Chapter 6

An alarm clock rang out loudly. Jolting awake, Gregory let out a yelp. Scrambling to turn off the annoying device, he slammed the buttons several times before finally yanking the plug out. Trembling, he sat in bed with his knees tucked in towards his chest. He was pretty shaken up by the loud noise. Bad memories flashed before his eyes. He squeezed them shut just as the bedroom door opened.

"Are you okay Gregory?" Vanessa asked, entering the room. The security guard sat down on the edge of the bed. Resting his chin on his knees, Gregory nodded his head solemnly and mumbled, "Yeah, I'm alright. The alarm clock spooked me, that's all." Sighing softly, Vanessa remarked, "That's the fifth time this week kiddo. Maybe the alarm clock was not a good idea-"

"No no! It's fine!" Gregory interrupted, lifting his head. Looking down at his feet, he added, "It's helping me feel like a normal kid again." Vanessa raised one eyebrow in disbelief. But she didn't bother questioning it. Getting up, she patted the young boy on the shoulder as she kindly informed him, "I have breakfast out on the table, pancakes, eggs and bacon."

"Thank you. I'll be right out," Gregory replied with a soft smile. Ruffling the kid's messy brown hair, Vanessa headed out to the kitchen. She went about getting two plates ready. By the time she had finished, Gregory had arrived in a T-shirt and shorts. Thanking her for the food, he took his plate over to the kitchen table. Vanessa soon followed with her own.

Quietly reading the newspaper, Vanessa reached over for her cup of coffee. While doing so, she glanced over at Gregory. He was eating his food slowly, like he didn't have the heart to eat it. Taking a look at his plate, she spotted two partially eaten eggs and a few pieces of bacon on top of a pancake. It looked like a certain bear's face.

Freddy Fazbear.

Vanessa could feel her heartstrings being pulled. It had been five days since she took Gregory in. She didn't need a neon sign to know the young boy had grown attached to the bear animatronic. There were times where she was woken up by the kid screaming for Freddy to protect him. He really missed the robot.

Taking a sip of her coffee before setting the cup back down on the table, Vanessa tried to focus on the newspaper again. But as soon as she saw an article about the burned down Pizzaplex, she shut it. Setting the newspaper aside, she ate her breakfast. Her mind began to wander at the same time. She wanted Gregory to be happy. Perhaps she could maybe... would it even be possible? Would he even be operational at the moment? The questions swam through her head. Making up her mind, Vanessa turned to Gregory and asked, "Hey, after breakfast are you up for an adventure?"

Looking up from his plate, Gregory replied, "What kind of an adventure?"

"Vanessa! It's great to see you!" Trish exclaimed. The short curly haired woman hopped off the desk she was sitting on as Vanessa and Gregory entered the workshop. The security guard was not at all prepared for the incoming hug. Patting her friend on the back, she replied, "Yeah, it's nice to see you too Trish."

"Is that Vanessa I'm hearing?" a man's voice called from the back. A moment later, a tall man with spiky blond hair came out. Seeing the security guard, he waved to her and remarked, "I thought I heard you! How are you doing with this whole... thing?"

"Hi Shane, yeah. I'm okay I guess..." Vanessa answered, shrugging her shoulders. She knew Shane was talking about the Pizzaplex. That's all anyone talked about these days. Sighing softly, she glanced down at Gregory. Remembering why she was here, the security guard cleared her throat and spoke, "Shane, Trish. This is Gregory. He's... he's Freddy's biggest fan and... he wanted to see him."

"Wait, is Freddy here?!" Gregory asked, his eyes widening in shock. Was this the surprise Vanessa promised him? He looked up at the security guard, who simply smiled and nodded in response. Excitement coursing through his veins, Gregory turned to Shane and Trish. He was about ready to start bouncing off the walls. Shane seemed to sense this as he patted the kid on the shoulder and said, "Follow me Gregory."
