Surprise
~Mark
"-and as always I will see you, in the next video. Buh-Bye!" I shut off my camera as I waved, ending my last video I needed to record for the day.
"Hey babe, you done recording?" Amy opened the door to my recording room and poked her head in through the crack, a small smile playing on her bright red lips. She was dressed somewhat casually in a white sweater that was cropped below the shoulders and a medium length black and pale yellow floral skirt, even though it was close to six in the evening, and we weren't planning on going anywhere.
"Yeah, I just finished. Decided to dress nice for the fun of it?" I smirked as she entered the room, dumping the black and blue floral bag on the floor, her footsteps from the felt black flats she was wearing muffled by the plush black carpet.
"Well, I just heard of a new place we should go to for dinner that I think you'd like." She explained.
"Should I wear something nicer?" I was wearing a black t-shirt that hugged my torso, my red and black flannel, gray tennis shoes, my black rectangular framed glasses, and a pair of dark blue jeans.
"No, you look fine just the way you are." She assured me, her light pink lipstick lightly shining in the light casted from the lamp on my desk.
"You're right, I should just put on some make up instead." I teased as she rolled her eyes at me.
"If you want, I'm putting on my eyeliner so once I'm done I can help you with yours." She offered sarcastically as she stepped into the doorway, looking back at me.
"Tempting, but maybe not this time." I decided as I shut down my computer, texting Ethan that the videos were ready for editing before sticking it back in my pocket. Chica was already down at the studio with him, Kathryn and Tyler so I didn't have to worry about her.
"You know you look beautiful without make up, right?" I leaned against the doorframe of the bathroom door as Amy started applying eye liner.
"Are you only saying that because you want to leave faster?" She asked without looking away from the mirror, a small smile playing onto her lips.
"Only stating the truth." I gently kissed her on the cheek to not completely distract her from what she was doing.
"But I am really hungry though." I added, earning a playful punch on the arm from Amy as she finished applying make up.
"I'll go ahead and pay. Consider this date night." I snatched my wallet out of my room, along with my car keys before walking outside with Amy, slamming the door shut behind her, remembering to lock it before I jogged to catch up to her. Even though it was early January, there was only a cool breeze that caressed my face, blowing my freshly dyed black hair back a bit. The sun was still shining brightly in the sky like a golden ball, although it was barely visible over the rooftops of the houses that surrounded me.
"Here, I'll drive." Amy volunteered, taking the car keys out of my hand before I could open my mouth to protest, climbing into the driver's side. I rolled my eyes as I climbed into the passenger seat, staring out the window as she started driving to wherever we were going for dinner. Flashes of blurry cars whizzed past us as I tried to figure out where we were going.
"Can I at least know the name of the place?" I groaned, the curiosity and anticipation killing me.
"No, it would give away the surprise. Besides, we're almost there anyway." She promised me.
I let out a huff of irritation as I folded my arms across my chest and pretended to pout.
"You're such a child, you know that?" She giggled.
"That's my best quality." I shrugged, attention instantly darting back towards the window as we turned into a large crowded parking lot. "Now, put this on." Amy instructed, handing me a black scrap of cloth.
"But-"
"C'mon, just trust me." She laughed.
"Ugh, fine." I groaned as I removed my glasses, tying the cloth over my eyes before putting them back on.
"Trust me, it'll be worth it." Even though I couldn't see, I could tell she was grinning as she she took my hand and guided me across the parking lot at a brisk pace that made it difficult for me to keep up with her.
"Ow!" I grimaced as I once again ran into a parked car.
"Sorry!" Amy apologized sheepishly, walking slower. I could hear the soft tinkling of a greeting bell as she pushed a door open, practically dragging me inside before abruptly stopping. Everything was eerily quiet, which greatly unsettled me.
Is this is a prank?, I wondered as I heard her dig through her purse to find something.
"You can remove the blindfold now!" She stated. I could've swore I heard a giggle as I fumbled to untie it.
"Surprise!" Several hundreds of people were crowded into the building we were in, huge smiles lighting up everyone's faces. I felt the corner of my lips turn up into a huge grin as the crowd surged forward, enveloping me in hugs.
"They wanted to do this as a celebration for you hitting sixteen million subs." Amy explained happily as people calmly organized themselves into a long curved line so I could take photos with them or sign stuff. It felt like only minutes had passed once I finished taking a picture with the last person, yet when I checked the time on my phone, it was now eight-thirty.
"So this place is a restaurant?" I felt my stomach growl as I observed the interior.
Flat screens were evenly spaced out across the black walls trimmed with bright red, all of them currently blank. Black tables with red seats were scattered everywhere, as well as several booths tucked into corners. The back counter with the red top where you paid for food was to the left, more TVs lined above it, showing images of different kinds of burgers and various other kinds of meats. There was a light hanging over every table and booth decorated to look like tiny box Tims. Painted on the far back wall was a pink mustache. Even for the bathrooms the males had a Warfstache figure and the girls had a Chica.
"You okay babe?" Amy frowned in concern, squeezing my hand.
Instinctively I put a hand to my cheek. It was damp with fresh tears. I didn't even know I was crying.
"I'm such a baby." I chuckled softly as I dried off my face by wiping it with the sleeve of my plaid shirt, making it damp as well.
"So do you like it?" A girl around fifteen or sixteen asked shyly, her hands fidgeting in front of her. She had shoulder length chocolate brown hair and hazel eyes that shone with excitement. She was wearing one of my shirts I sold for charity that had the Markiplier's Heroes pixel heart on the sleeve, jeans, and red converse.
"I love it!" I gushed, absolutely stunned by how amazing it looked.
"I'm Amie by the way." She blushed as she introduced herself.
"I'm assuming you already know me." I chuckled.
"Y-yeah." Her blush deepened.
"This is project Markiplier's Heroes, led mainly by me, but I had help from a countless number of others. We've been planning on doing something special for you for a while, but we couldn't figure out what until we found out that an abandoned clothes department was up for sale in LA. All of this was done by us for you to thank you for, well, everything." She explained.
"This is seriously awesome, I'm so amazed that you guys decorated this restaurant for me." I ran my hand across the metal doorframe of the entrance I was still standing by.
"Mark, this restaurant is for you." Amie corrected.
"R-really?" I stuttered in amazement.
"Well, at least if you want it." She added, pulling a folded up sheet of paper out of her pocket.
"I-"
"How about this-run this place for a week, whatever hours you want, then let me know if you want to keep it. If so, then the deed of yours and the bills are already paid for a year in advanced. If not, then we'll sell the place. Sound good?" She interrupted me.
"Sure." I agreed, glad that I had time to think about it since I had no idea how I'd fit it into my schedule of YouTube.
"There's also an upstairs with a deck if you wanna check it out." Amie changed the subject, gesturing to a set of black spiral stairs with a red railing in the far left corner of the room. I noticed that there was a quote from me painted on each step until I reached the top. There was a pixelated M made of glass in the ceiling so you could see the stars glittering in the night sky. My logo was painted onto the glass door that lead to the spacious deck that had red umbrellas folded up in the center of every table for when it was hot or rained.
"This place is beautiful." Amy rested her head on my shoulder, looking up at the night sky. Suddenly from downstairs, I heard a loud crash of metal that made Amy and I jump, startled by the loud noise.
"Excuse me." Amie darted down the stairs. Amy and I exchanged glances before following her. She opened up a black painted door that I hadn't noticed behind the counter. Inside were several animatronics of me that were so life like that I could barely tell that they weren't human.
"Sorry about that, one of them must've malfunctioned and fell over. I'm still trying to figure out how they work since a fan had them shipped here." She apologized meekly. The room looked exactly like my recording room with the black carpet and black sound proof padding, except there was a bulky white security camera in the corner. One of the animatronics had fallen over face first, yet it had a small but noticeable dent in the side of its head that I noticed as Amie lifted it upright again. All of the animatronics were lined up side by side, heads drooped down over their chests.
"This one's Youngiplier," She started with the animatronic at the left end of the line. He looked like me when I first started my channel, reminding me of fond memories.
"Shagiplier," She gestured to the next. It looked like me when I was a little older with longer black hair.
"Warfstatche, Pinkiplier, Blueiplier," She continued.
"Googliplier, Creepiplier, Rediplier and lastly Darkiplier." She finished. I could've swore I saw Dark's blood red eyes look at me before they snapped shut again, making me wonder if I imagined it.
"Here's the key." Amie tossed me a simple silver key that I caught with one hand, nearly dropping it on the floor.
"Are there cameras in every room?" I pointed to the one in the corner.
"Yeah, security room is this way." She nodded, opening yet another door that led to a dimly lit corridor. We walked down it a while before we stopped at a room to the right with a black desk with an office chair rolled up to it and a lap top sitting closed on the desk. The walls were adorned with fan art of me, as well as Chica and Amy.
"You'll have to hire who you want for running the register, being security guard, a chef, and waiter until the animatronics are ready." Amie interjected.
"Shouldn't be a problem." I nodded, thinking of talking to Ethan and Tyler tomorrow when I had the chance.
"You guys can keep looking around if you want, enjoy!" Amie waved as she left.
"Let's go home, it's almost midnight." I yawned, the hunger I had completely forgotten about quickly returning as I trudged to the car. I glanced behind me briefly to see the outside of the building. On the top read a neon red sign that read "Markiplier's Meats".
"Need a midnight snack?" Amy smirked as she allowed me to drive this time, snapping my attention back to her. "I'm starving!" I exclaimed as I drove to McDonalds, picking up a big Mac and large fries with a water from the drive thru, scarfing it down on the way home.
"Did you like the surprise?" Amy asked with a barely restrained yawn as she entered the house.
"Definitely." I threw away my trash before going into my room, placing my phone and glasses on my bedside table, removing my pants and shoes, then climbing into bed, falling asleep instantly as Amy cuddled up next to me.
