

Reece was quite for a moment. I looked back at him to make sure he had not gone off to hit on another girl. But he was still sitting there looking at me with those penetrating green of his eyes.

"What?" I asked, quirking an eyebrow.

He let out a sigh.

"Well, Brooks. It's story telling time." He said.

The cappuccino had gone cold and so had my throat.

I had recounted all the events of the night to Reece who like me had not touched his coffee. The entire time I was telling Reece about what had happened, he had been looking right at me. Not once did his gaze shift from my face (except for maybe when the Gothic Girl came and gave us our beverages along with her number to Reece.)

I had let it all out. I had even told him about how Autumn had hurt me by siding with Will. I understood that she had been in love' with this boy for more than three years but do you throw your best friend away for the love of your life? I guess you do.

I don't know why i had told Reece about it. I guess I just needed someone to listen for once and since Autumn was not here i found solace in Reece Grey. The guy who could very well go back call Auna and have a laugh about how "crazy Shakespeare" narrated her sob story to him.

"Just so you know, I didn't tell you this because I want a one night stand or something like that from you. I told you because you were here that's all. I know you could have heard it for yourself tomorrow at school but because you asked, I told. Don't go around making a joke out of this tomorrow." I told him, narrowing my eyes at him with each passing word.

Reece, who had been looking the entire time at me with sympathy, frowned at me.

"Listen up Brooks. I did not just give out the location of my secret diner just because I felt sorry for you. I know what you have been through and even though I know you won't tell me why this Elite hates you so much. It's all right. Because at least you had enough faith in me to at least spill something."

I looked at him. He seemed so genuine that for a moment I wondered what it would be like to actually trust someone for once and for that person not to break my trust. But I knew that was not how the world worked.

Trust no one.

He placed his hand over mine and was about to utter some other sympathetic words when his phone buzzed. And kept on buzzing.

"That's a lot of notifications." I commented while slowly retracting my cold hand from his warm ones.

And then my phone started buzzing too. Reece was already looking down at his phone and scowling. I made to take out my phone, when Reece cursed.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Nothing. Just- just give me your phone Wisteria." He said, looking up at me with a troubled look on his face.

"Why what-" I said as I took out my phone.

"Just give the goddamn thing to me Brooks!" Reece hissed at me and made to grab at the phone.

But I held it back. Looking at Reece act this way, I checked my notifications and scrolled through Facebook. Turns out I should have listened to Reece.

"Oh my god! Look at her acting like this sissy baby." - Auna Larington 12:00 a.m.

"Serves the bitch right." - Evy Merryweather 12:02 a.m.

"Looks like you made her famous @evenm.weathers 100 likes already?" Aaron Stronghold 12:07 a.m.

"The look on her face as she ran out tho. Lmao." - Hellen Matheus 12:11 a.m.

And many other such comments followed.

It was a video of me running out of the party as I was showered with beer cans and cups, crying. The tears were pretty evident. Evan Merryweather made sure to capture that. It was not just that, videos of the entire thing had also been uploaded. Turns out I was viral.

All I could do is stare at the words, while I felt the edges of my eyes prick. But I refused to cry again. Sitting with someone who was also an "Elite". When I met him on the bridge, I had somehow forgotten that Reece Grey was an "Elite" too. The way he talked, seemed to care, I thought it might be true. How foolish can I be.

I got up and turned the chair in, but Reece caught my wrist.

"Shit, Wisteria I seriously don't know what to say. But what I do know-" He started.

"Save it Grey. Save it for some other day. Some other girl who would fall into your charms more easily than me." I said looking at him.

Brown met green.

He closed his eyes,"I know whatever I say right now will seem a lie, but you have to trust me Wisteria, I am not an Elite." He said, bringing me closer to him.

"oh, but you are and everything you did or said was a lie. Tell me how much of a bet was it?" I asked.

"What!"

"You know the 'how to get the crazy in three days' scheme." I told him heading towards the counter to pay the Gothic Girl.

"It's nothing like that. I was not even at the party for god's sake!" Reece defended, following me.

I let out a sarcastic laugh and went out into the cold night air.

"Wisteria I am sorry for whatever you have been through but-"

"Listen Grey, we two," I said pointing at the gap between us, "donot belong anywhere near. So please stay away." With that I went away.

The sound of my my heels filled the air.

But all I knew was-

He didn't follow.
