Episode 8: Falling and out of Love, Literally
(And of course, shipping episodes! Look, I love having the plot continue, but shipping is so cute and done well if it is planned properly. -Glares at a certain Ladybug show-. Ahem! Anyway, I do hope I show both sides of falling in love and out of love too. Enjoy!)
Randy was once again running late to work. Howard had already left after waiting for ten minutes, so Randy just had to run by himself. He sighed as he hoped that Director Buford will not be too upset with him for being late. He rushed into the building and made his way to the office. He took out his tablet and began to work as he noticed Howard wasn't here. He shrugged and went back to work until someone pulled up a chair and sat next to him.
"Wow Randy, these look even better" Theresa said warmly as she looked at his animations.
"Ah! Theresa! Wait, really? Thanks! I've spent so many nights trying to make sure it looks good" he answered with a light blush and relaxing tone, "I should have the fourth episode ready to go soon! I can't wait to see how everyone reacts to it. Some of my friends even want to watch it"
"Really? We should do a show night!" she suggested as he grinned.
"That sounds juice!" he answered as she laughed.
He continued to work until he realized something. He never really understood what her job is here. He was about to ask her until Julian approached them. Randy waved to Julian as Julian held a fake smile to him.
"Ah, there you are Theresa. We should get back to work" he said as he grabbed Theresa's hand and pulled her away.
"Oh, already? Alright. See you, Randy" she said disappointed but held a smile and waved goodbye.
Randy waved goodbye too as he sighed in a dreamy manner and noticed that she still smelled like rainbows. Howard pulled up his chair and noticed his best friend's expression. He then pushed Randy as he fell off his chair and groaned in pain.
"Why?" he asked as he didn't bother to get up and waited for a moment.
"Couldn't help it. Also, stop missing our meetings! I can't keep covering for you and making excuses!" Howard pointed out as he looked down at his friend, "And you also keep looking at Fowler! Seriously, do you even know who she is and what you are doing?"
"I'm sorry, but we are searching for the seal. We have to find it. Also, I actually just met her. She works here, and I've got a plan. Okasaan always said to be yourself which I am! I think she likes me!" Randy answered warmly as he sat back on his chair.
"I hope you find that stupid seal soon" Howard grumbled until he realized the other half of Randy's sentence, "Wait, you really don't know who she is?!"
"Uh, she's Theresa Fowler. Actually, now that I think about it, what is her job here? I know she helps with reporting and even helps me with my art. I just don't know what she does at her job" Randy answered as he tapped his head with his finger.
Howard blinked and held a disappointed expression as he was tempted to tell his best friend who she really was but decided it would be funny if he experienced it himself.
"Fascinating" Star whispered as she was reading the book in the library while taking notes about it, "Whoever wrote this book really knew what they were doing"
She flipped the pages as she read some of the notes based on previous adventures and mythical creatures. She turned another page as she found something interesting. The source of all darkness in the seal.
"Now, we are talking" she said as she read the title and was ready to do more research until someone placed her favorite smoothie on her table along with a plate of her favorite plate of cookies, "Huh?"
She looked up and grinned at her boyfriend. She closed the book and put it in a drawer as she took the smoothie. She waved her hand as he laughed at her cheerful expression.
"Sorry about being stuck at work" he said as he pulled up a chair to sit with her, "But it has been busy. How about you?"
"Busy too" Star answered as she broke a cookie in half to give Tom one to eat, "They are having me research all kinds of crazy myths and history stuff ever since the heroes and heroines were facing those villains"
Tom ignored her comment and then noticed her notes. He picked up one and read it.
"Are you looking for a seal?" he asked as he raised a brow at the note.
Star nearly choked on her drink and looked at her notes. She forgot to put it away along with the book. She has to play it cool and not freak out about it.
"Janna wanted me to look into it" Star answered, "She wanted to put on some kind of celebration and thought finding a seal would be the best idea! Why?"
Now, it was Tom's turn to not freak out about why he needed to find the seal. He couldn't say he was planning to unleash a god like being of chaos into their world, so that he could get his desire granted. No, he needs another explanation and fast!
"Oh, it seemed interesting. I wasn't sure if you would want to investigate places like this. They usually have too much meaning" Tom answered as he shrugged and placed it back on the desk.
The two of them laughed as Tom also made a mental note to visit Janna and ask her about the seal. He noticed it was dusty and dark in the library and got an idea.
"Hey, let's step out for a bit. I know we still have our date later, but I think it would be fun to have some fresh air, right?" he asked as he stood up and held his hand out to her.
"Yeah! Sounds great! I need to stretch my legs anyway! Come on!" she answered excitedly as she took his hand and ran out of the library.
He laughed as he let his girlfriend drag him around their city. Star was happy to be able to spend some time with her boyfriend. Although she and her friends needed to find the seal, she did feel bad for not being able to spend some time with him. Then again, she couldn't tell him that she was a heroine. She is not entirely sure how he would take it.
"Hey, Star, are you ok?" Tom asked with worry as he noticed she was lost in her thoughts.
"Oh, yeah. Sorry" she said as she waved her hand to reassure him.
She then took his hand walked along the street. They were happily enjoying their company together. They continued to walk down the street while Star continued to chat about her research and times with her new friends that she would like her boyfriend to meet. As for Tom, he was looking at her and noticed she was happily chatting about them more than he thought.
"Hey, Star, your friends sound nice" Tom said as he shook his head at her, "But, do you want to talk about something else?"
It wasn't that he wasn't happy she was talking about something she enjoyed. He was worried that she didn't want to talk about themselves and their relationship. He was worried he was losing her.
"Oh, ok. So, what would you like to talk about?" she asked a little sad but content.
She knew he was working hard and probably wanted to do something that relaxes him than her.
"How about us? So, are you ready tonight's date?" he asked with a grin.
"Oh, yeah!" she answered surprised, "But we are just having dinner, right? Unless you have more planned for us! I am ready for anything!"
She grinned brightly as Tom's smile faltered. He knew she was probably trying to plan for herself, but he was worried she was going to plan something afterwards. An event more fun than the date he planned.
"No, just dinner, but if you want to do something afterward, I am up for anything as long as it is just us" he answered as he tried to not change the happiness in his voice.
"I'll let you know!" she answered brightly as he felt some relief.
By luck, Marco was ordering a takeout from Nosh Olé Café and happened to see the couple who were walking right pass it.
"Hey! Nice to see you!" he greeted warmly while holding his lunch, "How is the lovely couple on this fine day?"
He took a playful bow as Star laughed at his teasing. Tom faked a laugh and sighed internally.
"Lunch break?" Star asked in a knowing tone.
"Yeah. I've got a break in between classes. It is a slow day too" he said with a stretch, "Oh, are you two on a date?"
"Something like that" Tom answered before Star could and even pulled her to his side.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I shall leave you two alone then. See ya!" he said warmly before leaving them.
Star was a little sad to see her best friend go, but she was worried about her boyfriend's behavior. He seemed a little protective and hostile. He felt his phone buzz and then took it out. He read the text to see that he was needed at work.
"Ah, I'm sorry. I have to go" he said with sadness in his voice, "Please enjoy the rest of your day and see you at our date"
He gave her hand a kiss, waved goodbye, and left. Star stood still and sighed. She knew something was bothering him, but she wasn't sure what she could do. Sighing, she decided to head back to the library, but she would soon have something to do rather soon.
Julian was very annoyed that Randy was casually speaking with his good friend, but he also wanted to spring his trap on the heroes and heroines.
"Theresa, we did agree on capturing them. Please do be serious" Julian reminded her as he turned to see her dreamy expression, "Theresa?"
"Oh! Sorry, Julian" she said as she shook her head and grinned, "I was just having some fun. It is nice to talk with him!"
"Really? How come?" he asked with worry in his voice that she didn't pick up on.
"Well, he's easy to talk to. He helps others when he can, and he's funny, sweet, and kind" Theresa answered as a blush appeared on her face while she twirled her hair, "But I am ready to help you, Julian"
She held his hand and grinned as Julian felt some relief. He did glance to Randy, but Theresa did care about him. Julian would deal with Randy later as he checked to make sure no one else was watching them and snapped his fingers to transform. He held his hand out to her as she agreed.
"Now, let's cause some chaos" he said in delight as he cracked lightning in his hand to cast it to the lights to control the electricity in the building.
Meanwhile, Randy was finishing another animation as Howard dragged Debbi to them and explained to her that Randy had no idea who Theresa was.
"You seriously don't know who she is?" Debbi asked in utter disbelief as she noticed Randy was adding more details to his animations.
"She's a cute, smart, strong lady? Why are you both making a big deal out of this?" he asked as he glanced at them suspiciously.
Debbi blinked as she glanced to Howard who shrugged.
"You seriously don't know?" Debbi asked again as Randy stopped his work and turned to them.
"I don't know her whole life story, yes. I just met her and don't fully understand her job, yes. Why are you making a big deal out of this?! I do find her to be nice, pretty, strong, and smart. She even smells like rainbows! Just give me some time to know her!" he answered them who were both still surprised.
Randy was confused about this as Debbi rolled her eyes at him.
"Why don't I just get Theresa to tell you herself? Anyway, it is not like it is bad. It is surprising, but she likes the Ninja, so who even cares" Debbi said as Randy's eyes were wide.
He grinned to Howard who shook his head. Before Debbi could text Theresa, the lights went out as someone screamed. Randy reacted first and reached for his bracelet, but he realized Debbi was with them! He couldn't use his powers, so he took out his phone and turned on the flashlight.
"Howard? Debbi? Are you both ok?" Randy asked as he flashed his phone to see Debbi holding Howard's arm?!
Randy blinked at the site while Howard grinned at him. Randy was not sure what to think of this, but he should worry about that later. He was grateful to see his best friend and Debbi safe. As for the scream, that voice did sound familiar to him.
"We should get out of here" Randy said as he packed up his belongings and motioned them to follow him.
The three of them slowly made their way to the stairs. Debbi decided to call Theresa and Julian to find out where they were. Howard and Randy were away from her as Randy wondered about this blackout.
"Do you think it is your enemies?" Howard whispered as he glanced at Randy.
"I am not sure, but you need to keep Debbi busy. I'll ninja out and do what I can" Randy whispered as Howard agreed.
Randy quietly walked away from them and tapped his bracelet to transform. He walked around the building and lit his hand on fire to search for anything out of the ordinary or anyone. So far, he didn't find either, but he had a funny feeling about this. He took out his phone and decided to contact any of his teammates. Luckily, Star answered and was able to reach the studio. She saw the studio covered in darkness and nodded to herself. She texted back, transformed, and went into the building.
"Hello!" she shouted, "Is anyone here?"
People rushed to her and were relived to be saved by a heroine. Witch reassured everyone that she and the Ninja would handle everything. She took a step back, held her wand, and created powerful stream of lightning to power up the entrance and lobby.
"Ok, everyone, please vacate the building and stay together!" she ordered as she gestured to the doors.
The people fled as she marched deeper in the building to find the Ninja and the source of the blackout.
"Ninja?!" she called out as she climbed up the steps and found no one.
She sighed as she continued her search. Though, she wondered why someone would want to attack an animation and news studio. There's nothing here worth searching for.
Ninja continued to quietly walk through the building until he heard someone shout, "Leave me alone!"
He ran towards the voice as he threw a small ball of fire in front of himself to light up a path. He continued to run until he ran into someone. He fell forward and held himself up as he groaned in pain. Someone was underneath him, but he smelled a familiar scent of rainbows. Rainbows?
"Ah!" he exclaimed as he opened his eyes and found Theresa underneath him, "Theresa! Are you ok? What are you doing?"
He quickly pulled himself off her and helped her to her feet. He was grateful it was dark because he was sure he was blushing madly. As for Theresa, she did feel bad about tricking him, but she did promise to help Julian.
"I was meeting with my best friend when the lights went out. Suddenly, I heard a crackle and ran. It was dark, so I continued to run until I find an exit or a light source. Did you come to save us, Ninja?" she asked in a pleading tone.
"Yes, I am!" he replied in his heroic voice.
"Oh, thank you, Ninja!" she said in relief as she smiled at him.
"I don't see your friend here. We should probably look for him" Ninja said as he held his hand and only found her starring at it.
She was surprised. Even though she is trying to trick him, he still wanted to help and relieve her of her worries. She smiled softly and wondered if there was a way to help her friend.
"If you want, you can hold my hand as I take the lead" Ninja explained as gently as he could, "If you want. You can hold my scarf if that makes you feel safe. Whatever makes you comfortable"
She blushed at his kindness and held his hand. His hand felt safe. He held his other hand to make sure the fire wasn't near either of them. He was also trying to hide his blushing face. They walked together in silence until the lights began to flicker.
"That can't be good" Ninja whispered as his grip tightened on her hand.
The lights turned on brightly. Theresa closed her eyes as Ninja put his hand out and held it above his eyes. He tried to see the area and make sense of the situation. He saw something dark coming towards them! He reacted first by pushing Theresa to a wall as he prepared to take a blow. It was lightning!
"Yah!" Ninja shouted in pain as he felt lightning zapping him.
Yet, the lightning felt familiar to him.
"Ahaha! Oh, look who it is! An annoying Ninja" Wizard crackled as he released his lightning hold on him.
Ninja fell to his knees as the light in the room returned to normal. He really needed a better plan for fighting someone with lightning powers. Speaking of lightning, he knew Witch was somewhere in the building. So, he just has to hold on until she finds them. That shouldn't be too hard.
"Ninja!" Theresa shouted with worry as she looked at his injured state.
"No need to worry, I will be ok" he reassured her as he picked himself up and held up his fists, "I will protect you and everyone here. I will make sure you get back to your friends safely! That is the duty of the hero!"
Theresa was blushing at him as Ninja front flipped and then punched the Wizard in his stomach! The Wizard reached for his stomach, but Ninja swiftly jumped and kicked him into a wall! The Wizard crashed into it as Theresa gasped with worry. The Wizard didn't have time to recover as the Ninja swiftly poked his stomach to render the Wizard unconscious! She couldn't let her friend get hurt anymore. She was ready to rush in and stop the Ninja as he raised his scarf, but he did something else. He used his scarf to simply tie up the Wizard!
"Phew, that should be it" Ninja said with a sigh, "You'll have a headache, but that should be it. Now, please rest and let me take care of everything"
He then picked up the Wizard to carry him as he turned to Theresa.
"Don't worry, he won't hurt you, and he's probably fine" Ninja reassured warmly, "So, let's look for your friend next"
Theresa was surprised at his kindness to her friend who wanted to destroy him. He was so kind to them....
"Are you ok?" Ninja asked as he glanced at her.
"Oh! I am fine! Thank you" she replied quickly as he grinned at her.
"That's a relief. I should have a friend in here who can help us restore the power back to the building. After that, I promise, we will find your friend" Ninja reassured her with a calm nod as she smiled in relief.
He then adjusted his scarf, so she could hold onto it. They walked forward as Witch was climbing up the stairs and lighting up everything in the building. She just needs to find the Ninja, and everything should be fine, she thinks.
"Hey! Ninja! Where are you?!" Witch shouted as loud as she could.
Ninja stopped walking as he faintly heard his hero's name being called. Theresa bumped into him as he whispered an apology to her.
"Is something wrong?" Theresa asked with concern as Ninja stopped and listened carefully to his surroundings.
He was sure he heard someone calling to him. He closed his eyes and listened closely to the voice. The voice was familiar to him and loud. Ah! It was the Witch!
"Theresa are you ok?" he asked excitedly.
She nodded her head as he gave her his scarf.
"Good, because we just found my friend! Let's go!" he said in relief as they ran to the source of the voice.
The two of them continued to run to the voice until it grew louder, and Ninja stopped in front of the Witch!
"Witch!" he said in relief as the area lit up around them!
"Ninja!" she replied in delight as she rushed to embrace him, but she stopped when she saw the unconscious Wizard in his arms, "Whoa, you've been busy"
She glanced to see Theresa and waved to her as Ninja nodded his head, "Yeah, I've been busy. Anyway, we need to restore the power. Can you restore it with your lighting?"
"I should be able to" Witch said with a shrug, "I mean, I've never tried, so I don't know if it can work, but anything is worth it!"
"Well, we just need the generator! But I don't know where it is..." Ninja confessed as Witch shook her head at him.
"If you want, I can take you there" Theresa said nervously as she looked at them, "Julian often works near the generator room since it is near the animation room"
Ninja and Witch nodded as they followed Theresa to the generator room. Witch and Ninja felt out of their league and wished for Phantom to be with them. He would know how to use a generator. It was a single room on the third floor, but the machine was complicated to them. It was big and had colorful wires flowing into the walls to the rest of the building to give it power. Witch noticed some lightning sparking off Wizard and wondered something.
"Hey, Ninja, I have an idea, but this isn't the smartest idea" she said as he turned to her, "But if the Wizard was the one who took the electricity from this place, then maybe I can put it back. Of course, I'll need to hold him, and we have no idea how this will go either. Please protect this lady with cool hair as I try something my dangerous idea!"
"Uh, excuse me" Theresa said as she stepped between them with a nervous expression, "But will this hurt the Wizard? I know he's done terrible things to you two and your friends as well as innocent people, but he doesn't deserve to be hurt either"
Ninja and Witch were surprised at her concern as Witch reassured with a smile, "Don't worry, I will make sure he's not hurt. You stay safe with the Ninja"
Witch turned to him to see a blush on his cheeks. Witch smirked a bit as she then took the Wizard from his hands and gently pushed Theresa to him. He glared at Witch who simply held a smile.
"Everything's under control!" she reassured them as Ninja shook his head, did his best to compose himself, and then walk out of the generator room with Theresa behind him.
He would get Witch back for that, but for now, he should watch out for Theresa. As for Witch, she was right. She did feel a huge amount of electricity flowing throughout the Wizard's body. She slowly calmed herself as she held him close and slowly took the electricity from him. She could feel herself being supercharged as lightning sparked from her. She gently placed Wizard on the ground and then walked towards the generator.
"Ok, so do not explode on me please" she whispered as she placed her hands against the giant, cold, mechanical device in the room.
She slowly released the electricity back into the generator. Slowly and surely, the whole building was lightning up! She was relieved as she saw everything turning on. She pulled her hands back and felt some of her electricity still flowing through her and turned to the Wizard. He was still unconscious and exhausted, but she knew he would recover soon enough. She dusted herself off, swung him over her shoulder, and matched out of the generator room.
As for the Ninja and Theresa, Ninja held her hand and was running away until he found a desk to hide under. He gently helped her sit down as he remained alert. Theresa looked up at him in awe as he looked back at the generator room.
"Do you think everything will be ok?" she asked worriedly as she realized she was the reason this happened.
She should've helped the Wizard think of another plan to capture them, but she couldn't stop him once he set his mind to something, more or less.
The Ninja noticed her concern expression, tilled his head from side to side, and answered with full confidence and a grin, "Of course, it will be ok. My friends and I will make sure of it too! We will do everything we can to make sure everyone is safe and happy!"
She stared at him in awe and realized that he was trying to do everything he could to help others. He wasn't an enemy at all. He was genuinely trying to be a nice, helpful hero. Suddenly, the power slowly came on as he cheered and raised his fist in the air. She looked around and noticed the building turning on again.
"See? I told you we could do it" he said as he held his hand out to her, "You just have to believe in us"
He helped her stand up as he grinned while Theresa gasped in awe. Witch found them and returned with the unconscious Wizard over her shoulder. Theresa was concerned but Ninja waved to them.
"Nice one!" he said as he raised his hand to share a high five with her, "And, we even caught a villain! This is an awesome day for us!"
Theresa was now worried. If they take the Wizard, she wouldn't be able to help her friend, and his identity would be exposed! As she tried to reason with them, Ninja sensed something warm coming towards them. He quickly dove to push himself, Witch, and Theresa to the ground to avoid an incoming ball of fire. Ninja then rushed to grab the ball of fire and extinguish it before it could catch anything else on fire.
"Phew" he whispered in relief as Witch let out a frustrated yell.
She held her wand and pulled Theresa behind to block a strike from Inferno and his claymore. Ninja rushed to help her, but Inferno picked up Wizard.
"This is goodbye" Inferno answered as he threw another ball of fire at Theresa.
Ninja quickly grabbed the ball of fire and let it burst in front of him! Theresa shouted with worry as Witch rushed to help him. He was able to make the ball of fire disappear, but he was a little burnt. He could feel his powers heal him slowly, but he was in pain.
"I'll be fine" he reassured her, "Are you ok?"
He looked at Witch and Theresa who were relieved to see him ok. He then noticed that Inferno and Wizard were gone. Well, they were close to capturing one of them. They would just have to try again later.
"Oh! Where is your friend? Did you hear or find him?" Ninja asked Theresa as Witch glanced between them.
Theresa gasped again as she realized that he was safe now. She knew she had to explain it to them somehow and pulled out her phone. She then rushed to her messages and found hers with Julian.
"He got out as soon as the power was restored!" she shouted in relief to reassure them, "Thank you so much, heroes and heroines!"
She bowed and then rushed out of the building in delight. Ninja sighed in relief as he watched her leave safely. As for Witch, she elbowed him with a knowing smile.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked as he eyed her suspicious behavior.
"You like her!" she whispered in delight as he blushed and turned away.
"No, no! I am just trying to understand her before asking her out!" he answered until he realized what he said and slammed his face in his hand.
She laughed at his expression and helped him stand up. They walked to a window, Ninja opened it, and she flew them out of the studio and back to his flat. Theresa watched them leave with a small smile on her face and silently thanked them for stopping her friend. Witch placed Ninja on the roof as they transformed back.
"Just don't tell anyone! Only Howard knows! I can't have Danny know for obvious reasons" Randy said to her serious as she nodded her head while giggling.
"Alright, I will not say anything to anyone. However, I get to help you!" she said as he groaned.
They entered the flat as he went to the fridge to have a drink of water. She sat on the couch and was thinking of something. Randy stood in front of her and noticed her thinking expression.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked as he took a sip from his drink.
She snapped her fingers and stood up as he sat down on the couch. She rushed to get something as he shrugged and checked his phone to make sure Howard was safe. He didn't hear from his friend and assumed he was fine. Star came back with the book in her hands.
"We are going to ask for help from our teachers!" she stated with pride as he choked on his water and spit it out!
"What the juice?! No! We are not doing this!" Randy exclaimed as he tried to take the book from the small girl.
However, she reacted quicker, stood at his side, held out the book, and opened it. They fell back and hit the couch. The book fell on the coffee table as they were falling into the book's world. They hit the ground with a thud. Star picked herself up and was about to call her mentor as Randy tackled her to the ground to stop her.
"Don't you dare!" he shouted as she punched him in the gut, "Ow! My guts! Why my guts?!"
Star picked herself up and shouted in delight, "Mentors! We need your help!"
Randy shouted in pain as their two mentors appeared before them. Yamato looked disappointed as he saw Randy on the ground while Jay faced Star.
"What kind of help do you need?" Jay asked unsure.
As Star was about to answer, Randy jumped on her and covered her mouth with his hand.
He held a nervous smile as he tried to explain, "We are fine! Completely fine! Nothing is wrong! Ignore her! Completely ignore her!"
Yamato and Jay glanced to each other unsure until Yamato stepped between them to pull the other apart. He dropped Star on her butt and roughly held Randy in a headlock.
"Ok, I know you did not come here without a reason. So, please, tell us what is happening" Yamato said seriously as Randy groaned and lowered his head in defeat.
He mumbled it a Yamato leaned in to hear him to ask seriously "I cannot hear you, speak up"
Star couldn't help it and exclaimed, "He has a crush on a cute coworker at his job! He needs help asking her out to a date! What better way to ask than here! The book is supposed to help us learn!"
She held a warm smile as the two mentors were staring at them disbelief. Yamato dropped Randy as Jay let out a laugh. He hugged his sides as he fell to his back. Randy groaned at them as he hid his face in his hands. Yamato sighed as he paced back and forth.
"Is he ok?" Star asked as she looked at their teachers.
"I don't know" Randy said in defeat as he wished he could be kicked out of the book.
Jay then composed himself after a while as he glanced to Yamato.
"He's fine. He's a lot like Randy. He wasn't good with talking to girls and flirting with them either. It is kind of a miracle that he even got a wife!" Jay teased as Yamato's face was flushed.
"And yours nearly became one with the ocean and married a genie! It took you years to propose to her as a yang!" Yamato snapped back as Randy was surprised while Star was excited, "Also, I am the First Ninja! I was trained since birth to defeat my enemies! I lost my brothers, my village was destroyed, and I did not have time for calligraphy! Of course, I didn't think I would have time to woo my wife and make a best friend!"
The two of them were going back and forth as Star and Randy just watched them. They didn't butt in and just let this happen. Randy was almost feeling grateful for this, almost. He slowly backed away from them and tried to find a way out of the book. Star noticed his behavior and jumped on him!
"You are not leaving!" she said as the two of them began to fight each other again.
Jay and Yamato turned to them and jumped to separate them again.
"Well, I guess it can't be help. We will help you talk to girls, Randy!" Jay said warmly, "Right, Yamato?"
Yamato glared at the blue ninja as he replied, "You maybe a ninja of sorts, but I am the first one. I expect the title of sensei from you as well"
Jay shrugged as he then let Star go. Yamato still held Randy until he created a red ribbon to tie up Randy. He then snapped his fingers to make a chair appear. Yamato placed Randy in it and then stood with Jay and Star.
"Ok, now start from the beginning. Why do you fancy her?" Yamato asked as Jay laughed at how he spoke, "I know of at least fifty ways to end your life. Be careful when you laugh"
Jay suddenly stopped as they faced Randy. Randy sighed as he tried to find a way out of this. Once he did realize he couldn't, he spoke.
"Here name is Theresa Fowler. She's athletic and works at the same place as I do" he explained as he sighed in a dreamy manner, "She is smart, kind, caring, and helpful. Not to mention, she smells like rainbows. Do you know what I mean?"
The three of them each held a different expression. Star sighed in a dreamy manner, Jay's jaw dropped in disbelief, and Yamato held a disturbed and concerned expression.
"Are you sure you want a girlfriend?" Jay asked unsure as Randy sighed in defeat.
Star elbowed Jay as Yamato composed himself and asked, "Alright, so what's the issue? Can you really not talk to her?"
"I can talk to her as the Ninja, but I am pretty sure dating her as the Ninja would be a bad idea, right?" Randy asked Yamato nodded his head in agreement.
"Ok, so you need to talk with her" Yamato said with a nod of his head, "Have you talked to her before?"
"Yes, and that's fine. The part I have trouble with is asking her out and talking romantic to her" Randy replied as Yamato simply nodded his head.
"Ok, you want to charm her. Jay, you were good at that right?" Yamato teased as Jay groaned.
"What happened?" Star asked curiously.
"I am not explaining my first date, but I will tell you both from what I have learned from it" Jay said as he facepalmed and shook his head, "Be yourself. If you really love someone, then you should be comfortable with being yourself. You should never be afraid of having to change yourself. If that person doesn't like you for you, then do not pursue that relationship. It will save you pain for later"
Yamato, Randy, and Star were surprised to hear this from Jay as he shrugged and rubbed the back of his head nervously. Randy's expression was in awe while Star's expression was reflective.
"That's actually pretty good advice" Randy said as he looked at the masters, "I will do just that!"
Star grinned at him as the masters were relieved to hear this.
"Then, is that all?" Yamato asked with a hint of nervousness.
"Yeah, that should be it" Randy said as he stood up and bowed to his sensei, "Thank you, sensei. I will use your advice and try my best!"
Yamato grinned at him and bowed.
Star turned to Jay and gave him a hug to say, "Thanks for the help, Jay"
"No problem. Now, good luck and do your best!" Jay encouraged as he hugged her back.
With that, the hero and heroine were taken out of the book and found themselves on the couch. Star then closed the book as she glanced to Randy who was looking at the ceiling and thinking to himself.
"Do you have a plan?" Star asked curiously.
"I believe I do" he answered as he snapped his fingers, "I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks for that Star!"
He held out his fist as he sat up next to her. She gave him a fist bump as he grinned and rushed to carry out his plan. As for Star, she checked her phone and nodded to herself. She placed Magical Instructions in the basement before leaving herself.
The next day, Randy and Star were both excited. Randy woke up early and prepared himself to ask Theresa out for a date while Star was getting ready for her date with Tom. Star was in her room as Janna was laying on her bed and reading something on her tablet. Star was looking for the best outfit to wear for the date, but she heard Jay's words echoing in her head.
"You ok?" Janna asked as she didn't bother to look up from the tablet.
"I think so. A lot of stuff is on my mind lately" Star answered as she looked at herself in the mirror.
"Wanna talk about it?" Janna asked as she turned off the tablet and sat up on the bed.
Star wasn't sure where to even begin with this. She wanted to go on this date with Tom, but she wasn't sure if she still wanted to be with him in a romantic sense. He's been acting strange to her lately. She explained this to Janna as she sat down next to her. Janna listened to her friend and noticed her concerns. Sure, couples fight or disagree, but if the behavior changed, then that is another issue all together.
Before she could give Star her input, the doors opened as Marco shouted in delight while carrying a plat of nachos, "Hello my girlfriends! I come with victory nachos because I was able to finally pay off the dojo!"
They turned to him, Janna with an annoyed expression while Star's was surprised. He noticed their expressions and composed himself.
"Uh, is this a bad time? I know you have your date, but you did text us to come before then, right?" Marco asked as he ate one nacho.
"No, and thanks for this! I need some!" Star reassured as she let him in and took the plat of nachos for herself.
Janna was worried about her friend, but Janna did notice how Star's expression changed when Marco entered the room. Janna hummed to herself and shrugged as she decided to join in on their fun for a bit before helping Star with her date. They finished the nachos as they chatted about a few things.
"Oh, hey! You should get ready" Marco said as he noticed the time on his phone, "Don't want to keep Mr. Banker! Text me later!"
He cleaned himself up as he waved goodbye. Star waved goodbye as she went to her closet, happier and relaxed. Janna helped her pick out a pink dress and did her hair. Her pink dress went up to her knees as she wore long, white socks. She has sliver slippers and a silver tiara on her head. Her blonde hair was tied up as she picked out the white gloves.
"What do you think?!" Star asked excitedly.
"Not bad. Too much white, but not bad. Knock him dead, girl" Janna said as she patted her back and looked at her phone, "Ah, I've got another boring meeting to attend to. You are so lucky right now. Well, let's go"
The two of them walked out of the room and departed from the entrance. Star walked to the restaurant and waited outside it for Tom as Janna went to her office.
"Ok, I've got this!" Randy exclaimed in a meeting room with himself, Howard, and Debbi, "I am finally going to ask her out!"
Debbi held a deadpanned expression while Howard asked, "So, what is the plan?"
"Just to ask her" Randy answered simply as Howard face palmed while Debbi raised a brow at him.
"That's it? Why did you even bother to ask us here?" Debbi asked confused.
"Also, that is a completely boring!" Howard asked annoyed as Debbi shook her head at him.
"But think about it. She doesn't seem annoyed by me for who I am, so asking should be a good idea, right? Of course, I was going to ask you, Debbi, what kind of flowers Theresa likes and give it to her" Randy answered as Debbi was a little bit impressed by him.
A little, but it was something.
"Red and pink tulips" she answered as she closed her notebook, "And if you get her to go out with her, then do not break her heart, or I will break you"
"Understandable!" he answered with a bow and bolted from the room to buy the flowers.
Howard sighed in defeat as he let his best friend get a girlfriend. He knew his best friend was a nice guy, so he should be with a nice lady too. He just hopes his best friend won't forget him.
"I doubt it" Debbi answered as he glanced to her, "He seems to be the person who cares about his friends. At least for now, but if he does hurt her, you'll be there to help him"
He was surprised by her kind words, especially since he and his best friend were not the smartest and the most annoying employees. Still, he supported them and decided to be there when it mattered.
"Wanna spy on them and see if either crash or burns?" Howard asked in a knowing tone as she simply laughed.
"I thought you would never ask" she answered as they spotted Theresa heading downstairs and followed her to the lobby.
"Thanks! I'm going to ask out this girl who I think is sweet!" Randy informed the florist as he paid and took the tulips.
He ran back to the studio without paying attention to who was walking in front of him. He crashed into someone and hit the ground. He made sure the tulips were fine and faced forward to see Theresa!
"Hey! Are you ok?!" he asked embarrassed as he sat up and held his hand out to her.
"Yes, I'm fine!" she answered and giggled at his reaction and noticed the flowers, "Oh, wow! Red and pink tulips! Who's your lucky partner?"
He blushed, sighed, and held it out to her. She accepted and smelled the bouquet. She glanced at him as he held a nervous expression and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well, you're helpful, beautiful, and smart!" he confessed warmly, "And I am kind, cool, and a bit of lovable idiot. I was thinking that if we were together, that would be juice! So, what do you say?"
He nervously held a smile as he felt the heat in his cheeks rise. Now, he got part one finished. He just hoped she would accept his offer
She blushed at his offer and grinned widely to reply, "I think that would be lovely! Let's be together!"
She excitedly took her hand in hers. He couldn't help but cheer in delight! She laughed at his reaction and let out a fun yell too. They stood up and held their hands happily. Howard watched and gave it a thumbs up while Debbi rolled her eyes at them with a soft smile. Julian had finished his work for the day and noticed Randy and Theresa were holding their hands and Theresa was holding a bouquet in her hands. He rushed to Debbi and Howard in disbelief.
"What happened?" he asked as he gestured to them with a wave of his hands.
"Oh, they're a couple now. Don't worry, I already gave Randy the threat. If he even hurts Theresa, I will beat him up" Debbi reassured Julian with a wave of her hand.
"And if Theresa hurts Randy, we will go out for ice cream at the local Tea shop that I am a proud member of" Howard added as Debbi gave him a weird look, "Hey, girls have their ways with grief, us men do too"
Debbi rolled her eyes at him as Julian was shaking in place. No, this couldn't be happening. They were friends. She wouldn't replace him, would she? No, Randy must've done something again! He already had his job! This will not happen! Not when he can do something about this! He rushed out of the studio as Howard and Debbi looked at him.
"Hey, is lord creepy going to be ok?" Howard asked curiously.
"I am sure he will be, but it might take him some time" Debbi answered, "He and Theresa were close in high school and college. Theresa stood up for him whenever anyone picked on him. They even started a DND group together too. I am sure after Theresa explains it to him, he will be fine. Since my best friend is also busy with yours, let's go to the tea shop. I want something sweet instead of noodles"
Howard glanced at his best friend and knew Debbi was right. He followed her out of the studio and to the tea shop. They failed to notice Julian was standing in the alleyway, holding a phone and bowtie. He texted Tom what his plans were and put his phone in his coat's packet.
"I will not let Randal take everything away me! He will not get away with this!" Julian shouted as he waved his hands downward to have a bolt of green lightning crash on him to transform him into the Wizard.
He saw Randy and Theresa still chatting near the entrance of the studio. Wizard gathered lighting to his hands and smirked.
"Prepare to meet your end, Randal" he whispered as he threw a bolt of lightning towards them.
As the couple was chatting, Theresa felt a familiar electricity flowing around as Randy felt his instincts rising. He quickly grabbed Theresa by her hands, pulled her close, and ducked from the incoming lighting.
"What is that?!" he exclaimed as he held Theresa close to him while searching for the source of the lightning.
Theresa's head was spinning. Why was Julian still trying to hurt Randy? He didn't do anything! Julian promised that his only enemy was the heroes and heroines! What is he thinking?! Randy could hear people screaming and fleeing as he sat up with Theresa still close to him. He could hear another frustrated growl as he saw the Wizard hovering above the ground with lightning coming from his hands!
"Ok, what the juice?! What do you want with me?!" Randy exclaimed as he pushed Theresa behind him.
If he could get the Wizard to chase him, then Theresa and the people, would be safe from him. Of course, he would have to find a way to transform, but he could worry about that part later.
"Your demise! You've made someone feel utter despair. I plan to return that to you!" the Wizard vowed as Theresa turned to face him.
She gave Randy the flowers as she stood up and shouted, "You can't do this! He hasn't done anything wrong! He was just being nice!"
Randy admired her courage, but he was also not going to let anything bad happen to her. The Wizard was furious with his friend as he felt his lightning crackling in his hands. How dare she replace him?! Randy reacted quickly when he noticed more lightning gathering to Wizard's hands.
"I'm sorry about this!" he shouted as he gave Theresa her bouquet and then wrapped his arms around her waist to toss her behind the reception desk before facing the Wizard, "Hey! Fake Dark Lord! You want Randy Cunningham?! I am right here!"
The Wizard let out a frustrated yell as he threw his lightning at Randy! Randy let out a scream and ran the other way! He looked over his shoulder to see the Wizard chasing him.
"What am I going to do now?!" he shouted as people were running away from them.
He pulled out his phone, pressed messages, and shouted to it to translate his voice to text, "I am in mortal danger! Someone get here and help me!"
He continued to run for his life as he passed a few fancy restaurants where people who had higher paying jobs could eat at. Star was waiting for Tom at one of them, but he was running a little late. She took out her phone to text him if everything was alright and noticed a message from Randy.
"Hi! Sorry about being late!" Tom said as he entered the restaurant and holding a bouquet of red roses, "You would not believe the loans this student has! Luckily, I was able to lower it for him"
She laughed as she shrugged and put her phone away. She was sure Randy could be fine. Besides, Kim and Danny did have late night meetings tonight. They would probably be able to help him if he was really in mortal danger.
"I can't relate, but I can relate with the stresses of work!" Star said warmly as they were shown their table, "And I can't believe you got us a table at Toni's! That's amazing, Tom! I love their spaghetti!"
Tom laughed at her childish reactions before nodding his head in agreement to how amazing he is. They were handed some menus, but Star closed hers right away. She already knew what she was going to order. Though, Tom glanced at her and then went back to the menu.
"Uh, are you sure you're not going to look at it anymore?" he asked curiously.
"Yeah! I already know what I want from here! Their spaghetti! Oh, maybe some breadsticks too. Those are delicious!" she exclaimed as she felt her mouth water at their food.
She even rubbed her stomach as she leaned back to imagine the food she was going to eat. As for Tom, he wasn't sure about her laid-back attitude and not bothering to be more adult. He looked through the menu one more time before closing it and then facing her. He saw her drooling a bit as she thought about the food. She wiped her face as the waiter arrived with water. Star thanked her and then put a straw in the drink to sip it.
"Hey, Star" Tom said with a nervous smile, "Shouldn't you act more your age?"
She was surprised to hear this. She stopped drinking her drink and looked at him bewildered.
"What do you mean? Don't you like me for me?" she asked surprised.
She could hear Jay's words echoing in her mind as she looked at Tom with a worried expression. As for Tom, he was shaking his head. Why couldn't she realize that she should grow up a little bit? He knew Star was in an unusual case, but he also knows she should grow up a little bit. Otherwise, she could be taken advantage of and harmed. He didn't want anything to happen to her!
"Of course, I do" he answered calmly as he held his hands in a gentle clasp, "But you must realize that not everyone will take you seriously because of your childish personality. They will try and take advantage of you for it and then make you do things for their selfish needs. You don't want that, now do you?"
Star couldn't believe she was hearing this. Tom was more formal, but he didn't expect this from him. He always loved her for herself. Why was he changing this now?
"Hey, did something happen at work?" Star asked confused as she tilted her head from side to side, "You never talked like this before. Are you ok?"
Tom could feel his anger rising. He couldn't understand how Star didn't realize this. She can't keep behaving like this! If she did, he was sure she would be taken advantage of!
"Yes, I am fine" he answered as he tried to keep himself calm, "But you must understand. With all these attacks lately, you could be in danger. Not everyone will be able to accept you for you like I do. The world isn't safe and can be very dangerous. Someone can hurt you for being yourself, and you don't want that"
Star wondered if he was right. He was smarter than her and even went to college to further his education. Maybe she should rethink her personality and act a little different. He was trying to protect her, right? She closed her eyes as she thought about this. Deep in her thoughts, she found herself standing alone in the darkness and above a blue, stain glass platform in her mind. She was alone... was she?
"Be yourself. If you really love someone, then you should be comfortable with being yourself. You should never be afraid of having to change yourself. If that person doesn't like you for you, then do not pursue that relationship. It will save you pain for later" Jay said with confidence as he appeared at her side with a grin.
She was surprised to see him until she recalled what happened a few hours ago. She was laughing and chatting happily with Marco and Janna. They are having a messy snack on her bed as they talked about their jobs, interests, and made a bunch of jokes.
"That's a crazy idea, Star!" Marco exclaimed in horror as Janna laughed in excitement, "Yeah, we should definitely have a movie party with a bunch of cake and ice cream!"
Star laughed a little as she saw Marco and Janna standing before her. Marco was holding a plat of nachos as Janna waved her tablet in the air. Then, she saw Randy, Danny, and Kim standing before with grins of their own.
"Come on, Star! I thought we were going to spar with the invention Wade invented! You have to see how it bounces off the walls!" Kim encouraged excitedly while cracking her knuckles.
Star nodded her head as she threw a punch, but Kim blocked it. They laughed warmly as Star turned to Danny who nervously waved to her.
"I know you wanted to test your elemental power, so Tucker and I were able to build a generator and record it. Of course, you need to hold the wires and make sure not squirm so much" Danny said warmly, "But please do not electrocute me. Actually, I should be in my hero form for this. Are you ready, Star?'
"Oh, yeah!" she exclaimed determinedly as lightning sparked from her hands like sparkles.
Danny simply nodded his head as she then faced Randy who was holding a bunch of items they would use for simple pranks.
"Star, I've got this great prank for Danny when he enters the flat. The bucket of water is an old school trick. So, what if we filled the bucket with dishwashing soap along with powder?! That should really make him a ghost, know what I mean?"
"Yes, I do! Randy, I know what we are going to do today!" Star said in a delighted manner.
The two of them laughed as she realized something. Everyone froze in her place, but they were truly there for her. They enjoyed her for herself. They were never upset with her for being herself. They never wanted her to change!
"No" she whispered as she finally opened her eyes to face Tom.
"What do you mean "no"?" he asked bewildered as he blinked at her determined expression.
"No" she answered determinedly as she slowly stood up, "I know not everyone will ever accept me for who I am, but I have made friends who do. They care about me and want what is best for me, but never at the expense of having me to change my personality. You know what that means? There are people out there who will love me for me and would not want me to change at all!"
Tom was surprised to hear determination in her voice. Where did this courage come from? Why was she doing this now?! He was just telling her the truth for her own good! Why couldn't she see that?!
He stood up, slammed his fists on the table, and shouted with anger rising in his voice, "No! That's not the point! People will hurt you for being you! You don't want to get hurt for that! But if you change a little, then you'll be fine! Don't be stupid and listen to me! I know what is good for you!"
Everyone in the restaurant starred at the couple as Star gasped at his words. He suddenly realized what he said as he took a step back. Well, he was right, but he knew he should've explained it better. Star finally understood her mentor's words as she picked up her purse and sighed. She pushed her chair in, walked away from the table, and stopped right next to Tom.
"Then, if you can't accept me for me, we shouldn't be together. Goodbye Tom and I hope you find someone who shares your ideals" Star answered as she felt some tears fall from her face.
She then ran out of the restaurant as Tom froze in place. That didn't just happen to him, did it? His girlfriend didn't break up with him, did she? No, did he miscalculate her reaction? How could he!? He always plans everything! He could feel his anger, frustrations, and sadness rising. He then raised his flaming fists and slammed it on the table to break it! Everyone jumped as a nervous waiter approached him.
"You will have to pay for this..." she said nervously as she held a clipboard close to herself.
"Bill it to the bank!" Tom snapped at her as he could feel his anger controlling his fire.
He stomped out of the ground, leaving burnt footprints and scorch marks. People were horrified of him as he stepped outside to see if his girlfriend was there, but she was long gone. Tom was grumbling as he felt his fire close to burning. He heard someone yelling and green lightning.
"Of course, you did something like this!" he yelled as people jumped at him.
He marched away and towards the fight as he transformed into the Inferno. He followed the lightning and found the Wizard casting lightning after Randy!
"What are you DOING?!" Inferno shouted as he appeared between them as fire burst from him to protect him from the lightning.
Randy hit the ground as he turned back to the two villains. He wondered if they were fighting amongst themselves. He felt the flames coming from Inferno that worried him. The fire was created out of anger and frustration. Randy slowly backed away from them. He has to transform and stop them before they actually hurt someone, mainly him, but he also knew others were nearby.
Wizard saw Randy slowly crawling away as he cast another lighting to shout, "Stopping him from taking away someone important to another!"
Randy let out another yell as he rolled away from the lightning. Inferno understood Wizard's feelings. Inferno sighed as he waved his hand to cast fire towards Randy! Randy let out another yell as he picked himself and continued to run from them!
"Oh, come on! Why me?!" he shouted as he ducked his head, "Someone help me!"
He continued to run as Star wiped a few tears from her face and saw them running! She hid behind a wall as she saw Randy screaming and running. She wondered how he got himself into this and shook her head. She tapped her bracelet, flew after them, picked up Randy, and flew away from the two villains.
"What happened?" she asked confused as Randy sighed in relief.
"I don't know! All I did was give flowers to Theresa and then the Wizard attacked me! Then, Inferno showed up!" Randy explained as she placed him on the roof of a building to hid behind an entrance.
"Oh, you asked?! Did it go well?!" Witch asked excitedly.
"Yeah! I got a girlfriend!" Randy answered warmly as he noticed her happy, sad expression and asked in a worried tone, "Are you ok? Did something happen to you?"
She sadly nodded her head and wiped another tea away. Randy placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile. She smiled at his comfort as he made a mental note to help her after they deal with the two villains. They were shouting at each other as their emotions were controlling their elements.
"I will take Howard's ice cream membership, and we can eat buckets for it. Right now, we have to stop them. His fire is driven by anger, and I do not know about his lightning" Randy said as he transformed into the Ninja.
"The lightning is driven by the emotion of fear and worry" Witch answered as she summoned her wand.
Ninja got an idea as he turned to Witch, "We can wear them down. They are not likely to think anything through with their emotions acting like this. We just have to annoy them, avoid their attacks, and then deliver a finishing blow together!"
He patted her back as she nodded her head. Ninja knew she was upset, so he should take the lead on this case. Although, if she wasn't ready, then he should be prepared to do something stupidly risky to make sure his friend is safe.
"Are you ready?" he asked as he grabbed her hand and prepared to jump off the building.
"Ready!" she answered as she gripped his hand and jumped off the building.
She held his hands and flew towards them. They were still arguing with each other, so Ninja got an idea.
"We are only trying to tire them out! But are you ready to blow them away?!" Ninja shouted as he got an idea.
"Ok!" she shouted as he then wrapped his scarf around her waist.
He fronts flipped forward as she let go of his hands and held her wand. Then, he swung her froward as she raised her wand above her head. Lightning was gathering to her wand as the villains were still distracted. She then slammed her wand on the ground to knock both back and zap them! Ninja landed behind her as she smirked. Wizard hovered before them as Inferno summoned his claymore, slammed it to the ground, and stopped himself from falling back. He could feel her lightning stunning him as he tried to stand up.
"Do you think your little lighting can stop us?!" Inferno growled as she held her wand up.
"Especially when mine is stronger!" Wizard yelled as threw a bolt of lightning at Ninja!
He didn't have time to run from it, but Witch stood between them as she extended her arms to take the lightning attack! Ninja looked at her as she grinned at the lightning flowing through herself. Ninja snapped his fingers as he got a better idea!
"Witch! Are you able to absorb it and keep it under control?" Ninja asked as he ran behind her.
"Yeah! Just like before!" she answered determinedly.
"Then keep absorbing it!" Ninja answered as he smirked, "I will do what I do best to both them and Phantom!"
He rushed to them as Witch flew behind him. Ninja jumped and stood on top of a streetlight as Wizard and Inferno were facing him.
"So, you two think you can stop me? I don't even think you can hit me!" Ninja taunted, "Hit me with your best shot!"
Inferno growled as he charged forward with Wizard gathering lighting to his hands. Ninja backflipped from the incoming strike from Inferno.
"Wow! Your fire is really angry!" Ninja commented, "I wouldn't do that! You could destroy something and hurt someone in the process!"
"As if you know what that feels like!" Inferno snapped as Ninja saw an incoming fire ball.
Ninja quickly grabbed the ball of fire, held it in his hands, and gently made it disappear. Inferno growled as he threw another punch. Ninja laughed, ducked, and avoided the punches and kicks.
"Come on, come on! Hit me! You can do it!" Ninja taunted as Inferno continued to blindly attack him with his anger.
Then, Ninja glanced behind him just as Inferno drew another fire punch at him. Ninja jumped up and let Inferno punch a wall. He was stuck in the wall and found himself struggling! Ninja laughed as Witch was holding her wand to absorb the lightning from the Wizard. She noticed that the Wizard was carelessly throwing lighting at her while yelling in pain.
"This lightning is born from fear" she whispered surprised as she continued to hold her wand to continue absorbing the lightning.
"Stop getting in my way!" Wizard exclaimed as he unleashed a burst of lightning at her, "You already have a friend! Let me have mine!"
Witch blinked at his words as Ninja quickly rushed to wrap his scarf around the waist of the Wizard. Ninja then planted his feet on the ground to hold himself on the ground.
"Yeah, he and I have friends, but that doesn't mean you have to hurt others who do have friends. You need to tell your friend how you feel! Work it out together!" Witch answered him as she held her hand out to him, "Because, you don't deserve this pain. Please let us help you"
Wizard was surprised as he faced her and then glanced to Ninja. Both held warm and comforting expressions to him. Inferno broke his hand free and turned to them. He charged at them as drew another punch at Ninja's gut!
"Ow! Why the gut?! Why?!" he exclaimed as he let go of Wizard and clutched his stomach.
Inferno smirked as Witch gasped and flew to Ninja's side to help him. She checked on him, but he shook his head and nodded to her. As the two of them were supporting each other, Wizard was hesitant to attack them. Were they trying to help him? Why?
"What are you waiting for?! Stop them!" Inferno shouted as fire burned from his hands.
Wizard gathered lightning to his hands as the hero and heroine faced them.
"We have to stop them now" Witch said seriously as she prepared herself.
"What's the plan?" Ninja asked as he drew a katana.
"As I absorb the lighting, you take the fire. Then, we switch opponents" Witch answered as she looked at him, "Are you ready?"
"Ready!" he reassured her as they stood up.
Inferno threw a ball of fire as Wizard cast another lighting spell. Witch rushed to hold her wand and absorb the lighting as Ninja caught the ball of fire. After absorbing their powers, Ninja jumped and waved his hands to unleash a wave of fire at Wizard. Witch then dove straight at Inferno to swing her wand to unleash all the lighting she stored. Their attacks were strong enough to defeat their villains who hit the ground, defeated, and tired.
"Alright! Victory!" Witch exclaimed as Ninja grinned and fell to his knees, exhausted, "Ah! Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I just need to rest. How are those two?" Ninja asked as he felt his strength draining.
The two villains did pick themselves up, but they were exhausted and frustrated. Inferno was frustrated, but his anger couldn't ignite his fire anymore. As for Wizard, he was exhausted and couldn't spark his lightning.
"We will be back! Inferno vowed, "We will defeat you! Mark my words, heroes! You will be stopped!"
"Heroines too!" Witch snapped at him as he and the Wizard disappeared.
She sighed in a frustrated manner as Ninja was relieved.
"Well, let's hang out at my place. Though, we should go our separate ways" Ninja told her warmly.
"A good idea, but are you sure you can make it on your own?" Witch asked with concern.
"Yeah, yeah. Nothing to worry about" Ninja reassured her with a grin as he stood on his own, "See ya there!"
She nodded and flew back to the flat as he used his scarf to swing there. Witch flew to Marco's dojo to ask him if he wanted to come to the flat and spend some time with them. She could use a good friend after her most recent break up with Tom. She landed behind his dojo and transformed back to herself before knocking on the door.
"I am sorry, but I am about to lock up for the night" he said as he opened it to find Star in her date dress, "Star? What are you doing here? What happened to your date?"
She held a sad expression as she finally cried. Marco rushed out to check on her. She let everything out as Marco simply held his hand out to her. She stopped crying for a moment to look at him.
He shrugged his shoulders and reassured her, "I don't know what happened between you two, but I do know this, I am still your friend. So, I'll stay here with you and help you through this"
She took his hand and still cried as she asked, "Could we -sniff- just stay here and watch the premier of a show my friend worked on? I want to see it"
"Sure thing. I'll even call your folks and let them know what happened" he reassured her, "And let's make some nachos and drink pop! Actually, let's invite Janna too! Oh, I'll let your friends know that you're here too"
She laughed and agreed, "I'll just text them and Janna. Thanks Marco. You're a good best friend"
"I do try!" he answered with pride, "But we have more important things to do tonight! The premier of a new show! This is animated right?"
"Yeah! It is a spin off from a famous one" she informed him as they laughed and were soon talking about their favorite shows, cracking jokes, and getting ready for it.
He held her stand up and walk to his dojo to rest in his apartment for the night. Janna climbed up the apartment's ladder and kicked the window open to then jumping into the room. Marco and her cheerfully and loudly greeted each other as Star held a warm smile. Yes, she was hurt, but she was grateful to have supportive friends and a warm family. She looked at her phone to see messages from her parents informing her that she as fine to stay with her friends while Danny and Kim reassured her that they would support her and understand as well.
"Come on, let's watch this thing! I did not rig the budget of our town for nothing!" Janna said as she sat next to Star and took the remote to turn the TV on.
Star smiled warmly as she felt a jolt of happiness return to her.
"Thank you" she whispered as they were ready to watch the premier.
Ninja was relieved to see everyone unharmed and safe as he swung himself back to his flat.
"Ha! Eat it, Phantom! I am much faster thana you when it comes to fighting!" he murmured to himself as people were now able to go about the rest of the night without worry.
He felt his phone buzz in his outfit's pocket and took it out to see a text from his teammates that they were each busy with something, so they couldn't watch the premier. He knew that was fine, but he looked at Star's text to read that she would be watching it with Marco and Janna. Ninja understood and reassured her it would be fine. To be honest, he did find Marco a lot of fun to hang out with when Howard, Kim, and Danny were busy which they happen to be tonight.
"Howard, are you busy?" Ninja pondered as he texted his best friend who replied with a photo of himself and Debbi at the exclusive broadcasting room where they would reveal the show, "How in the juice did that happen?! Well, good for you buddy. Good for you"
He then continued to his flat until he landed on the ground between the alleyways. Come to think of it, he was hungry after all that fighting and hoped Theresa would be fine. Though, he reasoned if Debbi was at the broadcasting room, Theresa must be as well.
"I would love to have some nachos" he realized as his mouth drooled, "Yep! Gotta stop by the Nosh Olé Café for some!"
He nodded to himself as he reached for his bracelet to transform himself back to his young adult self. He was so busy thinking of food that he didn't realize someone was approaching him from behind. Theresa was going to stay for the broadcasting, but she declined as she tried to keep up with the Ninja and Wizard. Once the fight broke out, she decided it would be best to stay out of it and head to the local gym to train for her next competition and then return to her apartment. She had her satchel and purple hair in a loose ponytail as she checked her phone for any messages with Julian, her friends, and family. Julia only texted to inform her that he would be busy with his other job, much to concern. She sighed and then saw a shadow pass over the light. She looked to see the Ninja!
"Oh! He's out on patrol! Maybe I can talk with him!" she whispered excitedly as she even thought about helping Julian with this.
She ran after him as he landed between the alleyways. She peeked from the wall to see him standing in place and was thinking about what to ask him. He did a little celebratory dance before going back to thinking. She pulled away and told herself to not fangirl nor shy away at him. She needs to talk with him for Julian! After giving herself a pep talk, she turned to see him adjusting something and revealing his face. She froze as she recognized the purple, spiky hair she loved.
"Randy?" she whispered worriedly as he jumped and slowly turned around to face her.
His eyes were wide as he turned to see the girl he had grown to know her at their jobs. She was standing there looking very worried as he rushed to her and reached to embrace her shoulders but stopped midway. She must be thinking a bunch of crazy thoughts in her mind as he was. His teammates and friends told him to keep it a secret. Now, he had thoughtlessly revealed his identity to her!
"Theresa, I'm so sorry. Yes, I am the Ninja" he confessed hesitantly as he hands fell to his sides, "But I'm ok! I've got close friends who are my teammates! We are working together to make sure the villains do not anything to hurt you and everyone here! So, you don't have to worry about me! Promise!"
He tried to make light of the situation to relieve her of any worries she had for him. She looked down, unsure of what to even say. Suddenly, another thought crossed her mind of when he caught her the first time and told her. Her faced flushed as she realized that he was telling her how he really felt! She smiled a little as he felt some relief. She wasn't panicked anymore, but he did have to tell her something important. Of course, she also knows who he is and would have to tell Julian as well. She wasn't looking forward to that. Especially since she does have a crush on him, both sides of him!
"Theresa, I have something important to ask you" he said gently, "Please don't tell anyone I'm the Ninja. No one is supposed to know, and if someone did know, we agreed to mine wipe the person using the Nomicon. I don't want to erase your mind"
She was surprised to hear that as she noticed his hands wanting to reach out to her. She simply smiled, grabbed his hand gently with her grip, and held it close to herself. He blushed at the contact and giggled a bit. He wasn't used to this, but he didn't mind it either if she was fine with it.
"Don't worry" she said softy and confidently, "I'll keep your secret. You have nothing to worry about. But the next time you're in a fight, I'm going to help you. After all, I am a trained athlete in many areas! I am sure I can do something help you!"
She could keep two secrets after all. She was already keeping Julian's, so why not keep Randy's too? They both mean so much to her, and she is determined to help them. She may not know how, but she will figure it out. Randy felt so relieved as he burst out in a fit of laughter. She was surprised as she saw him transform back to his normal clothes.
"That's a huge relief! I was so worried I was going to have to mind wipe you! That would've been awful! Not juice if you ask me" he said in relief as their joined hands fell to their sides naturally.
She then realized something about his situation and asked suspiciously, "Wait, is that why you and Howard disappear? You are off doing hero stuff, and he's covering for you! That means you didn't erase his mind! Why would you erase mine?"
He blushed at that statement as he whispered, "Don't tell anyone, but I am struggling with money. So, I can't really afford to lose any more money, so I told my best pal about this. Also, I am sure Kim has someone to cover for her too. There is no way Miss Serious would have her perfect job record ruined. As for Danny, I've got no clue, and Star is a special case"
She shook her head and pointed out, "So, why do you bother with the rule at all?"
"Ask Kim who I dub thee as Miss Serious! She's the one besides Danny who made the rule!" Randy explained as best as he could with shaking his head at the list of rules the two of them came up with.
It gave him such a headache to think about, but he couldn't careless! He didn't have to erase her memory! He was relieved! Of course, he realized he would be screwed next time he talked with the Nomicon about this, because that book will not let him live this one day. At least, he thinks. The book did take the form of heroes of the past, and the Sensei Yamato seemed to agree with him, more or less. Again, he can worry about that later as he realized the girl he loved was pretty chill with him being a hero and safe.
"So, everyone else I know is busy, but would you like to come back to my place and watch the premier of the show with me?" he asked as he rubbed the back of his head and a nervous smile.
"Sure! But first, I need to eat. Nosh Olé Café please? I could go for some nachos!" she answered with a smile as Randy's nervous smile became a grin.
They held hands as they talked and went to get takeout before heading to his flat to watch the premier of the show. Everyone was excited for it, and for now, everything seemed to be in favor of the heroes and heroines. They were enjoying their peaceful moments with those they cared about, but their story will turn to a new page. This page marks the start of their true start to their story as the Chosen Heroes and Heroines.
