Room

It hurled her to the ground, wrapping itself around her and tightening, ensuring she couldn't escape.

Raven felt herself free fall, away from the rest of the team. Why was this X pushing her back so far?

Her emotions swam with no control, making it so she couldn't use her powers. Raven felt the ground coming, closing her eyes tightly to try to forget about it.

Surprisingly, the thud wasn't as harmful as she had thought. She had landed at the park, a few blocks away, in the pond. Soaked, Raven got up, coughing up water and wriggling her way out of the squeezing red x.

She crawled onto the grass, wringing out her cloak. She scowled, the pond water itching her gauze. Her wrists were covered by her leotard and gloves, but she wanted so badly to pull them off.

Raven began to make her way back to the Tower, not even wanting to continue the fight. She knew Robin would be on his way, and she didn't want to talk to him.

He made her feel. That was something she hated. She wanted to sit in her room and never come out. She wanted to hurt her body. She needed to.

Raven found herself  shaking, trying to believe it was the cold, but she knew better. She jumped as her communicator began to buzz, but didn't bother answering.

Raven swished her hand, creating a black portal that led to her sanctuary. She stepped through it, noticing how cold it was.

She walked over to the heater, flicking a switch. She was instantly overwhelmed with heat. Her eyes traveled to her nightstand, where a small, black handled blade sat.

She bit her lip as she looked at it, feeling herself cave in. But if she did, he would find out and watch her constantly.

She had to be clever, secretive. Drag the blade across a part of her body no one was ever exposed to.

Raven walked to the door, typing in the lock. She would stop if she felt or heard him. That way he wouldn't be able to walk in and stop her himself.

She sighed, settling herself on her bed. She looked out of her window, the moon shining against the black of night.

She swallowed the lump in her throat, grabbing the blade. It felt right in her hand.

She sighed, setting it next to her while she went to her closet. She pulled out a purple sweater and black sweatpants. She stripped herself of her uniform, tossing it into her hamper.

After she put her night clothes on, Raven situated herself at the edge of her bed. She gripped the blade in her right hand, lifting her sweater up to the bottom of her bra.

She positioned the blade over her abdomen, right above her belly button. No one would ever see this much of her, it would be okay.

She let the knife slide against her ashen skin, leaving a small, red, bleeding line. It stung at first, but inside, it felt good. She made another cut above the last one, this one slightly deeper and longer.

She smiled at the pain, enjoying the feeling. She needed this. It was her version of therapy. Raven knew she was messed up, but she didn't care.

Al she wanted to do was lock herself in her room and bask in the pain. It felt too good to leave. To stop.

She was ready to make the third and final cut when someone knocked on her door.

Raven jolted, the blade slipping and digging into her skin, making a deep, accidental slit. It started to bleed, dripping onto her hand.

The knife dropped out of her hand as a wave of pain washed over her, threatening to make her scream out.

Raven touched the long, thick wound, hissing as her finger made contact. This pain was too much. Especially because it wasn't on purpose.

Her hand was quickly engulfed in a dark crimson. She pulled it away, her body shaking violently.

She cussed under her breath, eyes widening. She couldn't answer the door like this. Bleeding everywhere.

"Raven, can I come in?"

Damn.

How had she not felt his aura? His emotions? She stood up, speaking into the air, keeping the pain from leaking into her voice.

"In a second, Robin."

The empath made her way to her bathroom quickly, turning the faucet on and cleaning her stomach. She threw the blade underneath the sink, quickly pulling the first aid kit out with shaky hands.

"Is everything ok in there?"

She dropped the gauze on the floor, clenching her teeth as she reached down for it.

"Yes. I dropped my toothpaste. I'm trying to get ready for the night, so stop talking."

She replied in a clipped tone, pulling off her soiled sweater.

Raven placed the gauze on the deep cut, taping it up quickly. She pushed the kit into the medicine cabinet, tossing her sweater in the bottom of her hamper.

She finally felt his emotions as she pulled open the door to her closet. His curiosity and confusion peaked as she shut the closet.

For the second time that night, she put on a sweater, this one fuzzy and dark gray.

She looked around her room, noticing the blood on her blanket. She stripped it off the bed, throwing it into the closet and grabbing her spare, laying it on her bed.

Finally, she opened the metal door, it's hissing bothering her hears. She looked at the person outside her room, her face expressionless.

He raised a brow under his mask, initiating conversation.

"You get ready faster than Starfire, at least."

She shifted her weight, a very subtle movement that would go unnoticeable to everyone else but Robin.

"What do you want, Robin?"

She didn't want him here long, her wound could bleed through in mere minutes.

He sighed, crossing his arms over his chest, taking on his leader position.

"I was just checking on you to make sure you were okay after earlier."

He cared. He wanted her to be okay. She felt her barriers begin to crumble.

She softened, letting her voice hold a little bit of gratitude.

"I'm fine, thanks."

He nodded, bringing up a question.

"You didn't answer your communicator today. Why?"

"I had to go find it after I was thrown across the city."

He studied her, detecting her lie, but deciding to let it be. He looked down, noticing something red on her fingers.

"Rae?"

She sensed his concern, following his gaze, her face paling as she recognized the blood.

The blanket. Great. She had to answer, fast, or he would become pushy. She had to lie, to throw him off.

"It's nothing serious. I'm okay."

She watched him tense up as she wiped her hand on her pants.

"Did he hurt you today?"

She didn't want to lie to him anymore, she didn't want him to catch in to her fibs. Raven decided to be vague.

"No, it was my fault."

His expression was unreadable underneath the mask, but his voice gave his fear away.

"How?"

She swallowed, looking behind him for a second before returning her gaze on him.

"It was an accident."

"Are you sure?"

He had her. She was going to have to tell him. She crumbled, slouching slightly and averting her gaze, the word barely able to leave her lips.

"No..."

She looked down, not daring to glance up at him. She could already feel his sadness.

She could barely see his hand lift up to touch her, but she wouldn't allow it. Before he could tell her anything, Raven teleported.

She teleported to the edge of the island, running. Away from the Tower, away from Robin.

She held her stomach as she did so, feeling blood begin to seep through the sweater. Her violet hair was wild, her eyes wide and filled with fear as she ran.

People stared, confused as to why a girl was running so fast in the middle of the night. Someone pointed, someone shrugged, someone laughed. But Raven ignored them, refusing to let them bother her.

She passed the bank, the museum, markets, the mall. She didn't stop until she was panting, ready to pass out.

She found herself on a corner by the bakery, no one nearby. Her heart raced as she tried to suck in air.

Raven coughed, realizing how cold it was, longing for her cloak. She couldn't go back for it. The others were probably gathered in her room, looking for clues as to where she might run.

But Raven wasn't stupid. She was going to a place where no one would ever think to look.

She had to keep going, only take a break when absolutely necessary. He would be coming, on his bike, all around the city.

She started running again, too drained of energy to teleport anymore. It would take her a while to reach her destination. And she had to stay out of sight.

She could do this. She could run away. Away. From his gaze.
