Chapter 9
WARNING: This chapter contains strong language and violence. Please be advised that this chapter may be upsetting to some readers.
Turquoise's POV:
I rushed to class as soon as the bell rang. This time, I had one of my favourite subjects which was english. Oh, I used to love reading classics literature by some of my all time favourite authors like Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, you name it! I am so obsessed with Pride and Prejudice and Oliver Twist! They have been sitting on top of my all time favourite classics list - with Pride and Prejudice being on 1st place and Oliver Twist just a small step behind and landing 2nd on my list. Sorry, Oliver. Love more romance than historical fiction! Hahahaha! I was walking to english class when suddenly, I bumped straight into a boy and I dropped all of my books! Luckily they were still in good condition! Phew! Otherwise, I would have no clue what I would do. "Will you watch it, dude?" I shouted madly at the boy who was smirking on the inside. I then knelt down to pick up my books. When I finished picking them all up, I stared up at the boy and glared at him.
Adam's POV:
I was staring at this mad girl with my own eyes. What a waste of time! Why on earth is she even blocking my way to english class? I finally decided to get her attention. "Hello. My name's Adam," I replied to the girl politely. "And I am Turquoise. Now get out of my way!" the girl growled at me, followed by a push and then, she immediately ran away! She ran like Sonic! OMG!!! I was so intrigued and interested in this turn of events. Perhaps she's good at PE? Hmm. I immediately turned and started dashing straight to english class.
Turquoise's POV:
When I arrived to english class, I sat down on a random desk, ready to read another great book! I have been obsessed with books lately! I am a hungry for more bookworm! I loved reading books since I was a little girl. And now, these memories come back to me. I smiled as I opened my book I am currently reading right now called Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. She is one of my favourite authors who is currently still alive right now. Facts. You should search her up on Google. She's so amazing! I opened the book and turned to page 110. We had twenty minutes of silent reading time when we came in. In case you don't know what the book is about, you are in luck because I have the blurb coming right for you! Buy the book while you can! Enjoy!
Ninth House By Leigh Bardugo
Galaxy "Alex" Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale's freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she's thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world's most elite universities on a full ride. What's the catch, and why her?
Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale's secret societies. These eight windowless "tombs" are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywood's biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.
Adam's POV:
When I came into english class today, I couldn't read a single word. Instead, I just stared dreamily at this happy girl who was indeed reading Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. I then took out my book that I was currently reading called Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas who was one of my favourite authors of all time! It recently got released as a debut adult fantasy novel. I turned to page 345 of my Waterstones hardcover copy which has beautiful red edges! If you don't know what I'm talking about, I have a blurb right here for you, my dear reader! Enjoy, hopefully!
Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas
Bound by blood.
Tempted by desire.
Unleashed by destiny.
Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She'll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.
Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss's enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he's offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City's underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they'd only let it.
Turquoise's POV:
Soon, when it was time to put our books away, I have stopped reading at page 119 of my Ninth House copy.
Adam's POV:
I put down my HUGE and MASSIVE sized copy of Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood which in fact, I was up to page 354. Woohoo! Less reading done, I guess. Why me? I still need to prepare for my May TBR (to be read) coming soon. Ahh! Struggles.
Turquoise's POV:
SH*T! SH*T! SH*T! SH*T!!! WHAT THE DEVIL?!! WHY IS SOMEBODY CALLING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS?!! OMG!!! I DON'T KNOW THIS PERSON. I am speechless. I'm a total wreck. WHY ME?!! I smacked myself on the table like I was a mad teacher having a meltdown or something. I couldn't take this anymore.
