Chapter 1

Mi Na's Outfit: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=218301808

I sighed as I pulled my sketchbook onto my lap and perched on the coffee shop counter. It was a Sunday afternoon, and after working here for the past three years, I knew that it would never get that busy.

Time flew by as I sipped every now and again at the cup of tea beside me on the wood counter, slowly cooling down. I got lost in the sketches I was creating, a ball gown that I intended to wear to my University graduation.

The only problem was getting to university in the first place. Tuition was unfathomably expensive and the only family member I had left was my elderly grandmother, who could barely take care of herself anymore, she was so frail. So at least for a while, university in Seoul was off the cards.

I didn't realise how late it was until I noticed the light outside dimming, when the doorbell chimed to signal a customer had came in. The sound knocked me off my reverie, and starteldly, I fell from my perch on the counter, looking up as the two customers began to hover over me.

"Long time, no see, Minnie," A familiar voice said and I looked up to the stranger who spoke, shock apparent on my face. There stood my childhood best friend, Jungkook, and his fellow band member I had seen him with in so many interviews, Jimin.

"Ehm, you didn't tell me you were back," I awkwardly said as I got up, looking between each of the boys. Despite him being part of the group for nearly four years now, this was the first time I was meeting any of his fellow band members.

"We're just here for a couple of weeks before we need to go back to Seoul for tour training," Jungkook explained and I nodded, resting my sketchbook on the counter as I walked round behind it to the coffee machines and teapots.

"What can I get you's?" I asked with a smile as I fired up the machines, turning to the boys once more. Jungkook asked for a hot chocolate, whilst Jimin stayed quiet, looking at anywhere apart from me.

"He'll have a tea," Jungkook answered for him, giving him an almost incredulous look. I nodded, turning my back to them to get cracking with the drinks, making myself a fresh cup of tea in the process.

"So, have you got any plans while you're here?" I asked in curiosity, and to my surprise, it was Jimin who answered.

"Just hanging out with family and maybe going to the beach," He said quietly and I nodded, briefly looking over my shoulder to smile at them. I eventually finished the drinks, leaving mine on the counter and carrying the boy's ones over on a tray. I placed each of their drinks down before making my way back over to the counter, perching on it like I had before they arrived.

"When do you get off?" Jungkook asked and I looked down at the watch that adorned my wrist, an eighteenth birthday present from him and one of my most prized possessions.

"Not for another hour," I sighed in resignation, my head falling back until I was staring at the ceiling. I could feel the boys' eyes on me so I self-conciously looked back down to them, resting my head on my own shoulder.

"We'll wait and walk you home, it's too dark," Jungkook nodded simply and I was about to protest when he stopped me. "You literally live round the corner from me Minnie, so it's not going to be an issue," he smiled as Jimin let out a light chuckle.

I scowled at the pair, hopping off the counter as I noticed a different customer begin to open the door, quickly straightening out my skirt and walking behind the counter once more. It didnt take long for me to serve the customer, who took their drink to go, leaving me with the two boys once more.

"What's in this?" I hadn't even noticed that Jimin had stood up and had my sketchbook in his hands, too preoccupied with cleaning the machines.

"Hyung don't, she'll go mental," Jungkook let out the familiar chuckle that I had missed, and I turned around, seeing Jimin flick through the book slowly. I quickly lunged, snatching it from his hands and holding it defensively against my chest.

"For my eyes and my eyes only," I simply said, turning my back to the boys once more and getting back to cleaning the machines. We made quiet small talk for the remaining 43 minutes and 27 seconds until it was time for me to lock up the cafe.

I went around the small building, turning off machines and making sure to lock all the windows before grabbing my coat and the bag that I carried my sketchbook in. I turned to the boys as we all walked out of the cafe, myself locking the front door before we began the short walk to my house.

"We're going on a picnic with our families tomorrow if you wanted to come. Bring Nana Geum with you," Jungkook smiled as we turned onto the corner that split from my house and the road that led to Jungkook's.

"That sounds really fun, and I'll see how Nana is feeling tomorrow," I smiled, lightly bowing to the two boys as I opened my garden gate and hopped up the path to the front door, desperate to get in from the cold. I waved the boys off as they turned round the corner, and I stepped inside, taking offmy shoes and slipping on my slippers and making my way through to the living room.

"How was your day?" My gran smiled as I walked into the room, setting down my bag and pulling her in for a small hug. Once I pulled away, I wrapped the shawl on her shoulders closer to her, not wanting her to get a chill.

"Good, Jungkook must be on a break, because he came in with one of his group members," I sighed as I stood up to begin making dinner in the adjoining kitchenette. It was a small house we lived in, but it was perfect for the two of us.

"How is little sugar kookie?" I smiled at the use of the nickname my gran had been using for Jungkook since she first met him when we were only 5 years old.

"Good, He invited us on a picnic with the Jeon's and his group member's family," I told her, sitting down next to her once more and taking one of her hands in my own, rubbing small circles in the back of her palms.

"You'll have to make one of my sweet rice cakes then, dear. You know where the recipe is," She smiled and I nodded, walking back over to the kitchenette and scouring the shelf of cookbooks until I found the book I needed.

"I'll get to it while you have dinner," I assured her as I plated up some rice and crispy chicken, one of her favourites. I set my own small meal aside, deciding it could wait until I finished the cake, which required the majority of my attention. I switched on the small radio, keeping it to the classic station that grandma loved.

Two hours later and I had made sure gran was in her bed, resting for tomorrow. I was icing the cake with a simple vanilla icing, adding a few rose-coloured swirls here and there. It was my first time meeting Jimin's family, and I always loved to leave a good first impression, even if it was just a friend's family.

"There," I sighed to myself as I finished of the icing, placing the cake in a cake case as I gently yawned, stretching out my limbs before walking through to my bedroom, just barely changing into my pyjamas before letting my head fall on the pillow, sleep immediately taking over.
